Hi! I've an issue on my xperia mini pro.
More than often the back key (which is a touch sensitive key) stops working.
I can't resolve this definitely. Things I tried:
- reset settings (does not work)
- total reset (works for a couple of weeks than the problem comes back)
- killing services with android system cleaner (works sometimes, I see that maybe is related to the process "Home of sony ericsson" -the stock launcher v2.1.x)
- switched to go launcher ex (worked for a full day, the problem came back)
- prevent various apps and services to startup (did not work)
- remove various apps and services (didn't work)
- update firmware to 2.3.4 (only solved the problem of the black screen that won't unlock)
what in the world should I do to fix this tedious issue?
tnx for answers, forgive me for my spaghetti english

Rom is pre-rooted, you will need to unlock bootloader and flash a different kernel.
Hardware keyboard will not be working, you'll need to get the files from the CM7 stable build for this.
I would not endorse going down this route unless you want to be running CM7 anyway, and there is no guarantee it will help.

thank you! You're right: I don't want to flash the previous version just to set up cm7! Not cause I don't like it but because with the previous version of the stock kernel I was having a much more big problem: the black screen (some others had the same problem).
Maybe I'll go on this way, waiting for ICS hoping it'll fix up everything!
btw, how's my english?
Maybe u r sweating or ur finger is kinda wet when u press it,our phone is unresponsive to fluid, except u buy an active
xperia mini pro! not active!
that would be true for the settings key too!
I think is a sort of bug of the rom... I'm getting it very often! damn!
I noticed that sometimes the screen light "shakes", like a vibration, and so the lights behing the touch keys...
the light sensor reacts to reflections of the light and shadows I make when using the phone. This is a minor thing but the back key sometimes makes really hard using the phone!

I moved from Stock 2.3.4 samsung rom to Cyanogenmod 7 (stable).
I have one problem though, I cant seem to disable the keylights of the two buttons, one on either side of the home button. It is annoying as hell when I use my phone in a dark room.
Can anyone help me?
No one knows?
PS.
I think I am gonna move to MIUI ROM, this still has many bugs ... Get a lot of FC on random apps.
Is there not an option in CM7? On stock its in Settings>Display>Touch key light duration.

Nope, I looked for it 1st. Could not find it.

there is an app called "Screen filter" it's ad free and free - it is exactly what you are looking for, and it operates via a widget... you can put a dark filter on your screen to make the screen very dark, and you have the option to disable the button back lights too... you can create several widgets with whatever level of darkness you desire... I couldn't use my phone at night without it!!
You glorious bastard! I've been searching all over for a solution to this problem!
Accept my deepest thanks.
I've installed the latest Cyanogen Mod is cynogen 9 with ics4. and everything seems to work just fine but my physical keyboard isn't lighted.
How to fix that problem?
Even I face this problem. What I do is that after unlocking my xmp I change the brightness a little bit using the status bar and then my soft keys light up and also my hw keyboard keys light up.

Do you mean that every time you unlock your phone, you have to play with brightness to have back-light back on the Hardware Keyboard ?
I have to admit I am waiting be sure of this information before I switch to CM9, this and to be sure I'll be able to switch my hardware keyboard to AZERTY easily, and that the Blue and Sym keys are working properly too. I bought a XMP to have a small device with a Hardware Keyboard, so this last point is essential to me.

Hey ! Sorry for the necro posting, but I think it's a valuable info (maybe it has already been told but...)
I flashed my XMP yesterday with Cyanogenmod9 RC2, and the keyboard is just fine :
- Easy (in the menu and not buy an ugly copy of a stock rom file in root mode) to change the layout (AZERTY needed in France).
- Backlighted as it should.
- Blue and SYM Keys working as attended.
The only thing is that you have to use the kernel (boot.img) found in the FXP130 and not the one included on the file by CyanogenMod.

Hey Guys,
I've flashed CM9 & CM10 (preview) and can't get the physical home button to work. Not sure if it's a setting somewhere or a known bug. I thought I saw a .zip somewhere that could help but it was for the Galaxy s2. When I click the button the buttons on each side light up but it never takes me back to the home screen from wherever I am.
Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks!
Works fine for me on cm9 and cm10

Wierd, I am on T-Mobile. I wipe date then wipe cash and devlak, then flash CM9 and gapps and reboot.
HELP!!
Update: When I click the physical button it lights up the two surrounding it, but doesn't take me home. Any way to make that happen?
Same thing just happen to me, nut sure why. Home button works in recovery though so it's some type of bug

I'm running cm10.2 right now, but this issue is independent of Rom. Right now about 30% of the time my capacitive buttons won't respond, and sometimes the recent apps button starts registering phantom touches all over the place and I can't do anything unless I turn the screen off and on again. I'd like to know if there's a way to completely disable the capacitive buttons, not just the backlight, and turn on the on screen buttons. Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

Same here...
*BUMP* I have the same problem with my phone... Any fix for this? Running CM 10.1 RC. I have tried those scripts to disable the bottons so that I can use the softkeys, but they won't disable. Any ideas XDA?

I haven't been able to disable the hardware keys but I have activated the soft keys by adding this line to my build.prop
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
They work fantastically now. Hope this helps you too.
