Got my Transformer Prime today and it's (almost) PERFECT - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

SO after all the people worrying me I got mine today from Game Stop. Opened it up, rooted it, installed root keeper, upgraded to ICS and upgraded the camera. Wifi works fantastic at my work so far, and GPS locked me on me as soon as I upgraded Google Maps. It wasn't 100% perfect but it was accurate upto 20 meters.
I know this isnt a blog site, I just wanted to give some positive feedback after reading all of these nightmares forever.
Also, I am using wifi and my bluetooth mouse with no problems either.
Now we just need some love from ASUS so we can get some custom ROMs/Kernels

Told ya..lol. Glad to hear its working well for ya.

I do NOT want to be the one to rain on anybody's parade and insist that someone shouldn't love the product they just bought. Hell, I love my Prime as well, although I'm still debating whether to return the one I have with broken haptic feedback in hopes of finally getting one where at least every major component just functions at all.
That said, we do need to keep the issues clear that actually do exist. So:
1. If you have GPS completely turned off, Google Maps will still locate you to 20 meters via wifi-based location services. In fact, you might find that your GPS actually is turned off by default (I can't remember whether mine was on or off out of the box and following the ICS update). However, locking to 20 meters accuracy when connected to wifi has pretty much nothing to do with working or non-working GPS.
2. If you have another Bluetooth device to try other than a mouse, it would be interesting to see if you can stream more data (say, a BT headphone and streaming audio) and retain full wifi performance at the same time.

Nice to hear, I hope it stays (almost perfect).
Just to worry you some more:
Make sure you are streaming audio to a bluetooth from a video or something online. YOu want to make sure your BlueTooth is actually streaming something, and not simply turned on.
Check the edges of your screen. Make sure your screen is not lifting away from the back. This may or may not be a problem for your, but for my prime and some others, the glass appears to be raised above the Back Panel and can basically be pushed flush against it.
I love my prime, I love it. Except, I cannot update it cause I have no Serial Number. Even with my screen a little raised, and some light bleed on the right hand side, I would keep it if I could update the firmware. But I cannot, and have to take it back.

Google maps locks on for me at 20 meters accuracy. Although when I try Google Nav. No such luck. Glad yours is near perfect

You all are funny..lol

Everything is nice on my Prime. The one thing I noticed on the native video player when playing mkv files. I would get these lines outside the playing video. But if played from a third party player like mx player I have no problems.

Mine is almost perfect save for a spec of dust under the LCD which causes a small greyish dark shadow on white/bright backgrounds...Problem is best buy where i bought it from is out of stock...and with the unknown serial number problem seemingly becoming more commonplace...i dont want to risk replacing this one that works perfect and has one small imperfection...and getting one thats unrootable and unupgradeable...im thinking i will just keep this one and RMA it later on if need be when the bugs and issues have been worked out down the line after all the tab is covered by a 1 year warranty with Asus.

What Bluetooth device were you streaming to; presumably it was audio? While you were streaming to Bluetooth, did you do any SpeedTest runs? Would be interesting to see if you were able to maintain full Internet connectivity over wifi while streaming to Bluetooth...

my replacement ATP should be in today or tomorrow..i hope so.
They have one from a preorder that never picked up and the manager and I both agreed that it would be better not to open up one from the same "batch" but try fresh with this new batch..regardless if the units being released now are the same as before...(i doubt this from a production/shipping standpoint..otherwise if no new units were created...why the massive shortage upon release?)
the last question was more rhetorical.
Glad to see you have yours....I love mine other than what others are facing...screen separation, no GPS(none), WiFi is intermittently crappy...BT issue is intermittent..and something i haven't seen anyone talk about..i have a dead-zone right where the WLAN module seems to be. I've used both the developer screen visualizer and Multitouch Visualizer and have posted the video's confirming it "Skips" at the exact same spot and ONLY that spot.

Being an original transformer owner....I am in love with this one! IMO It is working great right out of the box smooth as butter.... I really don't know whats up with all these post about ICS being buggy,laggy,crashing.....?? This tablet is going to sell because its nice, fast, the screen is amazing and it's beat every other company off the line with cutting edge software & hardware... I'm not saying its perfect but it sure works for me.

