Hey guys,
I am pretty new at the whole flashing thing so please be kind.
At the moment I am trying to get CyanogenMod 7.2 onto my X10 but Flasher wont see my phone and keeps spitting out:
INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
No matter what I do. I'm running standard Sony 2.3.3 rom atm.
Have baseband version 2.1.71
Kernel Version is "2.6.29-00054-g5f01537"
2nd line of stuff says "[email protected] #1"
I have been following the guides n everything but I'm not sure what I'm looking for to fix it.
Any help would be appreciated!
1. Test, USB debugging and Unknown sources is "On" in ROM settings?
2. Test in Windows Device manager, is your phone is visible as an SEMC HSUSB Device? (That is, whether the driver is properly installed)

Have USB Debugging and Unknown Sources turned on, and in Device Manager there is a thing thats "Sony Ericsson Sa0102 ADB Interface Driver" - is that what I should be looking for?
I am bout to Tear my hair out in frustration with this now...
Been getting nothing but this if i try and get it to stay in flashmode:
INFO - <- This level is successfully initialized
INFO - Flashtool Version 0.6.5 built on 2012-01-04 19:11:08
INFO - Device connected in flash mode
(then about 2 sec later)
INFO - Device disconnected
INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
What am I doing wrong?
And I still can't get around "For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode" either...
I am trying to do http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254087 So I can do http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911364 - if I don't get it sorted soon i'm gonna smash it lol
For installation this ROM (CyanogenMod 7.2 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360889) it is not necessary to use FlashTool, installation is done by CWM at satisfaction of following requirements:
You need a stock or custom rom with Android 2.3.*
You need ClockWorkMod5 installed
Copy FW on SDcard
Reboot into ClockWorkMod, wipe data/factory reset, format /system in CWM before flashing this rom.
Flash FW`s .zip from recovery
Reboot your phone (first boot will take some time)

I'm stuck same as M2geek. I used superoneclick to get root. Installed rom manager. Went in there to install clockworkmod and there is a long list of phones. Way longer than the list when you do rom manager and cwm on a samsung device.
Not one single Sony phone in the list?
Which one should I pick? HTC? Samsung? Acer? Dell? Google? Huawei? LG? Motorola? ZTE?
Good chance trial and error could soft brick me fast....
Has anyone tried using rom manager on a sony ericsson x10? How are these kids saying "i installed clockworkmod"?
No luck installing recovery with flashtool even after I installed a ton of crap to my PC like software development kit and Java which says it disabled the android debugging bridge....
Steep learning curve and no joy. I just wanna throw it the toilet. Maybe it will bubble. Bubbles are fun.
I am gonna do what it says not to and install recovery twice with flashtool next....
In I got it to boot into blue recovery and it fails to mount SD card. Says it's busy.
Another video tutorial showed using apk manager so I went and got that off the market. His showed xrecovery on youtube, and no such item showed up in the window I had. Only apps from "my apps" list appeared in the apk tool.
I am about to throw a dart at that long list I reviewed in clockworkmod.

I started it off. I started my way at the top in order to work my way down. 1st, acer liquid gave me an error, then advent vega actually work and installed an older version of clockwork mod.
It won't do anything however when I click Reboot into Recovery it just sits there and doesn't even blink.
Commtiva Z71 actually rebooted but not into recovery. It booted normally as did Dell streak, and Dell streak 7 just now. Elocity had a cool box show up for a moment (I bet I was being prompted) then proceeded to boot normally. Might have to come back to that if all else fails....

Same thing for the galaxy tab at&t. I did not get a very clear picture of it because it doesn't last very long and I can't hold still for such a short time. It's a pretty little present box with an arrow pointing up out of it and I wonder if I should push volume down or what would put this into action.....

Geeksphone ONE booted normal. No joy. Same for geeks phone 0, klicking reboot into recovery does nothing but reboot the phone normally, same for google galaxy nexus cdma, and the next one down for GSM, install, but won't boot into recovery.
Edit:
Google Galaxy Nexus One, S, and S 4G... no joy, install but no recovery.

The first 1 was just rebooted normally it installed but just rebooted normally. Next two down the list? They turned up present boxes again and I mashed buttons, nothing, just a pause and ended up booting normally.

