SoulCraft beta is out for Tegra 3 devices
https://market.android.com/details?id=de.mobilebits.soulcraft
interesting game, mind you though it is beta and I'm sure there are bugs and problems but i haven't had any yet
it doesn't give you to many instructions so you kinda have to figure it out yourself
it kinda reminds me of Diablo a little bit
give it a shot
JB out
Thanks for the heads up. Should be on my Prime when I get home.
I tried it out Very briefly. I didn't like it. It wasn't what I thought. I didn't like the way you shoot/use your weapon. seemed very tedious and not practical the way you fight the wave of monsters. Plus I couldn't tell a difference playing online vs. offline. Some of the spells and special powers you use are cool. I ran into some bugs. The controls kept freezing up and I couldn't move. then other times I could move but my weapon button didn't want to work. In the heat of the action the game kept pausing although I never pressed pause button. it came from the attack button.
Overall the game has potential but seems more like a tegra2 game. Hence the reason description says either tegra2 or tegra3 can play it. This was not optimized for tegra3. The top down view of everything doesn't really do this game any justice graphics wise.If the graphics are nothing to get excited over then it better have some killer gameplay. The loading screens looked cool and made you think you in store for something big. I personally couldn't get into enough. Seemed tedious having the monsters just all swarm you. Alot of things need to be done to make this game better. Make gameplay go smoother and possibly zoom up the came more to show more details of the scenery and action. Main thing is changing the way you attack. Having to hold button down and arrow pointing to where you shooting is too much and adds to clutter of screen. This is a beta though so I'm sure it'll get alot better and major things will be changed/improved.
I agree. Game play is kinda meh. I was expecting more out of it. It also stuttered from time to time. I think its more for tegra 2 devices since I dont experience the stutter on my acer a100. Either way I wouldnt buy this game.

Pretty Much had this same experience last night. The combat was downright akward but it was 1 in the morning. will try it again today.
I'be been playing t on nd off since the hour it was released. Its not that bad, but needs to be optimized or Tegra 3.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
I actually enjoyed it (Only played the first couple of levels).
Needs more work, but had some fun. I agree, the combat wasn't exactly what I expected and could be improved upon.
At this stage, with 1 Tegra3 tablet in existance (and supply still extremely low), I don't think many companies will see the benefit of making Tegra 3 exclusive games. Hopefully with time.
Pretty dissapointing for such a hyped up game... To me its just another skinned gun bros game with bad graphics...
So far I'm pretty dissapointed with all tegra 3 games.
Shadowgun thd, tegra 3 version is choppy at times exp during boss fights.
Motogp thd, tegra 3 version is randomly choppy during races.
Even samurai 2 has the usual choppyness at the start of each level (I suppose its loading animations, but still wtf).
Hopefully it will get some real games soon that can atleast compete with ipad 2.
And what's with asus changing specs every month? First tegra 3 was a quad 1.5ghz, then 1.4 and now their adverising it as 1.3...
I bought mine when it was 1.4 but according to setcpu and other system information tools it is clearly only 1.3ghz quad core...

1.4 when using one core and 1.3 using up to 4 cores.
They better hide the back n home button. While playing if you hit any of those, you get booted off. No quick resume

Same here...along with Glowball no longer working, Siegecraft is very buggy as well. Oh and all my benchmark scores have decreased as well and battery life isnt great anymore as i was getting 12-15 hours with no charge and now I can only get about 8...what happened...Im seriously thinking of reverting back to HC until I hear some good news with ICS.
I was excited to see this beta come out, I remember watching the youtube video of its amazing graphics and all of its potential.
I could not have been any more disappointed.
The graphics quality seems high in terms of polygon count, but the textures look low res and the "jagged edges" on the models make it painful to look at.
It isnt very responsive to fast movements either, in fact it struggles to keep up. Far from fluid. There is definitely a ton of optimization to be done, so it may look much better closer to release.
The gameplay itself is best described as clunky and cumbersome. The whole idea of the charging weapon attacks just doesn't feel right.
Kiting mobs on a boss level is a pain because you get caught on nearly every object; and they throw weapons constantly so if you get stuck on something you get wailed on.
Inventory/Character screen needs retooling to be more intuitive and easier to use.
Also, I don't support free-to-play-but-pay-to-enjoy business models. It often means an unpleasant experience for users who don't want to spend $50 on a game. I would rather drop $5-$10 for a full featured game.
Strange, on ICS, GTA III and Glowball work absolutely perfectly.