I heared Gamespot have some problems with returning policy so im afraid to order one from them... happy to hear you got a good one tho.
but why did you root it? is that a MUST ?

My first Prime I got from GS non tablet store. I was able to return it within the 30 day policy. I just explained about the GPS and random shutdowns and that was that got my money back and now have my replacement from OD. I'm happy and rooted! Can't wait for the unlock bootloader tool.

GPS After ICS Upgrade Part 2 Co-Pilot navigation.

Friends, a few have asked for a longer more challenging demonstration of the GPS capabilities from my first post on this subject. In this video I have on several occasions purposely turned the opposite direction as the GPS wanted me to. It was my intention to share with the community what “my” results were after ICS upgrade on “my” TF201. It was never my intention to start a war over this information I have posted.
In my case after the ICS update I was able to lock on to satellites (something I was not able to do before the upgrade of ICS) it is by no means a claim that this is the best GPS in the world, by no means it’s not. There are hiccups with the navigation but it does work and I believe it would be able to get you from one place to another. Who know it may even get better down the road with the next update, or it may get worse.
Let’s be clear that this is a Android tablet and not a exclusive GPS unit it is what it is. But, for my purpose it opened a ray of hope that this indeed was/is capable of getting me to one place to another if I do chose to use it as a Navigation device. Also, it made me feel that I was getting what ASUS claimed in the spec sheets as having which is GPS. Before the upgrade GPS for me was dead.
I hope I have helped some people with my findings. Use the information provided as you see fit for you.

Can't tell if it was a GPS issue or an app issue when your screen froze. Other than that, looked like it worked out fairly well.
Did you have WiFi on and were you tethered?
It may of been the app. I had the same thing on my phone happen once or twice before.
Did you have WiFi on and were you tethered?
No, no wifi and no tether just the tablet itself.
good video. seemed like the prime did a good job of navigating. at about 1:50 into your video, it sounded like your car was being bombarded by rocks..lol.
what case is that that you have for the Prime? is that Copilot app free?

Thanks, I went down a street that had potholes being filled with blacktop, that was kicking up in the wheel wells.
The case is a case from Targus, it's for the Transformer not for the TF201. It woks fairly well but is a little large for the TF201. It will do till the case for the TF201 comes out.
The Co- Pilot app is not frre.

GPS fix did not fix anything

I know others are reporting success with the update but mine seems to not work.
Is there any hope or is mine just bad?
It does not lock onto anything and barely sees 1 satellite some of the time.

Same here.
Asus didn't say, "Here's an update to fix all GPS issues."
No need to freak out - everything is a work in progress.
Variables in play
Definitely NOT an even playing field. Even with margin of error, and huge differences in test conditions, I am of the belief that some GPS setups are better (or worse) than others. People reporting poor indoor performance made me envious, as I had NO indoor performance and could barely see satellites outdoors. This update stepped my GPS up substantially, I even got loc indoors (for about 6 seconds, LOL!)
My gut tells me they are NOT going to get it to a workable level, there is just too much to overcome, with the back design, but I do commend Asus for getting in there and giving it the old school try.
Got an external, bluetooth receiver, about 5" x 2" x.5" and it works well. I will probably rely on that, unless Asus pulls off a miracle of engineering.
After all they are "Inspiring Innovation" and "Persistent Perfection" whatEVER that is supposed to mean, LOL!
I have an Asus Motherboard that says the following on the box:
Rock Solid - Heart Touching
uh.. Okeeey then. Thanks for those words of wisdom and inspiration, Asus!
I have never recieved one Satellite hit on my Prime. Everything else appears fine, the WiFi appears fine.
However, I have tried GPSFix, GPSTest and I have never seen one satellite. My last prime I took back for Serial Number Unknown showed me 2 satellites for like 5 seconds and I never saw any on it either.
So I am doing something wrong, or my GPS was Dead on Arrival.
When I first got my Prime, GPS did not work.
The GPS firmware update that came for my Prime when it was still running Honeycomb made a huge difference. I was getting a fix on 10-12 satellites (though it took a couple of minutes).
After the ICS update, my GPS did not work again. The GPS firmware update today was no help ... I'm still getting nothing. I can only guess that there may be different GPS hardware models for the Primes. Hopefully, Asus can find a way to get us the correct firmware update for our particular model. I know that mine is fixable because it was fixed once before.
Frankly, I haven't noticed any improvements after last night's update.
I don't understand why they wont let us Just send it on and they change the backing for us

