[Q] Issues After Rooting Nook Tablet - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Greetings...I'm a nube at this, so please bear with me...I rooted my NookTablet following the instr. posted on http://forum.xda-developers.com(points to link with video on how to root Nook Tablet)...After debloating completed I was prompted to choose from 6 options, the 6th being to terminate script(other had to do with type of launcher & what not, can't recall)...I selected #6 and the script terminated...After rebooting Nook Tablet I followed the rest of the instr. in the video. i.e., doubled clicked "n" button, selected homecatcher as default and selected honeycomb launcher as default...
When I double-click the "n" button all it does is scroll the screen to the right...
When I press the bottom right corner I get a Honeycomb Launcher pop-up and then it goes away, other times I get the Honeycomb Launcher Notifications window, but when I select any of the choices on the listy(Wi-Fi, Display, Sounds, etc.,) get "The application Honeycomb Launcher(process mobi, SyndicateApps.HCL) hasstopped unexpectedly. Please try again."...So it seems as if something's not set correctly with the launcher...Any ideas?...
Another question I have is that after downloading an APPS called "Music Download" and attempting to download a song I get an error saying that the download cound not be done because no space available, but my settings indicate I have over 11G of storage available in B&N Content Storage and 1G available of Other Storage...Why am I getting this error?...Does itmean that I can only download to an SD card?...
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated...
Thank you...

I have the same problem iwth the Honeycomb launcher stopping unexpectedly (process mobi.SyndicateApps.HCL). Now I can't get into my Nook tablet except using the standard 'home' login that doesn't have any of my apps.
Please help!

Can anyone help with this?..Please...

To both of you maybe a erase/deregister will do you good. Backup with titanium backup all your apps installed in data first.
- Open titanium backup
- press menu > select batch
- backup all user apps
Veronica

I ended up just restarting from scratch. Taking my Nook back to factory settings and re-doing the root process. Now everything is good again. Luckily, I didn't have much on it as I'd only had the Nook for a couple of weeks and could easily re-download everything again.

[Q] Nooted Nook Color Lost Market Account

* Nooted with: ManualNooter 4.6.16
I have re-nooted my Nook Color several times now, it had been getting stuck in the re-boot cycle and then I found the conflict with the Adobe software, and those fixes worked great. I had been able to add a bunch of android apps, change the wallpaper, put on widgets and was thrilled with how it all was working even after many re-boots, but then all of a sudden, I went to the Market and it says "You must add an account to the device to continue. Do you want to add one now?" I press yes, and it just goes back to the home screen. I thought it may be permissions, so I went to ROM Manager, and it says: "You must root your phone for ROM Manager to function. Superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su or /system/xbin/su. Use Google Search on your computer to find instructions to root your phone" I click ok, then click to fix permissions and is says "an error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands" I thought I'd check to see of Nook Color Tools would help, but it has disappeared from my apps list. Now most of the widgets can't load, but the apps are working including the internet. I have no idea what happened. I'm hoping I don't need to re-noot it all again. Please help me. [email protected]

[Q] ANSWERED - All Apps Force Close After applying Market Fix

Calkulin + Clemsyn Combo V8
The Viewsonic G-Tablet was operating without issue for several weeks, but I noticed that I could not find/install several apps from the Android Market. I then applyied steps 6-8 of the Market Fix here:
[STICKY][FIX] Full market (improved market fix) on G Tablet
About after 1 week of running with this configuration, applications are now able to open after starting the tablet. Even applications that were not updated force close immediately. I cannot even start Titanium backup to revert to previous application versions.
Does this happen because incompatible apps were downloaded and installed?
Am I forced to leave the Android Market "un-fixed" and limit myself to the applications that are available to the base Calkulin + Clemsyn Combo V8 image?
I believe I have answered my own question.
I rebooted the G-Tablet and booted into ClockworkMod Recovery
{Volume Up + Power buttons}
I then browser the following menus:
Advanced -> Fix Permissions
Once the Fix Permission process was completed, I rebooted the system from the main ClockworkMod Recovery menu:
Reboot System Now.
An initial inspection of the G-Tablet after reboot appears to show that the "Force Close" issue described above has been resolved.
Thanks for the q&a. I just turned on my gtab for the first time in a couple of days and discovered the same problem. Not sure it's related to the market fix since I've been using the gtab with Calkulin + Clemsyn Combo for months and I don't think I ever applied the market fix, but my problem occured exactly when yours did. Fixed permissions as you described and everything seems back to normal.
Market wants to force close
Follow the directions off this site to install Vanilla AOSP Gingerbread.
Skipped logging into my Google Account, connected to my WiFi, then added the Google Account.
Able to log into Market the first time but after that, get the
The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Have nothing in Contacts. Cleared User Data via Clockwork.
It looks like neither of these helped nor stopped the Market from automatically updating itself. Seems like after it updates itself, the Force Close appears.
Any help would be appreciated because I am getting frustrated.

