This is the last full SBF official for the Droid 2 Global. This will put you back to the last stock OTA without having to do any other updates later. Flash with RSD Lite.
As with any such file posted on a forum site, use at your own risk, but I know that is the official VZW SBF file
Step 1: Boot into the bootloader, you do this by powering on and holding power on + volume up + volume down. You should see a black screen with text that says battery: OK
Step 2: Plug is your usb cord into the computer you loaded the rsdlite file on
Step 3: Click on your rsdlite program. You need to run as an administrator, to do that hold shift key and right click on the rsdlite program (do that as you are about to open the program).
Step 4: Next to the file name text box in the rsdlite program are three little dots. Click on those dots and find the file Click on that file and then click start. Make sure you have a strong battery before flashing this is the one time you need to ensure your battery is ok to get through the process, because the program erases everything and re-flashes your phone.
Step 5: Wait for it to get to 100% and reboot your phone to the motorola "M" symbol first then unplug your device. While at the M take off the battery cover out and remove your battery. Wait for about 3 seconds and then reinstall your battery. Power on and hold the physical X key until you get to the triangle and !.
Step 6: on your physical keyboard push the search button to get into the recovery mode. From there you are going to wipe data/factory reset. AFter that is complete click reboot.
Thanks to our friend toto221 for this file.

Saved my droid
Thanks yo u saved my Droid today i've flashed the CM9 ICS alpha1 and i ened up with my droid dead...
Don't know if anyone else has this problem (I think my friend's phone is possessed), but I have to push volume up+down simultaneously instead of pressing the search key on the hardware keyboard to bring up the recovery menu.
I hope this saves someone else many hours of searching and angry table hitting.
(Yes, I am sure that the phone is a D2G.)

Hello,
I recently acquired a D2G. It was running the OTA stock Gingerbread and was rooted when given to me.
I was foolish and deleted the My Accounts app as I thought it was a Verizon My Account only app.
I did not back up the system apps with Titanium...again foolish move.
Had some issues and used the factory reset. However, that obviously cannot restore system apps I deleted.
Is there any pre- steps needed to push this to the phone? Or can I simply run it in via RDSLite and then start from scratch?
Thanks

zipped SBF MD5 is the same as what you get 77185076B8EF7C962534B6223AD4BA1E
actual extracted SBF has MD5: 2152EE89E314F5B282753EE56FA36C07
If you get that MD5 on the zip, you are ok.
I am sure you know you need to extract the SBF from the zip file before you can flash it with RSDLite.
Never mind. I didn't see the last post. Thanks sd_shadow and leobg for the assistance.
boot loop
So I've tried two different sbf files for my D2G including the one listed in the OP of this thread but my D2G is still boot looping Am I SOL? I've pulled the battery and tried a few other things but I thought that sbf files were the ultimate fix for boot loops not the cause of them.

Hey guys can anyone help me update my phone to 6.12.173? Every time I attempt to update it fails for some reason. I asked for help on the "Solution for failed OTA update (due to removed apps)" thread but I don't think I can get much help there since I never removed any bloatware. Anyways I did attempt to follow the steps mentioned in that thread, however I got a "status 7" error. Here is a picture of my last log:

Were you rooted at one time? You say its not because of bloat removed.Instead of worrying about the update for now did you try and go back to stock? Dont know much but like you would just have to search for more. Regardless you could still try and flash back and if you still have problems will be more involved.

What i would do...
1)backup apps+data with Titanium backup
2)copy titanium backup folder to your pc (just in case)
3)boot phone in flashboot mode. (hold vol + and - with power button when turning it on, press down to select fastboot, press up to enter)
4)use RSD lite to install fastboot files for your phone. (make sure battery is fully charged because it takes a long time to flash and it is draining your battery while flashing)
5)let phone reboot and skip setup, go to settings->privacy->reset phone.
6)now try OTA.
7)root and restore with titanium backup.

If there is a way to double check that would be great, but I if not them I'm just going to use the US fastboot files. I meant tweaks that try to boost your phone's performance. Since you have screenshot ER, go to settings->about-> take a screen shot that shows from system version to build date. Post the pic here.

