Hi,
Anyone using GO Launcher Ex on the Nook? If so, what version does work best?
I have it on my phone and I really like it, but all the versions I tried on the Nook (including the one I have on the phone) had some problem or another... usually with the icons being messed up.
Yes I'm using it. Always using the latest version.
I don't really know what problem you're talking about, it works fine for me.

Same here -- using the latest version. It seems to work pretty well. One of the more recent updates fixed the problem where the settings pane wasn't showing up correctly with CM7's icon bar. There is still the same issue if you bring up the menu somewhere else, but not a big deal. It also seems to redraw the home page a lot when exiting an app, but otherwise I really like it.
Well, I tried using the latest version.. the problems I've got are that some of the icons look blurry. I reduced the size to the smallest possible but that didn't help. Large icons also get cropped.
And, when switching orientation on the home screen it doesn't update the icons... they simply don't appear unless I swipe the screen.
I'm using CM7 nightly...
I use version < 2.71
In landscape mode all my widget gone mad with higher version!
I just installed the latest version on my phone too and the refresh problem when switching orientation happens there as well. The icons look good, though.
i use it and love it also, but when i reboot, all my widgets dont work and i have to re-set them up. i even tried doing a backup and when i restore it all the widgets dont work. i cant uninstall ADW from CM7.2 either. any suggestions?
thx

Strange, mine behave ok. Does it backup successfully? Are you running CM7 off of an SD card or emmc?

Hi Guys,
I installed GB_2.3.3_v1.2 and it's been running great, I notice now when I reboot, my default widgets that I remove/trash come back on the main screen and custom app icons disappear as well as my APN settings get wiped.
I noticed this started happening after I installed a startup modification app that someone mentioned on here but has since been uninstalled since it didnt do much, Is there anyway to stop this happening or should I wipe/reinstall the mod?
I was running v2 but had major battery drain problems so i'm back to v1.2 and i'm happy as apart from this issue!

I think your launcher app in on the SD card. If so, move it to the phone memory and try again. I'm not too sure whether this is the reason.

Hi,
I had a look through the SD card and there's nothing obvious I can see.. I think this weekend I might just reinstall the mod, I understand the android system but not so much the inner workings, even though it's unix based (I'm a unix nut)

Since updating to Gingerbread I've been randomly having to restart my phone because it will stop taking input from the keyboard. You'll see words suggested to auto-correct but nothing will actually type in the box. As soon as I reboot this is resolved, but it occurs 3 - 5 times a day.
Ideas?

I too have the same issue with the OTA. Tried these steps to no avail...
1. Reflashed Stock 2.3.4
2. Flashed Pudding and Unlocked.
3. Flashed a new ROM Alien
4. Installed SwiftKey (Keyboard) too
None of these have worked. I actually ran clean with NO APPS for 24 hours and gave up email and only used the stock text app and had the same thing happen. So I am stumped.
But the plus in all this I ended up running the Alien ROM and its blazing compared to the stock. But I typically have to pull the battery daily for the dang keyboard.
It really is weird how the prediction works so I can type a whole sentence but its not visable.
I hope you can get a suggestion.
It appears to be an issue with the process itself android.com.multitouchkeyboard. If I could find a way to just restart that process I think I can at least mitigate the problem enough to not require a restart every time.

So are you saying the problem would go away using another Keyboard say SWYPE and possibly freezing the multitouchkeyboard process?
We're not alone
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/gingerbread-development-hacking/24275-installed-gingerbread-now-keyboard-randomly-stops-working-device-lags.html
So it appears to be an issue with Gingerbread build? That's great news
I hated the stock keyboard from the very first moment I got the Atrix. Shopped around for quite awhile before finding the ideal keyboard replacement, which for me was Smart Keyboard. I set it to the HTC skin, and it's the best keyboard I've ever worked with on a touchscreen.
No problems at all like what's been described here.
I'll give that a try. For me it doesn't matter which keyboard I've selected I still seem to get this issue. Currently using perfect keyboard free and it occurs on this as well.

If that's true, I would recommend a factory reset. I know, it sucks, but when you get an odd system based glitch like this (and it's a software issue) usually a factory reset fixes it. If that doesn't do it, something in the O/S may be corrupted, and installing a fruitcake build might help.
Earthdog, do you happen to have an SD card installed on your Atrix? I some how was able to recover the keyboard on mine without restarting by clearing the cache on the keyboard process.

eosophobia: I do have an SD Card installed. I will try clearing the cache next time and see if that helps.
edit: I just tried and no go still have to reboot. I have the behavior on the following keyboards: Swift VIP, (stock) Multi Touch, Gingerbread Keyboard (from Market) and Swype...
I'm having this issue as well, but I'm not on gingerbread yet. I'm rooted with gladiatrix and vivid lime installed, version 2.2.2 android. Weird thing is it started when the gingerbread ota came out. Any ideas?

I still have no idea. Some days I have a reboot once and other it happens 5 or 6 times. What Keyboard are you using?
I did discover a new mystery to the issue. If you type something in an app when the keyboard does not seem to work and lock the phone and unlock it the text is then visible.
Odd
um , im pretty sure you could just def get a another keyboard like better keyboard or swift or ect . you can download those in the app market and change the input on them . If that doesn't work then you could use a fruit cake to go back to stock . hope that works

Stock Motoblur and Swype do it for me. Haven't tries others as it's reported they all do it. I have no clue why it'd start all of a sudden.

Glad I found this thread. This has occurred on two phones now (atrix)
Also the clock in notifications freezes and CPU maxes the frequency. It gets really hot until it reboots itself or I reboot. I have been trying to fix this bug for a couple months now. Had anyone reported it?
It may have gotten this nailed down.
If you are having this issue do you have a SD Card installed? If so what brand and size.
After removing the SD Card and powering on does the issue go away?

It's hard to know for sure because it is not easily reproducible. I will run with no sd and see if it happens again.
So after limping along with Illuminate for a while, I finally bit the bullet and installed Gtabcomb 3.3, works fine, FC's the gallery app on boot but otherwise a pretty smooth experience. (oh occasionally I get an earsplitting white noise from the speakers for no reason, only way to stop is to reboot) But it seems to have stagnated, haven't seen an update or anything in a while, but I see that Flashback is getting a pretty constant stream of updates, and it interests me, what would the main differences be in the 2 roms?
Also I saw a post on Tabletroms saying that 3.2 had been ported to the Advent Vega, which I know is very similar to the Gtab, will it be heading to the Gtab soon?
Sorry for the rambling
I run Flashback as my daily.
Truthfully, flashing is so easy just back it all up and flash it for a try.
Rumor I heard over at slatedroid is 3+ maybe coming soon with possible H/W Accel? Dev of flashback is working with them for testing...
Might be a good time to try it out?

I'll +1 Flashback as well. And I currently use Mountain Laurel for the same reasons nvanlaar stated above. I'm eagerly awaiting the ROM updates for Flashback which will allow me to get back to Flashback for my daily and I won't look back (pun intended).

One more vote for Flashback.
I was stuck on 1.1 forever, after lots of failed or half-ass attempts at flashing ROMs other than my original install of VeganGE. Today I meticulously went through the steps to go back to 1.1 stock, over to 1.2, then setting up Flashback. The only hitch I encountered was a broken market, which was fixed on my second attempt at the simple market fix method.
Flashback is just phenomenal. I'm running 8.1 and have found no Force Closes on any program. Fast, smooth and sexy. Just like me. /ducks
A big thank you to the developers of FB - in my opinion, the best ROM out there for our tablets.
FB is great for me except for the Sleep of Death. Never tried GTabComb.

I've been on gtabcomb for a while it's pretty solid although I do have an annoying issue where everytime I'm running an app or running the browser when I back out to the homescreen, when I press the triangle, it freezes up for a second then shows my blank homescreen then all the widgets and icons begin to load one by one very slowly. I hate this so much it makes me angry! It makes my tablet look cheap! I've tried reinstalling the roms several times but after a while it starts doing it again! It's not like I have toomany widgets or icons on my homescreen.. What gives? Is this normal? I thought the tegra 2 should handle widgets and icons!! Anyone else having this issue?

Do what I've been doing and see if it helps: halve the memory-related settings (which are for a tablet with 1GB of RAM) in /init.rc. Just flash the attached zip file using CWM.
It's been a while since I tested the script, so understand that you do this at your own risk. If there are any screwups, just reflash the ROM. That will restore your original /init.rc, and therefore, the original memory-related settings.
If the modifications worked, then attach the changed /init.rc file so I can take a look at it.