Which version? 2? 2HD? What model did you download it for?
please answer!
Man these forums are dead =\
I've tried most of Gameloft's portfolio, and I've experimented with versions for many different devices. Unfortunately, even if they do run, they don't seem to run correctly. I've been using the HD versions, and they all run in a very small area in the middle of the screen. It seems that Gameloft has a bit of work to do on the optimization front. They just got around to optimizing most of their catalog for the Galaxy Tab 7, and they are starting to optimize some games for the Xoom, so we should be seeing some of their more popular games within a few weeks. If you're looking for high quality games, you should download the Tegra zone app and check out the games in there. I can say from experience that Riptide GP, Gun Brothers, and Galaxy on Fire 2 are amazing.
Gameloft's Asphalt 6 HD works fine too
No issues with the game on GT10.1
-Asphalt 6 is good. Theres quite a few cars, it's not really much different than Asphalt 5 though.
-N.O.V.A. HD kinda worked. It FC'd too much to play though and the controls were badly messed up.
-Modern Combat 2 boots up through the video at the beginning, but crashes instantly after.
-Spider Man also FC's alot like N.O.V.A. If it didn't FC as much as it does it would be alright.
I'll update this list as I try more, but so far it is just a ton of failure except for Asphalt 6. The graphics were fine.

I agree with your suggestions, but I don't know if Riptide is worth the money. It only has like 4 tracks and then it does all of the tracks in reverse and they all look the same.

Yeah, that's true, $7.00 for 6 tracks is a bit overpriced. The graphics are nice, if not a bit boring, but the other games are quite awesome. I also like Cordy, Apparatus, and I'm really looking forward to a few of the upcoming games in the tegra zone. Arma II looks awesome, Trainz Simulator (if reasonably priced) might be fun, and I'm just waiting for Monster Madness to launch.
Was on engadget today and saw that rockstar is going to release GTA 3 for the following devices.
Apple iOS Devices: iPad 1 & 2, iPhone 4 & 4S, iPod touch 4th Generation
Android Phones: HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, T-Mobile G2x
Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive
Think we have a shot or not enough power?
We definitely don't have enough power because we can barely run any of the higher end games (shadowgun) I'm sure that well be able to get it running, but probably terribly. Also this game doesn't even have that great of graphics... just bad optimization

Shadowgun runs fine for me on one of the later nightlies overclocked to 1.2ghz. I also have GangStar running with no issues to.

GT racing, Asphalt 6, Modern Combat 2, Sacred Odyssey all run great for me. That being said with Gameloft already having Gangstar (which runs great BTW) there isn't much need for an actual GTA. GTA3 might be worth it if there was a way to put the Real GTA mod on it.
fine, fine maybe shadowgun was a bad example but what about 9mm, riptide, fast five, dungeon defenders, etc. those don't even force you to have a dual core device... remember we're pushing 1024x600(thats 614,400) pixels of 3D on old hardware... also I'm not so sure about the definition of "it runs fine" these days. Some people seem to convince themselves that things run great when they're not (myself included)

