[Q] Dell Streak 5 Official 2.3 release o2 UK - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm new to Android and to the Streak and am wanting to upgrade from 2.2 to the 2.3 official release made by dell just before Xmas. It appears I need to have the 350 version first loaded before downloading the upgrade. Is there a step by step tutorial on youtube or elsewhere on how to do this. Specifically the 350 question. I've seen instructions in point form on how it's done, but not being especially technical, it's largely over my head. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Morgan.

No tutorial on youtube, sorry. Besides, it's really not that difficult to flash the 350 recovery so you can upgrade. Look for a tool named "Multirecovery Flasher" in development and use that. Download the 350 recovery image and stick it in one of MRF's directories, overwriting the existing image that is there. Follow the directions in the Streak wiki to put the Streak into Fastboot mode and then run MRF. From there you should be able to install the ROM.

Here's a tutorial on youtube by scattydroid and he's on o2 too...

[Q] Need Help Please!

Please excuse my "new-ness" to the forum but I need help. Bought the G Tablet last week and need help installing a new rom on it. I have heard about the VEGAn-TAB BETA 5.1. Is this good? What would you recommend and how to I install it?
Thanks!
Courtney
Google "g tablet for dummies" . the developer of the site, username GoodIntentions did an amazing job of describing the process. It will step you through the process very clearly.
I've only had my gtab for a couple of weeks and have had no problems loading ROMs, having never rooted anything before.

[Q] CM7 on HBOOT 1.01. What do?

Hey guys,
I know, there are several tutorials who explain, how to root a HTC Legend HBOOT 1.01.
I created a goldcard successfully, but now, the tutorial I want to use, this one, tells me in its second step, I should already have a rooted phone, but I'm using the tutorial to root this phone ?!
How should I already have a rooted phone in a tutorial which tells me how to root it?
Btw, next step of the tutorial is, to downgrade the legend to 1.31.
Can I use this tutorial too? [HOWTO] DOWNGRADE to 1.31 which you can then root for Legend 2.1
Please, can someone bring me back on the right way, I am confused and read too much different tutorials, don't know which one to follow now.
My target is a working CM7 with CWR on my mates legend.
Nobody can help me? Plz, just a link might help...
Quick intro
Hi
you need a Legend with version 2.1 of Android if you want to root your phone - and part of the 2.1 software suite includes RUU ver.1.31 which is the last version allowing us to upload to our own devices.
1. First you make a goldcard making it possible to downgrade your otherwise locked firmware in your phone as your goldcard unlocks Android 2.2 on your Legend.
2. Then you install Android 2.1 which includes RUU 1.31 making it possible to upgrade/update/exchange the ROM as you please as it is locked in later versions after version 1.31.
3. You find a good ROM on and follow one of the many guides on this page TO THE LETTER - ROM on sdcard and so on
4. Flash, Enjoy and press Thanks to the people who gave you the ROM

[Q] Root/Flash Atrix on Linux

Hi All,
I recently bought an Atrix. I would like to root the phone and then flash a custom ROM onto the phone. However, I have a Linux OS on my laptop (running Ubuntu 10.10) and all the guides I've seen use Windows programs.
Has anybody successfully rooted an Atrix using Linux, or has anybody come across a guide that explains it using Linux?
Any help appreciated.
If you looked at the sticky at General forum you would see that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255548

And about flashing roms, you need to unlcok your bootloader first, and you can do it with Linux system, read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
Good luck and have fun
Cheers. I'll check out the links later.
The links talk about gingerbread - my Atrix (UK) still runs on 2.2. Will the aforementioned method still work on my Atrix?