This is still the only issue with my Prime... even after the 1/18 firmware updates, still no GPS lock... It has never found or locked onto a single satellite.
I wonder if I should have done a hard reset after the latest firmware update. I did reboot all services/ tasks, but it didn't help.
Yeah, same here. Not a single lock before and after.
It's clearly a good sport in prime sections to open constantly new threads about the same subjects...
When you look really, you can close at least half of all threads!
Guys please! Stop opening threads for things already written many times! And especially when xda can't help you. I'd your GPS doesn't work... it doesn't work, see with Asus.
I got my dock last night and BOOM! GPS works like a champ. Take it off the dock and GPS dumps out. This gives me hope. Is it software or hardware?
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
Yeah same here. I do seem to remember GPS working shortly after I got it, but not since I went to ICS. Update didn't do anything. Using GPS status app, i don't even get a fix on a single sat. Wifi is another issue all together >_<
I went outside today after trying the fix. I could see 15 satellites and locked on to 10. I have one of the Australian primes but i don'tknow if that makes a difference.
My GPS works - not!
I guess I'm one of the luckiest Prime owner. After the firmware update I managed to get my GPS show something. It is far from perfect - it lag fetching the satellites reception and when it does it might just disappear at once all of a sudden.
I found that the best is out of town. in-town the disruptions is probably too much for it and the GPS going crazy and not-accurately. Out of town it had smooth reception and the GPS stayed connected for quite a while, like GPS should work.
all in all this tablet doesn't have a decent working GPS. i can't believe it can be fixed. it is the case and there is nothing to do.
first time I buy something of a first generation and it looks like I'm screwed!
Ok, Just unboxed my TP from Office Depot today. Google Maps seems to find me in my house within 20 meters. However, GPS Test is no dice with finding a single GPS. Is Google Maps doing something different. Im still on Honeycomb, want to see what HC does prior to updating to ICS. Anybody else experienced this.
GPS fix did fix my GPS but it screwed up my wifi. Range got reduced a lot.
gps & wifi fix that works

Haven't tried this out because I don't own this device. What am I doing here??? Who knows.
I experiend this problem with my Prime too. I used GPS Test, w/ or w/o wifi indoor and I get not signal.
Yeah I did too, took it back got another one with mediocre GPS which pretty much is the best you can get. The perfect working prime does not exist, some people will say they have it but they will also say they don't care about GPS. lol
Good luck hope u can still exchange the thing.
you probably have a terrible connection to the gps antenna. my bet is if you go for a drive and point your TFP out the window for 10 mins you might pick up five sats with bad SNR. exchange it!
Try this for GPS...
I am using this on my android phone: GPS 2 Bluetooth v.2.2 by
cajax
And this on the tablet: Bluetooth GPS by Googoo Android
Download from Android Market and follow the directions and you will get full GPS,,,,especially in the house or car with phone close to window
Settings
-on tablet and phone make sure in Development the Allow for mock locations is checked
-on the Bluetooth GPS by Googoo Android app on tablet check mark in settings "Use insecure connection"
Yeah... there is a billion threads on this forum about GPS problems. Mine is non-existent as well.
I was told that it worked for some people before the firmware / ICS upgrade. But if you are looking for GPS, I would highly recommend you take the Prime back and get something else... because Asus pretty much removed that feature off the spec sheet and stated that "it's not designed to be a professional GPS device"
I am on my 3rd prime before I could see any satellites with mine. Here is a video of one working and one not working.
My GPS worked one time, one night. It never worked before or since. So yes, my WiFi is basically dead on arrival and is completely useless and non functioning.
I finally decide to return mine for a fix, Asus sent me the RMA infomation.
I am kinda disappointed in Asus tranformer prime I have been waiting for it more than a year, else I could have iPad 2.
my case: the GPS work out for the couple of first time OUTdoor only. Then after I update to ICS, GPS was stopped working on both w/ or w/o WIFI, outdoor or indoor.
I also the Wifi was having some issues too, the signal was always week, the further you get from the access point, it is likely you want have wifi...where my iPhonw 4 is working at the same distance....