How did you get the crosshair in the middle, the damage indication, and the dragable looking area to fill the whole screen??? I've tried tons of different versions to no avail I've even looked at your thread and used the version listed to no avail. thanks in advance
yea gangstar makes gta3 look kind of dated.
I did notice a bunch of slowdowns trying high quality games on my Nook however a second later I noticed I was running on the conservative governor and facepalmed myself.
Switched to performance governor and everything was a breeze...
One way or another, we won't know until it's released, right?
I wouldn't be surprised if it runs. The NC is a little gem. That said, how is it going to playable on a touchscreen? And... an honest question... is GTA III really that fun? I just picked it up in a steam pack and it didn't take too long for me to move onto Vice City (and then stop playing that a little while later). It'll probably be more impressive to run on a phone/tablet but it felt like an early tech demo compared to a lot of "modern" games.

The entire screen is bound to controls, take a look at the picture of it on engadget... its a little overwhelming
Touchscreen controls urgh...
I still pair a PS3 Controller via Bluetooth every time I play PS1 / N64 games on my Nook... I really hope they add Bluetooth Controller support to the game.
Yeah, having real controller support would be nice. I did see the screenshots, and it's just really hard to play games with a virtual d-pad and even just *two* buttons (to me), let alone 6 or 8, especially when it includes what are supposed to be shoulder buttons.
On a side note, I mucked around a little with the onlive app, and that suffers from the same thing (the virtual controls). That said, OnLive does have newer, more compelling games, although it requires a constant, good data connection.
Nook Color seems to me to be able to push Dreamcast level graphics at 1024x600. Most games with that level of graphics seem to run at around 20-30fps at best.
The main reason GTA3 is so much more demanding than seems reasonable is that it's a sandbox game with a large, open world. It's not all that much different than say Elder Scrolls.
Game is out now and market says it should work on the NC. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rockstar.gta3 Anyone got it to work?
It hangs Nook dead rght after intro movies. CM 7.1.0 Stable.
With chainfire nvidia plugin, screen stays black upon launching the app
soooo I take it as a no go. Darn. Well it works on my electrify but as stated earlier the controls take up way to much room. I'll try a wiimote I guess.
Anyone have any luck getting this to run? Would think it would be possible to and to control it with a PS3 controller connected via bluetooth.
Got it to work! Download GTA 3 version 1.1, use chainfire 3D and set default plugin to POWERVR, awful cellphone video below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKN9QRGq09E
EDIT: Will test more in the morning, jump to 1:00 to see 30 seconds of "gameplay" before I flip the car
why do we have to use the powervr plugin? nook color actually has a powervr gpu
I didnt need any plug in. I installed CM7 last night and gta was in "my apps" and it runs better than on my shift. Lol

I'm sure most of you have seen the game demo's shown on the Prime, including Riptide, Shadowgun, Glowball ...etc, I am yet to see Tegra games such as the following:
Galaxy on Fire 2 - this should look amazing!
Shine Runner - hoverboat racing
HISTORY Great Battles Medieval - this was first tested on the nvidia quad-core reference tablet, which revealed how smooth a strategy game like this could be played
Zen Pinball - funky twist on pinball
Vendetta Online - another space game, but centred around MMO
Bang Bang Racing
Dark Meadow - another game to look forward to. Good visuals and an interesting storyline
I really hope other gaming company's head towards Android development in the near future, the mear fact that there are thousands of roms for various emulators and can be played with a ps3/xbox remote is a huge +
However I would like to see more PC like games possibly ported onto Android, for example Homeworld/Homeworld Cataclysm, Command & Conquer series, Half-life/Portal series, Borderlands...to name a few. I'm not sure where the community stands on this type of development, I'm sure it's not an easy task, but it has to be possible as it would grab alot of interest. I'm not saying necessarily the brand new releases, but at least some of the classic's that we know and love which would be ideal for some mobile gaming.
Just a thought, but share your ideas and suggestions
Porting from x86 environment (PC) is not an easy thing. And good games need good controls, even though we are at the point where gamepads are finally supported i dont think devs can make games that depend on it. So alot of games wont really work with touchscreen controls.
I think the best thing we can do if we want good games is pay for the ones that will come out on tegra3, so the companies make some money out of it.
And if you count alle the Tegra2+Tegra3 games + gameloft + other companies + emulator you get alot of good games already available. This Tablet is not thought as a replacment for my Desktop gaming pc.
Get onlive app and you can play all the great pc games.