Trying every single 1 was driving me insane so I skipped ahead, I had to, samsung galaxy s 2 and I got a present box again. I selected to boot into recovery repeatedly and tried different button combinations on the present box. No joy. I bet I need to plug into a pc for it to light up.
I am thinking Rom Manager won't give me a clockworkmod on this Ericsson. Not one that will boot into recovery anyway.
Stuck. Holding three buttons just boots normally.
Sigh.

any suggestion?:S
Is your phone set up with an android market account? I've actually had this problem before and what you do is just install a launcher from the android market and it automatically installs on your phone and it should work perfectly. I still recommend you should reinstall the apps you lost because if you factory reset your phone it will be just as you described. hope it helps!
No , i cant login in with my account, i reset the phone with the factory reset, and when i turn it on, i cant connect with the google servers.
Have someone text you a link to the apk of a launcher, when you get the notification click the download link and when it finished downloading select the download from the notification bar. It'll prompt you to install. If you don't have unknown sources checked then it'll ask you to turn that option on. Once you have a launcher installed then your phone will function properly (depending on what you removed) until you can get the stock rom flashed.
Our you can go straight to the flashing part. Find a rom - stock if you'd like - and flash it. There should be some kind of stock flasher available if there aren't any roms, like an RUU or something... I think RUUs are only for HTC devices, but there should be something similar for your device.
If your phone has a subforum here on XDA, check there for stock or custom roms.

thanks for the response, i have a question; the launcher can be installed via adb?, im gonna try your solution first.
Well I tried the message metod and I apparently delete the default browser, so I tried to install pro launcher via adb but the cmd command says offline device, i think is because the usb debugging is off?, i cant activate it because the screen is black:S
Just flash your rom via Odin. It safer and easy
Odin? what is that? its compatible with the motolola spice key xt316? thanks for the response.
The problem is i cant put my phone in usb debugging because the screen is black, is there another method?
boot ur phone in recovery mode,
this does not need usb-debugging to be On,
and u can use adb...
worth to try
thanks dude im gonna try now.
I put my phone in recovery mode, and i plug the phone to my pc,but when i type adb devices, it doesnt appear.
in the recovery mode there is this options:
reboot system now
apply update from sd card
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
download nb0 from sd card
when i tried to install using the adb install comand it says error: device not found

ya i think i know why
its the USB drivers for hboot
u need to install drivers for the phone (hboot drivers)
so the machine recognize the phone when plugged
--- or ---
u can get the apk and pack it as an update.zip file (google this to find out how)
then use the option (apply update from sd card)
i think this will install the apk

i think there is some kind of types/drivers
not 100% related to manufacturer
i mean a driver may work even if its for another manufacturer
anyways try the drivers in ur hand (if u have any)
or try to find "google usb drivers" online somewhere
if failed...
check this list and try to get the proper drivers

My phone has a major problem. I'll explain the steps I took to screw it up this badly.
1.) Root phone and install a ICS rom
2.) Market doesnt work so I reinstall another market/vending.apk app from mediafire
3.) Market still didnt work so I install another rom
4.) Then I use that rom and rom manager is gone so I install another one I downloaded form mediafire.
5.) That rom manager only verifies my phone as a optimus c but i still installed clockwork mod
6.) The version Clockwork mod does not work
7.) I installed Xionia recovery instead
8.) I accidentally, in xionia, do a factory reset that bricks my phone.
9.) I could still use adb to force files on and try to recovery the phone by flashing files
10.) I flash a recovery image file and now here is the HUGE problem
11.) MY PHONE WONT BOOT UP AT ALL, ALL THAT SHOWS IS THE LG SYMBOL AND THEN BLANK SCREEN. WHEN I HOLD DOWN,POWER,HOME IT DOES THE SAME THING (BLANK SCREEN). AND WHEN I TRY TO USE ADB I GET THAT MY PHONE IS CONECTED BUT,
c:\adb devices
List of devices attacched
A100001944D988 recovery
Then I try ADB shell
C:\adb shell
But I get
/ #
and i cant complete any commands
when i try adb remount
C:\adb remount
remount failed: Invalid Argument
Can Someone Please Help
Same issue
Maybe the Virgin Mobile Store will just give me a new phone cause there is no actual proof that I rooted the phone.
Before trying this method be 100% sure that recovery is not working hold volume down + power + home continuously for around one minute if u get fastboot error, follow this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1088046thread but still if u see nothing u have to use kdz method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883314 or see this link for a picture guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060121

Where the hell do I go for an answer to this problem: rooting cannot be done as flashed files will be lost on reboot.