Wow, interesting. When you consider the Prime's only been out a little over a month so h/w should be the same and they're all running the same s/w there shouldn't be huge differences between them. Out of curiousity, do they perform differently with Wi-Fi also?

I have had good wifi on all three. Using speed test app on both my phone and the prime, they both pulled almost identical speeds all over my house. The first one had the serial # unkown issue, gps not working at all and screen bleed. The second one also had screen bleed and no gps found. The third one is a keeper, so far everything works out great. It sucks that I got used to the other 2 primes, customized it and then had to return it. But now, since I have a keeper, I am really going to customize the hell out of it lol.
A lot of the wifi problems I had when I first got the Prime eroded away. Mainly it was Wifi and Bluetooth pair problems, but after nearly a month with the Prime I find that I've been Bluetooth pairing and viewing Hulu+ (hacked) / Netflix without issues.
My GPS isn't prefect, but it works enough where I'm not planning to RMA (or return my Prime) because of it.

whoa... alot of posts!
i dont plan on sending it back, i can live without gps, ill rather use it on my phone.... and the wifi is working fine... just find it a bit weird that it didnt work at all!
worst way for any company to start a top line item... if this worked perfect, imagine how many more sales they would of done... so sad

Suggestions on what to do about my prime

All,
I am open to suggestions on what to do with my prime. Some background:
I bought it because I wanted an Android table that I didn't have to hack to make work and that I didn't have to keep plugged in all the time. I had a Viewsonic Gtablet and that was such a turd I was totally disgusted with having to support it anytime I wanted to use it. I just wanted it to work, but as I am an Engineer by trade I liked the flexiblity that came with an Android tablet vs an iPad.
I was one of the early ones to get the prime, and as such I thoroughly tested everything, screen bleed, dead pixels, battery, bluetooth, wireless, GPS, the whole 9 yards. Then I got the patch that came out around New Years Day and never got GPS back. I called support and they wanted me to send it in for at least 7 days. I found that to be ridiculous and decided to live with it. I got hopeful that as other people got theirs working with newer patches mine would too.
I just got the new patch the other day, still no GPS and as I was trying to use my tablet tonight, it was slower than dirt. I run a speed test and I get 1.5Mbps down, and I pull out my phone and run a speed test over wireless (802.11, not 4G) and I get 15Mbps down. Ran the same tests a few times with consistent results.
I just want a tablet that works and everything works as it should. I don't want an Apple product as I take long flights and like to be able to watch mkvs as well as a couple of other things Apple doesn't do easily. I really thought my Prime would be the solution for me.
So your thoughts on my options:
Return it to ASUS for service, how likely am I to be satisified with those results?
I see that there is a potential fix for GPS, is there one for WIFI? I don't want to hack it to get my stuff to work, but it is an option.
Sell it and buy an Apple Product.
My wife has an iPad and anytime I have issues with my Prime, I pick hers up and it just rocks and rolls. I really like Android and the features it offers over an iOS device, not to mention I really HATE iTunes.
Thanks in advance,
Kevin
I understand about itunes, it drove my away from apple also. But it seems as if the Prime really isn't the tablet for you. I don't know if its just hardware or bad luck, either way I sorry to hear your having problems.
I don't think anyone can make the decision as to what you should do, however it seems as if you have made up your mind already. If you think ipad is a better solution then that might be the better pad for you. Good luck.
unlock it, throw a custom rom on it. worries will be over
IMO, try to return it for a device with C20 or above on the serial number.
Check and see if you can get an exchange, or refund. Refund is probably the better idea over exchange.
For GPS.. if the feature is important to you, Transformer Prime simply isn't the right tablet for you. Look for other alternatives .....
As for WIFI:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/5688/apple-ipad-2012-review/18
It could just be Anandtech's Prime (however, mine is similar to Annandtech.. slightly better or worse on each given day)... but either way, you will be taking a chance if you wish to re-purchase Transformer Prime.