Hello! Here I will show you how to flash CWM to your Galaxy Note which is considered to be a "recovery" portion of the device that takes place of the stock one and has additional functionality. Less talk, more do:
Step 1: Obtain the files you need.
Download the driver necessary for your computer to communicate with your phone and install from:
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SGH-I717ZBAATT
Download Odin 1.85:
Google/Bing it since I don't know a valid link that's allowed to be used, will update with one if possible.
Download the CWM Touch Based Recovery from Braway's thread located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1584576 the yellow Odin link
Download your choice of a ROM(a custom optimized version of the Android operating system). Here are a few very popular ones:
The Hybrid(ICS):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630089
SAUROM(GB):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522942
Seraphim(ICS):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602632
Step 2: Prep your phone by placing it in "Download" mode.
Turn off your phone.
Connect it via USB to your computer.
Hold down the Volume Down button at the same time as your hold the power button until the phone vibrates once. As soon as the phone vibrates once release the power button while continuing to hold Volume Down until you see this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Press Volume Up to confirm.
Step 3: Flash CWM.
On your computer navigate to Odin3 v1.85 and launch it with Administrative privledges to be safe(right-click - Run as Administrator).
It will open(hopefully) and you will see this. Ensure that "Auto Reboot", "F. Reset Time", and "PDA" are checkmarked.
Click the PDA button and navigate to Braway's CWM that you downloaded in step 1. Select it and select ok.
It should show next to the PDA button and then hold your breath sniper style and click "Start"
Wait until you see Passed in the top left hand corner which should take maybe 10-60 seconds and you are golden. If not your phone could be trashed and it's not my fault, just saying.
Step 4: Get into CWM
Power off the phone.
Similar to how you got into download mode except for the keypress is slightly different.
Hold down the Volume Down AND Volume Up button(kind of pressing the middle of the volume key itself) at the same time as your hold the power button until the phone vibrates once. As soon as the phone vibrates once release the power button while continuing to hold Volume Down until you see this:
Step 1: Understanding CWM, usage.
Before doing anything, navigate to "Backup and Restore" and select backup and confirm. This is known as a nandroid backup. If you ever are caught in a bind you will navigate here and select Restore instead of Backup in this menu.
Now is play time without many worries. Restart back into the normal Android system and gain access to your internal SD card via USB on your computer. Copy your ROM to "the root" of your SD card.
Restart back into CWM.
You're ready to flash, but right before flashing any ROM perform the following steps:
Select wipe data/factory reset and confirm
Select wipe cache partition and confirm
Select advanced - wipe dalvik cache and confirm
Select install zip from SD card
Select from internal SD card or wherever you placed it.
Select the ROM file and confirm.
Wait while you see something like this:
Once the bottom line says something like complete you'll have access to the menu to select Go Back and then Reboot system now.
All done!

It is easy, and it takes about 45 minutes to an hour to learn everything you need. If somebody doesn't have that much time, they shouldn't be flashing. When I started on my captivate, it definitely took me a few days, but I spent the time, and as a result, I've only had one soft brick ever through 3 phones. Reading and searching has becoming underrated here on XDA, and it's sad, because I know people are rushing things and screwing up their phones, when if they would take a little bit of time they would have no problems. Yes, guides like this are nice, but ultimately they are unnecessary and problematic, because even though it is a simple process, people are still having trouble with it, and threads like this encourage people to flash without actually knowing anything.

if you are ref'ing to: how to put the ROM that you are going to flash, you put it on what should be listed as phone, internal and if you have ext, sd dont put it there.
then you boot into CWM and do your wipes as per whatever ROM op's that your are installing...and point to the internal sd card look for file name of ROM that you downloaded.
Maybe you should do a google search on Youtube on flashing there are some for the Note...just an idea...
Need a little more info. I'm assuming you have the ROM dl'd to your PC and wanna move it to your phone? Do as bigjoe said if this is the case.
Like there's no were on my computer that says phone or phone storage. So is it my computer or what?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Maybe you should download the ROM directly to your phone. It doesn't have to be dl'd to your PC and then moved to your phone. I never use my PC anymore.
How would I do that?

