This is a WIP so forgive me for doing this in steps instead of all at once, I dislike anything from AT&T and Samsung being loaded on the phone, I am an average user that does not use my phone for business so anything like VPN / Exchange is not needed by me. I just like my phone as lean as possible while maintaining stability
Note: This list is from the latest ICS leak, and have been tested on my phone. I have not DELETED the APK's yet, but have them disabled either thru [Applications / All] or using Autostarts, and RomToolbox. Sorry for the rough layout of this list, I have the flu so expect typo's too.

I am with you, I hate the bloat I know I will not use and don't want it on my device. If you search in either the SGS-II forum or the Note forum you will find a spreadsheet that is also a good reference on what can be removed.

What he said! ^^^^^^ That list is fairly spot on.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
We need a verified list like that for Jelly Bean now, and we also need another list for Startup apps and services, that are safe to remove from Startup. Sometimes you don't need to uninstall an app that you occasionally use, but you certainly don't need it running and eating up resources each time the phone boots.
A great post !!
If i can get a few users too verify the list a few times, i'll add the thread as a resource to the "everything" thread.....
this would help out users a lot !!
thank you......g

Or not, your call, but thank you in advance......g
there are alot more apks that can be removed. i posted some in another thread awhile back. post number 7 and 8 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1767113 if you want to add to your list so they can all be in one place. also if you are trying to free up space there are more files that can be removed. in system/media/audio you can delete all extra ringtones, notifications, and alarms. i only have the one i use in each folder and i delete the entire ui folder since i dont like my phone making noise every time i press something. on cm roms there is a video folder in same location that i delete. i have never seen those videos run and are useless. and more i can list later when have time.
Sorry Guys,
As there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of interest in this project and as no one stepped forward to assist, I'm afraid I'm going to have to abandon this project.
Thanks for following.

OK Guys,
I've run into a bit of a brick wall and need some input from other developers. One of the required APKs from the Q needs a class not included along with my CM9 or Samsung stock roms. The class appears to be called "android.os.UpdateLock". So how do I go about ripping the class out of the Nexus Q rom and injecting it into CM9? Any help would be very appreciated!$!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello All,
The Project
I'm looking to embark on a project to rip out the cloud function from the Q and install it on any android device. I want the cloud streaming of "Google" music and movies without the $300 expense.
The Progress
As of today I have the Nexus Q Deodexed, ripped out several apk files including the Nexus Q "Launcher" HubBroker.apk. I've merged the apks along with the fonts and lib folders of /system and my Galaxy Tab now boots up and runs like a Q. Primary issue outstanding is, the Nexus Q app won't detect the "galaxy Q" through bluetooth. I assume that some functions of the Q are sitting either within the bluetooth libs or that the Nexus Q has a specific bluetooth address that the app needs to see before detection.
My next attempt will be to try taking apart the Nexus Q apk and either changing its bluetooth search criteria or removing it completely. Second to that if anyone out there has a Q and has it setup on their phone, I could use the /data/data folder to extract more information about how it works. Or even better if someone knows what config file is generated on the actual nexus Q when it's set up for that first time.
You can already do that on most android devices. The Q just takes it to the big screen conveniently.
The function of being able to control the Google queue of device A from device B, C, D etc does not exist. Or at least I'm not aware of an app that does that.
I believe that I've tracked down the apk that does it on the nexus but I need to deodex the apps and can't seem to find a tool that works. Anyone out there deodex this rom yet?

Would love to have this functionality in an APK for me Google TV. Don't see why it wouldn't work, well other then no bluetooth on the Revue....
Still very interested in this thread regardless of GTV. I will be following your progress. Thanks!
.
I'm looking for this as well.
I have 3 spare HTC EVO's, and they all have HDMI out. I would like to be able to just plug them into the TV and use my other phones to control them / play music / etc. Maybe even throw XBMC on them with the ability to control from another phone..
They're slower, and less memory..but it may be doable.
Did anyone dig into this? I'd like this for the latest port of Android for a Raspberry Pi and willing to do some of the (noob)stuff myself.
That would be awesome to use any HDMI equipped phone along with the Nexus Q functionalities. I'm really interested.
I guess the problem with the missing API is that the Nexus Q runs android JB and he tried with a cm9.