Why is GPS so important? If you really have this device mounted in your car, you should be shot. A 10 inch screen has no place in your car. Look at the road, for christ. Buy a decent smartphone that has GPS. There's really no reason for a tablet to have GPS anymore, with the Wifi system.

here is my suggestion~
Prime isn't perfect, nor the new ipad is and its hard for every user to expect its do all the things it supposed to do (I know its on the spec and we all want it working fine... but u know ipad wasn't perfect too, though it came with a extra egg-cooking function which is not on the spec list) I guess in other few patches, Prime will finally work the way u want it be, but u know, getting other tablet may disappoint u in other ways as well. chances are always there~
so if u really want GPS then refund it~
if u can bear the difference of 1.5 mbps and 15 mbps, then it worth the wait ~

Well if you can live a few months without a tablet, return it and wait for the infinity... It should resolve most of the issues.

Amen!!, This should be stickied and placed in bold. Anybody who buys a wifi device (like the Prime) that would have to be tethered to another device with a cell radio (like a cell phone) to be used properly, but complains that the GPS won't work, needs to rethink the purpose for a wifi tablet.
GPS on a tablet is a gimmick feature at best and I don't blame Asus for removing it from spec. It certainly isn't worth the headache it has casued.

Part of the problem with the Prime forum is ill-informed posts like this one, and the post that prompted it. Note, I'm not singling out the individual posters here as this seems to be a very common sentiment on the Prime forum these days, but just using these posts as an example.
There are many reasons why someone might want GPS on their WiFi only tablet beyond navigation, and even if you did want to use it for navigation in a vehicle, there is absolutely *no* requirement for it to be tethered if you have offline maps.
There are plenty of apps out there that rely on GPS for things like marine navigation, hiking, geo-tagging photos etc that don't need data access, but require having working GPS. Something like the Prime with its IPS+ screen is ideal for those sorts of uses, *if* the GPS worked correctly. Saying that it is a "gimmick feature", or doesn't matter because the WiFi iPad doesn't have it, is patently absurd.
Ok, so Asus have stopped advertising the Prime as having GPS, but that doesn't help those who purchase the Prime beforehand, or those like the OP who had functioning GPS which was nerfed by an update.
It's incredibly short-sighted to just assume that because *you* don't have a use for GPS on a WiFi tablet, no one else does.
Can we please stop with attacking people who just want their tablets to work as they expected?

Dave

Thank you Dave, couldn't have said it better myself.
I didn't buy the tablet so that I could mount it on my dashboard and drive around with it. My previous tablet didn't have GPS, the Apple products do as does the original Transformer. When I pre-ordered mine GPS was listed as a feature and I expected it to work right. It did right out of the box until the first patch came, Asus doesn't recognize it as a hardware problem. GPS is not just for directions, there are quite a bit of applications out there that use Location Based Services and when you aren't connected to Wi-Fi, it would be nice that the GPS actually worked as GPS is a better at Location Based Services than Wi-Fi is.
I also bought a product that supports Wi-FI, accepting that 1.5Mbps down is not really an option.
I just want a product that works everytime I pick it up. The Gtablet was not that product as the ROMS were always in development, and there was always one feature or another not working. That is why when I bout the Prime I wanted a product that just worked.

Good luck.

Thank you ill,
I haven't made up my mind yet, I really really do not want an Apple product. I really want a functioning Android product. I was more posting to see what suggestions people had to get mine to be fully functioning as the product that was advertised and I bought.