Jelly Bean Anyone???
That's right, in case you didn't know, a Jelly Bean OTA was "accidentally" pushed out to lots of people on Christmas Eve. Maybe you grabbed it, maybe you didn't. Well for those of you that didn't, I have quite the surprise for you today!!!
Here it is, the "accidental" Jelly Bean OTA!!!!!
Let's go through the steps to get this on your phone. Now keep in mind, just to test out these instructions, I've done this myself since I am back on the RAZR now!
CAUTION!!!!! AFTER INSTALLING THIS UPDATE, IT IS COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE TO GO BACK TO ICS!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
Note: I am absolutely NOT responsible for anything that happens to your phone during this process.
Prerequisites:
1. Download the Jelly Bean update file and place it on the root of your external sdcard (root of sdcard means DO NOT put it in any folders, just put it on the main part of the external sdcard.) http://d-h.st/8l1
2. Download and install Winrar (free version) http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
3. Download Mattlgroff's RAZR Utility v1.82 http://batakang.com/ftp/DROID_RAZR/DroidRazrUtility1.82.zip
4. Download and install Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper from the Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/...m9yZy5wcm9qZWN0dm9vZG9vLm90YXJvb3RrZWVwZXIiXQ
Update your SU Binary before backing up your root!
Install Instructions:
1. Find the zip file for the RAZR utility you just downloaded and right click on it. Select "Extract Files..." then click OK.
2. Connect your phone to your PC with a USB Cable in FASTBOOT MODE.
3. Go to the extracted folder from the Utility and double click the DroidRAZRUtility.bat file.
4. Select option 1 to fastboot back to complete stock .211 (Note: If you're just on stock rooted .211 with NO RECOVERY, skip this step. If the update fails, fastboot back to .211)
5. After fastbooting back (it will take a while) Reopen the DroidRAZRUtility.bat file.
6. Stay connected to your PC, with your phone ON normally, change the USB connection to MTP Mode, now go to Settings > Developer Options, and turn on USB Debugging.
7. Use the DroidRAZRUtility.bat file again, this time select Option 2 which will root your .211 build.
7a. Open the app drawer on your phone, navigate to SuperUser, open the app, and update your su binaries.
8. Open the app drawer on your phone and navigate to the Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper App and open the app.
9. Once the app is open, allow it Superuser Permission, then select "Protect Root."
10. Reboot Device
11. Go back to the OTA Rootkeeper App and this time select "Temp Unroot."
12. Turn your phone off. Once powered down, press and hold the power button + volume down at the same for about 9 seconds, when the screen flickers, release the buttons and quickly press all 3 side buttons (power, vol+, vol-)
13. You're now in the bootloader, press the vol- button to highlight "Recovery" and press vol+ to select it.
14. You'll be greeted with an Android on his back, press both volume buttons at the same time here to enter stock moto recovery.
15. Now in stock recovey, select "install update from external sdcard."
16. Wait for the update to finish installing (about 20-30 minutes.)
17. After the update is finished, simply reboot the phone.
18. Congratualtions!!! You now have stock Jelly Bean on your RAZR!!!
Now let's get your root permissions back!
1. Reboot your phone normally after the update finishes installing.
2. Open the Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper App
3. Select "Restore Root."
4. PROFIT!
IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE RESTORING ROOT AFTER THIS UPDATE, TRY THIS TOOL (made by mattlgroff) BEFORE DOING ANYTHING ELSE!!!!!!!
Try this tool and let me know if it works please.

I know that there are other threads like this one, but I honestly thought mine was a little easier to understand and a little more in laymen terms. If any Mods want this removed, please feel free to do so!
seems very simple (affecting other partitions? I mean the other ROMs installed?)
thanks
Doesn't matter, people don't really use search function.
It maybe possible to get root back by temp downgrade to ICS kernel.
I'll only reveal it when JB for umts_spyder is official.
Requirement :
- CID partition backup. So backup now before you lose root.
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk1p18 of=/sdcard/cid.img
#It just 512kb (2kb compressed)

Opps. It maybe doesn't work for XT912. I take back my word.
But it never hurt to have a CID backup.

I have read alot about this new JB leak. And as i understand it is for xt912 (USA). Will this work for xt910 (Nordic)? Or maybe it will flash but will not give me signal.

