Hi guys
Please help. i did a SBF flash, with RSDlite
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991072
I did it before, so i didnt have problems.
I did it again tonight, as i want to sell my device.
When it boots, the red LED flikkers, and the device turns off.....
I tried the process again, same thing?
Please help, my device does not want to boot.
Thanks!
Did you see any message in the process? what's the origin of this phone (ATT, Bell, etc)? what's the OS version?
if you upgraded to 2.3.4 via OTA and then flash this, your phone is hard bricked. See the stickies in the development section.

You cannot get all the info you need in one post, search through the thread and look to see if anyone else is having your issue.
Here is another thread that offer up some links that might help too.

You will have to read a little bit. It would take a very long time for someone to compile a tutorial that would include all the variables that might be relative to this phone.

I can confirm that flashing the latest sbf from pudding will work on 2.3.4 OTA, using RSD lite. After flashing the sbf, you will get a 0x1000 cannot boot message, but don't worry, its not a real hard brick. When that message pops up, IMMEDIATELY go into fastboot and type "fastboot oem unlock" and you will not be bricked, and you will be unlocked. I performed this on my 2.3.4 OTA atrix yesterday, without any problems.
where u get latest Sbf file ? when i click start for flashing it gave error that flashing process failed
and also have u tired any custom rom ? and how was the experience
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182526
use that sbf file. it works on 2.3.4 OTA.
read through the thread - it will explain well what to expect, explain the soft brick issue and how to remedy it, and also what you need to have in advance for it to all work smoothly.
MY RSD give error. when i entered in RSd support rsdlite show it connected when i start sbf flashing it give error that flashing process failed.0x7027 phone cant retrieve any help with that ?.
try using this version of RSDLite. It worked for me with this one.
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/archive/t-1229831.html
im previously on 5.3.1 is safe to use a downgraded version
yeah.
its just a different version of the pc software. downgrading is only a problem if you're downgrading phone software but this is ok.
not working
Same error? Did you check that the drivers installed correctly? Try a reboot on pc and use a different usb port
I bricked one Atrix already a few weeks ago, and have since gotten another...(don't wanna think about it)..
I had toyed with unlocking it, and 'rooted' using the gingerbreak method. I was then, bored, one day and installed CWM paid version(Since I had it on my Nexus One, and it popped up under 'my apps'). Out of curiosity I installed the bootloader via CWM, thinking it would fail before it broke anything..wrong.. It froze after a reboot, but after taking the battery out and back in came back up. Didn't think any more about it, and figured i'd finish the unlocking/flashing part some other time..
Meanwhile the annoying pending system update kept going off, and I inadvertently clicked download... it downloaded, so I figured might as well install and not worry about roms since with root I was able to use the google adhoc wifi apk, which is what I care about most. The install was stuck in an infinite loop. It would 'fail to load RSD', if you took the battery out it boot to android then reboot automatically for system update over and over. I tried using the RSD lite program at this point to flash back to stock rom, and ended up hard bricked...
So, forgive me for being a complete noob as I never had an issue with my nexus one. I am at 4.1.83, android 2.2.2. and baseband 1.7.15.. Which of the many tutorials and post should I follow? How safe are they? Did I brick because I had a partial 2.3.x install, and flashed back to a pre 2.3 base? I've read many post, but definitely a bit gun shy of bricking another Atrix. The phone keeps bugging me to update, and I keep hitting 'cancel'.
I'd like to unlock the boot loader for custom roms.
I'm also a heavy linux user, majority of tutorials seem to only imply windows with RSD lite? can this not be done with adb, and fastboot via linux?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154600
I would personally go HERE Read through the entire post, then read it again. And go with the ATT 2.3.4 pudding+root
That of course is after reading and re-reading THIS post! (also linked in the post above mine.
Just my opinion.. and make sure you read and nkow what to expect!

That references 4.5.91 and unless I missed it, doesn't explicitly state it's backwards compatible with 4.1.83 and 2.2.2. is it?
Should I update first, to be at those levels and just know not to flash to an earlier build(pre 2.3.4/4.5.91)?