Have the exact same issue... Coby Kyros 7033 with no Google Play... Installed the latest and greatest download of Google Play successfully, but it just opens and then closes immediately.
What's the easiest way to get Google Play on a Coby Kyros 7033?
Google Play onto Kyros 7033
I purchased one of these tablets to play around with, and cannot install Google Play onto it either.
It will load, then it closes instantly!!
Any suggestions would be more than welcome!!
If I have posted this in the wrong area, please forgive me!!
Thank you!!
Google Play, Coby Kyros 7033 - No Root Needed
You can actually get the Android Market (precursor to the more current Play Store) on this device fairly quickly and without root. I just did this process on a friend's tablet today. He purchased it for his son for Christmas on Cyber-Monday.
The main problem, I think, is that many people are trying to install the latest Google Play APK file and it's just not supported on this device. You can get around this by installing the older Android Market.
Okay, before we begin... I'm going to assume you have everything stock and are using the stock browser for downloading the files attached to this message.
Additionally, I'm going to assume you have already created a Google GMail account and know your username and password. (You will need this to access the store later during setup, so if you don't have one yet... head over to Google and set one up.)
Finally, I'm going to assume you've first read this ENTIRE post before attempting anything.
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible if this results in a bricked device. It shouldn't, however, because we are not modifying any essential items and we are not ROOT'ing the device. This is perfectly above-board.
---- START ----
1.) Download the files attached to this message and save them on your tablet. NOTE: This installs an older version of the Android Market, not the current Google Play store... but it still works.
Be aware, that the selection of apps is limited, but you can still work with it. For example, it does not have the original Angry Birds app. That's available in GetJar or Amazon Appstore however.
2.) Open the App list (by tapping the box made of little squares, mine was in the upper right hand corner of the tablet)
3.) Open ES File Explorer (or whatever you are using for a file manager)
4.) Open the folder where the .apk files are... if you are using the stock browser, the files will be in the "downloads" folder
5.) Run them in the following (very specific) order
**** IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you install the last file (com.android.vending) and click "Done", it will automatically launch the Market setup. DO NOT CONTINUE THE SETUP at this point!!! It will mess up the whole process. ****
a.) OneTimeInitializer.apk --> Click Done
b.) SetupWizard.apk --> Click Done
c.) GoogleServicesFramework-signed.apk --> Click Done
d.) com.android.vending.3.3.12.apk --> Click Done
**** Again, at this point... the Market setup will begin. Do not enter anything ****
6.) Press and hold the Power button to turn the tablet off. Yes, I know you just interrupted the setup process... but this step is needed so that all the apk's you just installed have been processed properly BEFORE running the setup sequence.
7.) Once you are sure it's completely off... Turn it back on
9.) After the initial Coby Kyros screen, you will see a menu with two options BEFORE it lands at the desktop...
*** Check the "Use this as default" box on the very bottom (it's very small).
*** Then select the option on top ("Launcher"). You do NOT want to run the "Setup Wizard".
10.) Make sure you are connected to an active Wi-Fi connection (open your browser and navigate to this forum to ensure it's working)
11.) Open the Apps list (by tapping the box made of little squares, again mine was in the upper right hand corner of the tablet)
12.) Tap on the "Android Market" icon in this list. It will be the default, ugly android APK icon.
13.) Select the option that you already have a GMail account
14.) Enter your GMail username and password... and continue
15.) In a few seconds, you should be able to access the Market.
If you want to redeem Google Play gift cards with this version of the Market/Play store... go here (http://play.google.com/redeem)
-------- END ---------
I hope this works for you as quickly as it worked for us. It only took about 15 minutes and my friend was able to purchase Minecraft Pocket Edition for his son to play on this device. We ran the game and verified it was working smoothly.
Cheers!!!
Followed every step... gets to where I can sign in or create a new google account. Log in with my current google account... get the status bar that says: Your Phone needs to communicate with Google Servers to set up your account... may take 5 min....
Fails every time... "Cannot establish a reliable data connection to the server" And it's not because I'm not on the internet, cause I'm sitting at usatoday.com to verify internet connectivity in the browser.

I don't have this tablet in front of me... I just helped my friend set it up.
That being said, this is a common problem for Android phones.
Here are a few things to try...
1. Try going to YouTube through the app and login with your gmail account.
2. Go to GMail app and add your account
3. Sign into Gmail account with your username and password
4. Go back through the login process
Alternately,
1. Go to settings, applications, manage applications, tap Google apps
2. Tap clear data, then okay
3. Try again.

Thank you, it worked, but... now that it is registered, instead of opening normaly, it says "loading", and then never gets out of that interface! Also, it always shows me a message saying "Unfortunately, android system has stopped".

Wow, that will take a little research. My first thought is to do a factory reset and start over.
I'll see what I can dig up.