1. Flash the zip file using CWM anytime after GtabComb installation.
2. Install Root Explorer, or another file manager which lets you work on system files, and copy the /init.rc file to a micro SD card or USB stick, then transfer this to your PC and post the file here.

when it restarts? damn this is bad! it does this too me aswell but only if its stuck somehow or if i connect to the pc and it reads from the sd card or something like that!
i was fed up too so i decided to arrange the icons by those i use the more...
Had the same problem.
Looks like the problem occurs with long loading of the sd card
i bought a new 16gb 4 class cars and it didnt cure it.
Try flashing [ROM] Wolfs TW Gingerbread it worked out for me. Also try to change sort order.
Its really irritating. Slows the phone down a lot. Also if I keep some shortcuts on the screen they all take their time to load up!
That's why I dont use the stock launcher.
Miss TimeScape though!
I have no idea what could be causing this. I've never heard of anything like it, and I have yet to find any posts or anything on Google pertaining to it. The problem is simple. I install an app or game. Play or use it. Go do something else for 20 minutes to an hour come back expecting to use said app, and its gone. Its not in the launcher or manage apps, and play store acts as if it wasn't yet installed. I can go to market again to install it but that's just bothersome. I'm on an 8gb nook tab running an emmc install of cm10, looks like its the 2012-9-3 acclaim build according to about tab. Other than that I'm not sure which ROM exactly.
Any thoughts would be awesome.

Is there a "place holder" icon in place of the disappeared app? (home screen and app drawer, either or both) Would appear as a generic android icon.
Also, what apps are disappearing specifically?

When Ext-Sd card auto unmounts (known bug) everything installed on it (because ext-sdcard are default one /sdcard1) is then shown as a green android without their normal icon.
I've been having this issue as well with Business Calendar Pro. It isn't installed to the SDCARD. I haven't had the problem with the latest version of the ROM though.

I can't compare it to stock or CM7, though -- I haven't run either stock or CM7 since April or so. It does seem to suck the battery down much faster than Chris' CM10, though. To deal with that, I've been doing a full power-off (long press and select "Power Off") instead of a soft power-off when I know I won't be using the tablet for a while.

Almost any app. Here's an updated play by play.
Install app. App can be used.
After a while it disappears.
Can reinstall and use again.
Usually disappears again.
If tab is rebooted apps reappear. Icon and all.
If you attempt to open they force close. I don't remember the error message.
This mostly happens on large apps or games.
I'm gonna attempt to update my ROM and see if it still has the same problems.
Updated to the latest cherry picks ROM. I wiped and cleared everything. Same problem. Same symptoms. Any thoughts on causes and possible solutions? Or is this just a bug with the ROM?

I've experienced a similar issue, and it appears to be the result of the SD card getting (forcibly?) unmounted while sleeping. I have no idea how to prevent it other than moving all apps to internal storage if possible. Maybe ensuring that any apps the rely on storing data on the SD card are terminated before sleeping?
FWIW, I've had the same thing happen in the past with the stock BN ROM so it wasn't a huge surprise to me when it happened running CM10.

Okay, so the exact same thing happened that the OP described to me this morning on 27/09. I had moved several apps to the SD card and then when I came back to my Nook about a half-hour later, all those apps showed as Android icons and could not be launched. Rebooting made it possible to launch the apps again and brought back the normal icons.
Update: Perhaps it's coincidence but it seems that whenever I manually disable WiFi before sleeping my Nook (running 27/09 here), then everything is fine. However, if I forget to disable WiFi, then for some reason the SD has a chance to be unmounted while sleeping which requires me to re-install any apps that are installed on the SD card or that depend on the SD card for normal use.
I'm also thinking that maybe it doesn't have anything at all to do with WiFi being enabled, but instead perhaps it's just having apps running that depend on the SD when the unit sleeps (such as XDA premium which I've had to re-install several times over the last couple of days ) .
In all, it seems like a really vague and random issue that occurs and reiterating my previous posts, I've seen the SD card get unmounted using the original ROM so I'm just not sure what the deal is here.
I have a problem, with my tablet. I found that 3 of my favour apps has disappeared from my apps list and tablet . I don,'t uninstalled it. What can I do to recover an install it again. When I go in my Googly Store my apps list The 3 apps that is disappeared is not listed there. The 3 apps thats is disappeared is Mxit beta, Google translate and Opera Mini web browser. Is there anything I can do to find this disappered apps on my MTN Steppa 7" Tablet. Finally When I try to download a app from the webside or google play store it shows dowloading by don,t stop the download arrow flashing on and on even when I swiched off the mobile data it still shows downloading but nothing stops. When Switched on the Mini data the the download app is Queued. What can I do to stopit and removed it.
i hope really that you can help mevwhit this problem.