Not true, Q runs ICS...
Let me know...
what I can do to help. If you give me a run down on what you would like me to try as far as pulling files from the q or my connected devices just shoot me a PM and i'll give it a shot. I too would love to add this functionality to my spare devices laying around.
I've been interested in this since day one as well. IT is what has me almost ready to fork out the money on more then one occasion. I have a party coming up and it would be fun to have my N7 as the Jukebox.
The Class issue, I'm not sure about. Here is some info that might get it started.: http://www.itcsolutions.eu/2011/08/...te-a-new-activity-class-with-manifest-editor/
AND:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5012004/adding-a-new-class-to-android-project
It looks like it is something created with the app. Since you cut/pasted the apk into system it may not have been installed. But I'm thinking that it is something else. Some where in the android system lib's it is probably installed. Since this was a device dedicated to this purpose, they were able to install it into the system and the app calls it. I'm slowly learning to write apps (very slowly) so I am not sure beyond this, or even about this for that matter.
I do have a question. It looks like you pulled some system apps and put them in your galaxy tablet. I think a better test would be to basically replace all the /system contents of say a N7 (galaxy tab may work) with those from the Q. Then once it works, cut down the files until it stops. Then with a list of what is needed to make it work we could get down to the nitty gritty.
My guess is some more knowledgeable devs, like those who got Google Now working, would have a better idea.
I'd love to see a third party app do the jukebox function, I think a issue is license certificate (DRM) for the multiple users. I don't understand how the user is associated/authenticated for the music. One Question is if a user Ques up music then leaves does it cause that music to not be able to be played or will it still play once it's been que'd? My guess is the app just organizes the music/user who is next then when it's their turn it streams from their device in real time... but I'm really not sure about this.

Ok so here is some more detailed info for those of you still following the project.
HubBroker.apk is the app that is for all intents and purposes the "launcher" for the nexus Q. It will install on the Galaxy Tab and Nexus 7. It takes over your "home" and replaces it with a picture of the Nexus Q and a welcome sign. This app looks to be only the launcher as it doesn't do anything if you tap on it. Also having the app running doesn't allow the Nexus Q app (from your phone) to find the device.
So I assume that that the Q is controlled via bluetooth to get it setup and running. Including configuring the Wifi, network settings, etc. Oddly enough the app does send a request to android system to turn on the bluetooth and changes the bluetooth device name to Nexus Q.... The ... part is a odd string of characters that I assume is used in case you happen to have multiple Nexus Q's.
Now as just having the app doesn't seem to work (Phone finding the Q). I've replaced all the bluetooth libs with the ones from the Q. Still nothing. I've migrated all the other APK files and then I get FCs all over, and still no connection. I haven't tried replacing the whole system yet, but I assume the hardware differences would be to great. The only other piece of the puzzle I have yet to attempt it merging the kernels or at least the init parts of the kernel relating to bluetooth.
If you have any questions though let me know. I've been up and down this thing.
Why don't we just flash the img on an old phone and see if that works?

For that to work we'd need to get a device with similar hardware (CPU, Chipset, etc.) Not only that but it would need to have the same MTD setup unless I'm mistaken.
Actually I'm going to give that a try with the nexus 7. I'll let you know what happens, won't be till tonight though.

The reviews on the Play store indicate that you may have just purchased a pile of crap.
5 reviews, 2 1-star, 2 4-star, 1 3-star. Only one review is in English basically stating that this app does little more than basic text editing.
Sorry, you may want to try Quickoffice (it is free and owned by Google).

i don't know about version in play store, but the Hancom Office preinstalled in Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is really great. Very similar to MS Office, interface optimized for touchscreens, no problems with .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .rtf with pictures. Easily opens 90mb powerpoint presentations.
So please share apk if you have these models.

I found a file extracted from new 12.2 tablet, with 6 apks in them (3 viewers, one share, one says launcher, last one says widget). PM me, I'll send you the link. I couldn't get them working on rooted 10.1. Simple install didn't work. Moving them into system\app didn't help. There may be a check built in, to check the model number.

Yes same results. Perhaps a compatible version is on its way. From what I could tell running the windows version it was superior to other such Office clones. A key indicator is that it worked with check boxes embedded in a document as well as conditional formatting. Can't wait to give up my surface pro for a better experience (lighter, thinner, longer battery, no windows 8.1).
Hancom office video review. Though it is in Russian, but major features are shown, and it works quite good.