NVidia has collaborated with a lot of game development teams (as you can see in most games credits), and Asus is the manager of the "Republic of Gamers" community. It should be time for them to push the developers to create good Android games. Anyway, a good game usually means more than a year of development. Providing how long has been Android alive, and how long has it been a smooth enough OS... my guess is game developers will start moving towards it but games will take its time to come.

I'm hoping for a Torchlight or Torchlight 2 port or version that works it's way to Android because I feel Action RPG would work great on a touch screen and since Torchlight has a netbook mode I feel it would run awesome on Tegra 2-3.
I'm also interested in Onlive but I'm concerned about bandwidth because I have a 6mb DSL connection and my wife and kids use netflix as the primary source of TV. I guess I could head over to evil charter but then the price doubles...
Anyway, I feel that we will get some AAA titles for android in 2012 and it will spike even further from there... I expect some good augmented reality games and some 3d action from Nvidia as well. =)

When Google merges Chrome into Android it should get much better. At least we would get Bastion. I see Android on the forefront on games on mobile device with stuff like Tegra, but with different capabilities per device there is not much incentive to make a really spectacular game that only runs on a few devices.

Yes!! I got Onlive on my Prime and used my Wiimote. Very awkward and had to download the wiimote conroller app. I plan to get the Onlive contoller or get a wireless controller.
The new Batman looka amazing on the Onlive app! I had no lag either. I got 1 month FREE Player pack Bundle, which is normally $9.99. with a promo code from Chevy. Awesome app.
Riptide gp looks incredible on the prime and is fun to play. The tegra 3, does make a difference.

The games you mentioned are OK. The highlights are Dark Meadow and the Pc games you listed. I'm looking for more hardcore oriented games now. I had ShineRunner on iPad. It was cool but same ol really. Riptide much better although same people make it. I'm getting tired of the kiddy oriented simple games. Bring Metro 2033 or Batman Arkham city. Or would love to see some over the top FPS, maybe something from Broken Sword series, or maybe a tegra3 version of Dead Space.
Like you said, a really good, in depth game will take at least a year to develop. Only thing is with as fast as these tablets come out with newer, more powerful hardware, the development has to be shorter. Unless made in advance to run on future hardware specs also. Until I seen OnLive, I've been sleeping on PC games. I was always more of console type gamer. I cant front though, the games I've seen for Pc are sick as a Mofo on OnLive. PC versions of console games usually better or better graphics n extras. Mobile platform gaming needs more hardcore oriented games. Games that take a good amount of time to beat. Has to be more in depth. I'd love for Bethesda to make an Elder scrolls version for us. I miss playing that game. I had it when it came out for xbox one, the Morrowind version.
I think OnLive may be our only access to these type of gsmes till developers start producing these type games. ShadowGun is cool but I have it for iPad n just about beat it. I need more than that. Bladeslinger looks cool but very similar to infinity blade, which I have infinity blade 2 already. I want more games like Dead Space. That game is very well put together n always scare the sh€£ outta me when playing. That's how into I be, especially when playing with headphones on. I understand a tablet is supposed tp be pick up n go type device, but we need a more I intimate gaming experience. For some people, this tablet will be the only form of gaming they have. Like me. I no longer have console systems. My iPad is my sole device to fulfill my gaming desires. I have all the best games, IMO. So along with being a productivity device, I hope the Prime can continue my love of gaming also. I know IOS has way more games, but I have e feeling the tegra3 will open doors to some serious games to come. We need more unreal and doom3 type engine powered gsmes. Those usually produce the best visuals and gameplay. I like the more simple games also but I'm really looking for games to really make you think and put up a great challenge..

