Go to advanced settings of wifi and check the sleep policy there.

the problem could be in the wifi modules, i had to reinstall them in order to get wifi working, and as the member above says, try changing the wifi sleep policy to never, once i've done that i havent had any problems since

First icon on status bar, what is that?

Can't connect wifi???

Hey everyone. I have a problem connecting via wifi. When I first bought my vibrant I was able to connect just fine on stock rom. Now I have done all the rooting and flashing many times. Tried many roms. Im on nero v3 right now. Every rom I tried I was not able to connect through wifi at all. I don't use wifi calling or need it. I just want to be able to browse through wifi. When I go to turn on wifi it keeps looping from connecting to disconnecting and no wifi icon pops up at all. My router does have a security and I entered the right password but still no connection. Can somebody help??? Maybe im doing something wrong here. Again it has done the same with any rom I've tried.

I had to get off the 80211.n to get it work. The roms have all done this so far.
Even my wifes stock vibrant was effected by my phone.
Then I just swapped my older router back in. G network. And it works.
All I know. I have never seen this answered.
All they do is ask have you done this or that.
Not one person has ever fixed it for me. Sorry.
Lastly seems to work if you disable security on the router.
That sucks.

Hmm I can't remember if my router is g or n. Im gonna have to check. Ur right tho I searched all over and can't find anyone with the same problem. Closest I came across is the wifi calling problem that everyone has. I even downloaded a supposedly good wifi calling apk for ****s and giggles but that didn't help either. Its irritating

I know this sounds silly but when this happened to me, restarting the modem, then the router, then try connecting again. This did the trick for me. Just be sureties do it in this order. Hope this helps.

Does your wireless internet connection have a password?
If so is the password entered correctly?

Maybe you could, let the phone forget the connection (delete it) and then try it again.

I tried, same problem.....
restart your wireless router or access point, see if that helps!
Maybe you have the wrong modem.
Take a look in the Modem Collection thread in the Android development section.
It often happens after installing custom ROMs

my phone does this, turn wifi on then use wifi turn phone off. when I want to use phone again no wifi! I have to turn wifi off and on again on phone.

i think this is a kernel issue coz of the rom installed!
try reconfiguring ur router but after forgeting the network on ur phone and c how this works out!
My phone has had this problem since new. It stayed through stock firmwares KE1, KE2, KE7 and KF1, and has also occured through all Lite'ning Rom versions. I notice it's happening to users of a number of other roms, but isn't a widespread problem.
I have tried reconfiguring routers and forgetting the connection, but the problem persists. Very annoying, but not enough for me to send the phone back to the UK for repair (I'm in New Zealand!).
The problem is not resolved under the leaked 2.3.4 either, I've already heard of someone with the same problem on the 2.3.4 version of DarkyRom2.
Edit: Wifi is set to never sleep. Even cycling through this setting does not help.
those who have problem with WIFI try to reflash back your root application like CF-Root...then your WIFI should be working again...

Galaxy S II Wifi Problem (Need to Restart It to properly work)

Hi guys, in this days i have noticed a problem with my gsII.
Sometimes I have the gsII connected to my router but internet connection doesn't work.
I'll try to explain better what i mean... I start wifi on my gsII and use internet connection without problem. Then I set the phone in standby mode leaving wifi on. When after a while i want to use internet connection, it doesn't work. The telephone is still connected to my router but i can't use internet on the phone.
The only way to make internet connection work is to disable wifi e then reactivate it.
This is really frustrating....
I've got the telephone from three months but only now I'm noticing this problem because first I used to disable the wifi and activate it only when i need it.
Am I the only to have this problem? Is there a solution?
Thanks to everyone in advance... any help would be appreciated
A video is more than thousands of words, so this is an "example video" of the bug:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4um-AqLk1jw
Test it with a different router, i.e. Cisco E4200.
It would a good idea but i have to buy a new router or go to some friend's house for 2-3 hours. I'll keep this idea in my mind thanks
I have this problem, mines a bt home hub v3. Don't think its the router I blame the phone. I have to restart phone to make it connect with ability to use internet

I do not know what " standby mode" is? I have the same phone and have no problems with wifi. The phone goes to sleep when I do not use it and awakes when I use it.
It seems that your phones wifi is sleeping and not waking up. I always turn it off when not using it anyway. Not the full answer but it works for me.

I believe I know and had the problem you describe.
For me the Wifi would work perfectly at first and then after the phone had been left for a while I would try to use it and get 'no connection' type errors. Sometimes it would even stop working even if I just waited too long with the phone still on in my hand.
I found that if I either disabled router wifi security or set it to WEP the problem disappeared. The issue occurred on 2.3.3. My router is a DLink one fyi. I have yet to test 2.3.4 which came out yesterday in Sweden. Ill let u know.
What version android are u? Does relaxing ur wifi security fix it??