IMO, try to return it for a device with C20 or above on the serial number.

returning it is not an option as this was a pre-order and I only had 30 days to return it. I got it the last week of December 2011.
Why not try the Samsung tab 10.1?
If GPS is a requirement, I'd go for a cheap bluetooth GPS, if you can find one that's compatible, and rely on a mobile hotspot if you need data on the road. That being said, I dunno if the bluetooth + wifi problem affects GPS in such a configuration. The Samsung tablet is also a good alternative...that, and a good Windows tablet can be overlaid with RoadRunner or other control and give you a car-oriented interface for Nav and control of music, etc. that rivals a lot of factory control systems. From what I've seen of what's available in android thus far, the options for a control interface in android don't come close to what's available for windows...
My combination of problems differs; I never had a usable GPS, but since the .15 update, I've had no GPS at all (no satellites). That, and the no serial issue, and the bluetooth (A2DP) drops out when streaming audio or video over wifi.
I'm thinking about an RMA, but I'm not encouraged by the reports of effectiveness for forum members that have gone through the process...I'm kinda waiting on the "big announcement" from Gary before I pass judgment on the RMA. I'm kinda hoping on being able to unlock the device at some point, and at least be able to load a custom ROM if I'm stuck with no OTA updates. In the mean time, the tablet makes a great media consumption device and game platform, and I'd like to explore the keyboard option in the near future.
To those with a problem with a car mount: You'd rather someone use a 4.5" Garmin or a dash-mount 7" factory nav? You do know that it's easier to glance at a larger screen when it comes to navigating, right? I don't suggest use of the tablet while driving: Pre-program your routes (and playlists for music) before you go, and pull over for geo-tagging or finding restaurants, etc....but there's no reason a tablet can't be used for in-car purposes, so long as you use a little common sense and foresight. I run a laptop with an in-dash touch screen (7") carputer system, it works fine this way.

I actually purchased cheap Bluetooth GPS to tether to my Prime. I personally find it annoying that I have to carry multiple device & charger... =/
This will ultimately depend on the user...
As for big announcement, don't expect a miracle or hardware "solution" provided by Asus (especially on GPS).
Btw, if the OP can wait.. there are other options.
Such as this one...

You should be able to RMA it with Asus. If the unit they send as a replacement doesn't meet your needs, sell it on eBay. Even used you should have no problem getting $400-450 for it.
I haven't had any of the issues you have described aside from the poor GPS. WiFi works great, the tablet's performance is smooth and apps run fast with no issue. Also the latest update got rid of the annoying "Browser Not Responding" glitch after I did a factory reset.
FYI, GPS never really worked. It it seemed to either you hadn't really tested it, or the Prime was lying to you
If GPS is a necessary feature you will never be happy with the Prime. And yes, I also have an early model (BBOK) with GPS listed as a feature on the box.

I tested my unit very thoroughly as soon as I got it out of the box. I was consistently getting a very fast lock on to at least 13 satellites inside my house. Not sure how the prime would have lied about that. Since the first update around January 1, I cannot get it to lock on to any sattelites outside my house in a field no matter how I hold the unit.

Regards,
Dave

I'm not singling out any individual posters either but since you used mine and noted the one that prompted my response then I'll respond to you.
On this forum I come across a lot of threads that get hijacked because of the GPS issue, it's a known problem Asus acknowledged it and took it off spec. You could always ask for a refund or sell it and get one that is better suited for your needs. It would be a completely different thing if Asus hadn't acknowledged it or worse just simply ignored it but they haven't.
No GPS is not an issue for me, but I understand it is for others however Asus has said it may not work properly and should not be considered in place of a professional GPS unit. There are other tablets that may be a better fit for users who need GPS . So I don't believe it's me who's being short sighted.
I never meant to attack anyone if you feel attacked I apologize but I stand by what I wrote.

Transformer Prime purchased after April 15th looking good

Friends , I got my Transformer prime on April 17 from Office Depot with serial number : C3OKAS##### .
So far no issues with respect to screen freezing , reboots.
I did buy Prime after looking at the previous threads on all the issues , but I couldn't resist the ultimate combination of a Tegra 3 with Android ICS 4.0 . I have installed apps only from Android market and I am using only the stock launcher and yes my prime has not been rooted. My Wifi looks OK no drop outs seen so far. I don't use GPS on my Prime so cant comment on that as of now.
Please let me know if any of you who has purchased Prime( in US) after April 15th has had any issues ? If you are facing issues please post your first six characters of your S/N.
I bought my prime about 3 weeks ago s/n C30KAS****** I have had few problems with it. Screen lockups and maybe one reboot and my Wi-Fi randomly turned off once. Other than those it was been great I love this thing. I am rooted but not unlocked... I want to but I am scared my hardware randomly will go bad after I unlock..
I purhaced mine 2 weeks ago and I have unlocked buutloader, root and custom ROM.
I have never faced any issue, well GPS sucks but I never use it. '
Oh, I faced 1 other issue and thats the keyboard dock... I can see some other have problem with that too. When i connect it to the Prime it wont always allow me to use the keys but only the toggle keys also touchpad wont work, but it fix when i keep reconnect it
Can you tell me your Serial was it C3?

