OK, im gonna explain this simple.
Im using Lg p350 and i have a problem restoring my backuped rom. When i select restore in custom recovery it immediately says: opps something went wrong. Its hard for me to find a sollution because the error log is stupid and not giving any info.
Thank you.
May I ask what the custom recovery and version is? CWM, TWRP, amonRA, etc?
Have you upgraded to a new version of your recovery since you made the backup?
If you've changed recovery, then I would suggest flashing back on the version you made the backup with and try restoring your backup from there.
If you renamed the backup folder, and it now contains spaces or any characters other than underscores or dashes, remove all of those characters and try again.
1. its: recovery-RA-pecan-2.2.1-GNM-drap
2. no, because, there are no updates
3. didnt rename, but what exactly do you mean by changing recovery?

Hello,
Sorry for being vague. All meant by changing the recovery was, flashing a different version of the Recovery, or switching to something like Clockworkmod Recovery. If, for instance, you made the backup with version 2.0.1 (example version number), and are trying to restore with 2.2.1, something may have changed in the way the new version handles backups.
Sometimes SD cards can cause strange issues to occur, if you have another, copy backup folder from the SD card in your phone to another, place that other card into your phone and try restoring from that card instead.
Good luck.

So I tried to restore my phone multiple times from two different recoveries and every time it stops during it and the screen goes black and the only way to turn my phone on is to pull the battery. Everything but the .android-secure restores and I now have about 200 hundred apps that aren't installed on my phone and I don't want to have to go through all that again, the apps still show as installed on my phone, but the the data on my SD card is missing, does anyone know how I can get this back?
Did you actually wipe your.android_secure folder?
Sent.
No, I never wiped it. After I restored my phone it was empty
Did you ever try to move 200?? apps to sd?
Sent.
Yes all the apps were on my SD card already. But they were moved over one by one so it wasn't a major hassle. I tried doing it through TWRP now and it won't restore at all anything that is.

Also, did you ever flash some kind of superwipe .zip file or anything? Do you have titanium backups? Do you have a TWRP Nandroid?

Is your Sdcard partitioned, and, if so, are you running a ROM that supports A2SD?
Sent.
No I never did a superwipe or anything of the sort, I didn't have any Titanium Backups either, never planned on flashing a new ROM, still haven't. The backup was through CWM the newest update 4.0.1.5 I tried restoring through that and the Revolutionary 4.0.1.4, neither worked. I moved all the recovery files over to TWRPs backup location and they none of the partitions would restore. My SD is not partitioned and I'm on a rooted stock ROM. I'm only talking about regular App2SD apps that are supported by Android, like Angry Birds and Google Earth.

Those go straight to your secure folder. I don't ever use CWM, as a rule, but it seems that somehow your CWM Nandroid didn't include that folder...I don't know how it got wiped, but my guess is that whatever rom you flashed included a Superwipe script, which would've wiped that folder. (another thing I don't use-Superwipe) If you go in with root explorer or whatever file manager, you can manually verify that a) your secure folder is empty (which it sounds like you've done), and also check under your /clockworkmod recovery folders to see if you actually have a backup for the secure folder.
If it's not there, then, unfortunately it's lost.. You can get the apps back from the market, though.. PM me if you have any 'hard to come by' apps you might need that don't show up on the market.
Good luck.

Then the same version of cwm should restore it. Get in touch with Koush from teamdouche/cyanogenmod, the creator of CWM if you're having issues.

OK so what recovery did you make the backup? I don't think TWRP backup work in CWM. Also, you don't even NEED to restore the .img you're talking about. You can restore boot, system, data, and it should boot. If you need your apps back, download them. Then back them up with titanium backup. Koushik can be found in #cyanogenmod-dev on freenode, but I don't think you need to bug him. It sounds like your phone boots right? If you need more help come into our d3rp thread, linked in my sig.
Thanks, yeah I decided to just reset my phone anyway, to fix the black screen of death and everything. Just sucks I can't remember what all my apps were and I'm like a hundred short now
Hello, I always find the people on this corner of xda very helpful. As usual, I think I know what I'm doing, but I'd like to check that I am proceeding in the right direction.
I've been using Mik's Cyanogen ROMs on my Optimus One. That's going well. But I need to SIM unlock my phone and I need to go back to a stock ROM to input the codes (please let me know if this is incorrect).
Before installing Mik's ROM, I performed a Nand backup. I have boot, cache, data, recovery and system img files. I think I can flash these through recovery and I should be back to stock.
Do I lose my apps and settings by doing this? Do I need to clear any caches?
What about returning to Cyanogen after I unlock my phone... Do I have to root my phone again or will I still be able to flash using recovery?
Using Clockwork, I just backed up my current ROM. I assume I will be able to restore from this later.
Is there anything else I should be aware of?
Thanks for answering my questions / clearing up my confusion.