Nope, don't update. It's safer to unlock BL while you are still at 4.1.83, you just need to download the correct unlock file from the pudding thread.
Otherwise the unlocking steps are exactly the same.
The easiest steps to unlocking are here:
http://briefmobile.com/how-to-unlock-the-atrix-4g-bootloader
From there you can flash CWM in one minute.
From there you can flash any rom via CWM in two minutes.
Good luck and don't do anything stupid.
Wow I’m really drained I’ve spent a lot of hours trying to update to gingerbread (OTA) but just can’t get anything to work.
My phone Atrix 4G currently running build OLYFR_U4_1.8.3, the phone is rooted and has the webtop hack.
What I have tried so far
I have tried to flash the spf file using RSD lite with the new gingerbread update. No luck about 10 min in the program stops and says flash failed . I tried using RSD lite to flash back to an earlier version again same problem flash fails .
I have tried the over the air update and it failed; I got the yellow triangle, when I got the yellow triangle I swiped the bottom of the screen and it said DockService.apk failed, so I searched and found numerous people saying I had to revert back to the orginal files if I did the webtop hack. I reverted back to the orginal files using super manager but now my DockService.apk, PhonePortal.apk, and DockProvider.apk all say (no install); it looks like this:
DockService.apk(no install)
I tried installing the apk files using super manager and it attempts to but fails .
I’m really at a loss here I have no idea what to try anymore this is just really kicking my butt, could someone please help me or point me in the right directions. Thank you in advance.
are you trying to unlock your bootloader? or just upgrade?
Have you tried flashing the pudding SBF?
I had a problem with the update and originally flashed the Fruit Cake img files using fastboot. Maybe that will work. Look for the Fruit Cake Thread in the Dev section, or try the pudding SBF..

I just want to upgrade.
your best bet would be flashing back to 1.8.3 stock and then trying to upgrade

I saw the fruit cake thing last night, but I’m confused how to use it.
I know I see an option for fastboot when I turn the phone on holding the power and down volume button but that’s where my knowledge ends, can you tell me or point to a thread on how to Fastboot?
I haven’t heard of the pudding SBF I will look more into that now, thanks.

I have the spf file for 1.8.3 but when i try using RSDlite to flash back it fails??
Is there another way to flash back??
fastboot works in conjunction with the command prompt on your pc. It's much better than rsd
Anyone got any ideas on why in super manager my dockservice, portal, and dockprovider all say no install in the GUI??
Is this going to affect me in anyway?

Not true, he can flash pudding and not unlock. I hadn't unlocked for a month or so after I had pudding. It runs fine without running command line oem unlock. ^_^
I had the same problem.
I update my phone successfully only thru my PC.
Download and install automated update tool from motorola support site which will guide you through the update process. This tool will upgrade your device to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) from any previously released version.

I'm going to guess this has to do with my files that say (no install)
namely the phone portal one, I believe that controls data

One last link i found, this appears to be the easiest to follow guide I have seen. He even tells you how to install and run the CWM Recovery(tenfar's) which is epic in it's own right.

my atrix is on stock 2.3.4

career unlocked by unlock code
plz someone help me :S
If you use a fruitcake, you'll be fine. If you wipe all data/system/etc and use the sbf, you will also be fine. The worst I've heard of is a soft brick that takes a hell of a lot of time and effort to fix. So, I'd go with fruitcake if I were you. I did it yesterday, and it worked like a charm.

c'mon guys i need help
A few pages later on the new link is posted. I forget exactly where. It's a mediafire link if I remember correctly. And I wouldn't risk a hard brick if I were you. I flashed a SBF to return my broken phone back to Motorola and attempt warranty, but the phone was useless either way. It worked, but I had to wipe nearly every partition. Please don't risk. Fruitcake is proven

I thought there was a way to officially update the atrix to 2.3.6 since that is the official version O/S it supports?
Just picked one up yesterday and it has 2.3.4

Yeah I just went into "about phone" and hit update... what's wrong with that?
Can't you still root 2.3.6?
If your phone is working fine now do yourself a favor and leave it alone. OTA update has caused many problems like killing wifi and many people have had problems playing with roms and you can't go back. This is good advice.