Are you using a different keyboard app?
And beige on a ROM could greatly increase the reasons of why you may have the problem not really a problem of the specific prime itself...I think.
Same serial as OP only problems ive had are a few random reboots that really only occur after using my GPS dongle as well as 2 freeze ups

Oh and I'm rooted

I also have a C3 serial prime, have had 0 problems with it thus far.
i purchased 1 on march 30, C3OKAS also. after 2 weeks using i had to send it for RMA and havent received it back until now =,=. issues:
-rear camera not working, show only green death
-weak wifi
-gps not working
- screen easy to scratch (after 2 days using i have my first scratch =,=)
- browser is lagging and somehow stop
- got few reboots also
overall, totally disappointed...
My C4 is working well so far. I exchanged a BCO for the C4 late last week....
Stronger wifi (much imo)
Haven't disconnected or lost wifi to neighbor's wifi (before BCO couldn't see wifi)
BT/WIFI streams without loss when prime is in front of me (<2 feet) and during Netflix
BT streams within 15 feet while wifi is connected (mp3)
GPS can find satellites outside within 150 seconds without gps (found 15, use 8 distance 29 feet)
Gps with Dongle very accurate (forgot to write #s down)
So far so good - one point to note: I resisted upgrading to .21 and i am STILL on .15. Battery is not draining as much. I also noticed with previous BCO prime that once I upgrade to .21, my BT would not work past 3 feet while wifi was connected (could not stream mp3). I regard this as the increase in wifi strength seen on some models in .21 firmware update thus interferring with BT.
I will get more concrete nubers with wifi analyzer. Does anyone know of a program that runs onscreen that shows my LINK speed and download speed while running Netflix? I need this to see accurate numbers while running BT+Wifi at link speeds. Thx
Ok from our users we see that still some units out there have these issues. I sometimes wonder is it some kinda malware/virus attacking these tablets when downloading certain apps that takes permission to modify ur programs ?

no problems
C30CAS purchased 7 days ago at Office Depot. I haven't had any problems. Not rooted yet that's why I'm on here.
wifi on 2nd worse
Thankfully, I purchased best buy replacement plan. I exchanged a C1OKA due to poor picture quality. Had poor GPS, nonfunctional wifi direct, but strong wifi. Received a C4OKA, and it seems I will have to take this one back because wifi sucks rotten apples. I am about 12 feet away from my router and wifi analyzer is in yellow most times.

Mine arrived on Friday 18th May with C4OKAS and no BT/WIFI issues. Ive registered for the GPS dongle successfully so it seems they are still acknowledging the problem even though I could get a fix reasonably quickly outside.
Good to see that the new devices have the software issues fixed.
I got my gps extension kit. In 10 days!

C4 Serial from BB
Sadly, after a couple of days of use, I began to notice there is in fact some BT WiFi lag while watching Netflix.
There is a noticeable increase in smoothness when watching with the internal speaker instead of the BT headset. The lag isn't bothersome for casual watching of stuff like sitcoms, but on action movies, it is a little distracting.
Don't know if it bothers me enough to return it. But I have a bad feeling I will be standing in front of a TF300T in Best Buy in the next few days, testing the BT and Wifi.
It is a little sad that a $500 tablet has these problems. Damn is that Samsung had Gorilla glass on it.
Not looking good.
C4, purchased today at best buy, GPS not working.
Am I doing anything wrong? First thing I did was download GPS test, run it, and did not get any locks or views.
Gmaps, on the other hand, does lock on to my location, but doesn't it use wifi connections to triangulate a location?
Does GPS test need to be set up in any way?
