Activity name for non-Market apps - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm customizing all my icons and I have a Betfair app that is downloaded from their site. How do I find out the activity name for that one?

No one?

Easiest would be with root explorer, find the app in /data/app/ view it and open the AndroidManifest.XML.
Or extract the .XML using some zip archived and you'll be able to see the activity name.

Thanks for your answer! Is there any free app that can do the same thing? I don't have root explorer. My phone is not rooted, if that matters.

Can somebody give me the system files of one of these phones? I'd like to create a rom for X8 with xperia look and feel.
Do I need root to get these files? If not I can provide a copy.
I think you need root, but try to copy the system files with astro file manager.
Copy is busy, 1075 files and I didn't get any errors so far. Is going to sdcard for now, will zip it and see how I can give them to you.
edit: too quick. Got an exception permission denied on system/bin/run-as. Do you need a specific file? The error blocks the complete copy with astro.
I need the app, framework, media folders from system folder.
Ok I have the files ready. Just need to find a way to get them online now. Already archived on cell.

Use ES file explorer to open the file location and use an app like android to extract the apk. Then use a file editor like jota text editor to edit ur apk. Recompile the files using android again. Hope it helps.
Hit thanks if I have helped you in any ways.

You shouldn't modify apk in the phone because you can end up with force closes.
On PC of course.
Thanks buddy

How to create flashable zip to add line to build.prop ?

I want to create a little flashable zip that adds 1 line to my build.prop: "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1"
How would I do this?
There is a flashable zip in the dev section for enabling WiFi tether, you could just download that zip then use a program (7zip) to just update the script in the zip then flash it, probably the easiest way to do it

I tried these 3 files; settings.apk, secsettings.apk and secsettingsprovider.apk, did not change anything.

Thanks but i already changed secsettings.apk but it did not change. Maybe its reading icons, fonts from somewhere else.
Which folders did you change your icon in.. If you did it from res/drawable-xhdpi
Maybe change it in res/drawable-sw360dp-xhdpi
sent from here, there, somewhere!!

Zip problem

I got the apk file of whatsapp, and I renamed to .zip to extract the contents to change the icons by replacing them in the drawable-hdpi folder. Now the problem is that I zipped all the contents and renamed it to apk again but after this the file isn't getting installed (I have uninstalled whatsapp on my phone because we cannot replace it). Any suggestions??

You didn't really need to zip it, if you have a root browser, you can actually extract the apk, do what you wanted to do, and then compress it and change the file name from .zip to .apk.

What root browser are you using? If you are using root browser or root explorer, it shouldn't matter.

OK, extract it as APK, then go to the folder the apk was extracted, change the images or image, then compress, and change file extension (zip to apk). If not, you will have to use apktool.