I was subscribed to this and just want to add my data point:
on unlocked (bootloader) phone ("Unlocked" printed on boot screen), upgraded to 2.3.6 over the air. This caused Unlocked to disappear from boot screen but I believe I was still technically unlocked. I went through the unlock process again just to be safe. which put "unlocked" back on boot screen, then unrooted by normal flash recovery method, and running fine an dandy all along
I did have a problem with a bad sim card previously, which made it seem like 2.3.6 was a problem, but it is not, for me at least.
I have a Galaxy Note i717 from AT&T that I rooted. Worked great.
Yesterday I upgraded to ICS via Kies. Worked great.
Then I proceeded to root it again using odin.
Unfortunately even after all the things done it now will not boot up at all.
All I get is the S a m s u n g logo. I can put it into boot mode and the computer see's it but nothing more.
If anyone can point me to any rom/bootloader/ etc. I would be most grateful.
Or just let me know what to do and where to get roms. I did search and there are many for the i700.
I guess I need a bootloader and rom right?
Sorry folks. Point me somewhere else will have to get another phone.
T h a n k s ...
Others would tell you to look in the dev section for the stock rom (its usually called something like "in case of brick) I've had issues issues getting it to work but Im certain it was user error as to why it didn't work for me. But another option that I think could work would be to get your phone into download mode and run the ics upgrade thru kies again. You'll lose everything in your phone but I think it'll get your phone up and running again. But before you do any other that...did you make a nandroid back of? Or have you downloaded any roms to your phone because if you did you can just enter cwm and reflash any rom you may have or just flash your backup, backups are so important when doing these sort of things, saves a lot of head aches.
Edit: after reading your post again it says your phone messed up after rooting, try and re run the root file thru Odin, I kinda sorta remember reading something similar to this were people had issue trying to root. I'll try and find the thread.

this happened due to rooting with the Gingerbread method...so using Nash reply run/reinstall your Official ICS...and to root....
see My Links in red in my signature...go the GNote Super page....you should see what is being used to root the Official ICS...I used it and lots others, there prob more methods out there, but I found this is the easiest and more proven method....
Cant miss the info on GNote page regarding Rooting.
so to recap...since your believe you have bricked your phone...
use the method Nash replied to you with...put into download mode....run the official ics, you will need the model, serial number of your phone...
let us know how it works out for you...

And once you're rooted and all fixed up, enter cwm and create a backup. These are great because no matter what you do to your phone as long as you can enter cwm you'll always be able to fix your phone via backup.

I wanted to mention, I'm not sure how you updated thru kies originally (legit update or emergency update) the method you'll be using this time (if you choose to fix thru kies) is the more or less emergency method. I wanted to mention this because when your in download mode and connect your phone to your PC and run kies, kies will try to connect to your device but will time out over time...it took me 2 days of Q and A before I realized kies won't connect with phone in download mode, but that's OK. Once phone is connected click tools/firmware upgrade and initialization, and as bigjoe said youll than need to input model and serial numbers (all caps) than click OK. You'll have a few prompts afterwards but yo basically on your way to a running phone.

Brick = nothing at all happening on phone.
Samsung logo = bad flash (corrupt file used)
Brick can sometimes be revived with a JTAG device.
Samsung logo means re download file, re read instructions and relevent thread, and redo your work.
Don't be too anxious -you will fix it.
I suggest using Kies upgrade > emerency firmware method. Download mode is the key.

Thanks all for the replies.
I was able to go to DEV Section and get the full AT&T ICS Rom. Used ODIN to get it back to factory ICS.
Then (with great care ) re-rooted it using ICS root stuff. I have it all in case anyone else needs this route. Else follow instructions above.
Thanks all. I think for now ICS is where this will stay. In fact Gingerbread was good enough except for not being able to use Chrome.
