Open Garden WiFi not compatible with ICS? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hey all, I've been using Open Garden Wifi tethering on my unlimited data Verizon 4G Samsung Droid Charge to provide internet for my prime.
It was working perfect, without a hitch, but now that Ice Cream Sandwich has been installed my network wont even show up on the list. Interestingly, the network shows up on WiFi Analyzer on the prime. Anyone else have this problem?

Its been working for me but im on a 3g incredible

what frequency channel, transmit power, and LAN network settings are you using?

I have the same issue actually. My prime cannot connect to my CM7 hotspot app that's integrated into the ROM, nor open garden, nor Wireless tether (open source)
What gives?

Hey guys,
I can connect perfectly fine to my old HTC Desire (CM9 WiFi Hotspot) or HOX (HTC Sense WiFi Hotspot) but Open Garden doesn't work.. too sad. (All Devices with Android 4.0.3 or above [the Desire])

sgs2 has default portable wireless hotspot apps in "settings>wireless and network>tethering and portable hotspot>portable wi-fi hotspot settings

I know, but the connection on my pc says "limited connection" and there is no connection to the internet.
Galaxy S2 Hotspot feature does not work
Same Problem with my Samsung Galaxy S2...
I also now have a Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE with the same problem... hotspot not working correctly....
Everything works fine with the hotspot feature on my 1 year old HTC Desire HD...
So why not with the new phone?
I have a Galaxy S2 LTE and an HTC Desire HD. No problems with the HTC Desire HD.
1) The Galaxy S2 LTE's WiFi Hotspot feature does not work. My computer and other mobile phones can CONNECT to the WiFi Hotspot of the LTE, but then there is no internet available on my laptop or other mobile phones.
The older HTC Desire HD's WiFi hotspot works perfect and lets other devices connect to the internet through it.
2) The Galaxy S2 LTE's Video Camera has no autofocus. I found this to be true on all Galaxy S2's as well. My 1 year old HTC HD Desire has autofocus on the video camera.
Why is a NEWER, supposedly better phone, like the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy S2 LTE worse than a one year old HTC Desire HD?
if u having limited connectivy, check your laptop setting. in status, check 'dhcp enable'. mine by default is 'no', so my laptop cannot assign IP to the connection. You just need to use troubleshoot and windows will fix it.

How to get reliable wifi tether with 4G

OK, I have been frustrated with the lack of consistent/reliable wifi tether with the Photon as are many others. I live in a good 4G area but, up to now, have only been able to tether 4G via USB. Unfortunately, the awesome wifi tether app (thanks Harald Mueller and co.) still doesn't have dedicated settings for the Photon so we've all been fiddling with settings and app versions etc.. to try to get it working.
My main problems have been as follows:
1) 4G shuts off automatically after connecting and reverts to 3G
2) connection with tethering devices gets interrupted and the device no longer sees the phone. Need to restart the tether app on the phone and re-establish link with the device.
3) Can't talk on phone and tether simultaneously on 3G
4) Can't stream video to devices on 3G
etc...
The fix I found that works basically flawlessly is a jumble of different fixes other people have tried/found so I don't take credit for that but I have not seen the exact combination which work for me elsewhere so here goes and hope it helps some would-be 4G tetherers out there.
1) Install wifi tether version 3.0-pre12 ***EXPERIMENTAL*** (you have to go to the developer homepage and search for older versions)
2) Install data enabler widget from the Market
3) Wifi tether settings: samsung galaxy S, leave setup-method alone, setup wifi encryption to your preference
4) Turn off 4G
5) Turn off data via enabler widget
6) Launch wifi tether app and turn on tethering
7) Turn on 4G antenna (leave data enabler widget off!)
8) Wait for 4G data connection to appear active in the upper right of the phone
9) Connect your device via wifi and enjoy 4G tethering
Don't know why step 7 is so important but it is...
I now can pull 5-7 Mbps easily through the phone and stream flawlessly. I also don't get the mobile IP registration error anymore. Can also phone/tether simultaneously.
Only problem I have seen with this method is that after closing tethering down, the 3G data sometimes doesn't want to kick back in. Toggling data enabler will usually fix this although one time I did have to reboot the phone.
hope this works for others too!
will try later. thanks for the tip
it worked. thanks, however i used wifi tether 3.1 beta 7
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
Used Beta 11
Awesome, thanks for the info. seems to work with beta 11 and tornedo Root.
Thanks for bringing this up - there was another post regarding this here :

I was wondering whether anyone else has been successfully using the 4g wifi method as snappydave [OP] and these steps...
I haven't been using wifi-tether in a while (on my shabby torpedo rooted stock photon) since the google wifi 3.0 beta5
It would be nice to see the idea of being able to tether to 4g (in my area) and connect to a laptop and still use my phone to send/receive voice calls.
bottom line : does the data enabler widget and google wifi tether work well with these steps and 4g with in/out voice simultaneously? Or should I just stick with the google wifi tether on 3g and deal with the dropped connection on incoming voice calls? I can't afford to lose voice functionality - at least with the google wifi tether when I had used it, my tethered connection would drop from my laptop and then pick back up after an incoming call - sucks that I would lose the net connection - most important in case of something that requires a stable connection (e.g. video chat-skype / large file download)
Thanks to anyone in advance for further clarifications - cheers.

Wifi hotspot on AOSP rom

I've just flashed Liquid Smooth 3.2 rom on my thunderbolt
and I realized I don't have the stock Mobile Hotspot app that I had on the Sense rom.
But I found that it had its own android wifi tethering(AndroidAP) on settings.
I turned it on and tried connecting it to my laptop
and it said I had limited access.
I've tried Open Garden Wifi Tether app, which works but not as fast enough as
the stock 4G mobile hotspot. (speed test result range 1~2 Mbps)
I'm expecting the android wifi tethering in the rom would be faster, but
I can't get it to work!!
O yea, and I've also tried USB tethering while connected via USB to my laptop,
and this didn't work at all. there wasn't even a mere respond on my laptop.
Can anyone help me to get this thing work,
or is there any fast wifi tethering app out in the market
just as fast as the 4G speed?

[Q] Verizon 4g tethering to Wifi only GT 10.1

I have a Thunderbolt (rooted & rom) Verizon 4g (w LTE) smartphone and trying to tether to my wifi only GT 10.1 (rooted only - SockMonkey) tablet.
Things I've tried and used:
Open Garden, Barnacle, Google Tethering, Hotspot on Thunderbolt
I have tried WPA_supplicant fix, no help there.
I get connected with Open Garden with 4 bars, but not on internet.
I've read it's the Ad Hoc difference Verizon not working with Android wifi.
I would appreciate some help now before giving up.

Wifi tether not showing up on Android 4.0+ phones

Hi there,
I have an unlocked T-Mobile mytouch 3G that I'm trying to share my wifi connection from. My computer can see the WiFi tether with no issues.
My wife's Droid Pro running a version of Android 2.3 can see the connection(as an Ad Hoc connection).
However my Galaxy SIII and my friends S2 both on Android 4.0+ cannot see the wifi signal.
I'm currently using Wifi Tether Root but have tried a few different applications. Any ideas of what I can do?
