Cool thanks. This would be awesome. Save people from a few brick situations.
The only reason they may not is because it gives access to DRM information, correct?

Yea, I have never once considered buying a movie/music there. That is what Netflix/Spotify/Grooveshark is far
I would be 100% okay with a second unlock tool that will further unlock but disable access to DRM material on the market
If I were to hypothetically steal music/movies, It would be on my PC anyway where it is much easier. Hypothetically speaking

that would be okey if they denied us the access, but in trade for that they should have unlocked the entire bootloader, and not on the current state where we are screwed on both sides (and not the pleasant way)..

Just saw this thread funny i had to rant about the same thing last night. IMO if they're gonna fully void our warranty they HAVE to fully unlock it. Anything else is bull****. Not having nvflash and fastboot is a bigger issue than all others combined for me.

and that noob @ asus... wow.. serious... i thought they had more brighter people working there...
also without being capable of using nvflash and fastboot, i won't unlock it i think..
and what if they release a new tool? would it be capable to use at the 'unlocked' devices as well? which im afraid off it won't at start of it...
post the email. We should have the whole forum send them an email. OR lets do another BBB complaint
i just used contact us @ asus.com... you won't get to see a true email adress, but at the bright hand, you don't have to fill in your serial number, just fill in like not-needed i did that as well

I can see a few reasons where it would make sense.
0.) Maybe they can't officially. I'm not sure where TF101's nvflash stuff comes from but I could see nVidia making it an issue not to just throw it around willy nilly. Who knows, they could be held liable or risk damaging their contracts with suppliers (like nVidia).
1.) If it could "Undo" the unlocker, well d'uh we're not gonna get it in any legit way.
2.) Maybe they're fed up with enough leaks and general issues that they don't care, after all two new models coming on line soon. And I do expect even if ASUS isn't replacing the Prime, stores will replace it with the new budget model and the Infinity.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
IF unlocking the boot loader was for rooting(which this could be the case IF fastboot was working), they are basically contradicting themselves. They're saying since the boot loader is unlocked we can now root. The way you root when you unlock the boot loader is by changing ro-secure= from 1 to 0 in default.prop in the boot.img(unsecure boot.img), then flash the unsecure boot.img with fastboot. This gives you a root terminal and adb remount to mount system r/w. This is the proper way to do it.
The guy in that email is full of ****, or has no clue what he's talking about. Most likely both
It makes absolutely NO sense for them to cripple fastboot. Nvflash, I can somewhat see in the eyes of some paper pushing pu$$y, but not fastboot.
maybe someone else should try to email... ;/

How to Developer Unlock WP7.5(mango) for FREE!! (works with previous OS too)

Mod edit: Thread closed. This is borderline, if not explicitly, fraud.
The technique involves wrongfully claiming that you are a student at a particular community college--one, in which you do not intend on taking any classes. It is unethical, and really mean to use the college in such a manner.
If the OP wants to make another thread explaining how people with .edu mail accounts (college professors, students, and staff) can perform a free developer unlock, that is fine. Just please do not ever write about how to defraud an educational institution. That's just unethical.
If your thread was deleted, it's probably not without a reason. What you're explaining in this tutorial seems illegal to me, this might be the problem. I doubt if mods will keep this thread alive...

Of course. It's fraud. You're not a developer and you're not a student of said university.
The problem with this is that you are claiming to be something/someone that you are not (a student). This is a procedure that is open to everyone if you register as a developer ($99 a year).

An interop unlock isn't illegal as you may do with your phone whatever you want. It may void your warranty though, get over it.
This is fraud, and fraud is illegal, for sure.

This is not a interop unlock in the first place. Its the lite version of the dev unlock. You can sideload three apps with it. And as most people said I guess its illegal. Don't forget that your live id is sent to Microsoft during this step.

What is so illegal about it? Generating a SSN code? Well, I suppose it would be perhaps illegal too if you entered a transposed number, mistakenly?

HTC dev unlock

Well, I'm not really sure where to ask this, since there isn't a thread related to it, but..
What the hell am I doing wrong with the htcdev unlock?
I'm not sure if the phone should be in recovery, bootloader or what. I've tried both and the dev site still does nothing for me.
I'm feelin pretty damn stupid at this point, because I know I'm missing something obvious.
it'll need to be in fastboot to unlock, are you getting any error messages when you try?

it is so straight forward
read it properly and carefully
Tried it in fastboot as well, no go. Also tried with settings->power->fastboot checked and unchecked.
No error messages, nothing. I select "all other supported models" then click on begin and nothing happens at all.
Connecting fine through adb, so I'm kind of lost.

