[Q] USA Band in service menu, now no radio - Motorola Droid RAZR

I have managed to screw up the radio (Choose USA Only as band in service menu and can't change back) on my XT910 Non EFIGS Retail. I’ve read that only way to solve this is to flash original SBP. But I guess I can't do that either as there doesn't seem to be a public available SBP for NonEFIGSRetail.en.EU. Am I correct? Or is there any other way to solve this?
I can't believe that there is such a way to basically destroy the phone in a few clicks

Did you try wipe factory reset from recovery ? It should do the trick.

Yes, didn't help. And now I used RSD Lite with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21285410&postcount=63 as the poster said it was the correct version. But now I'm on a different release, XT910.Retail.en.EU. Don't know if it matters, exept if I need to send it to warranty service though. But the radio works now at least

Just for future reference, I have success rapidly going between Airplane mode and the *#*#4636#*#* menu (using home key) to change the bands.
Eventually - you'll get it to switch. Takes a few tries and it needs to be quick.

Reflash the radio.img with the same baseband version using fastboot. Find the radio related thread.

hi i need help. i recently flashed 1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.4-4.5.1A-1_SUN-154...sbf using rsd lite to my photon. however after flashing, i lost 3g, GSM, umts connections. i cant get any signal with my photon even when manually selecting networks. were using a SIM card here and the phone doesn't seem to recognize the network anymore aside from sprint. it kept on trying to activate the device but to no avail. i really need your help guys. thanks
Try doing a factory data reset, I had an issue with 4g not working after doing a nandroid backup with the bootstrap. Doing the reset fixed it.. Here are some simple directions how to do it.
1) Power off phone. Then power up holding Power and volume down button
2) Screen will come up with "Fastboot" press Volume down and cycle through till you get "Android Recovery" Press Volume up to select it
3) Wait for the Triangle / Android
4) Press both Volume up and volume down ... A menu will pop up..
5) Press volume down and select "Wipe Partition" by pressing power button to select it.
6) Tap volume down to select "wipe data/Factory reset" again tap power key toselct.
Once done tap power key when done using the "reboot system now"

It is currently current. I believe Loki will keep it updated for a little while anyway.

Great... now i dont want to reflash
Your reflashing should be fine. I have flashed several times since and other than that odd anomaly with the connectivity I havent had any issues since.
Sounds like all you want is the most recent SBF, flashing it via rsd is straight forward.

Now does reflashing fully reset the phone? Remove root? Will i need to reactivate the phone?
Flashing will remove root, you will have to re-root afterwards. Use the method you are familar with, torpedo, one click root.
Activating will be done over the air, OTA.
You should as a precaution get your MSL., MIN, MDN = phone number.
MIN can be found Settings---> About phone ----> Status..
Getting your MSL you can either call Sprint or you can extract it via methods in this thread..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365058
So if it does fail to register OTA you can type ##MSL# and then input the MIN and MDN manually.
still not working
i just did a factory reset just as you've instructed but it's still not working. i live in asia and our telecom company here uses 3G. when i tried to review the phone's Sprint settings it says that the 4G and 3G is not activated. could this be the problem because the lost its activation after flashing to stock sbf? im trying to activate it via OTA but it always fails(probably because we don't have Sprint here). how can i activate 4G/3G back again overseas? thanks.
First off sorry I was of no help.
I am in the US let me see if I can find a few people who I can get you in touch with. You can PM them and chances are they can better answer your question or get you in touch with someone who can answer your question...
try getting in touch with the following through PM.
thundercles I think he is helping with the GSM lock and may have a better answer for your questions.
I know you will need some more information about the carrier you are trying to get the phone to work with. I would suggest checking for the APN information for the carrier you are trying to work with. Check the howard forums and or do searches for APN and the carrier.
Check out this thread since it deals with people using the photon in foreign countries. Chances are good you can PM any of them directly and get answers.

Either way if you do get a resolution to your problem please post how you fixed it in this thread so that the next guy/gal can see some of what you did to fix the issue.

Also is an SBF have all of the Stock Applications? or do i need a all in one Zip File???
i want my phone the exact way i got it...
I also need the stock update.zip..... thx
Too many asking differing questions.
Bradley, the sbf will have the stock applications no need to get anything else unless you are going for something specific like deodexing.
Inputing the information is simple once you get your six didgit MSL, either from calling sprint, or using the method from the thread I linked to you. Calling sprint sometimes you will get someone who will not get you the MSL. Sometimes recalling them will get you someone who will give you the information.
I gaurantee that the method from the forum does work, it just takes a little patience but eventually you will get your MSL. I suppose either way will work but getting it from using the radio com program will be more rewarding since you can learn something about the phone.
I would suggest even if you do get the MSL from sprint that you for ****s and giggles use the other method. Always good to know how to get the number incase you misplace it.
Okay inputting your information is easy once you have your 6 didgit MSL. You will input it into the dialer as if you were going to make a phone call.
example msl = 123456
##123456# into the phone dialer.
Soon as you do a field will show up where you can input your information incase the phone fails to OTA register. Chances are good you will not need to do this. Good luck
Now as for the DR. I am unable to help him further since he needs to supply more information about getting his phone to work. I pointed him in the right direction and who to ask.

