Yet another poxy review! - Nokia Lumia 800

As I got my phone for free, I felt I had to kinda justify that, so I knocked up a blog and wrote a review of sorts: http://blog.rustyweb.co.uk/?p=18
It's more of a Lumia 800 related brain-fart I guess, but I felt I should do something for Nokia/WP

Somebody help me find this case

Hi all
Firstly let me jus apologise. I posted this in the balckstone general section a few days ago stupidly forgetting we have an accessory section.
I don't know if anyone on here has seen it but there is a really cool case for the iphone by griffin called elan I think. It is a 2 piece case that slips on to the back of the phone and is very slim. Seen it on a friends iphone and it is amazing

What I was wondering is does anybody here know of anything that is the equivalent for the HD?
Got a lot of stuff on that page man, which case are you talking about?
Sorry man, I corrected the link. Look now
I don't think it exists for the HD
It looks a lot like this one:

Xoom v. Tab: First Glance

I needed a break this afternoon, so I went to Best Buy to check out the Xoom. It only took one glance to realize it's not for me. Same reason I returned the iPad - too big. I really love the size of my Tab.
I fooled around with the UI a little, not really enough for a proper evaluation, but I didn't notice anything that really grabbed me. FWIW, I also looked briefly at the iPad2 but didn't change my mind about that, either.
Would be interested in other's thoughts...
Are you aware that you are posting in the Folio 100 section?

No Love from Speck?!

I's surprised that Speck doesn't have any cases for the AT&T GS2 or am I missing them is a secret place? I'm A big fan of their cases because they look great, are nicely made and feel solid.
I'll probably get no hits on this thread since theres not much info but if someone does find something for the GS2 please post it.

Why don't people do research before buying things?

I'm sorry, but this really annoys me. At least half of the listings for screen protectors on Amazon that SPECIFICALLY STATE which Variant/model they are for have bad scores due to idiots buying them and complaining that it doesn't fit their phone because it's too small/ it's too big/ it has a square hole for a button that isn't there, blah, blah, blah....
Don't people do research and at least LOOK AT THE PICTURES or READ THE DESCRIPTION before buying something?
Sad to say .... no they don't. I wish they did. Too many people buy on hype or impulse.
I like to do my research and know the device I buy is going to last and the full potential will be achieved for the length I own the device.

Hell no. People don't even do research on a developers forum, never mind Amazon.

Click to collapse
Because people are spoiled by the return/exchange system. They can always return the item anyways, why bother reading?
SAMSUNG GALAXY S II? MUST WORK FOR MY PHONE. WHATS THIS i9100 ONLY? MUST BE MY PHONE. I BUY.
*Customer gets product*
HEY THIS NOT FOR MY PHONE, RATE DOWN.
^Happens all the time... It doesn't help that the phones look the same -button, unlike the Sprint version thats larger and rounded.
some people think the enter button is a silver platter.
I was typing a reply to this message... then it descended into a giant rant so I am only going to say that I hope the world really does end this year because most people don't deserve to live on this planet. I think I deserve to, but not sure I want to....

When I bought my GSII the guy at AT&T thanked me for having researched what I was buying before I bought it. Makes the sale for them a lot easier when customers come in there knowing exactly what they want.
I rarely buy anything off pure impulse.
One of my favorites.... not phone related... was a guy who gave a 55" tall monopod I was looking at for a camera only 2 stars because although it was well made and shipped promptly, it was only 55" high as stated in the product title as well as the description and was a bit too short for his 6'2" self. I just had to comment on that one. I basically said, so you are knocking 3 stars off of this thing because it was exactly as it was described and you were too stupid to read it in the first place? He replied with a bunch of BS about how it wouldn't work for him; I replied how that is just like complaining about shoes 2 sizes too small hurting his feet. I don't think he ever got my point, he was just sure he was right.

Cnet Street view review

This is a video of the note reviewed by regular people on the street. Can't say I agree with them but here it is.

The people they interviewed actually seemed pretty open to it - more so than I would have expected. I was expecting more wide-eyed BGR-type reactions, but at least the woman in the middle of the video seemed like she wanted to keep it.
I was slightly surprised to see that both of the guys thought it was too big for a phone, when both of the girls seemed all for it. I still don't get the first guy's opinion that carrying two devices is more practical than one that can fit both bills quite well. Also, the second guy doesn't realize the hypocrisy in his opinion. He says the stylus is just one more thing to carry, one more thing to use, and doesn't like the idea of it; even though it is stored inside the device and you don't need to use it....hmmm? Then he goes to say that he likes carrying two devices around more so than the possibility of having both in one pocket-able design. Doesn't add up in my mind. I don't think I will ever understand the full power of the iSheep.
I think the girls are smart and realize the true potential of this device. They realize that they shouldn't care if somebody thinks their phone is huge, that it is still pocket-able, and it can be a very useful all-in-one device.
