No with cwm you cant root stock rom anymore
Youcdont need root to use cwm
But if you cant root it
Try to install other rom owith odin
Or try an custom rom
If you like sgs 2 and stock
Then choose for theserious mod or sgsII 2.3.5 rom

yeh thanks so much i have cwm !
1. do i have to flash a custom rom and then root again :S
2. do we neet root access to flash scripts
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
What do you mean that those methods do not work for you?
Do the zip files run and you still don't get root access, or do they say update aborted?
You should flash a custom rom
With manual cwm recovery
Then you could use scripts

Also, I seen your post about CF-root. It didn't seem like the question really got answered, and it is relevant here so I am bringing it up.
CF-Root is another way of rooting your phone. It is by far the most reliable and easiest way that I have found. Like you I had a lot of trouble rooting my SGA and CF-Root was the only method that worked 100%.
The CF-Root package can be installed through CWM4/5 recovery as a .zip and will install a few custom things on your phone along with the root access. You will gain the ability to Overclock up to 902MHz (depending on what is stable for your phone) and a Tweak Manager where you change change other performance aspects of your phone.
CF-Root is short for Chainfire root, the team that made the exploit. Here is the link to the original post, download the CF-Root-S5830-v3.7-b83:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158197
thanks bro ill try it and ill be back to tell you if it worked hopefully it does

You mentioned scripts too. This is a great script that can be run on your stock ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380006&highlight=turboboost+v8+5

When I first wanted to flash the cm7.1 rom to my phone I downloaded ROMmanager. When I tried to flash the CWM Recovery to my phone, SGA did not show up on the list of recognized devices.
I found a workaround on the forum somewhere which had a custom CWM version which I flashed onto my phone directly without ROMmanager.
Now I checked ROMmanager again and SGA was recognized and I flashed the official CWM Recovery 4.0.0.9 to my ace.
Does this now mean that the custom version is deleted and the new official CWM is the current recovery? I want to add mods to my rom using CWM so I need to know if this is safe.
Thanks in advance
U MUST DELETE ROM MANAGER NOW!!!!!!!!! IT has killled a lot of galaxy aces dont use it !!!

Just a quick note to say that the Ace S5839i can be rooted using the same method as the S5830i
Retribution Beta 3.5 also flashed without any problems. Phone model is now listed as a S5830i after flashing the ROM
Thanks to all involved for your work.
Hi. I've rooted mine ok. How did you flash the rom? I can't install cwm.. Says device not recognised. Any advise would be helpful.

I have successfully bypassed hardbricking from rom manager on my galaxy gio and made a guide about how to do that. You are probably thinking right now "but wait, ace and gio are different phones! This can't work!" Well, wrong. This has also been confirmed to work on galaxy fit. So i need someone to test rom manager my safe way (which is 99.9% safe). My tester needs the following:
A Samsung galaxy ace, rooted and vem installed.
Have the ability to take screenshots.
Want to prevent hardbricks from incorrectly using rom manager
Please pm me if you're interested. I will give you instructions from there.

No, you make rom manager use your current recovery and configures to use that one.

Stop posting stuff like this. Rom Manager isn't 100% compatible with ace yet. It will brick any ace on stock firmware (you know, the firmware EVERY NEW USER STARTS WITH WILL BRICK WITH ROM MANAGER)
Rom Manager requires a custom kernel and cwm5 installed to have a chance of working brick free.

Yes. I was thinking of writing the guide about just that you described here.

TThe rom manager included in CM7 official does not brick.
But tge one which I dl from play store bricked my phone.
I guess you need CWM compatible kernel before using.
