Why no cradles for Transformer Prime - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I want to be able to charge my Prime in a standing orientation, and most cell phones or other tablets have cradles that fit the bill. Looks like there never was one made for the Transformer, which makes me fear the Prime wont get one either. Anybody know of anything like this for the Prime?

Just get one of these universal stands:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CKVOOY
Use the included charging cable. If you want to use the prime in Landscape mode, just place your Prime on the stand upside down. Most apps will auto rotate correctly in the reversed landscape position. For the pesky few that don't you can always use Orientation Control:

[Q] An ASUS transformer keyboard for gtab?

Hey guys, I've been a long time lurker but never really posted that much.
i was wondering if there was any way that the ASUS transformer keyboard can be hacked with the gtab dock adapter? I dont im alone in this, or if not that do you think there will be some third party who would make one? I think the sale on woot and now amazon might help push manufactures to make it.
Its very less likely that the keyboard would work due to the proprietary connector.
That said, a blutooth keyboard with a 10" enclosure should work no problem, and I see many manufacturer going into this once the transformer style become popular.
There is nothing unique about the eee keyboard the convertible style keyboard was already available for IPAD2 long before any one knew about the EEE.

I just love the idea that I can have a netbook and a tablet and switch at my convenience. The links that you posted is exactly what I am looking for. Is there anything in that style that will fit the Gtab?

unfortunately not that slick, you currently can go with the clip cases with USB or BT keyboards, they are very campy compared to this (well at least the USB version doesn't cost that much).
That said, I think with the huge recent surge in GTab owners, I don't think it would be that before some go on and make a professionally looking case like the ones quoted above (esp if the EEE transformer goes popular)
Crossing my fingers to that! I've spent a lot of time looking at everything that is currently available for our G tabs, and nothing seems "professional"; instead it all looks slapped together. Engadget has been posting a few articles about the G tab and with the lower price and the over clocking kernels....
Here me hoping that some third party shines some light back in Viewsonic's direction.

[Q] How far do you have to close your docked Prime before the screen sleeps?

Hi all,
I'm on my second Prime now, but as I was without a Prime for nearly two weeks, I can't not remember how the first was, so could do with some feedback from the board.
What I'm wondering is how far you have to close you docked prime before the screen goes into sleep mode? With my current Prime I have to get within a few millimeters of fully closed before the screen sleeps, and I'm concerned that it could wake while closed if the dock is moved even slightly.
So, how far from fully closed does your docked Prime get before sleeping? And is this (potentially) a setting that can be configured either within software or hardware?
Mine goes to sleep at approx 20 mm
I previously had the original Transformer with dock, and now I have the Prime with dock. Both of them had to be closed to sleep. Unlike the notebooks I have with mechanical lid switches, I'm guessing ASUS is using some sort of magnetic sensor that's very short range. It appears that just a few mm is all there might be.
Bye.

You are correct sir. There is a magnet in the dock that is sensed and lets the tablet know to go to sleep. I have had two docks apart and have messed around with the magnet. It has to be very close to get the tablet to sleep.

If I've helped you in any way... hit the "Thanks" button.
Thanks all. Looks look my Prime is within tolerance then, and that it's not user adjustable (presumably without adding a stronger magnet within the dock).
yep, almost all the way. it's not that easy to open though so i wouldn't worry about it accidentally turning on in that way.

[Q] Invert scrolling on dock trackpad?

So Apple has me into the whole "inverted" scrolling on trackpads... now I can't get used to it being one way on my prime and another on my macbook.
The hard solution is sell the mac and buy a new laptop...
The easier solution... is there a way to invert it on the prime?
Try Settings-> Asus Customized settings. Then on the cursor option, change to gesture mode. I think that will yield the results you're looking for.
Indeed it does... however it also changes the mouse cursor to a giant circle?
Can you uninvert it on the Mac? Then your Mac and prime will match too.

I just wished that swiping on the keyboard acted the same as it does on the Prime itself! Lol, I hate going from moving my hand one way on the screen to the opposite way on the trackpad.
I'm already used to it, but I shouldn't have had to get that way: seems counter-intuitive this way doesn't it?
yes. its annoying.
Just get an external mouse. 30 bucks and I can use the scrollwheel too.

Um. Why? No, I have plenty of wireless mice, but then why did I buy a $150 dock with a trackpad? In some situations I do use a mouse/keyboard, but that still solves nothing about the trackpad swiping - you don't swipe side to side with a mouse wheel.

"THE dock club"

Well guys I just joined the club!! =)
Just convinced my wife to let me use the credit card rewards to buy one on amazon! (Ill get yelled at later, it wasn't a real yes but yes enough for me! Married men will understand lmfao!)
Either way, time to get positive about the prime!
What do you like best about your dock? What don't you like?
Is the extra battery awesome? Does it add a lot of weight? What reasons did you buy it for? What reasons do you love it now that you have it?

I like it, I plan on using it for school productivity. Notes and also splashtop my PC and do powerpoints etc.
Congrats and I know how it is getting permission from the wife to get new toys.
I love the extra battery life. And when I go to cafes I can set it on the table and type rather than hold it or set the tablet on its back. Love the looks from people too when I undock it.
Don't know how I lived without it.

The only thing I've done is disable the touchpad on the dock since I kept hitting it in error.

Heh heh I've pulled that trick. Then I hold up both pieces and say oh no oh what have I done!!!
I never thought I'd use the dock but decided to give it a try and i turns out i love it. There are a few apps I use that only can be used in portrait mode and the dock makes those a little cumbersome to use but otherwise it's great. Extra battery life along with the SD card slot and usb is frosting on the cake, Beat that iPad. I;ve never looked back at dumping my iPad. Hate iOS love Android. Get the dock you'll not be sorry.

