Restart - HTC Amaze 4G

My htc amaze is restarting it self when i go to update the weather while having the wireles on and i exhange the phone before two times with the same problem. WHat could be the solution?

Likely an app causing a conflict. Try a factory restore and test the weather widget before reloading your apps. It will likely work and if so start installing apps one by one while testing after each.
Its a long process and I've gone through it with an Inspire 4G, an app was killing my auto rotate.

are you stock rom or custom rom? stock kernel or faux kernel?

Well is not an app is like the phone is being restarting by it self when i try to use the wifi hotspot from the phone and i exchange the phone 3 times already so i dont think that will help

stock phone i just have one app install everything else came in the phone already

The problem is that the 30 day period expire already and i change the phone 3 times already so they might not exchange it

call htc you have 1 year warranty on the phone. they will ship you a new phone, just the phone and you will ship them yours back.

exactly my thoughts, if it's happening to 3 different phones it's likely an app that you're installing, uninstall that one app do a factory reset and see if it's still doing it. be honest is it a naughty app?????!!!! j/k

Mine has suddenly restarted simply playing Angry Birds. I just came from a TP2 running WinMo 6.5 meaning the restart is so much faster that I'm not even that annoyed. But I've only had this device less than a week so I'm sure if it happens too often, that will change.

Even before having those two apps still doing the same problem. With the first two phone was with the hotspot or the camera app or maybe when i unlock the ring it turn off by it self. the two apps i have is hotmail and drag racing

I did call them they told me they are not sending no phone i need to send my trought my phone carrier to get it fix

My only two annoyances

This phone is great!
Now with that out of the way let me move on to the point.
My only two annoyances so far is that the camera freezes sometimes and also when I use the pattern lock sometimes it spazes out and doesnt detect me holding down and sliding. Hard to explain but yeah.
I upgraded to a class 6 card and still get the issues occasionally. Is this likely software of hardware?
I never had this camera lockup. Did u take the OTA? Btw Im not sure about the puzzle lock, never used it before.

You might have a bad unit then. Camera's never locked up on me sp far and I took the OTA right after I got it.

Hmm...well I dont want to take it back and get a phone with a different prob...its not bad its just annoying. I figured it was software...maybe I will have to return it =/
I got this idea to turn the security off just to see and it seems like it fixed it....I cant see any link in security and the camera app but its working...for now. I might just be getting lucky I will use it some more and see if it freezes up any more.
Maybe you could try putting security on and then taking about 10 consecutive pics and see if you get a freeze? Also set it to lock immediately once you turn screen off.

Question? Are u synced with HTC hub?
Yes but while I was looking I noticed I was not syncing to HTC Sense for some reason. I turned it on.
The security thing is not the prob BTW it happened to me again just now with security off.
Why do you ask about HTC Hub?

Because I've had the same problem. I've done several factory resets. And I've come to realize for me it was HTC hub causing the issue for me. And the only way I was able to fix it was to do a factory reset and not sync with HTC hub at all and I haven't had a problem since.
Weird...if I dont sync with HTC hub I wont be able to get the flashlight app will I?

Just download one off the market they all work the same...

Yes I took the updates, but for some reason my phone doesn't like HTC hub
I tried to replicate this after reading about it here when I got mine took many pics in rapid session no problem at all even now after all the up dates .
If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d

The camera worked fine but video recording after about a minute or so that's when I had my freezing and reboots

My i, j and n keys are not working on my phone. I have tried 3 different keyboards and have tried typing in multiple apps and they are not working. I have tried restarting phone as well. Its like that thin vertical strip of those 3 keys of my screen is not working..

It's a known hardware issue that Verizon is well aware of. It's happened to me twice (on my 3rd Bolt) and they will replace it for free. All you have to do is call 611 and get a rep on the phone. Sucks...I know!

Are you sure about that? Also, I've had had my screen replaced before because I dropped it and it cracked and my phone is also rooted. So they will mail me one or can I go to a store and pick one up?

I'm 100% sure. I tried everything (Reflashed Roms, Tried various Keyboards, Unrooted, and still nothing...) the first time it happened to me. You'll notice if you go into landscape mode in the messaging app it'll work fine. The screen has deadspots on it. You have to call them and they will send you another one "next day" air and within that package, besides the "new" phone, they'll be return labels. Just unroot your device factory reset everything and ship it back.
I will call. use my phone for work everyday though and have to have it for work... Can I go to a store instead and get one you think?

You can try, but not sure that they'll come thru for ya. Best bet would be to hang in there until you have a day or two off then call so it doesn't impact your employment. And in the meantime use the phone in landscape mode for what you need it for.
Called customer service and this issue was not in there database. landscape mode isn't much better at all. If I go to store I have to unroot

Trust me it is...That rep was garbage. I thoroughly explained my situation both times and they new about it right off the bat. I'd call back...it's a manufacturer defect and they have to replace it for free.
What is current firmware of thunderbolt? If I unroot I have to be able to root again and is that rootable

Are you sure? If you're wrong I'm totally screwed. What will they try and "troubleshoot" over the phone? What if they ask for the software version and what I tell them is not the one they are looking for?

