How to modify the pull down icon selection? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i want to modify the pull down icon selection as per screen shot. I want to replace the GPS with a data one.
I have all the icons in the framework and system UI to do this but have no idea how to go about replacing it.
Any help is appreciated

I'm looking more for a 'How to' so that I can do it myself for this and any future roms

In the rom I'm currently using I can go into settings/personal/toggle settings/customise toggles & choose which 11 toggles I want in my pulldown toggle panel.
Might find similar in other roms.

[Q] Transparent Status bar?

Does anyone know how to make the status bar slightly transparent (like in the One X)? Can a third party app do that, or is that reserved for a flashable mod?
That's the ONLY style in Sense that I like.

You need a deodexed rom and mod the systemui.apk
I used this guide to change mine.

[Q] Status bar app background

I'm using Neat ROM Lite 3.2.1 and I'm wondering how to edit the framework-res or SystemUI to get the colored app background in the status bar (as shown in yellow in the image below). It's the blueish part on the left side where the icons are.

This is what the stock Samsung status bar looks like
I tried using Wanam's apk manager to decompile the framework-res/systemui of my rom and compare the xmls to those of JB roms, but I couldn't find where to change it. I'm thinking it might be something to do with SystemUI.apk/res/drawable/status_bar_item_background.xml or framework-res.apk/res/drawable/status_bar_item_app_background.xml
but I can't figure out how to do the change. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
It could actually be a .PNG image in the res/drawable-hdpi folder. That's where I would look first

Is there a way to disable or remove them?
Please help.
If you run a custom rom, you can disable them.

I've used Desktop VisualizeR & QuickShortcutMaker to create app shortcuts (with the name as a blank space) for most of my apps. However there a couple of "live" shortcut icons like Messaging that don't respond well to that technique. Is there another way to achieve what I describe in the above image?

If you are rooted, Nottach Xposed has an option to disable the names: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293956. It's under 'Launcher>Hide dock app labels'.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I'm unrooted and that's not going to be happening very soon since I updated the firmware.

I don't know if your device supports it, but on the Galaxy S4 you can find how to do it here:
inside-galaxy.blogspot.de/2014/01/samsung-galaxy-s4-how-to-customize_27.html
Go to Settings -> Display Settings -> Notification panel.
Or search for something like Edit quick settings, or anything to do with notification panel in the Settings menu.
If you can't find anything like this, then it probably doesn't support it. I don't own that phone model so I can't say. Sorry.
I was looking for, but there is no such option in the menu.
Perhaps it is stored in an XML file.