Great addition that compliments the Prime in all ways
First of all I think it's safe to say that the dock completely surpassed my expectations.
Build quality is top notch and has he exact same finish as the tablet itself.
The hinge is super high quality. Really gives you confidence when docking the tablet, it also makes a very obvious click sound when docking.
The extra battery life is a great feature.
SD card and usb slot very useful.
Typing is very comfortable, a lot more comfy than I thought it would be.
When docked and closed the Primes screen is kept safe (big plus).
It also is useful for keeping the prime at very comfy using angles, even if you don't actually need to use the keyboard.
I find myself using the dock a lot more than I thought I would.
The only thing I don't like is that the key mapping works best
on the built in Asus keyboard.
When you use any other keyboard the key mapping isn't great.
So I find myself having to switch to the Asus keyboard every time I dock the Prime, which is kind of annoying.
All in all the dock is one of the Prime's best features. Really love it. Gives you a great and somewhat unexpected (for the good) experience.
I love it, it's faster to type, the battery never ends and certainly looks much better!
Awesome! These are the responses I was hoping for! I'm super excited to get mine! I'm really excited for pretty much all the features. Can't wait to set my emulators back up now that I can have it at a nice angle without holding it. I need to start looking into some high density SD cards too. This 32gb micro is nice but now I can get full size.

If you are rooted, try Keyboard Manager from the market. Allows you to choose what keyboard you want to use in Portrait, Landscape, and Docked. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ne0fhykLabs.android.utility.kmLauncher
Hope this helps.
I love mine & typing is a breeze on it.It actually has changed my view of tablets now.As I will only buy a tablet that docks with a keyboard from now on.Coming from a Motorola XOOM this baby is badass.People freak out when I show it to them then detach the tablet from the dock lol.
I love my dock. Completely awesome. USB port, battery, holding the Prime together.. Just be careful about stressing your Prime when opening / closing. I have the start of a crack on it, otherwise fully fonctional Prime, and I beleive it might be related to the opening and closing stress on the glass. See other thread, " I cracked my Prime " or something. There is a bunch of us usimg the dock that got that problem, while being as gentle with our Primes as with newborn kittens. Otherwise, it beat any currently available combination of bluetooth keyboard + tablet. It fully replace my laptop.

Any picture of where the crack is starting to appear??
When I present it to friends in the docked form... they like it, but not really excited. In the moment I undock it they freak out. Lots of working collegues and friends travel alot and are it freaks... the idea of a tablet AND an ultrabook in one freaks them out. One guy ordered it just after it. No negative feedback till now, all find it an amazing idea.
Yeah I was hesitant at first, but I came around. I'm getting very excited for it. If I can figure out how to cool my tegra 3 properly the extra battery life will be great when I get to 2ghz lol.
Edit: anyone have a list of do's and dont's for the dock? Like certain ways to open or close. Also at night should I plug in the dock and put the tablet in to charge?

Finally I have a reason to root.
It's kinda weird, every android phone I have owned has been rooted within days of purchase.
With the TFP I just didn't find a reason or feel the need to root. Everything just worked perfectly out of the box.
First reason to root.
Thanks for that.

Haha, I was going to say in my original reply that if you haven't rooted already this alone was probably good enough reason to do so

Thanks gonna try this out.
EDIT: works good. But with thumb keyboard as my default it looks like a I didnt need to change back to android keyboard since layout didnt change. I was hoping the backspace key would finally act as back button like it does on a PC.
I love it. The extra battery life is always welcomed. Typing on a normal keyboard is easier and faster for me. Plus the USB port comes in handy for transfering files on a USB drive or plugging in a USB gamepad for a game
havent taken it out of the dock in 2 weeks now. i love it
Sold out on amazon again! Now resellers want 200 for it lol. Glad I snagged one when I did!

[Q] TF201 Dock, or BT Keyboard

I wanted to buy the prime keyboard dock today, but I'm wondering if a bluetooth keyboard, mouse kit would be better. Does anyone use a 3rd party keyboard/mouse combo, BT or otherwise?
I plan on using my prime with a desk, not so much on the go. As the touch screen virtualboard is fine on the go.
Not so much a $ issue as being more comfortable, creating documents, emails, researching, etc.
Any ideas, or experience would be greatly appreciated.
If its not $ issue might as well get a dock with full USB and SD card support with extended battery and uses the same charger. Its also nice that the dock has a home, back, sleep buttons. And the dock can be your stand that allows the tablet to be angled at any angle for the most part. Doest do 180 degrees though.

I've never used a Bluetooth keyboard so not sure there but the keyboard dock works great. I personally thought about getting a Bluetooth keyboard but Im glad I got the dock.
One of the "stickies" is about Bluetooth & WiFi....don't know if a keyboard would fall into that issue category or now....I have the dock and love it....wouldn't go for a bluetooth keyboard at all....+ I'm sure at sometime or other, there will be pairing or connection issues....since the dock is a "plug-in"....no issues
Plus, less to carry around....dock protects the screen when closed.
Check out the "Dock Club" thread
( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1555586
..you'll see good reviews about it.
Bob
Had a bt keyboard for a while. It absolutely sucked. Lag from it being bt made it horrible. Tried 2 and they sucked. I ended up getting the asus dock and after about an hour of use with all the features asked myself wtf? Why didnt i do this sooner, lol
Theoretic the Asus doc is perfect because of the extra battery, Android keys etc. but it definitely is responsible in a certain amount for cracked screens. And Asus doesn't seem to stand behind their product and repair it under warranty...the doc is a perfect tool until it cracks the screen...