I'm positive...all they'll say is to factory rest blah, blah, blah...they shouldn't tho...the only way they'll know is if you tell them...a knowledgeable rep will know exactly the issue. It's a known issue period. Look on the Verizon website. It's on their site talking about it...Many other users have had the same exact issue on here and other forums...tell them whatever is the latest OTA...

Ok but what if they ask me what my current software version is? I obviously cannot tell them my rom one, they need whatever the current RUU # is right? Which is what? 2.11.605.19?
Yes it is. You can tell them you have rebooted your phone multiple times and factory reset as well. Tell them you have already gone through all the trouble shooting and it still is malfunctioning. It is a known issue with the bolt.

svoice down?

So I guess I do not kno how svoice works but it doesn't seem to be working for me anymore....
I tried "what's the weather like for today" it correctly shows the question, however takes a long time to process and comes back to say " no weather results, sorry"
Anyone else experiencing issues with svoice...I already tried deleting its data and restarting app no luck. it can do web searches but no weather at all

Did it just start for you guys today too? I dint have this happened before today.. thinking something was wrong led me to factory resets, reboots
same problem here (tmobile GS3). it worked yesterday morning then it quit working sometimes yesterday afternoon and its still not working. i wondering whats going on. i thought i was the only one having issues since i just rooted my phone lol

Well at least sounds like I'm def not alone... I will stop resetting things on my end.... wondering what's happened too...
Svoice is terrible nonetheless, It delays the home button (disable svoice and see the difference) it laggs way behind siri and has very limited capabilities. It would be adequate if you can use it when the phone is locked and can be used via headset. The major delay on the home button is a deal breaker itself to me

The first time I tried to get the weather from svoice was about a week ago with no problem. So I assume this is a network problem most likely that will be fixed on their end.

So ive been working on setting my phone back to how it was before I went ahead and reset everything thinking voice broke....I just gave voice another try seems to be back up...I will continue testing into tomorrow will update with what I find...

By resetting it, do you mean you went back to unrooted? Or just a stock rom?
By the way I'm running Bean's Custom Stock Rom on VZW and it's not working. I'm guessing it's just a server issue with the activation of so many new GS3's

Yesterday all the TV services were down.
Is this only affecting Verizon devices?
Could it be related to the updates surrounding the Siri debacle?
I highly doubt it's from the number of activations.

In my opinion, S Voice isn't terrible but it is behind Siri.
To have the home button respond faster just uncheck the 'launch S Voice by double clicking the home key' in the settings. You can also use S Voice when the phone is locked. Setup Wake up commands and you're set.

Resetting meaning factory stock.mine is not rooted. Hope it's temporary.
servers either on maintenance or simply too flooded by too many users trying to use s voice at the same time. mines been intermittent since yesterday

Lumia 920 Freezing - Any fix for this?

So I've only had my Lumia for 5 days but from day one it's been randomly freezing no matter what I'm doing, be it texting, web surfing, anything. I downloaded the software update and the problem persists. It happens several times per day and I have to soft reset which erases some of my settings, its totally annoying. Is there a fix for this or do I have a defective device?
Try a hard reset which unfortunately will wipe everything from your phone back to factory settings, If problem still persists then you definitely have a faulty device and should return it.
Set your highest data setting to 3G. This will disable LTE but for me it seems to solve the problem. Let me know if this works for you.

Sorry...disabling one of the best features of your phone to get it to work correctly is not solving the problem. You have a defective unit plane and simple

Yeah I'm sending it back tomorrow lol. I was just thinking the same thing. Nokia wanted me to remove skype cause they said that was causing it, then they said the facebook app was causing it. It's like ok, I have to disable Facebook, Skype, and IM+ to get it to work? What's the point of this damn phone? lol. Yeah my device is defective.

I know for a fact my device isn't defective because mine didn't start freezing until the portico update.

You missed my point. Disabling any stock feature of the phone to get it work properly is not a "fix", it's a bandaid. I stand by my statement...defective. Whether it be the hardware or software...still defective.

If you have a sim card that does not support LTE then yes it is a fix. However. I have also installed the portico update, 4G disabled and the phone went from never rebooting or freezing to reboot 2-3 times a day and at least 1 freeze.

Stock messaging app crashing

So, when i bought this phone i also picked one up for my mom and her texting app crashes quite a lot, the other day it even locked up the entire phone and we had to hard reset the phone? Any ideas to whats the culprit?

Yeah that was happening for me but I was rooted and unlocked. Just switched to handcent. No problems since

Hmm, i guess maybe it's just a random bug in some devices then, it's never done that on my phone and texting is one of the main things i do. I'll just have to get her to try a different messaging app.