this is correct

to revert back to stock, you must wipe data/factory reset, cache, and dalvik cache. you will lose your settings. as for your apps, you can back them up with titanium backup and restore them after you have restored your backup.
What about returning to Cyanogen after I unlock my phone... Do I have to root my phone again or will I still be able to flash using recovery?
when you restore your backup of the stock rom, you will still have root. i dont think unlocking your phone will cause you to lose root. your root access and custom recovery will still be intact
Using Clockwork, I just backed up my current ROM. I assume I will be able to restore from this later.
yes this is true

just to be on the safe side, please list the steps you are going to follow

Thanks for the quick answer...
I on my sd card, I have a /clockwork directory with two subdirs. One is my original backup that I made before first installing Cyanogen. The other is the one I just made. Both contain boot, cache, data, recovery and system img files. The difference is that with my new backup the image files have an extra yaffs2 suffix: cache.img (stock) but cache.yaffs2.img (Cyanogen). Any problem here?
1. boot into recovery
2. restore stock from my sdcard using nandroid and wipe caches as you indicated
3. reboot, enter unlock code
4. reboot into recovery
5. restore current ROM from my sdcard using nandroid and again wipe the same caches
6. reinstall / restore apps (I'm not using Titanium, instead I backed up the list of installed apps)
Will I need to find and reinstall the GoogleApps (Market, etc) or will they come with the backup of my current ROM?
Pretty simple really. This make sense?

there might be a problem. what clockworkmod version did you use to make the backup of the stock rom? if i remember correctly, using cwm 3.x.x.x backs up a certain way (and also does not have the yaffs2 suffix) and using cwm 5.x.x.x backs up a different way (with the yaffs2 suffix) so backups may not be "inter"compatible (more info on that here). however, you can just flash back cwm 3.x.x.x right now (you can do it using rom manager), restore your stock rom backup, do the following steps, flash back cwm 5.x.x.x, then restore your backup
1. boot into recovery
2. restore stock from my sdcard using nandroid and wipe caches as you indicated (i recommend wipe first then restore)
3. reboot, enter unlock code
4. reboot into recovery
5. restore current ROM from my sdcard using nandroid and again wipe the same caches

i think you will have to flash gapps again

I followed your instructions (I downgraded Clockwork before starting) and the 10-20% chance of you being wrong came true... but in a good way
Restoring from the backup brings everything back: apps, settings, contacts, SMSs etc. So it was actually even easier than you suggested since I didn't have to use my backups at all.
Thanks again for the tips!

Yes... when I was back in stock I could access the unlock menu by entering 2945*#500# on my keypad. The SIM unlock code that I have worked fine. I haven't actually tested with another SIM card but the phone claimed to have been unlocked, so I should be good to go.
Hey everyone!
Just got my phone back from repairs since I received the white light of death. I noticed a lot of people here looking for a Rogers Nandroid so I decided to upload mine.
Features:
Stock Rogers Rom Version: 2.3.5
Rooted using SuperOneClick (Zergrush)
CWM on Boot
Updated SU Binaries
*EDIT
New Instructions for Restoring
After you download and extract the folder, change the folder name from Rogers Stock to any other name without a space! - This will ensure you donot get the MD5 Mismatch error when restoring the backup!
[*]The renamed folder needs to placed in "/sdcard-ext/clockworkmod/backup/<here> ". sdcard-ext is referring to your external sd card. If you don't have one then your clockwork recovery folder should be in your internal sd card so it should be placed there instead.
After restoring, Please do a data+cache+dalvik wipe or a factory wipe from settings in order to wipe any of the settings left from my backup.

Tips:
If your phone is stuck in AP/Fastboot mode and you want to restore to Rogers ROM
Download RSDLite and either the Retail.BR/Vivo LATAM fastboot files from the development section.
Restore your phone to working state by using RSDLite.
Root and install CWM on boot.
Finally, boot into CWM and restore Nandroid in order to return to Rogers Stock.
If you have ever used a RetailBR/Vivo fastboot on your RAZR, you will be able to restore this backup but you won't be able to receive the 2.3.6 Rogers OTA. In that situation, you're better off using the 2.3.6 RetailBR fastboot from the developers section and restore that using RSDLite. Do not restore this backup over the 2.3.6 fastboot as this backup is 2.3.5!

Yes. It should work fine for any Rogers Razr. You should be able to boot into CWM and restore. Make sure you don't have any SU backups using Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper as I believe it does break the Nandroid Restore.
Will this fix my contacts force close problem from removing yahoo? It would be great if it does!
Thanks heaps!
Did you just freeze or did you uninstall a system app? If its just a freeze, then you'll have to unfreeze the app in order to fix the force close. If its an uninstall then yes this should restore all the apk's back to your phone as they come out of the box.
THANK YOU DUDE!
its not a fastboot, but it should works the same, right? i have safestrap installed might try this out...

