Github is kinda easy to work with.....
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
nope, github is like heaven to coders and modders. its pretty easy to understand. just view the commit and see the difference, then apply the difference to ur local source. or just download the commit as *.patch file and patch ur local source using it. but if u urself had github account, just pull the commit and merge with ur source.
btw op heres a good reading

but basicly and most important thing is u need to know howto use linux.

So, here the first JellyBean ROM compiled from source for our Play. I have used CM9 device and vendor trees.
Of course, it doesn't boot.
I have added libgenlock because it was missing and not I haven't compiled sensors and gps. They caused errors in compiling.
Kernel is inside the zip. It's FXP with a modified Ramdisk. In particular I have changed only BOOTCLASSPATH. Here more detailed changes between ICS and JB ramdisk: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739561
ROM:
JB 0.0.1

Says that in OP. I don't believe that any Xperia device has working Jellybean builds.

Yo supervenom great work but the thread should not be "rom" should be "WIP" as it doesn't even boot. Other than that can't wait for stable build but can't help as I don't have android knowledge or proper resources

I think you need to put DOESN'T BOOT in huge bold lettering before more people get confused and complain it doesn't boot. good luck guys!
I don't understand why no one reads the threads before they flash stuff to their phone?
Hey my phone won't boot. Lol had to be the first

Hi, this is a developers thread, please don't spam it. It says in OP that it doesn't boot.
I thought you got it to boot in the other thread in the general section. Perhaps you can clear up my confusion?
Sent from my R800x using Tapatalk 2
yes it boots but is is not usable.
i can release it but i am sure only a few devs knows how to use it
excuse me if this is the wrong thread to post this but i dont want to open a new thread just for one short question:
i heard that JB needs less ram as ICS did. is that true? that would most likely mean that JB would run better as ICS does, right?
ICS runs good on my play but im always short on ram.

It will run better on our Play.
But to get there, we need functionality before performance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1790185 there is a boot img for JB can you or someone els try it?
I'm aware that there are custom kernels for 5.0 by rumirand and entropy,
but rumirand's kernel is not really 100% compatible with YP-GB70 (KOR) and this is the device that i currently have.
Unfortunately, even in Korea GP forum, there is absolutely no custom kernel for 5.0 (Tegrak Kernel exists for 4.0)
So i wanted to develop it on my own so i've been searching for instructions.
I've instaled ubuntu, installed bunch of stuffs.
but i have no idea how to start. all those guides were incoherent.
can somebody tell me some basic infos and things that i should know for developing YP-GB70 kernel?
I would advice starting with reading about linux kernel structure, how it works etc.
I would like to develop new kernel for 5.0 too
Send from samsung galaxy s wifi 5.0 running paranoidandroid.
search, search, search!
That's what I had to do. I now have a modified, compiled and running kernel with no prior experience. Follow that guide, look at the android site for setting up an environment, etc.
Then you need your source files + initramfs. I don't think samsung has released their initramfs source so you're going to need to find it elsewhere. Samsung stuff is also different than the nexus things that the android site refers to so you need to take bits and pieces of information from places and piece it together yourself. I recommend looking at other kernel builder's githubs too, I've modified others sources and have wound up with good results.

yeah that's what i was doing. i managed to extract initramfs from the zimage but dont know what to do anymore :silly:
Do you have any idea if the initramfs is the same between your version and the rest of the world? You might be able to use an already extracted version.

yes? i searched github but there weren't any for GB70 (there was g70)
So i just did it by myself, which took me around an hour. Everything was new to me so uploading GB70 initramfs to github took me like 30 mins.:silly:
my next step is to add cwm recovery to the kernel and it;s quite hard. most of the guides written in this forum are usually written for specific devices.
Before you start modifying the kernel, and i suggest you try compiling it to make sure your sources are good.

It can't be wrong. I got the zImage from Korean stock rom tar. But you are right. I gotta try decompiling and compiling to make sure

Just a note..you can't decompile a kernel binary. The farthest you can go is extracting the initramfs from it. To get a kernel you would have to build it from source.

oops seems like i made a noobish term mistake there
i wanted to write unpack but thought that decompile can be used also. Thanks!
I've been trying to gain some knowledge about building android from source but i'm not sure where can I get the jb sources for my device xperia mini st15i and I'm confused about what are the commands i should use to compile a jb rom specifically for my device. I also would like to know where can I get the driver binaries for my device . I've been googling it for more than two weeks with no luck .
Forgive me if the things I asked above sounds ridiculous because as of now I myself am very much confused about building from source .
I hope you people can help me clear my confusion! Thanks!
edit:
My humble request to devs and users is that can anyone with the proper knowledge post a tut on how to compile aosp Rom from source for xperia devices particularly st15i so that we can Learn it. What are the files and how to edit it in source code to build a bootable working Rom for xperia mini st15i and also the driver binaries needed for device to work properly or with minimal bugs . Not aokp or cm just pure aosp. I'll be really thankful if you take it into consideration. Right now there is not even a single tut for xperia devices to compile from aosp sources (according to my knowledge)(if it exists please post the link!) .Thanks for spending your time in reading my request.

Thanks for the support man, I was searching for tut for building from aosp sources and was really disappointed not to find not even a single tut even remotely explaining about building Rom for xperia devices from aosp sources. Given that xperia devices are in mainstream development it's disappointing not to find any tut on this regard.

what do you use as i have been around the android development section and they suggest and old kitchen and i was wondering what you use and how you use it with github
they use
dxixda's rom kitchen.. very easy to use.
it doesnt requires github association..
when u compile from source u need to have a github account and a super fast internet... a super computer (lol not really bt fast atleast) ubuntu (for kernel compilation) .. if u want to compile on windows.. u need cygwin..

thanks so much
I checked out the driver download link on the mali website... my question is how do i update libraries in the installed rom that i have ... btw i have cyanogenmod 11 on my xperia go
You must apply them to the kernel source and then compile it...if you don't know how to do it, you shouldn't probably be doing that. Btw, this should be in Q/A.