Thank you! Added to the OP!
won't boot..
Hey guys, I ran into an issue while doing this for my brother. Once I installed the stock ICS via the tool in the OP, the phone will only boot to the motorola screen and then the phone goes completely black and will not boot. I can still get into fastboot, but if I try to reach recovery I get the droid with the red exclamation mark (so it seems the phone now has no recovery on it). I have tried redoing the process, but I'm getting the same result once the flash is complete.
Any advice on what I should do? Was using a fully charged CDMA RAZR fyi..
I appreciate any help on this and I'll be the first to admit that I almost always run into problems with Motorola phones. Is there another method or toolkit to simply get back to a bootable phone and try my luck again?
Thanks!
Does this work on a gsm xt910?? I am using stock rom but have a safestrap within so any help on what i can do!?!?
Sent from my XT910 using xda app-developers app
Nevermind.. I used RSD to flash the ICS stock. I suppose I can now go through the rest of the process in the OP?
Seems to be working fine now, so I'll continue the rest of the steps to get root and flash JB tonight. Please let me know if I'm missing anything and thanks again for any advice / suggestions.

Look for the process to install this in a thread made by whirleyes, this is for CDMA ONLY.

Hello all-
I recently bought doid x2 from my friend to replace my previous phone which i dropped, the screen broke so its busted.
It wasn't until I went to the verizon store, and activated my phone that I was told that it was rooted. It is fully functional (it is active, receives texts, calls, has wifi, apps, everything works) but I cannot update the software OTA and do not have access to my data network. So the only time I can really access the internet or do anything productive is if I have a wifi connection. And overall, the phone just functions pretty slow. I have had a blinking grey triangle in the top right corner of the screen, which I assume means that my data is roaming and thus have no access to it.
So basically I tried taking it to a repair store and they suggested that instead of paying 150+ dollars to have my old phone's screen repaired, that I post on here for help to see if I can restore this phone to its original software. I have tried doing the factory reset and in the store, they went through the restore process but it didn't change anything with my lack of access to data. I want to know if there is anything I can do to fix this issue (preferably on a macbook) or if I should just pay the money to have my old phone's screen fixed.
So does anyone know how to fix this? or if you need more information about my problem let me know and I can try to give more details
There is a guide on how to "SBF" your phone back to factory condition. I recommend doing this.
It will also remove root.

I followed the instructions exactly on the HowTO perform a SBF forum page. In RSDLite, it says the process is complete and then before my phone can reboot or go to the next step it says FAIL in the result column of RSDLite. Then before I can do anything in RSDLite it is Not Responding and I am basically forced to close out of it. I used the RSDLite 5.4.4 so then i tried using another RSDLite but couldn't even download it.
Could it be that I am using windows 7 ?
or is there something else I am doing that might be screwing up with the process

rsd lite works fine with windows 7
several things can go wrong
did you install moto drivers with Motorola_End_User_Driver_Installation_5.9.0
if not download and install Motorola_End_User_Driver_Installation_5.9.0
are you using the original moto usb data cable?
if it is a desktop pc use rear usb ports rather than front
try a different version of rsd lite, several options in my list RSD Lite mirrors
verify md5 check sum for sbf see Verify that your download is complete with MD5/SHA-1 Hash Checksums
.
.
or forget all of the above and use all-in-one ezSBF DX2 2.3.4
instructions here all-in-one ezSBF DX2 2.3.4
download here Dev-Host mirror

So I tried using moto drivers like you said and basically the same thing happens. It said that my driver was updated but the same error occurs. It says that the flashing process failed even after it gets through execution 100% ... I haven't tried a different version of RSDLite or the method that you posted at the bottom, I am kind of busy right now but will try it later.
Any other suggestions on what might be wrong?
run again, when you see it failed, leave phone connected, rsd lite running, open windows device manager, and look for an unknown device or a small yellow triangle, if you see either, rerun moto device drivers program, then click on bad device and select update drivers
if you don't see a bad device, it could be a bad download, verify md5 checksum for sbf

There seemed to be no bad device, so I was goign to try the other way that you posted, the all in one ezSPF process but the file that is on there 1KDStaz0.x.iso I am unable to download. I have a pair of the FPV Drone Edition. Have side loaded a few apps. Haven't rooted since Galaxy S3 ( back on iPhone now) am interested to get this going
Hi !
It seems the rooting of intel devices follow the scheme:
-get bootimg
-patch it
-allow oem bootloader (voiding warranty and endangering future updates)
-flash the patched bootimg and pray
Is this correct or did i oversimplify or generalize too much or am i plain wrong, anyone ?
Greetings,
Ender
P.S. Greetings dvegaman

If the lack of interest in rooting is due to lack of hardware, reach out to me privately here on XDA; would happily donate one to kickstart some development efforts.