You can try going to Google Play from a computer browser and logging in, picking a free app, and try sending it to your tablet from there. It should automatically download and install. That doesn't give you a working market you can browse on your tablet though.
From what I can find, it sounds like the market app version is not correct or is corrupted.
Please verify that you used the one included in my post above.
If so, try the following....
1. Settings -> Applications -> Market -> Force Stop, Clear Cache
2. Restart tablet and try Market
If still not working...
1. Settings -> Applications -> Market -> Force Stop, Clear Cache, Clear Data
2. Restart tablet and try Market... you'll probably have to login again
If still not working, factory reset the tablet and refer back to my original post. Make sure you don't try to login after install until you've reset the tablet. (Follow the steps exactly).
If still doesn't work, I'm stumped and I'm sorry. I hope one of these works.

No problem. I'm glad you got it working finally.
For some reason, the Coby Kyros tablets do not work well with Google Play.
They do work with the old Android Market (the apk for which, if anyone else is reading this thread, is a download in my first post).
Don't worry though, you'll still see all the "compatible" apps.
Between the Android Market and GetJar, you should be able to get most apps.
Best wishes.

Error
not able to install third pack
Re-download the files... Its most likely a corrupted download.
After after that... You are stuck....
You can wipe your device to factory stock and try again before you do anything to the tablet.
Best wishes

I've been scouring the references on this and the only thing I can suggest is trying this (different) framework package (see attachment). It's worked for a few other tablets, but I have no idea if it will work for you.
Beyond that, I'm completely stumped so I truly hope it works. I'm sorry I can't be of much help as I do not have the tablet to try this out (I was just helping a friend with his son's tablet and the original files worked flawlessly for us).
P.S. Did you do a complete factory reset on the device and attempt the process a second time? It may help if something got mis-installed during the original attempt.
From my research you start with a completely powered down tablet...
1. Turn on the tablet by pressing and holding the Power Button, Volume Down (-) and the Back Button
2. After a couple seconds you should see the android logo with instructions on formatting the tablet
(*). If that doesn't work, try pressing and releasing the power button, then pressing and holding the three buttons as soon as you see the Coby logo
Best regards!

Root coby mid 7033
Hi! I've got a challenge for you guys! It happens that I own a coby kyros mid7033-4 and I've tried so hard to root it. I have tried with superoneclick, bin4ry, unlock root (which actually says that supports my tablet but it tells me that it failed to shell root), and android root. This last one, android root, worked, but not properly. Some programs tell me my device is rooted but root check tells: Sorry! This device does not have a proper root access. Help me! I'm trying to root so that I can install google now on ics.

I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe you'll run across a solution. In the meantime, you can install the Amazon Appstore which has most of the same apps as the Google Play market. That was our back-up plan for my friend's tablet. He was insistent on getting Minecraft on it for his son.
Best of luck.

I'm completely stumped on rooting this tablet. I've seen many threads on it, but no one has achieved full root on it that I'm aware of. If you find an exploit, please be sure to post it!
Best of luck to you too!
This worked for me! Thanks. I did have to clear the data and then reset before it would communicate with google servers

[Q] Sylvania SYTAB10ST infoTMIC Tablet won't tether or boot from SDcard

1. Successfully rooted my Sylvania tablet - SYTAB10ST
2. Installed LauncherPro - everything still o.k.
3. Removed most bloatware - power down/up all still o.k.
4. Removed a previously installed launcher app AND the default launcher app that came with the tablet.
5. Did you miss that last one? I removed the default launcher app that came with the table!?!?
6. Power down/up. Everything seems to boot as it should . . . and then . . .
7. ERROR MESSAGE: "Sorry! The application LauncherPro (process android.process.acore) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
8. I can't go anywhere beyond the home screen and that error message will continue to pop-up as long as the tablet is powered up.
9. I can't access ANYTHING.
10. I can't tether with USB (I am going to assume that USB debugging is not active on the tablet.)
11. I have tried every button-pressing boot sequence I can find on-line - nothing!
12. I have tried to access via command shell. The commands function but can't find the tablet.
13. I have tried to boot from SDcard . . . nothing!
Aside from joyfully skipping to the electronics recycle'r, any ideas out there? I hate to throw $100 buck down the drain but y'all are my last option. . . help???
Much Thanks!

SOME Link2SD Apps Dissapeared After a Reboot (not all) Please Help Me!

Hi,
I have a Galaxy Core Prime sm-g360v and I have rooted with KingRoot. I have had link2sd installed for 6 months now but all of the sudden when I reboot some apps no longer show up in my apps menu or link2sd. A message appears every time I boot about how some functionality is missing and I may need to factory reset (from android system, not from link2sd) but this has appeared before and I had all my apps. The missing apps were random (pubg gone but not other games, etc.) I also had Apps2SD installed so I went there and they did not show up, but their package names DID show up under the recover option. Which is odd, because all my normal apps that showed up there too had their app names and icons, these missing apps only had package name. I tried to restore but it always fails. Can someone please help me out? Not sure if it is an SD corruption problem, and if it is, not sure how to fix it.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated! :good:
