[View] as a phone. - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I just installed Tapatalk on my View today nd I now have phone capabilities.

Can you explain this process in more detail? How does this app provide that functionality? How do you dial?

I use my view as my business line (I use a headset) you can do it using Google voice and grooveip from the market (paid app) I heard it works well. I use an older free method. Google voice with a free app called csipsimple and a pbxes.org account (I don't think they offer free accounts anymore though)

Didn't give an explanation because there really isn't much. Comes with its own dialer and works with/through your wifi. Just install and use.

Are you using a Bluetooth headset?

GroveIP is pretty much the same, works with Google Voice and requires no setup. Just install, login to your Goggle Voice account and vola , phone...........

Isn't Tapatalk an app for viewing forums? What does it have to do with voice and a dialer?

Can you please answer the question?
How do you get/access the dialer???
I'm confused...

Make and Receive phone calls on your WiFi Flyer.

I found an app that lets you easily make and receive phone calls thru your Google Voice Number. (assuming you have data connection)
GrooVe IP
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gvoip&feature=search_result
I tried it and it works great... even works with the Flyer in speakerphone mode.
Its $3.99 in the Market... and may be worth it for some. Especially if you want to multitask on your Flyer or are oversears.
If you dont have a Google Voice Number, they are free.
Thanks for the tip.
And how does the mic on the flyer works for calls? Do you have speak close to the device?
Do people say they hear echo if you speak with them without a headset?
Thanks. I am using this app for my Galaxy Tab

How so I could use some help setting everything up
Edit Never mind I got it set up but to help out others
1)set up Google voice
2 install app
3 On Gmail you have to install the video chat plugin for your browser. Once you do this go to google voice
4 on GV go to voice settings under the gear icon
5 set up to forward to GTalk
6 Sign on on the phone
7 THERE YOU GO.
I tested on 3g/4g and on Wifi and it works great when you have a strong internet

you have to install the browser plugin first then once its installed hit the call button in GMail and make a test call. Once this is done go to google voice and hit the gear icon and hit the calls tab, then the option for Gtalk should show up
Other SIP CLIENTS :
The only one who have :

Its:"Voip By Antisip"

I think so, Because:
Sip droid: dont have key pad in Flyer
3CX : dont interact with the contacts
LingoPHONE: Its hung-ups ..

Hey guys need some help. I got it installed and setup and can make calls!! THAT'S GREAT! However I'm unable to receive them. They come through on my EVO 3D just fine but nuthin on the tablet?!?! Any suggestions or ideas? I followed the the posted instructions but no luck. Thanks for any help.
Edit: Nevermind...Didn't realize there were 2 places for GTalk. One on the left and one in the middle. I hadn't changed the one in the middle to forward. Thanks for this it's working like a charm. Just wish the incoming call ringer was a little louder!
But its only in US.....not available to other country

edit... this actually works just had to fiddle a bit in google voice and afterwards was not getting incoming calls to work figured maybe i should log out of gv on my computer and bammm evo view started getting the calls so make sure to log out of google voice otherwise thats where the calls will go first before actually going to the tab.......great job guys made my evo tab just friggin more awesome....
now if they would find a way to root flyer, view would be bonus....
I don't know if anyone will use this method but I use QIK to video chat on WiFi and also while tethered to my tmobile cliq2. But it could be because I have tmobile and I remember typeing in my phone number. Just a suggestion.

Negative, you would have to have a GSM modem, and the wifi version doesn't have that. You could use Skype or something like that

Honeycomb doesn't have a dialer apk, so the only way to accomplish this is by using a VoIP, like Google Voice or Skype

As far as I heard Skype won't recognize the mic yet.
I have tested...
I have used it with b&n childrens books.
I have used it also with voice notes in jorte works good.
I have made samples just using the recorder app and works good.
I have made voice notes in Note Everything Pro. and it works good.
I have not done any comparisons to other recording apps.

[Q] missing voicemail app

Phone: HTC EVO3D s-off running ICS/Sense to maintain appearance of being stock. At some point in the past few weeks, my voicemail app decided to vanish, possibly during a hard reset or during a drunken rampage in which I decided that all sprint bloat needed to die. Either way, I can't seem to locate a direct replacement in the play store. All I want is something to inform me of when I have new voicemails, even if it is just the standard voicemail.apk that comes with the phone. Can anyone help with this?
Have you tried Youmail? It's pretty good and it's has its own visual mail app or if you have Google voice use set it as your voice mail

I'm using youmail currently, but I'm not a fan of the stock greetings and haven't found a setting (if one exists) to personalize. I get a lot of client calls and would prefer that they hear my voice instead of a computer. Thanks for the recommendation!
I think there is a flashable zip of the Sprint voicemail app somewhere. I'm on my phone so I can't search easily. You could download a ROM with the app and get it from there.
If you have Sprint, you can get into your voicemail by dialing your own number from your cell phone. Other companies might work the same way.

I have tested this in CM10/CM10.1 and I can make/receive calls through wifi in the native dialer app
1. Download Google Voice on your SGP and set it up.

5. Enter your password under device options. Note your account username (should be YOUR_GMAIL_HERE-200). Click on submit on the bottom, them be sure to click on the red box to apply the changes.
6. In the native dialer app (AKA Phone app), go to settings, then to internet call Accounts (very bottom).
7. Enter your username (YOUR_GMAIL-HERE-200) and password. The server is pbxes.org. Tick set as primary account.

Chile
I'm living in Chile, and it also works here.
To set up a Google Voice Number I had to do some tricks involving a US phone number to verify my account.
I don't know if that's still necessary, though.
The only problem I am facing is, that at pbxes I can't figure out what to put in "dial rules". It's a lot of trial and error, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't..

You have to have cm10 for the native dialer part. Yes sipdroid is safe, run by pbxes. It is saying unauthorized access because they are logging into chat from their server, which is probably far from where you live.