This may seem easy to others but I figured out how to do a factory data reset using ADB... something that would've helped when my BT-300 went into a boot loop last weekend...
***DO AT YOUR OWN RISK! NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKING, ETC..... (but it worked fine for me).
1. Install "minimal_adb_fastboot_v1.4.2_setup.exe" (google it and grab at your own risk) on your Windows PC.
2. Go to the BT-300 and:
a. Under Security allow unknown sources
b. Under Developer Options allow USB debugging and unlock bootloader.
3. Connect same powered up BT-300 to PC via USB cable.
4. Start up that minimal ADB program. It will open in command prompt.
5. Check connection by typing "adb devices"
Should see "EMBT3C device" on PC
6. Now type, "adb reboot recovery" and wait for android with triangle/exclamation point to appear after device reboots. You will notice the physical buttons flash purple too.
7. Press and hold power button. Also press Vol Up, then release Vol Up and finally release Power button.
You should now see the recovery menu including "wipe data/factory reset", cache clear, and so on...
NOW... if I could get recovery.zip image to restore if I "kill" it to reload with ADB... THEN I'd try root. There must be a way. I just want GApps 5.1.1 on the thing for starters.
Still struggling with rooting... No dice so far. I've never rooted any Android... Once rooted can we then save the original factory ROM someplace safe, or do I need that first from another source? Newbie questions . I know just enough to be dangerous! LOL.
I got the factory image

I also managed to root my epson! I discovered the twrp.img here:

If you get into bootloader mode and fastboot flash it into the recovery partition, you can adb root it and then install supersu from there. I just trashed my device though so be sure to do a full image backup first haha.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/root-tutorial-intel-atom-cherry-trail-t3468330
If you get into bootloader mode and fastboot flash it into the recovery partition, you can adb root it and then install supersu from there. I just trashed my device though so be sure to do a full image backup first haha.

Tried to load up opengapps, then every time I rebooted it would be "optimizing apps" I tried to side-load the OTA again and poof, it killed the system partition.
The ota apparently doesn't have the full image. Right now I am trying to hack together something from another cherry rom and side load it, but I need a DD of someones system Glad twrp still works or I wouldn't have shell root access to fix.

You tell me how to share a pure factory image of mine (I'll gladly do an FDR for the cause)... and I'll share with ya!

Ok I am retarded. I didn't configure twp correctly so all the folders it had were wrong. So when I went to use the install tool it screwed up majorly.
Just glad I didn't overwrite the bootloader
PS - Ok, I figured out how to restore the original recovery loader and it recovered fine. It must be something in this hacked version of twip that isn't applying the ota correctly. Going to try to build a version of twip just for this

You are not. I am the noob trying to figure out the whole root process and I don't even know how to backup the existing bootloader and ROM so I can restore it with ADB if I screw it all up in root..... I feel clueless and know just enough to be dangerous... yet for some reason, I'm not afraid, just need to learn.

I am both impressed with your progress and baffled why I after I download SecureUpdateInfo I can't get to the zip file. Grrrrrrr.

Whew! I did it. First I took the instructions from here as a start:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/root-tutorial-intel-atom-cherry-trail-t3468330
In fact, if you can "almost" follow the instructions verbatim. The problem is that the data drive is encrypted and the default android password didn't work so I had to modify the boot.img to not encrypt the data partition then do a wipe. supersu installed fine then.
As for gapps, that was tricky. You have to manually install google webview apk as the built in one is garbage.
Still working on the vr settings. Camera has issues with scaling as I think good believes it to be a widescreen when its a 4.3.
Once I get it down, I will make a boot.img and recovery.img that should just work.
