^^ agreed
I checked the moment I saw this post back around 4:15 and it was sold out, not seen them back in stock since then so I wonder if Gersonian pulled the trigger on the wrong thing... unless somehow he checked in during some small window when they put a few more back up.

I accidentally did just that last week.
I was thinking of getting one anyway, but I won't use it nearly as much as the USB adapter.

to be honest, i saw about 4 of them for $20 at my local bestbuy next to the og transformer. i didnt buy one because i have the dock

I guess I was late. -_-

I think someone on here very early on said that it was not compatible with the prime. Do a search and see.

It's works with Prime. The only bad thing is its design is for the TF101, seems the contact that is supposed to go in to prime is to short.
So it is very loose. I feel like that prime port will break if you for example have a usb cable connected to the adapter while holding Prime. You have to have prime lying on the table so the adapter is supported and does not come off.
Asus really should make a new adapter that made for Prime. hope more people see the problem and make Asus know about the problem.

Sorry to hear that. Mine is on it's way as we speak arriving in two days.

Shame they didn't make a new one. The quality of this is extremely poor. It is loose, it will fell of when you connect something.

Feel the same as you. Sits loose and feels like it will bend/brake the port on prime when you connect something. Can't understand why they didn't add mini/micro usb port when they not have plan to release proper accessories.
Think it's a big failure from Asus that not have accessories that fits good.. instead we have to use the same accessories from the first transformer TF101. All Android feels like beta products that the user have to find out own solution and ways to get things to work.
Love Android but start the get little sick that every device that is released feels like a test unit.
Hate to say it. But Apple plays in a different league because everything just works and feels solid. And have adapters that are made for the device.

rant...feel free to skip
A) Though apple does definitively make a good device lets not get to preachy...lol but they have stuck with the same port for all devices and the lashing that they would receive if one did not fit properly would be terrible
B) I also wish that they would make a new usb kit but to me, though this is my first tablet so I may be entirely accurate, it seems that the usb kit for the tf101 wasn't very popular either, I also wish that Asus's "store" actually had the accessories that they make for their devices, I would prefer to just order from manufacturer on some of the accessories but instead am forced to scour the web to find a store that actually sells them and has them in stock
Sorry for the rant but even though I love my Prime, Asus continually disappoints me

Took a knife and cut / scraped off some plastic on the side of the adapter to the front / screen. This makes the plug can be pushed further in Prime so it fits a little better. Was better but not really good. What is missing is support for the connector on the back of the prime. I assumes that the design had to go before the functionality when they designed this tablet.
Edit: no need to cut. the smal part can be taken off.

Looks better than the fruit version
From http://www.amazon.de/Smart-Cover-Ee...GTJ2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1322429217&sr=8-4
I'd consider it if it wasn't for the two small boys. Regardless, it is a pretty ingenious design. Still, I wouldn't be comfortable without their being additional protection from something like Skinomi's screen and body protector films.
I've been waiting for this to show up on Amazon's US site, or another major US distributor. Not sure I want to order the thing from Germany, as I have a feeling that by the time that it gets shipped from the German Amazon, it will have shown up elsewhere and I'd be able to get faster/cheaper shipping.

That's only if Asus fixed the charging issues with the dock. With the TF101, it is not really a good idea to keep the thing docked all the time as you'll drain the dock's battery and could possibly damage it. On the TF101, it is better to only have the keyboard plugged in when you are using the keyboard or the tablet is very low on battery, but the dock is charged.
I think that it's up in the air right now in terms of whether it will be a good idea to store the TF201 docked.

the dock will charge the pad only to about 90% then wait until it drops to about 70.
So I guess that won't be a problem
The dock sucking the battery from the tablet was fix by Asus in an update, Iknow, I had it.
Yes the battery on the dock is still leaking (I have an early model, they could fix it if I send it back to them but it doesn't bother me that much) but it doesn't drain power from the tablet anymore.
And I'm pretty sure those issues aren't there at all in the Prime.

dont know but there have got some trademark or patent for something on the smart cover. it might just be method of attachment or even the name
Since this attaches magnetically, won't it interfere with the Prime's built in e-compass, like cases with magnetic closures did with the TF101?
I'm unable to tell, but it almost looks like this could hold the tablet up in a portrait orientation?
Or is my brain just telling my eyes what it hopes to see?
What's interesting is that the only information that we have on this is from Amazon.de. On the product page, there is no mention of the method of attachment, and there are no images showing the back of the smart cover, or how it attaches. My guess is that if this is not magnetic, they might use the two slots that the dock hooks into to attach the cover.
I would be happy either way, but what would make me really happy is if they put the smart cover up for pre-order and started shipping out units. Has anyone found a US site that has the smart cover on pre-order?

I have only found it on my local UK eBay so I'm not sure if anyone else can get it. Amazon seem to sell it also.

I have seen it on other sites as well its made by MOFI I think, its often sold for the Kindle Fire as well.
I promise this is not my eBay auction, I just found it and wanted to share the case.
Have ordered even before I get a Nook Tablet in Jan.
Hi, seems like a nice one....how much did you pay for it?
Cheers,

In the end I found it on Amazon.co.uk for £9.95 by searching Mofi Tablet Bag.
Should be much quicker then arriving direct from China.