Brad, there are other things the msl is used for. If you were to input ##data# into the dialpad it will bring up a set of fields that you would need the MSL number to alter the contents.
There are reasons for doing this editing the multimedia field proxy information can speed up and smooth video streaming. Enough about this get your phone working first and then mess with this stuff later.

Ok so all i need is the sbf? I dont need the update.zip?
Ok how do if ny ohone has build 6 will flashing build7 cause issues and what is the difference?
Sorry im new to android
Corect no need for update.zip
198-7 is an unoficial release, it was leaked. It is however the build that almost all current roms stem from. If you plan on playing around with pseudo-roms such as jokerskinny 4G then you will want to be using 198-7.
198-6 is latest OTA push.

[Q] GN2 Will Not Connect back to Verizon Network

Hey guys,
I ran the Suckit Verizon boot unlocker exploit, and it was successful. At which point I used TW Recovery to flash Android Revolution HD 8.0 (N7100 ROM). My phone wouldn't connect to the Verizon network, saying I did not insert the proper SIM card. I found this strange, but realized Verizon locks their network to international phones. I then used the Verizon Toolkit to flash back to stock recovery and ROM. After doing so, I still had no luck in activating my phone.
I called tech support (now having stock everything) and they told me it was likely my SIM card. After spending 2 hours at the store today, it is clearly not the SIM card. They have no idea what the problem is...
When I flashed Android Revolution, I wiped my efs. Could that be the problem? Is it possible to flash a new EFS or COM3? I have no clue how to reactivate to the network..
Anyone have this problem? I did a search on both Suckit Verizon and the Verizon toolkit thread and no one appeared to suffer from this. Please help! Any solutions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Will update if those guys at Verizon come through.
Definitely has to do with wiping my EFS and not saving it. Under Settings > About > Status IMEI is unknown as well as all other carrier info.
Can someone send me their EFS or is their a way to restore the EFS without having backed it up?
Flash the full Odin restore image and that should fix the problem. Note, it will wipe your data and re-lock the bootloader, but it should at least connect to the network again.
If the stock Odin doesn't work since your imei is unknown this may be what you need, but listen to imnuts first

Flashed stock rom. No luck. Now I have to root back, as one of the prerequisites is being rooted. Will get back.
I kind of had this same problem right after I rooted/unlocked and before flashing any ROMs. I was getting signal bars but kept getting a cannot connect to network error every time I tried to place a call. I called customer service and they "reset" my account, whatever that means but it still didn't work. Started driving to the Verizon store and decided to try one last factory reset and it started working! An IT guy at my work said the account reset plus factory reset got my device sync'd with Verizon signal again. Don't know if what he said is true...don't know why it worked...don't know if this will help you but I thought I would share my experience. I know what you are going through so good luck!

I had almost the same problem using MIUI for AT&T's variant. I was able to get most functionality back by accessing the hidden menu and doing the ##RTN#, but still cannot get 4G LTE back. Maybe this will help you get started too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36163537
According to the OP instructions - which I have done entirely correct. Put phone in Debugging, Went to Qualcomm settings in Hidden menu and set to "RMNET + DM + MODEM" , connected to the proper COM port, clicked the READ on top, however when I go to click the second read to populate the information -> Says cannot set device into DM mode.
The instructions and accompanied video do not reference having to place the device into DM mode at all. The fact that I am getting this error message is also a unique problem.
Anyone know what this could mean or how to fix it? Could it be due to the USB Qualcomm settings not "taking or shifting", although it does confirm that I changed by saying "Saved"
Also, can Verizon Wireless sync my IMEI in store if I bring the original box with the IMEI barcode on it ? Can they flash / scan it to the phone?
anybody?

I know with a fact that the stores do not carry any flashing software for any smartphones. So there is nothing they can do.