I know right. I love those type action/horror games. I've never had a game like dead space scare me so much before..lol..n I loved it. Just looking for more engaging games that really pull you into the experience.

This was also said about Tegra3:
- Sébastien Deguy, CEO and Founder at Allegorithmic
“Tegra 3’s quad-core processor and 12-core GPU allows developers to port PC and console game titles using BitSquid Tech for the same great experience on any device. From a hard-core gamer’s customized PC to a phone or tablet with Tegra, you’ll get identical game play and buttery smooth graphics, anywhere any time."
- Benjamin Lee, Managing Director at Blowfish Studios
”Thanks to Tegra 3′s fantastic GPU performance we were able to use the same quality textures in Zombie Driver THD as on the PC. The outstanding quad-core CPU performance makes it possible to support Tegra game development in parallel to other high-end platforms.”
Some more details:
The GPU is also significantly more powerful than the Tegra 2 GPU, with up to 3x performance, while also adding other graphics features such as dynamic lighting, which they say no other current mobile GPU has that. Dynamic lighting makes for much more realistic environments and gaming experiences.
The game developers working on Tegra 3 games say that the 4 CPU’s help a lot with in-game damage effects, animated textures, weather effects and so on. So don’t be surprised if games made for Tegra 3 actually look better than other games made for other GPU’s, even if those GPU’s manage to get higher score in synthetic benchmarks (I’m looking at you A5/PowerVR SGX543Mp2).
Now this is very promising details!

Hey xda-ers
I've been on the cm9 beta for a little while now and it seems like there are a lot of games that work quite well in the alpha and some that are a screen-tearing, frame-dropping mess. So I have the idea to start up this thread, a thread primarily dedicated to sharing which games work really well on cm9. I personally will be posting review sort of things on here that go quite in-depth but you guys can post in however much detail you want. You can post about the hardest of hardcore games to the easiest of casual games but as long as its relevant it will hopefully be appreciated. I do want to have a couple of rules for this thread and they're as follows:
*No bashing other peoples reviews or opinions- everyone is entitled to their own opinion and while I'm ok with a respectful discussion I don't want flame wars in here.
*Please keep it relevant to cm9- this thread is about _cm9_ gaming, I don't care if you go and make a gaming thread for a different rom but I don't want posts about cm7 or MIUI in here.
*have fun- don't feel obligated to post something if you don't want to. Try to have fun in here and I'll try to too.
Well thanks guys I hope we can all help each other find some good games to play, please follow the rules and hopefully this will be a nice thread to be in.
Help make this community a little nicer guys!
Thanks
-Silente