Yes, spoon feed me and get condescending because nothing happens when I click "Begin Unlock Bootloader"
So if nothing happens at that point, please treat me like a moron and tell me exactly what I'm supposed to be carefully reading.
Damn.
If YOU were carefully reading, you would have seen that I already stated that nothing happens at all when I try to start the process. Instead, you wanted to treat me like a moron instead of actually trying to help.
I had tried on IE, Firefox and Chrome on two different computers, same thing.
Uninstalled Chrome, reinstalled and it finally worked. Thanks xHausx for trying to help.
If it's any consolation, I can't even activate my account on htcdev. How's that for a moron? Lol no worries man. There's someone out there that will help. Unfortunately there's a lot of dipshits along the way. Hang in there.

I just drove to New York yesterday to buy the TF701T and I must say that this version is like night and day compared to the TF700T. It is very snappy out of the box whereas the TF700T was sluggish and slow before I actually unlocked the boot loader and put cyanogenmod on it. For the TF701T, I will probably root it just for SU but I will probably keep the stock Rom because it is really smooth.

Agreed, I just received my TF701 from Amazon yesterday and right out of the box it blows my TF700 out of the water. Barely any slowdown while downloading and installing apps whereas the 700 would grind to a halt. Dock arriving today, hopefully Asus solved the dock battery draining issue as well. Root would be nice for apps like Titanium Backup but this is my first Android device - and I've owned a lot of them - that I might be happy with totally stock.

Mine is Rooted, with CWM Recovery. And it was actually a simple procedure.
I can tell you that before you even think about proceeding, you will need to have your device unlocked. That can be found at Asus's web site. In their download section, I'm sure.
Next, you'll need to make sure that your PC/Laptop can see your device. My Win7 setup saw it already as a "K00C", or some such thing, but if yours doesn't, then get the "Sync" util from Asus and install it on your PC. It'll install the drivers with it. But then go back and uninstall the Sync util. The drivers will be left on your system.
Before connecting your device, make sure to disable all Anti-Virus, Anti-Mal/Spyware from any and all Real Time scanning. Also completely disable any and all firewalls you have installed. If you haven't installed any, then guess what? Windows Firewall is still running, so disable it!
You will also need to use a USB 2.0 and not 3.0 port on your computer to connect your device to. Why? I don't know man, just do it!
Do NOT connect your device yet! You're just getting ready here!
Next you'll need the little mini ADB &FastBoot setup. You're going to have to use that to do it (it's in the video where to get it and how to use it). If he doesn't tell you where to get it from in the video, then I think this guy has a link to it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516215
Heck, maybe that's where I got it from. I just remember that it's the "mini" version. The "just needed stuff" one.
Then go and watch the video in the link below. It's too wordy and doesn't even tell you what web sites he's looking at, so really, who cares what Josh would do (you'll get that later)?
In fact, maybe I got tired of the video and just found the guys page that I linked to above and followed that and that's where the "who cares what Josh would do" joke sticks in my head. That does sound more logical. <lol>
Either way, read through this and try that guys page, or the video first. I do know that by doing what I said in this message and using one of those two sources, you WILL get Rooted! That's a FACT! I'm sorry about this. It's just that it's been a couple of weeks since I did it and I didn't write it all down like I should have.
But here's the web sites he's looking at in the video (have them already open before starting the video):
CWM Page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2621051
CWM File: http://droidbasement.com/asus/tf701t/recovery/
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IBN1YkBp3g
Now there's stuff I'm missing in here. I probably didn't bookmark everything, but whatever I missed here, was in the video, so don't worry.
Note: Someone mentioned somewhere about keeping Recovery intact when installing a ROM, or a reset, etc.. CWM has a setting for that. It keeps the recovery intact through that stuff. I remember it kept staying on me one time when I wanted to go back to factory to sell the device and then I went into the settings and saw that one, which is enabled by default, so don't worry about that anymore.
One thing; It says in the video that you have to be at JB 4.3 first. That's correct, so update. There is one available through your device's "Software Update" thingy.
One thing that is incorrect, is when he says; "You must be at such and such version of this thing" (whatever it was), which is related to your version of JB 4.3. Yours won't be. Now yer scared, uh?
Don't worry about that. It's not true! It'll work just fine! Mine did. That was probably just what the version was when they developed this thing and so they're playing it safe. I don't blame them, but how can anyone know that it "must" be, when newer versions of JB 4.3 (huh?) hadn't come out yet. No need to scare people. Just say as far as you know.... but who knows for future revisions of the OS, right?
Anyway, this'll get ya through it, if you can deal with Josh's wordiness. Just be patient, he gets there. But you do have to take some of what he says with a grain of salt, like any of what you watch/read. My rule as a tech is, if it doesn't make sense, then it's probably wrong.
Hope this helps. And you didn't have to "Read! Read! Read!". That never gets you anywhere. You just end up reading a bunch of threads full of messages by people looking for help and others responding by telling them to read. And if you're lucky, you always end up at that one post that actually has the help you need. So why not just point people there in the first place? When that doesn't happen, XDA and other sites just end up cluttered with threads that delay people from getting help, instead of pointing them to help, which is what they were looking for in the first place, right?
Don't get me wrong, I love to read! And I encourage everyone to do the same! I'm just saying, with all due respect, reading a bunch of threads full of nothing but pleas for help and "read, read, read", is not learning. It's just noise. Unnecessary static. And threads with 70 pages of that doesn't help anyone, now does it?
I'm no saint, but this is my only post in this thread. And now there won't be 100 more messages containing "Help!!!" and "Read! Read! Read!".
The heck with that! I just want my device Rooted now! Hahaha!
If I forgot anything in here, just lemme know. I'll try to find it again. Or maybe I have the file. If you don't hear back from me, just PM me or something. I'm not on here all that much, but that will send me an alert or something, I'm sure. I think? Oh well, try it.
The biggest thing is, just don't let your fear of bricking your device overwhelm you. I have to say, that even though I never used any of this stuff before (meaning ADB & FastBoot & "pushing") and I was quite nervous, it actually was, looking back at it, a really simple procedure! So use my hindsight to hammer down that fear and Root, my son, root! <lol>