Got Hancom Viewer working on my Note 8 - 4.2.2. Nothing special nut works....
But main office from the dump wont work as - "HancomOffice_Shared.apk" is just for install, not launch even no sources there...some ôshared" smali inside...
"eMeeting_HANCOM.apk" is the main app to get office to work - it is Samsungized inside the app with all sources needed - but API 19 so no go for me to try on my current setup.

Here are the files from the dump needed to get run the viewer functions. No flashable zip - put files manually into system as it is in the file.
Launcher works, couple of files pdf, xls, xlsx i tried to view it worked - view only!!!
It looks like also editing functions and all sources are in those "viewer" aps itself, but Samsung probably do not allow to launch Hancom from "HancomOffice_Shared.apk" - in order to get editor suite to work(check AndroidManifest of both apks - one is INSTALL_ONLY!!)
- but "eMeeting_HANCOM.apk" its manifest states to get Hcell, Hword launched. If someone more skilled with some more time as i have could try to edit "HancomOffice_Shared.apk" in order to install and launch the Hcell, Hword - they both have almost identical "shared" smalis inside but eMeeting has some more Samsungized sources for some kind of e-colaboration/meeting sources.

No No, it is possible to run, actually eMeeting is not needed and it is only one apk for KK.
Hancom will probably offer that app to everybody on the market - so lower android versions should work as well.
It looks like this Sammy version is a bit dependend on that widget.apk that is forcing MagazineUX layout to that widget - widget is displayed in my drawer of NOVA L. but actually does nothing - it should load recents docs etc....probably because of MagUx i also can not see single icons of Hcell, Hword like in that video review....
Those single viewers apks have also editor functions inside - when decompiled you can see.
I was able to rework that widget to launch in normal "hancom" widget style that will be probably be there for everyone else who buys it - i was able to see those 3 editor icons to launch (Hcell, Hword...) - but actually i just got a dialog window that said something like "We need to donwnload something from Hancom servers" and was doing nothing. There is also version check - i did not tried to rename my device to be NotePro in b.prop like i was doing with some other versions of Polaris Office in order to run another devices version on other.
I am not going to play with it anymore - i ll just buy it when available probably for cheaper than time spent with this. I am not that good at this - just posted if somebody better skilled might have a look. It looks nice from the review but probably will be same crap - will stick with Polaris+Kingsoft.

As was said above, Hancom requires Android API level 19 which is 4.4. We're on 4.3. Until that changes nothing much is going to happen. And who knows, depending on Samsung's licensing deal/costs with Hancom maybe we'll be thrown a bone and receive it in our update to 4.4/M-UX.
Any chance of rooting/CM ROM to 4.4 or will Samsung updates break?

Ready for a Samsung Galaxy S4 system dump and a chance to play with all of the goodies it contains? The folks over at SamMobile received one and have already begun pulling out apps for you to install. First up is the newest version of S Voice, the Siri-like voice actions application that was first introduced with the Galaxy S3. It’s still powered by Nuance’s Vlingo, so it’s certainly no Google Voice Search. But hey, if you like talking to your phone and found older versions of S Voice to be of use, feel free to give this new one a shot.
You’ll be able to voice dial, create memos, schedule appointments and tasks, set alarms or timers, ask “what the weather is like,” and find local listings to the best restaurants. From what I can tell, nothing has really changed, other than the S Voice icon. Pro S Voice users, feel free to tell me what I’m missing.
Download Link
Once it finishes downloading, install as you would any sideloaded app. If you are installing on a Galaxy Star, it should install