I really should have said that is a workaround not a fix. I can add also that I have contacted Samsung about it. They cannot confirm or deny thru issue but suggested that I take the phone to their service centre. Yay...

Ehm...For standby mode I mean that I lock the phone, I only shut down the display....understand what I mean?
If you turn wifi off when you don't use it, you'll never see this bug. Try to leave wifi on for some hours if you want to understand if also your gsII has this bug.

I'm wondering if a full wipe would help . In this days I'm really hating this bug.
Ps: A really strange thing of this bug that i've noticed is that internet connection doesn't work but the program androidVNC perfectly works!! Instead if I try to open 192.168.0.1 (router address) with any browser (opera, dolphin, stock's browser) it doesn't work!!

I tried changing the channel also. I have heard others getting this to work. Didn't work for me. You can use Wifi Analyser app on phone to find a clear channel and see how u go changing your router perhaps?
I tried re flashing also using factory restore. No fix for me.
Also noticed that u can sometimes get phone to work by toggling Network Data on/off. Not really fun either.
The wifi channels and security settings I am talking about are settings in the router not the phone. What wifi security are you using in your router?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I am not a believer the router is at fault in any case. I would entertain an incompatibility but nothing more.
Original router and security settings work fine for...wait for it...an iphone 3gs and a Motorola Defy (yes the phone which seems to have issues with doing everything else!)
Either way an incompatibility is not acceptable either if that's what it is

I know this, and in fact i have to switch off and on wifi connection when this happens.
Now i'm trying to use channel 5 with the router ( but yesterday I've tested channel 6 and 13 without any result)
I hate this bug because beacause it happens only when he wants! I'm quite sure that assistance wouldn't solve the problem. A friend of mine has changed three gsII and said that every gsII that he has changed had this bug!
Ps: Another question.... How often do you have this bug?
Once a week? Once a day? Three times a day?

Is NOT the phone.
i have the same problem reported in the 1st post.
i have been turning wifi off and then on again for a quick fix until now but i think the solution might be to drop the security on the router from WPA to WEP. Haven't tried it yet tho, because it doesn't bother me that much.
I had an ipad previously (before i had the SGS2) and it had exactly the same behaviour. I looked up the problem then and found a FAQ from the ISP that mentioned a compatibility problem between ipad and that router, so their suggestion was to set the router to WEP only.

Easily more than 3 times a day but then I use the phone a lot.
Problem had never occurred when I used only 3G. That was my workaround when I got fed up with it before I dropped the wifi security.

For me it happens always after the phone comes back from stand by with wifi on.
steps to reproduce:
1-turn wifi on, and check it's connected and working
2-press power button to turn off screen
3-turn phone back on, try to access a new web page, it doesn't work
I noticed that while it's in stand by i will still receive email notifications so it probably only looses the connection when i turn it on again.
Also, if there was some program working (say, a download) when i went into standby it will probably still be transferring when it comes out of stand by, it's just the new connections that fail.

Wifi not wanting to connect to used connection

Every so often i get disconnected from my wi-fi on my galaxy s3, despite the router still being on and this is some problem I've gotten at alot of other networks too. The solution is often to just turn off and on again the wifi, and it will connect again, but wondering if there is any way to stop this issue, since it is reaaallyy annoying !
Thanks anyways
set in wifi advance stay on to always

I had it on only when connected, but the problem was that it would not connect again and the only solution was to turn off the wifi and turn it back again.
I just recently firmware updated the phone, and will answer if it still keeps on going on

[Q] very weird Xperia p wifi problem

Hey all. I have this weird wifi problem with my Xperia P running JB. \
When i connect to my home wifi "linksys" It refuses to upload
. It does not load Facebook app.
Or any market.
Or whatsapp or viber contact sync.
Or kik or im+
or any messenger send.
So typically. It's "up" data problem.
But the weird part is when my brother connects to our home wifi
. Everything works like a charm.
IT's not my phone error though. BECAUSE when i connect to friend's wifi.
Everything works like a charm too.
so it's about the router and my Android? But IT USED TO WORK before 4 months. I TRIED cyanogenmod 10 and 10.1 AND ICS.
but nothing works. Plus all vpns aren't connecting. Anyone please got a solution to this?
How do you make it is "up" problem?
Every "down" operation has some "up", even oppening the connection.
Could be some incompatibility between the router and the phone software.
Try different security methods or non at all.
b
But i tried all security methods and none for the router.
I tried other phone softwares.
Google chrome gives me errors 408 and 324.
That server closed the connection without sending any data.
I think it might be a restriction on my network or something? :/
Sorry I'm pretty noob

Shouldn't be any restriction on your network unless you have applied any.
In wifi settings connection show as connected?