In the last few years, I've become more of a leave it stock person.
My previous devices, Dell Streak 5, Galaxy Note1 (international), needed root, new kernels, new OS just to make

I have a Dell Streak 7 and still have the original Note 1 (though neither is getting any action lately). I am usually a tinkerer but I have to agree with you that this phone is not too shabby on stock. I am glad I have root so I can delete some of the bloat.

I didn't use mine, but have it stashed away...just in case.
In the last few years, I've become more of a leave it stock person.
My previous devices, Dell Streak 5, Galaxy Note1 (international), needed root, new kernels, new OS just to make
them work properly, but, for me anyway, quite frankly, all I've had to do with my Mate2, is charge it up and turn it
on. Probably one of the most stable devices I've used, since my old analog & digital Motoroal Star-Tac flip phone.

Just reading threads thinking of getting mate 2 to just play with. My post is because I saw you had the Dell streak 5. I didn't think anyone still had them, But I still have mine with Longhorn as the os still.

I think mine ended with 4.04? I've still got it...even with the quirks, I enjoyed it!
Did the online tool work for anyone? We reported the issue and I wanted to make sure it was fixed for Mate2.

I'm about to find out lol
The link redirects me here. That's after it makes me have to login by either an account with them or via facebook. No signs for acquiring the bootloader code on their website.... Using Chrome Browser.

There is a link toward the top, right side to unlock. You select that. BUT IT DOESN'T WORK!

Brush Unlock??? Not seeing anything related to unlocking the bootloader on that website.
If you are seeing the link then copy it here. I haven't dived into Brush Unlock since it requires to create a "nickname" which I am not interested in doing. Have tried other links on that site to no prevail. It's bad enough I had to link it to my facebook just to get this far....

Sorry, the photo was kind of small and I had trouble reading it. So, no, not Brush Unlock.
When I follow the link in the OP I then log in using my Huawei account that I created previously. Then I am taken to a page to download the new EMUI 3. I click on the download link and at the top, right of that page (just above the pics of the different phones) is a link for "Unlock Bootloader". Previously this took me to the tool to unlock the bootloader. Today it just takes me in a loop, back to the original page to download the EMUI 3. So, it appears that not only does it not work, they have now really broken it.
If you want to PM me your information I will try and get your unlock code. I would need:
Serial Number:
IMEI:
Also, please confirm that you have an MT2-L03, the US version of Ascend Mate 2.

Yea, I remember it showing the "unlock bootloader" link a while back which is what I was initially looking for lol. I Sid some googling earlier and found the actual link that lets you put in the information but I don't think it's been updated at all lol. No option for this device. All international. They need to link up with HTC and learn from them about how to handle this kind of stuff since it is web based.

I think it's only north american devices that don't work with that tool? or is it WIND specific