Hi. Thanks for getting back.
I have gone up and down the forums for ideas. (for over 3 days now).
The story so far:
I have tried to flash the overcome .tar file for my model using odin 1.83, but get a red box and a Fail! : error 0X140005. I followed the Overcome guide VERY carefully, got the yellow COM box, put the right file in the right box, but when I hit the start button, it fails.
I can boot into "Download". I have tried restore after wiping the cache.
With normal power up, the OS seems to work partially, in that I can do all the things I want to do, but all the settings, WiFi passwords, uploaded files etc disappear on reboot, and any uninstalled programmes re-appear. It seems that it won't permanently write to, or erase from, "long term" memory.
Before this,I have done a full cache wipe and factory restore but no difference.
Thoughts:
a) I am wondering if a previous occupant has tinkered with it and messed up the memory partitions? is it all RAM?
b) As it is stuck, it is stuck with USB debugging disabled. this will be maintained on reboot: could this interfere with Odin?
Any suggestions would be very, very gratefully accepted.

Dude i ask this in another forum you posted, did you use odin to install recovery or not? if you did then just boot into recovery and wipe all - then flash galaxytab or any flashable roms that way.

As I said in the second paragraph: I tried to use odin to install recovery, but got the big red square. The file did not transfer.

No your second paragraph said you flashed overcome. Not recovery
So if odin is not installing recovery can you boot into fastboot? Power off then press power n volume down then go to fastboot mode and install recovery that way. Check this thread for info. . http://www.galaxytabforums.net/forum/galaxy-tab-10-1-general-discussions/1044-my-galaxy-tab-10-1-wont-power-up.html
Then flash a cwm flashable ROM

hi again; well no success so far.
- I downloaded and installed SDK (software development kit: for other noobs like me)
- I downloaded and installed recovery.img, and installed the google USB drivers from the extras
- I checked that the fastboot.exe, adb.exe (android debug bridge) and recovery.img were all in the platform tools folder.
- got into "download":- odin mode
- plugged in the tab and tried to launch "adb start-server" from cmd screen
(I was in the right directory at the command line), but no cigar: nada.
- I went back and did the PDAnet routine, but still no joy, no devices shown
there were no error messages either, which made me think the usb was not communicating with the tab.
To try this out I used Kies to transfer a photo file to the tab, and viewed on the tab it after disconnecting, so tranfers do take place.
Sure enough, after rebooting, the file was gone, like all the other settings and changes made in the past.
I also tried adb when the tablet was on and I had checked usb debugging. In this case, adb recognised the device and returned the serial number.
It does not do this when in cwm mode as it will not remember to keep debugging on when I power down.
Any other ideas anyone? can I switch debugging on from the command line before I try to recover?
FG, (now getting a sore head and worrying if I have p***d my money up the wall.)
Funny, when things get really tough, the helpers disappear.
Still no solution.
Oh dear: silence again.