Introduction
I've been working on a project to incorporate Amazon's Alexa into an Android application as a standalone. It started as an Android TV project, and then got ported over to Android mobile. This weekend I finally got the project to work on Android Wear, so now you can speak to (and listen, if you have speakers or connected Bluetooth speakers) Alexa from your wrist. Because I only have access to an LG G Watch, for the moment, I would love to hear any feedback you all have on issues you find or how you think the project can be made better. The more Wear hardware that it's tested with, the better.
Download
You can get the app here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.willblaschko.android.alexalistens or download the APK from the Android TV link above.
More Details
If you want to read a little more about the code behind the implementation, I've done a write up for the TV/phone app here and will be putting together a piece on the Wear app.
Thanks!
Do I need to have an Alexa unit in order for this to work?
Great app, thanks. Ran into a persistent crash issue quickly though. If I uncheck the "Android Wear Preferences"->"Play on mobile" option and try anything from my Huawei watch it shows a message on the phone saying that Alexa Listens has crashed and it does not work. If I leave the option checked it works fine especially where I can hear the voice response on my phone, it was pointless to hear the response from the mobile also which is why I wanted to disable it.
is there a link for a version of this that will install on KitKat? this app looks exciting and I tried downloading earlier apk versions of this app but just get the "error parsing package" pop-up ... really want to try it out but upgrading from android 4.4 on my note 3 probably isn't gonna happen ... this looks awesome thanks
still really excited to try this. i have a Huawei Watch and my phone is Samsung galaxy note 3 on android 4.4 ... my note 3 hasn't exploded yet so I can't risk an upgrade to a newer android version but still really want to try your app!
Wow, this is great. Good work!
oh man this looks like something I really really want ... does anyone know how to alter the apk so I can install this on a Samsung note 3 with android 4.4.2? (modifying build.prop didn't work)
Enjoying the possibilities with this app. I have it on a oneplus 3 with a Huawei Watch. When it works it is great, but quite often from the watch it will not respond. I can then go into settings on the phone app and deactivate the always on listener then reactivate it. After that it works from my watch again for a while... until it doesn't and I have to do the deactivate/reactivate all over again. Any ideas?
works perfect for me, Voice response and all. But i was wondering could u add the option for the mic to auto listen on launch? as oppose to having to click the mic when u want to talk to it, would make it easier to use without all those screen taps

also this app literaly breathes NEW LIFE into my huawei watch, this feature alone single handly makes my android watch a must have, " Turn off lights " on the wrist and " request a uber" a is exactly what the google claimed the android watch would be bale to do, but until this app was unable to do
Works well, thanks for this. I did remove it but for some reason it still shows up on the watch even though it is not on the phone. Any idea why?
Hi will,
thanks for the great app, I really love it! I just picked up an Asus Zenwatch 3 and this is a Must-Have
As I'm using it quite often now, I tought I should share my experiences.
The ZW3 comes with two mappable buttons, I put Alexa Listens on one of those, that's really convenient. I'd love if Alexa would listen automatically after starting the App, I think this would be a nicer UX.
Alexa Speech Output has some minor flaws. I did some German Skills, which I used for testing. One replies with SSML - audio and speech afterwards (e.g. on Echo Dot), Alexa Listens only plays the audio (but this could be a flaw in my Skill too).
When Alexa isn't understanding my input, there's no real feedback, it just remains silent (or maybe I'm missing something). Echo Dot usually replies with "I didn't understand that" or similar, that's nicer.
@will.blaschko You aren't open sourcing this, are you? Personally, I'm a huge fan of TuneIn on all devices - I'd love to write the player support for the app, just to get it
Thanks again for the great app!
Working on a new version now, so hopefully that'll be available soon --including support for UK/DE.
If you want to look at the source that powers most of the app: https://github.com/willblaschko/AlexaAndroid
New version is in the Play Store, I can post here as well if you want .

Hello!
(Please Forgive my not so good English!),
I use this awesome Skill/App now for a couple of weeks, and it is exactly what I'm looking for, but I have a little Problem!? - I have a Sony-Smartwatch-3, and after Using the App on it, the App starts/reopens itself again and again!? - I must everytime make a Reboot on the Smartwatch to solve this!
Please take a look at it!
Thanks!
RoseL.
Listener Sensitivity!
Hello!
The App is Awesome, but far to Sensitive!? I have Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S (LTE) with Stock-Android-6.0.1 rooted, and the App reacts all few Seconds!? When I set "Not Sensitive" in the Sensitivity-Options, I can Yell, but the App don't reacts at all, and when I set "Normal", it reacts all the time all few Seconds!? Can You Please add a Possibility to set the voice-sensitivity in percent!? Or a Option between "Not Sensitive" and "Normal"!? I really want to use this App every Day, and I will Donate to, but how it is now, a cannot use it, because it reacts not at all, or every few seconds!?
Thanks!
Problem installing app
Hi I tried to install this app on my Zenwatch 3, however, if I go to the app-store, it says the app is not compatible. What am I doing wrong?
