Is it possible to disable it?
I saw a modified mms.apk in the galaxy ace apps and themes section here but the download link it dead.
and I know that we can bypass it by using some 3rd party apps which can be downloaded from market but I hate them.
can anyone please tell me how to disable it in the stock messaging app ?
Thank you.

You can turn off the notifications for the stock SMS. But its not recommended that you uninstall it if that's what you mean.
Lol, I didn't mean it..
I mean i wanna disable the restrictions that the stock messaging app has..like it doesn't allows us to add more than 10 recipients and it auto converts longs sms's into mms..
Is there a way to disable it ?
I hate these restrictions..
There's one at themes and app section thread. But the download link seems broken..
I was sent a report to that dev a long time ago but not replied yet.

I want to know can the messaging app (mms.apk) of MIUI be used in this ROM..because i tried MIUI GB RC2 messaging app in this ROM but it always force closes..all other apps of that ROM are working fine in this ROM too...
So i wanna know if there is a way by which it can be done...or maybe suggest other mms.apk of other ROMs which can do the following things:
1) Display that checklist of contacts for multiple sending
2) Allow to send as many contacts in one go (nice feature of MIUI)
I luv this ROM..its jst that i wanna get this sms thing to be fast and efficient

Is there a way to send sms to more than 20 contacts without using another sms application?

I believe that you can use handcent sms app for this purpose......
cheers....
I know for the SGS2, but maybe same or similar process
[MOD][GUIDE] Mms.apk with Sent time/"Unlimited" Contacts adding//No MMS Convert
Other than doing it yourself, just about most custom ROMs here have the mod cooked into them
thank you for your reply.
But as i asked, is there a way to do it without using another app?

Do it yourself, as per the guide link I posted. You'll need to root & deodex your ROM first. That way your not "using another app", only your own.
Edit: Just nandroid backup before you try anything though..........
Edit2: Not sure if it'll work, that's why backup first
OR
Flash a custom ROM.
Which is the easy way,....................uummmmm........ in your case handcent
Hello,
I was wondering if I could replace Samsung's messaging app with Google's SMS/MMS app or just install Google's. I really prefere Google's one but for some reason I want to keep a Samsung-based ROM (not for Touchwiz launcher, but some apps like the Camera with no shutter lag, S-Memo which I use with my C-Pen,...)
Yes you can, but you need first remove the stock messaging app

How can I replace it with Google's SMS/MMS app ? Where can I download it and will it work with my Touchwiz-based ROM ?
You can pull the apk out of CM10 build.. Push it in system/app after renaming.. But keep in mind your smses will not be threaded..

Try this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/....com.android.mms&feature=search_result#?t=W10.
I was going to use it myself but decided to stick with handcent which i've been using since GBread.
I expect you can do with this app what i done with handcent, - go into stock app - setting disable notifications, go to app manager the disable the stock message app - setup notifications on new message app and you should be good to go.
The dev also got the google calender etc too.
Hope this helps and works - let us know :good:

I extracted my MMS apk from my cm10 ROM, download it: http://db.tt/kCXioNLo
then use root explorer to copy it to system/app folder.
Then you set the right permissions (all of the first row checked and first of second row only, if in doubt check on the other apps permissions and set the same)
And the look for Semms.apk (or something like this), backup and delete it

I made a flashable cwm package for you .
It does every thing itself.
enjoy,
Thanks all ! But i've no thread in sms/mms, you have an idea ?
You will not get threaded messages in aosp messaging app.. Use the app someone posted from the market.. It is modded to be used in Stock roms
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Is there really no way to have threads with the original file ? I remember when I got the Galaxy Nexus for a week, I had threads on my SMS/MMS app. With the app on Android Market I'm having issues with LightFlow and the unread count from Apex Launcher doesn't work

I'm currently on the Sprint S3, and I flashed your package. All went well, but when I tried to send a picture message, it force closed the app. When I tried to re-open the thread, it just force closes.
Btw, is there any way to get the little message icon in the lockscreen for this replacement? I miss being able to slide outward on that message icon to be presented with the latest thread.
I would like to integrate the stock messaging app and remove the present "Messenger" app for mms and sms into my CM9 Stable Rom such that a hard reset won't wipe it, is it possible or am I stuck with Messenger?
And could it cause possible glitches with such a modification?
I really want to use the anti - theft features of avast, which doesn't support messenger.
Answer : Stock Messenger can't be integrated.
Edit : Also what avast is saying is that "messenger is having a high sms receiving priority which conflicts with Avast"
So does anybody know how to reduce the priority to stock default?
Using GT - I9100
I thank those who give helpful comments

No, it will not wrk(Stock MMS .apk) unless moded, since it requires a samsung Framewrk which is quite diff from the CM9 one
Yes as Sun90 said it ain't working.
But Thanx anyway I better focus on trying to reduce the priority to receive sms which would probably solve my problem.

Thought i might share this for those interested, download this https://app.box.com/s/vh0m2xvwcq3ljt1qqtem
use root explorer rename LGmessage.apk and LGmessage.odex both to .bak
Rename mms.apk to LGMessage ( not sure if renaming matters)
reboot and the message app works perfect! quick reply, etc.
DARK THEME for quick reply will not work.
Has this file been modified to work with MMS/Group messaging?

I mean, does it work?
CM's MMS.apk needs to be modified to work with each device's Telephony code, so unless it is pulled from another device that pretty exactly mirrors the LG G2 code, it won't work.
i dont know i never ever use it lol
and i did not know that.
try and find out ?
just download 8sms from google play, its basically the cyanogenmod mms.apk with quickreply and all the good stuff. Textra sms it's really good too, I like textra sms more though.

Holy moley. Never knew about 8SMS. All I ever ask for in any SMS program is a Mark As Read from the notification drop down. This is perfect.
This works on the vzw version, although the names are a bit different... LGUSMms.bak and .odex This is great, I hated how little of the conversation you could see with the stock app.

CM mms.apk causing phone to crash
I just installed the mms.apk onto my rooted Nexus 4 and followed installation instructions perfectly, but now the app crashes every time I receive a text. Can someone offer a suggestion how to fix this issue or how to revert back to stock messenger, which doesn't appear to be on the phone anymore (the CM apk replaced it)? I know this isn't the correct forum but I am just hoping someone can help with this. Thanks for the help.
did anyone confirm if this works on ATT lg g2