AFAIK you won't get a response in ADB when the tablet is in download mode but you should when the tablet is in CWM recovery mode.
If it were me I'd odin a stock factory recovery to the device and a stock factory rom for it. Then i'd boot into stock recovery and do the factory reset to see if that cleans things up. You should probably link to the source of the files you're downloading as well as provide specific model of your device so people can verify that you're flashing the right files.
I'm totally confused by your steps here
you went to odin mode and used adb? or did you go into fastboot and adb the recovery?
step by step here
a quick overview of it is to get your tab into ODIN mode and use ODIN to reload a copy of the stock image to your tab. This erases all of your previous data but you can reinstall those later. But at least it gets you back to a working tab - Note this is for the 7510 - the wifi tab
1) Download this file - MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
2) extract the file
you should have the following
a file called GT-P7510_USB_Driver_v1_3_2360_0-Escape - this file is the USB driver for your PC, if you don't have the driver installed already, run this
a folder named Odin3 v1.85 - this contains the ODIN executable file
a folder named KME Odin - which contains 2 files - android_fastboot_emmc_full_p4_16G_32G.pit" and a "P7510XABKME_P7510UEKME_HOME.tar"
3) Power down the tab
4) press POWER and Volume Down at the same time until it powers up and you should see 2 logos - USB and triangle (note the retail wifi version might show 2 different logos, android on right and bag on left - left is recovery and right is Odin/download)
5) press volume down to move the selection to the triangle (or the icon on the right)
6) press volume up to lock in selection. You are now in ODIN/download mode
assuming all your drivers are installed to your PC, plug in the tab via the USB to your PC
run the ODIN executable
only Auto-reboot and F.reset Time should be ticked
after a minute, the ID:Com box should turn yellow -if not you may have driver issues (try this driver http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDo...SB-Driver-for-Windows-x86-Download-96692.html)
7) tick PDA and click the PDA button and navigate to the KME Odin folder and select "P7510XABKME_P7510UEKME_HOME.tar"
8) select the PIT button and navigate to the KME Odin folder and select the "android_fastboot_emmc_full_p4_16G_32G.pit"
9) Select START
it should start writing the image to your tab and once done, should reboot you back into stock
in case you want to go ahead and flash 3.2 -
use this pit file - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=784889&d=1321486916
and use this for the PDA http://hotfile.com/dl/135008863/06c...EKMM_P7510XABKMM_P7510UEKMM.rar.html?expire=1
if it asks you for Password for the 3,2 file use : sampro.pl
when resorting to odin and first booting up, you might get asked for a password, the way around this is to
a) power off,
b) press power n volume down until you get 2 icons left is recovery right is download.
c) press volume down to select recovery icon then volume up to lock it, you should then see the recovery menu
d) then use volume buttons until wipe data/factory reset is highlighted press power to do it
e)after its done wiping, select reboot n you should be ready
Now the key thing here is installing the right drivers - after installing teh driver, connect the tab and see if the drivers are installed - go to your pc control panel and check if you get a triangle with an exclamation point. If there is, right click on it and select update driver, then manually choose device - navigate through and find the Android or samsung device (cant remember the name off the top of my head)
if you get stuck, report on which part you got stuck on - currently it seems like you're mixing and matching different steps so it is a little confusing

It does not do this when in cwm mode as it will not remember to keep debugging on when I power down.
Any other ideas anyone? can I switch debugging on from the command line before I try to recover?
FG, (now getting a sore head and worrying if I have p***d my money up the wall.)

Hi again, sorry to confuse you but I was following your suggestions in post #7 of this thread. when I got to step 5 of that post, I got no response from the device: installed PDAnet to get over the driver issue. and no joy.
When trying to install .tar or PIT files I get a big red box, even though the yellow COM box looks good.
When trying the data erase/ factory reset option in the "Download" mode, I get the error message "Can't access to /system/csc/XEU/system.
Steps 7/8/9 in your post above do not work: I have tried them a few times.
Sorry, I have run out of options, and thank you for your help.

Sorry to bump an old thread
I'm having the exact same problem.
Rooted the 8180 with SuperOneClick, installed Rom Manager, from Rom Manager installed CWM 8160 version with sucess, and whenever trying to boot into recovery mod the phone just hangs while showing the hourglass icon.
I tried reflashing the CWM and it still hangs
Im still running the stock firmware/rom
Can you share how you solved this problem?
Hi, I had a similar issue and did a reboot in to the CWM by holding power, volume up and the "search button" (?) the right one any way. Then did a wipe/factory reset.

So you could only boot into CWM by pressing power+volume+search? The regular way (power+volume) would lock up like it does to me, is that it?
Anyway I tried your key combination and it still freezes...

Bug with rom manager, you should try flashing atleast 3 times and then try and go into recovery, happened to me also, just flash again through rom amanager.

I already flashed about 5 times and still freezes
Hi,as for the fastboot instructions - I've found this to be a great help in getting adb and fastboot to work on my Win7 x64 installs,so you might want to give it a try. Also,I'm gonna upload in a bit the earlier recovery + recovery manager (if you want to try that before you play around with adb/fastboot) to flash it to your device + the device drivers.
Edit - The link for the file - http://ubuntuone.com/14mi7lUkJelsrNBr4z5Uy2 - 12.5 MB - contains the older recovery (you can still try to flash the newer one first if you want), 2 different driver packs and the aforementioned recovery manager.