I was going to get that, but when I saw that the buttons were covered, that was my stopping point. I don't see why they couldn't put provisions in for the buttons. Plus, the price was a bit much.
Hi again. Yup...the buttons are indeed covered, but have you noticed the +/- signs for the volume? I guess on the other side there must be a "O" for the power sign.
The question stands though, could we click on the buttons easily through the plastic cover?
Giz
I have the Tasume. The button's aren't as easy to hit as when out of the case, but it isn't bad. The power buttion isn't covered by the case as it's on the side you slide it into the case. The stand up in any direction feature is really slick imho, and the reason I bought it.
There is no hole for the mic. I didn't care as a I have yet to use it and I figure some scissors or a lighter and a needle can fix that easily enough.
The major problem I have with it is that it is smooth and therefore a little slippery. A slippery case half defeats the purpose of a case. It does have a little bump on the back from the flap the holds the device in and I've almost trained myself to automatically hold it by the bump, so that's not as big a deal as it was when I got it, but still hardly ideal.

I ordered the cheaper Samsung one.
I could not work out a reason for the price difference, unless the seller has missed some of them when raising / dropping the price.
Or perhaps they think some will be more popular then others?

I have this case. I had looked for a case that would also hold the tablet in portrait and landscape, but at the time, there was not much to choose from.
My main interest would be for landscape to watch movies. In portrait, I am usually reading or using a browser so holding it is fine.
I found that if I move the elastic strap into a position it really should not go, the case works perfectly and supports landscape at almost any angle.
Not sure how long the elastic will hold out, but after 2 months it seems to holding up fine so far.

My 2 Primes with Charging Connector Issues!!! Screen Bleeding Not Happy Here

Ah!!!
I just received the 2 Primes one for my wife (From Staples) and one for me (Best Buy).
The one from Best Buy:
- Strike (1) Screen bleeding on the bottom right and it looks like fluorescent finger prints. I can live with that.
- Strike (2) It will not charge. The connector came off the cable with no effort at all.
The One from Staples:
- Strike (3) Connector also came off with no effort at all.
At this point I'm about to return both Primes and look for other alternatives.
I was happy with the TF101 but the Prime quality already gave me a very bad taste.

One would think that even reasonable QC would find problems like this. I mean really the covers coming off, not to mention the Prime not charging.
I realize that new products can have some manufacturing issues but as my first tablet I had hoped Asus would have tight QC procedures and defects would be at a minimum. Especially being announced as the flagship for Tegra 3 and ICS. Instead it appears the QC department took a vacation along with the engineering department and left the bean counters and marketing in charge of production and launch. At least it would explain a few things!
(no offense directed at bean counters or marketing people directly)

I wouldn't expect such QC issues from a Gen 2 product. Its the main reason that I cancelled my pre-order which would have been arriving 12/28 - 12/29. They clearly cut some corners to keep the price 200 dollars below a comparable iPad 2, and the customer always pays in the end. I'll wait for better options in a few months and save my 500 bucks. I'm still very pleased with my TF101, and the hands on I was able to get with the Prime were less than impressive.
I hope this doesn't happen to mine

Wow that some careless quality control.
Wow...

having come from a background in production facility of white box computers i couldn't disagree with you more, tell me that you would have inspected EVERY SINGLE tech leaving your facility.
Anyone who says "wow, bad QC" has flatly never been in a QC role of that magnitude.
At the height of our production, we were producing about 5K machines by hand a month. might not seem like it but break it down and you'll realize it's cooking pretty fast.
Am I a fan of the crap Asus seems to be releasing..no...in-fact i'm quite upset that my tab has "features" I've not had the right to refuse. But to say blanketly "bad qc" is just plain silly and honestly ignorant.
**ASUS. I'm ashamed of you for releasing a product that had the potential of being bleeding edge...now i think it's just going to be bleeding your customers...

more over...can you get them to replace your tablet? lol
xXxDieselxXx when did you purchase your Prime from Best Buy?
I had light bleed on mine too which I ended up returning. I'm not sure if I wanna order again too quickly since they are pushing these out like crazy. Then having to worry about open box return policy. I bet this 2nd batch still are being rushed.
As far as the charging connector go. If the charging cable isnt broken I have a feeling sooner or later it will break again or the socket on the tablet will break. There's special care taken when you are charging cause there's a huge chance you can bend the connector backwards as there is no real support on the back side since its curved in.
Just got off the phone with Asus, they cannot replace the tablet, only repair it...which would take 7-14 business days. At this rate, this puppy is going back to BB for a refund unless by some miracle they have these in stock within my return period (13 days).
I put tape on my cord until I can get some crazy glue! lol

Pay for Plastic Back Cover? (Fail: Too Expensive)