Np, and yes it should work. In the odd case it goes wrong, you'll have to use the RetailBr/Vivo fastboot and restore using RSDLite since those are the only two that can be flashed onto the Rogers xt910.
Quick question....
Whst do you use to flash this? Bootstrap? Which version?
Coz i just realzed gsm phones doesn't work with safestrap...
Yep bootstrap is the way to go. You should install bootstrap and then cwm on boot. Make sure you copy my backup to the clockwork recovery folder on your external sdcard, go to backup/restore and then select it and let it restore. If you want your user data to stay, i believe you can go into advanced and do a /system restore only.
Also make a backup of your current one before you try this incase you encounter any errors and cant restore my nandroid.

You can use internal sdcard as well however its not really suggested. I believe under mounts and storage you can go and mount the other card.
Thanks for the Rogers' backup, dude! I wish they would release ICS or 2.3.6 at least

tried doin this but gives me MD5 mismatch
Sorry I forgot to check up on the thread. You can bypass the MD5 mismatch by renaming the folder and removing the space in the folder name and it should flash perfectly.
Thank you for putting this up I just have a question if there is anyway that I can use this to restore a bricked phone. I can't go beyond AP fastboot
No you cannot use this as a fastboot however you can use the Retail.BR fastboot flash that to get phone working. Then root/install CWM and restore this nandroid in order to get back to stock Rogers state.
hey Evon, another quick question:
dont u need to unroot to get official Rogers OTA with your Nandroid?
I'm not sure about OTA's. I believe you can still be rooted and receive OTA's however you must be on the stock Rogers Rom in order to receive the Rogers OTA. I could be wrong since there has not been any OTA so far from Rogers so we'll have to wait and see.
I recently decided to try MROM (I currently have CM7) so I backed up my current ROM and installed MROM. When I tried to check if I could restore my previous ROM, ROM Manager did not list my latest backups, but instead, listed some really old backups. I checked the clockworkmod folder to see if the latest backups were there and they were. Now, for some reason, ROM Manager was looking in the emmc folder, and not the sdcard (where the latest backups were) and I don't know if there's a way to change where it looks for the backups. I changed the settings to use an external sdcard (I don't know if that would help but I tried) and it didn't help. I then booted into recovery and tried the restore option there and I was able to see my latest backups.
I'm not sure why ROM Manager was unable to see them but booting in recovery worked fine. I want to try MROM (and I know I can restore from the recovery console if I really have to) but I just want to understand why this was happening and if there was another way to restore my backups (ROM Manager saves backups in ext3.tar format and I don't know how to use that with adb).
Don't bother with rom manager. I always get rid of it on every cm rom I try. Its pointless. Your recovery works and its a better option IMO.
Thanks! I would still like to know what's going wrong though, if possible, and also if there's a way to restore a backup saved in ext3.tar format using adb.

Hard to tell. You may never find out. ROM Manager can indeed be weird like that, and is in my opinion unreliable.

The backup is a regular TAR archive (as the name suggests). Most recoveries contain the tar tool which you can use to restore the backup.
Hey guys,
I have a little problem I can't find a solution to by searching.
I have a GS3 i9300 rooted with CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.
When rooting, a version of CWM was installed (5.something).
Later, when installing af custom rom, I followed instructions and updated to a newer CWM (6.0.1.2):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719744
Later, I was thinking about restoring my original system backup, which I had made with the older CWM version right after rooting.
The new CWM can't restore my older backup. It can't recognize the file, not even when I copy it manually to the new CWM folder.
How can I solve this problem?
Do I need to install an older CWM again?
If yes, then one more question: As I said, my original CWM was installed when rooting. Can someone give me a download just for the CWM tar file included in the mentioned CF-Root?
Thanks a lot in advanced,
Agoston
Replace with older CWM root .
From Original Development section .

still not recognizing + weird directory tree
After trying out three custom ROMs and after updating CWM, my system directory is rather weird. Besides the usual system folders, there is a "0" folder, that contains another set of system folders, and another "0" folder, containing the same. Also, my free internal storage as good as disappeared, from 8 GB to 1 GB. So, it looks like I have several systems on each other?!
How can I reduce this weird directory tree to just one? Do I need to wipe the SD-card?!
And by the way, I rooted the device again through Odin, and the old CWM is now installed again. Still though, it can't recognize the old backup.
As you probably imagine, I am hesitating to format SD-card, especially if CWM can't restore my factory ROM.
Can anyone help?
Thanks!

I copied the backup directory manually to the "most superficial" CWM folder, and now trying system restore. I'ts not easy with four (!) different CWM directories.
Unfortunately I got an "error restoring data" message, and the phone is stuck in Samsung logo when booting.
Also, when trying to do a factory reset, I get the message: "error mounting /sd-card/.android_secure!"
Could this be because there is not enough space or something?!
If someone could help me with how to proceed, I would appreciate it!
Thanks.
Okay, the issue is solved. I admit, I might have been a little inpatient. Despite the "error restoring data" message, the stock factory system booted after a few tries - I might not have waited long enough. It seems that these "Folder 0"s were all just security copies of the old systems, and of course consumed a lot of hard disc space, so I just deleted them. Haven't met any negative consequences so far. I just got scared because of the error message and the too long boot time. Also this phenomenon with "Folder 0"s is not something I met before on other devices.