Thank you! Im trying recovery manager as I type this, I find it curious it says "Currently installed recovery: unrecognized"
As for the driver, I already had it installed from when I rooted the phone.
EDIT: So I installed the up to date recovery (recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-u8160) with Recovery Manager, still unrecognized and still freezes after booting into recovery.
Installed the one you supplied (ClockworkMod-u8160-v0.1) and got the exact same results, unrecognized and freeze

In that case you might want to try the doomsday option - fastboot (not really, hell - it's actually rather useful + if you follow that website you also get adb up and working too). As for the 'unrecognized' alert,I remember getting it too once upon a time, but I have to admit - I haven't used the app myself since when I made the jump from the stock 2.2.1 ROM to a custom froyo build,so I can't recall for the moment what I did to fix that error

Will do. Besides the fastboot recovery command what else do I need to do from the phone side?
Does fastboot display any feedback or log about the flashing/installation?

Nothing specific -you just have to reboot in fastboot mode (just restart the phone while pressing Power and Volume Down. Windows should chirp and install the drivers automagically - afterwards just use that command discussed earlier and it should flash your recovery without any additional prompts (it should only print out a confirmation of a successful flash) and you should have the CWM ready to go
Edit: I put my device into fastboot mode on a clean Windows install (a Win8 Consumer Preview) and it did autodetect and install the relevant driver without restarting itself
No luck... Now it's driver issues
When booting the phone with either the vol up or down pressed and pluging in the USB my PC isn't recognizing the driver, I used both drivers you sent me.
Initially it's detected as Android 1.0 device, upon fetching the drivers it gets named "Android Sooner Single ADB Interface".
As I refresh device manager it goes back to Android 1.0 with an exclamation mark.
I think it's a driver signature issue, I'll try again in a couple of hours in a different PC
edit:in debug mode I have no driver issues and I can even detect my phone with ADB
Finally!
Tried it in another computer, auto downloaded some ASUS adb driver and installed fine.
Flashed latest CWM recovery with fastboot and now I'm able to boot into CWM!
Thank you so much for your help!
Sry for bumping.
So, i had the same trouble with the drivers. But i just downloaded HiSuite directly from the Huawei Site and these fix my problem with drivers to use adb without troubles . Hope this help someone.
BTW, Thanks bk109!
It did helped me thx man

Hello, I'm a little bit new to all this, so any help and detailed instructions are very very helpfull.
So I have Gigabyte GSmart Aku A1 device (MediaTek 6589), I don't know if it's bricked or what but apparently is not working quite well.
When I turn on my phone, it just loads and loads and loads and nothing happens (waited for about 4-5 hours), that was starting to happen after I somehow installed CWM on my device with some tutorial, CWM worked for the first time and after next reboot, it disappeared and stock recovery came back (and the problem with infinite loading screen - only showing logo).
I have ADB drivers installed, SDK aswell, tried to put stock firmware (got it from official site) and in like 1/4 of installation it says:
Code:
symlink: some symlinks failed
After that, I tried to install few versions that I downloaded from that official site, but same error again and again. (I tried to install with SD card and with ADB too. ADB is only working when I go to "apply update from ADB" in recovery. I have also used 2 different types of SD cards.)
That didn't worked either, so I got to some russian forum, and using google translator I downloaded 5-6 types of custom ROM's / Firmwares. That didn't worked either, one time when installing one of those ROM's - it said something about signature..
After that I was trying to install those ROM's with ADB and with SD Cards aswell, but turns out that every single time I get error saying: "Installation aborted.".
I have ofcourse tried to wipe data/factory and to wipe cache too, but nothing helps..
Also, when I'm in ADB console, when I type any command besides adb sideload or adb devices, I get error saying: "error: closed". I cant get into fastboot with adb console.
I really don't know what to do anymore, so any help would be very very appreciated. Thank you for your help in advance, if you need any videos, pictures or something, just tell me.
Edit: When I go to "wipe data/factory reset" in recovery, it says: "Mount /data error.".

i would look for stock rom in form of full mtkdroidtools backup and preloader drivers for your mtk chipset
and flash it using flashtool (it uses preloader[you can determine if it's available/undamaged by turning phone off and opening device manager on pc and plugging phone to pc if there will be a flash in device manager before the charging starts it will flash ])