I have access to a fabricator and could probably come up with a high-quality plastic back cover. I don't want to waste my time or yours if people aren't interested. Assume somewhere between $50-75 uninstalled and about $15 if you want to send it in and have a done by a h/w engineer (yes, I have access to those too). The more people order the cheaper they would be - the $'s above are based on about 100 people.
Some questions:
1) What color should the back be and why?
2) Should the back have matching metal ornamentation so it looks cool with the dock? This would be more $'s
3) Do you think the majority would DIY or want it done by a tech?
Can't promise anything but I'd certainly look in to it if there's enough demand.
If confirmation occurs, count me in.
if asus don't come up with a fix and it came to this (which i don't think it will) i would definitely want a clear back. would looks so awesome

You actually made me think of something. Maybe the whole back doesn't need to be replaced. Perhaps just a fairly large cut out with a plastic insert. I guess it depends how much clearance there is between the back and the components and where the antennas are located. I don't know how feasible it is to try and cut aluminium but I'll ask.
I'd be in provided it's confirmed that fixes the issue. Clear would be slick, but I'm not picky.
I would definitely be interested in this. You could make an entire market out of this. "Custom Transformer Backs." I'm still interested to see whether ASUS will handle this on their own however. If they don't, I doubt you'll have many customers with Transformer Primes in order to sell them.

yay for the first windowed tablet mod. hapens on pc's and consoles so i guess why not.
Imo a clear cut out would be even slicker than a full replacement back if improvements were equal

I guess it depends how much clearance there is between the back and the components and where the antennas are located. I don't know how feasible it is to try and cut aluminium but I'll ask.

But a full back replacement would be better if folks ever have to return prime for future issues? Could just put the old back on before returning
What if you just cut a round circle out of the back of the aluminum where the Asus logo is and install some plastic cover with an Asus logo on it. I think this could be a DIY, type of thing. Seller ships instructions on how to take backplate off, a template of where exactly to cut out and then have a plastic piece to install it. Or make it simple, and and replace the whole back plate.
If you can make it! Please make it right!! I'm willing to pay $75 if you can make it fiberglass (Gray) as bugatti car

to the best of my knowledge, the antennas are just to the left and right of the FRONT-FACING camera. Yes, front-facing. This is how wifi is even able to work.
I don't know where the GPS antenna is located.

bottom right if im not mistaken saw it on the transformer tear down but im just not in for this too risky to do this to my device, great idea hope it works out for you but just not for me unless it was a clear backing and we threw some LEDS on the side like some red ones then we have a clear back the glows red that i would pay like 100 for
I'm in for $75
Demonstrate that plastic improves receptivity, make it clear, emboss it with XDA so it's a collector's item (like my 2 OG Droids), and I'm in.
Get Samsung to sell it, and I'll give you $100. ;-)
I was thinking like a flat black, but a clear back would look pretty sweet too. Once a Guinea pig or two tried it out, posted pics & real world experience, I might be game

this is actually what they did on the iPad I think. the apple logo on the back is a window for the wifi signal.
on another subject, what do you guys use to see how many satellites your prime can see/connect to?

[Q] What's the Secret to Docking?

Well, I'm feeling a little silly right now, because I did a search and couldn't find anyone else having this problem--so maybe it's just me....
I just bought my Transformer Prime and dock, and am excited about using the two together. However, I'm finding it impossible to join the two.
The instructions say to "insert the eee Pad into the socket until it snaps into place." Well, it doesn't snap; it just sits there precariously, refusing to go in. The instructions also say to "Ensure that the latch completely moves to the right." Is the latch supposed to be moved manually before inserting the tablet, or does "snapping it in place" move the latch automatically? (I tried moving it manually, and was not able to.)
My wife, who is much better at this kind of thing than I, has tried as well, without success.
Are we doing something wrong, or did I buy defective equipment?
Thanks in advance!

Was going to say the same thing. I can almost guarantee that's the problem lol. Easy fix though.

haha, was thinking the same thing. Took me a second to figure out what the hell I was doing wrong.
Thanks!
Wish I could say it only took me a second! But thanks, everyone; it snaps right in now. Would've been nice if the instructions had mentioned them.

It interesting you mentioned this, here is my Docking story. I had got my Prime from a BB store that was 75 miles from my home one week but they didn't have the Dock at that time. When the Dock came available at this BB I drove back and purchased the Dock. I had my Prime with me in my Car and I decided I would try the Dock before I left to go back home. Well I sat in the Car read the little insert that came with the Dock and tired and tired to get the Prime to go into the Dock but it wouldn't go. I looked and saw the "black inserts" on my Prime where the Dock went and though I thought they should be removed I couldn't get them out easily so I then thought well maybe they should stay in place and somehow they just "folded in and out" as needed. So not wanting to screw up my Prime I go back into BB with Dock and Prime go to Geek Squad feeling DUMB than I had to do this and ask them how this worked? Well they have 5 guys look at it and apparently I must have been the 1st person to get a Dock for a Prime at this BB because they had NO CLUE if the inserts should be removed. After about 10 minutes of this I told them I have a XDA account let me log on to your WiFi and let me ask at the forum about this problem. I do that after about a minute I get answer about needing to remove the inserts. They then grab a tool and remove them and the Prime pops right in place. Moral of the story: XDA knows more than "Geek Squad"
