Does anyone have a help tutorial for unrooting an Galaxy S2 using a Mac?
Help!
I tried all the Mac tutorials I've found and they all weren't successful for me. I ran windows 7 in VM ware and rooted that way.

Mac's should be able to use Hemidall. Think this post should of been in the Q/A Section :|
Try this guide for going back to stock:

This should be in the Q&A forum.
If all you want to do is unroot, you can do it from your phone. Use a root file explorer to remove
system/bin/su
system/xbin/su
system/app/superuser.apk
and optionally
system/xbin/busybox (if installed)
reboot

Hi. I accidentally deleted my system xbin file. Now I can't root or install xrecovery on my phone. Anybody can teach me how to restore the xbin file to the phone system? Sorry for posting it here...new member so can't post it at development...
You shouldn't be posting in development, dude! All queries go to either general or q&a

i think you should repair with SEUS and start again with rooting etc...
Which xbin are you talking about? The /system/xbin directory?
Maybe it's because the method you are using to root tries to installs the su binary in /system/xbin. Which method are you using? You could try another method, for example, if I remember well, when I used to use z4root, it installed the su binary to another directory.
Once root is working, you can use any terminal app (or adb shell) to recreate the directory.

This is a solution that surely would work.
Yeah..I'm talking bout the /system/xbin folder...I tried using z4root but it jams halfway...superoneclick doesn't work either..
I like the root option in flashtool, always worked for me when the others failed.

Use flashtool to wipe your data and get back to stock rom. Then you can do whatever you want with it.

THIS is perfect place for you then to start off
is it safe to flash my phone even though i delete some system files and my rom is gingerbread 2.3.4 is it ok if i flash it to gingerbread 2.3.4 also?
Yes, you can.
You will lose data though. Messages, contacts and apps. Backup those if you need to.
So I was bored at work and did something stupid. Now I'm wondering if there is some way to fix it without having to flash my entire phone.
Is there someway a single file can be deleted using a CWM update zip. The file is the ported version of google now and having installed it using root explorer it is stopping my phone from booting entirely.
The file is "system/app/velvet.apk".
If anyone is experienced at CWM and knows how this can be achieved then I would be extremely grateful.
SOLUTION: Flashed a stock nandroid backup of the system, managing not to lose my data.

I would imagine you could use adb to delete the file. Install the Android SDK on your computer and use adb shell to delete the offending file from bootloader mode. Havent tried it before myself, but I believe that's what adb is for amongst other things?
p.s. You should post this in Q&A forum and you might get a better response. This is not dev related.

Ok will try it at work, or at home. Thanks for the suggestion. Will post in the Q&A forum as well.
Velvet.apk isn't that the voice reg. From jellybean, that shouldn't stop your phone from booting.the app would only FC.
Adb or reflash as suggested above
Tell someone to make it cwm flashable. Boot to recovery and flash. Make a new thread or ask for this a mod to rename it.
Something like this " make velvet.apk cwm flashable".
Cheers

Hey there! About 2 months ago I first rooted my HTC Legend and unlocked my bootloader and ugraded it to hboot 1.02
I installed cyanogenmod 7.2 and all worked great. I have CWM 5.0.2.8 installed too. And supertool worked for me (zergling rushes commenced . I was also able to use eclipse for android to view my root files via the computer.
Well I cant do this anymore. I can only see my root files via the phone using Root Explorer Lite which I downloaded from the play store.
And supertool is giving me errors of read-only file system (see attached screenshot) and says pushing Superuser.apk, so it appears on my phone, I also opened it but I don't know what im supposed to do in there??
I just want to be able to access my root files via my computer. do I have to use eclipse or is there another program? what am I doing wrong here?
ATM im using a workaround where I copy files to my SD card and then using Root Explorer Lite I copy for instance ringtones to the system/media/audio/ringtones folder and that works. But I need a simpler method like drag and dropping files into this folder via my computer. How can I do this?
Thanks for you help!
You can try qtadb.

Curious as to actually know the need to use supertools when your already using a rooted rom?
I am so sure supertools was only needed to root a non rooted Rom, perhaps supertools stuffed it up....
Have you simply tried just using adb commands from cmd?
Perhaps your issue is the pc itself.
Maybe first is to try this:
Adb devices (proves phone and pc are connected).
Adb shell
Then type "su"
Then type "ls" (this gives file listing on device)
This is assuming you know anything about windows cmd, Adb and stuff like that.
Just some basics to get you started in trying to diagnose.
Hey, why not try restoring a nandroid backup you did earlier, you did do a backup yeah?

thanks this actually worked! i dont even know how/why but it did
i tried other programs like Droid Explorer or Android Commander but it didnt let me copy files to system/media/ or wutever. and it would say my phone isnt rooted.
i tried the cmd promt as ranger said with adb shell
i did the su and ls thing and it works (displays dir/files list) but thats not the problem, the problem is when i type something like this:
chmod 777 media/
and it says it cant change permissions cuz its read-only file system, the same reason supertool didnt want to work. i wan my zergling rush!!!
seriously this is weird
I got a replacement phone from Assurian today. Note 2 with I605VRUEMJ9.
I'd like to be able to root it to run apps requiring boot. Can you please point me at the thread on how to root this phone? I've used ODIN and CASUAL before on other Note2's but this is the first one I have with MJ9.
I read in the Safestrap dev thread this:
Sounds like it requires root already? I'm a little lost here. Thanks.
HOW DO I INSTALL SAFESTRAP?
1.Requirement: Root
2.Requirement: Allow APK install from Unknown Sources
3.Download the Safestrap APK
4.Find the APK using a Filemanager tool and open it on your device, then click "Install".

Good luck.