Well I'll be kicking things off!
My first recommendation/review:
Dungeon Defenders: Second wave
Overview-
Dungeon defenders is a mix between a tower defense fantasy game and a traditional 3d RPG. The main premise is that the kingdoms heroes have gone off to defeat some great evil and have left their kids to guard the castle. In each area/map there is an eternia crystal that you have to set up towers and traps and such to defend from the waves of monsters.
Gameplay-
Gameplay is mainly governed by one of four classes each with their own play styles and pros/cons.
The apprentice-
The long ranged, magic user who places down towers that shoot long range projectiles.
The apprentice is the easiest class to use and is by far the best for beginners as his towers are the easiest to start off with and his skills are easy to understand and use.
The huntress-
The long ranged, assassin class.
The huntress wields either a crossbow or gun that deals long ranged damage and places down traps that activate when stepped on by monsters. The huntress can be somewhat hard to use due to her slightly less straightforward traps.
The squire-
The close ranged tank.
The squire combines melee attacks with brutal close ranged towers to destroy enemies quickly up close.
The Knight has some of the best starter towers in the game but he is at somewhat of a disadvantage without teammates to back him up due to his only close range play style.
The monk-
The all around skillful class.
The monk combines the first three classes in a Jack of all trades sort of play style. He has a melee attack as well as a long ranged magic attack with towers that deal different affects when stepped on by enemies. He is definately the hardest class to play due to his lack of a prominent skill and towers that need some getting used to and upgrades to really learn how to use effectively.
So once you've chosen a class its time to jump into the game.
There's a helpful tutorial that you can jump into but its not a super complicated game at first. Each map is made up of different rounds. At the end of each round chests will appear with Mana in them, the currency you use to build towers and buy or upgrade things after the round has ended. You also get mana from killing the various mobs that spawn throughout the wave. You also earn xp that goes towards level ups that let you carry more mana and unlocks new towers for you to build. Also when you level up you can attribute skill points to different skills such as player or tower damage, health, speed etc etc. Monsters also drop random items which you can equip or sell in between rounds.
After the round is over you can buy and sell weapons and armor, and upgrade you currently have equipped. The sheer number of weapons and upgrades you can apply to them makes it easy to make sure no two are the same.
Multiplayer-
The multiplayer element of this game is WHERE ITS AT! This game really shines through and its super easy to jump into a match and start playing as long as you have a good internet connection (which at time of writing I didn't). All you need to do is sign up for a game spy account which while can sometimes be a hassle keeps the hackers and cheaters out and keeps the fun consistent. Once you've made that account you can quick join a game or open up a server browser to pick between maps, difficulties and game modes. Once you join its smooth sailing and the different classes are very well designed to overlap and coordinate together in the multi player game modes. If you can get several friends to get this you will have a great time indeed.
Controls-
There aren't too many options for the controls but overall they're not too bad. The way to move your character is to rotate the wheel-ish joystick in the left portion of the screen. That controls both movement and direction mind you so it might take a little bit to get used to but once you do its just fine. Its hard to describe exactly how to use it because I've never seen another control scheme like it. The buttons around the other edges of the screen control other movement controls such as jumping or attacking, as well as selecting what towers to build (actual placement is done through touch input) or what abilities to activate or spells to cast. The game defaults to having the actual movement touchpad being invisible but that seems really stupid so I recommend turning that off in the settings. So while not completely perfect the controls are definately usable and should be relatively easy to learn for most users.
Graphics/Performance on cm9-
The game has a graphics slider that allows you to go from HD crisp graphics to blurry pixelated retro goodness. On the highest graphics setting the screen tearing really sets in but on lower resolution on the slider you can get very good performance on cm9. Overall it performs quite well with no hw accel and it will only get better once we get full acceleration.
Verdict-
Overall this game offers up some great RPG game play mixed in with some tower defense elements and kick ass multi player. The controls are manageable and if you want to have some long term fun, (as you can go quite in depth) this is a great choice and for a free game it couldn't be a better deal. I'd recommend it to any Android gamer and its a great game.

Love the idea of this thread
I'd love to contribute but I've found that with cm9 I haven't been able to find most of my favorite games on the market
Yeah, that's a problem, although most of them would run. Try using Apk leecher on your PC and then side loading them. Might work, but I'm not sure if you can download paid apps even if you've bought them.

One thing that doesn't work is using three fingers to access the menu. I get around this by opening up the recent apps thing and closing it, which then pauses the game, opening the menu.
Also, swiping to slow down/speed up the game does not seem to work as well.
Draw Something, Angry bird's, Sonic CD and Plants vs Zombies work great
Unfortunately my favorites don't show up and I'd love to test them
Shadowgun, FIFA 12, Modern Combat 3, Asphalt 6, Riptide GP, and NOVA 2

Yeah, I've been considering getting sonic CD, are the controls any good? As that's kind of important in a sonic game.

I loved it beat it in one night lol
I find all games I've played so far worked well especially Cut the Rope experiments. My only complaint was that play store didn't work for me I don't know if that's a known problem but felt it should be mentioned. Though back on topic the games I've tried so far play smooth.
Can some one confirm list of Gameloft working on CM9?