Selected "Select GSM/UMTS Band" on Sprint XT25126 - GSM is dead

Some while ago I unlocked my XT1526 by installing the "Network" application (which is relly the same as the test menu you get with a keycode on some Motos) from playstore, and selecting "LTA/GSM only (auto)" from the menu brought up there...
The phone worked in India on 3G, and now in Italy on 3G as well. Thinking I would be able to select specific bands, I went into the "Network" to select GSM/UMTS Band and ttried the possible settings (my phone was offering USA Band, Cellular, and PCS).
Total outcome - phone no longer works with GSM. So, I was clever....
Google doesn't yield all that much, best info was here => http://www.droidforums.net/threads/3g-network-disappears.111409/
There the Op eventually fixed it by flashing droid sbf from Google.
Regrettably, there's no such SBF (full firmware restore file) for the Sprint XT1526 available. Any other recommendations what I might do? I'd go for a full firmware restore, and there appear to be a few good threads on FW restore, but not for a Sprint model...

My phone is on 5.something at whatever Sprint currently is... Any rumors whether another update might be pushed out by Sprint soon that might "magically" fix this by overwriting the current FW and settings?
Final warning - there's not a lot of discussion about this option, but it seems it has caused nothing but grief for all that used it.
Thanks!
Unlock bootloader and erase modemst1 and modernst2
You are done.

Phone menu in, Network Out !

Hi,
Following a tips in an android newsblog (In France), i was visiting the *#*#4636#*#* menu.
By curiosity, I tap on the menu "Sélectionner une bande radio" (choose a baseband).
I've only a "United States" choice but after did nothing. I lose all my phone network.
Just the data work and the sms.
What can I do to this ?
I think to flash a baseband firmware but where can I find one ?
Thanks for everyone who could save my phone

Switch your radio band back to automatic? Go to *#*#4636#*#* and click the overview (3 dots) at the top right. Hit select radio band, then hit automatic. Reboot phone.
Thanks but no auto option for me :/
I've done a Factory reset but no change.

I try to put network in Only 3G or 2G and got nothing. Maybe that's why there's no call but sms and data. No VoLTE in France.
When selecting United States band (that I didn't want to do), i break the 3G and 2G connection.
Hi,
I've speak with the Motorola support in France.
In the hidden menu, i've selected the united states band so now I only received the LTE (the only which are the same than here). No 3G and no 2G.
And because We've got no VoLTE, I can't use calls.
And no method to revert this process.
Go in warranty...
Actually there should be a way, because I have the selection:
Automatic
Europe
Automatic
United States
You probably have to update to a current stock ROM so the modem firmware updates and you might be able to select a different baseband... all theory but if you still have the phone, it's worth a try.
edit: I'm using a custom ROM, so I may be wrong.
For you there is no way of using a custom ROM without having problems with warranty.
If still relevant, I made the same mistake with my stock Moto xt1650-03 and the only way managed to restore signal was by using fastboot erase modemst commands. Though I have seen people not recommending this method, it worked for me.

I cannot boot into fastboot (or recovery)

Hello, I have a LG G5 RS988. I've been fiddling with custom ROMs a bit trying to get the signal to be stable on AT&T. I had finally given up and was going to just try it stock rooted. I don't remember what order i took these actions, but the end result is that i cannot boot into fastboot mode or recovery mode (TWRP was installed but is now gone).
I believe my first attempt was to wipe -> flash [LG-RS98811d-Flashable.COMPLETE-ARB01]
I think this is where i encountered the bootloops and quit messing with it for a day or so. When i came back to it, i've tried literally everything i can find to do to get it back to stock.
I have used LGUP with the uppercut 1.0.0.0 file to 'upgrade' it back to RS98811c_00_ARB01.kdz or any other .kdz i could find. While i had it in fastboot i had attempted to flash some things, but it eventually wouldn't boot so i set it into download mode. Now i can boot into android 6.XX but i have no access to the fastboot screen. It just shows the battery charging percentage...
Please help.
I've already mentioned this in another thread, but you will have to send this in for repair. Flashing lower KDZ versions even with the same ARB version can hard brick your device. It can be repaired through the 'firehose' method that needs non-free proprietary firehose file, partition xml, and stock mbm/bin images. Or through the JTAG box method which is what I do. This model RS988 is the hardest to repair because it is uncommon unlike the other variants. You won't be able to fix it another way otherwise. Also AT&T blocks LTE access to non AT&T devices especially generic unlocked versions from Huawei, OnePlus, Google, and Xiaomi. Even if you do connect, you'll fall back to 3G/HSPA/HSDPA/HSPA+ when calling or temporary LTE loss, but can reset the radio by toggling airplane mode. If you check your IMEI through them it will show up as generic and you won't get LTE access through their whitelist. You could try to call them and explain this issue, and do insist, you should end up with a higherup tech support person that can add your phone to their list. I haven't tried this since I'm on TracFone an MVNO, so I doubt this will work, but it has for others. This LTE issue also happens for Verizon users, as they only like white-listed phones to use their network.

You could expect to pay around $50-70, but do read my dm. Don't purchase remote PC repair methods. They could install malware on your computer, and the USB client redirector may not work for a hard bricked phone.