With the default cm9 build.prop the gameloft games dont work. I'll try modifying mine to look like a Droid 3 (which worked fine for cm7) and get back to you on that. I'll also mention their performance too. If I get the chance to DL the big-ass game data.

For the device not conptable message, you can edit the build.prop, I w able to get it to work on cm7 by spoofing a droid3. Dunno about cm9 though.

Haven't changed my build.prop because no one has said it is OK to do so as of yet nor what i would change. I like the play store recognizing the nook as a tablet as well
You know... it's funny. Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, mupen64plus emulator, ran with amazing speed in CM7. However the video and colors were kinda bad. Like buttons just looked weird, and sometimes there would be random squares.
HOWEVER. On CM9, the video and graphics are superlative. However, it lags obviously. Not TOO much... I mean it's definitely playable, but if you are fighting Gannondorf it's kind of annoying. Hopefully rebellos will get this kind of thing working for us.
Good evening ladies and gents.
I'm about to jump off the fence and buy a new phone (and since I'm posting here I guess you've figured that I'm seriously considering the S3). But before I choose I want to know which games I can expect to be able to play. I stumbled onto the Tegra Zone a few months after I bought my Desire HD and was quite disappointed that it didn't support the content. I know the S3 doesn't have Tegra but stil a lot of the games are still supported/available.
I've now read through dozens of threads but I'm unable to find out how one figures out which games the S3 can run. In some cases I see thats it's just the "ultra high" setting that isn't supported (1. is this correct?). 2. Is there a different version of most games that are meant for non-Tegra devices or is it the exact game but some of which lack the highest graphics settings? Lastly: 3. Are there any games that S3 owners won't be able to play in the foreseeable future?
I would really appreciate input to any of my questions. Have a good day/night
It runs Mali-400 games and if you decide to Root just install Chainfire 3D and you can run most Tegra and any other games.
Gaming is very good. Thats all i have to say
Sorry i couldnt be of more help.
Have u tried looking on the playstore? With a friends phone or on the web page. Google searched? There is a thread about good ganes in the s3

S3 can play anything but Tegra3 Specific games, there is an app made by Chainfire it's called "Chainfire3D" where it emulates all different graphic chips in the market, so basically you can play all non-tegra and tegra games that aren't Tegra3 specifc as mentioned above. The app needs root in order to work. Dead trigger is the latest game to come out and it plays VERY nice and smooth. Shadowgun tegra2 version works, Pinball THD, Fruit Ninja THD, NBA Jam works nice PES2011, Blood and Glory work pretty well... I'm not much into gaming, those are the games I own, and I can say they are the ones that will hammer the CPU and GPU pretty good. I'm not sure what you mean with "ultra high settings" everything works. remember that the screen size is 1280x800 so some games that are made for smaller screen will have black bars or some cropping or some weird behavior, but I've only seen that on "time killer" games, can't recall which game was that showed this behavior, but still playable.
Hope that straight things out a bit for you.
Chain fire helps with some tegra games but it's not perfect eg sonic 4 ep 2 lags like treacle and some tegra games don't work at all. However the graphics hardware in the gs3 is the fastest in the world for a smartphone so there's a lot of potential. But tbh gaming without hardware buttons is pretty crap anyway.

Thank you all for your replies.
I had already read through the post you mentioned slking1989 but even though it assured me that a lot of quality games are supported it didn't give me a definite answer regarding how to determine beforehand if a game will run or not (like "system requirements" or similar). I'm guessing the reason HQ games doesn't show up in the Play store on my current phone is that it doesn't support themn thus it's no points showing them but since I don't have the phone yet I wanted to do some research.
My choice is between the S3 and the HOX but after your replies the S3 was pushed further ahead in the race (only kept back by the insecurity around Tegra games really). Now I just have to decide which color to get.
This may help u decide
