Hello people im a noob i know, but ive searched the entire forum ive read the threads on developmente with [ROM], but i can never download a working rom, what m i doing rong, are you all hiding the roms.
P.s - After following several tutorials i have rooted and installed rom manager and clockworkmod on my viewpad7 so i just cant find any roms to test it, thank you in advance.
Anyone, really i can find the place to download them, i found a link to a paid website, and then it says private, other then that nothing.
Can anyone help me ??
Is that a big secret ?
Im still searching, can someone give me a reliable link ? PLEASE
Welcome, I'm not sure which specific custom ROM for the Vpad7 you are looking for, it would help if you can be spell it out ...
You are aware that newer ones are ITE (multi-touch screen) hardware/firmware based and older/generic/other name-branded ones are non-ITE, and the few Roms developed mostly in 2011 are distinct for each group.
Any and all files, including ROMS, patches and downloads housed on multiupload.com sites have been DOWN and unavailable as those servers have all been offline and shut - for good apparently, as in permanent. (Goggle for what happened, as you obviously are unaware as newbie around here ... as I won't go into details)
The EU V1.7b (ITE verison) is available via my dropbox as OP has been away & will have a new link up shortly - see below & perhaps you will better understood.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1224825&page=31
Another recently posted ROM - KWBR V3.2 based on U.K. ROM (also for ITE) and is available for use, I successfully downloaded it & used it briefly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386469
FlintFire_V1.0 zip download seemed to be available as it's also housed on a DropBox account
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236988
These should be adequate to get started - read, read & read first, then - backup before proceed at your own risk and speed with OP's instructions. Good luck !
Thank you so much for the answer, as for those websites being closed, yes i know whats happening, im not that newbie .
My viewpad is ITE, and i had it rooted and installed clockworkmod, so im not looking for any specific rom, i just want one that would increase the performance and mainly the speed of my vpad7, so what you recommend ?
Still cant really find any usefull link.
Thank you in advance.

I use EU V1.7b ITE ROM as my favorite ROM of choice, developer is back and one of the best around here for the Vpad7.
The CPU has practical limits and hardware cannot be overclocked at this point, performance is optimized AFAIK - YMMV.
Don't know what else to say about it ... Happy searching to you on "any usefull link"
Thank you for all, im finally getting some working links, sucessfully downloaded and still trying kwbr Viewpad 4.0.
Very strange, its installing without asking everything i had before even very old stuff that i had uninstalled long time ago, but i did erase all the cache before loading this ROM, is this normal ?
Never mind, fixed it , i just set everything to factory settings because i noticed the account was not syncing, now i have the ROM kwbr working with the account syncing, im installing whatever i want, everything working fine its even faster.
First thing first, Yes I am a noob. I am trying to learn how to build custom roms. I already created a working rom based off of the UCPLC5 leak. I pretty much just deleted apk files and zipaligned the rom. I am wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help me figure out where to find fix'x and mods such as accurate battery mod or 5ghz wifi fix. Is there a website that I need to look into? I have tried searching google to no avail. I also tried the search here but I am unable to get any ideas.
Thanks in advance.
you're on pretty much the only resource you need.....learn how to search, thats all i can say, because there is no 'directory of mods/fixes'.....

Task did 90% of the work, you just tweaked that base.
Learn to grab the untouched firmware and extract, deodex it then start working from that.
If you are working on a i9100 base, it would be best to check there forum section.
Deodexing and a number of the basic porting fixes are covered in my guide in the Development section.
5 GHz wifi fix doesn't apply to AT&T bases unless AT&T ****ed up on an epic scale, it's only for ported European firmwares. That's covered in the guide too.

More than that....more like 99.5. I wouldn't even call it tweaking yet.

Hi everybody.
I have been having issues with Miui rom performance ever since the ICS release.
I see many ppl commenting @ miui forum how the releases are working perfectly
for them and no problems but for me generaly those few ICS releases have been
nothing but slow laggy and unresponsive.
No other rom behaves like this. Everything works (camera, sms, calling).
I have tried all possible roms, both GB and ICS and none is slow and unresponsive like Miui.
Right now i'm running Checkrom RevoHD V6 becuz i found the battery drain
be the best for my phone and N.E.A.K 1.4.2x kernel.
SlimICS wich is the last ICS rom i had was almost same battery drain as Checkrom
just not as smooth yet.
Anyone experience same issues?
No I don't have any of these problems.
The only problems I have with MIUI are the known bugs or rom specific bugs.
How do you flash?
Are you comming from a stock rom ?

Last time i used it i came from SlimICS 3.2
Stock i havent used for quite a while.
I've always done full wipe wiping system, data, emmc, cache, dalvik-cache and battery stats
and after all those manual wipes i run the Ultimate cleaner script 2.4
I did not have this problem the GB based Miui.
I like the gui of the rom and also battery is excellent with it.
But Lag and stutter is not fun
Thx for the quick reply!
Still same issue with the newest Miui.
Installed a GB rom (Epsilon Project) and it's like night and day.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
But simply puting a question mark at the end of your statement will not make it a Question.
There is a thread in General for discussing V4 MIUI ICS also many other threads are there which port the ICS ROMs also. Bugs & problems of Beta versions should be reported there not here. otherwise use a Stable version (GB).
Reminded, this is a Q&A section.

After seeing a few other threads in this forum section where people post bug & problems i tought it was the right section to post my question.
I'm sorry if i was not clear enough but it is a general question about the rom and how others
who tested it feel like.
Asking in Miui forum might only be seen by users who currently run miui.
Thus i would be missing toughts from users who tested it and experienced same issue and moved on to another rom.
Admins are free to move the thread if i made a mistake.
You can find lot of discussions on V4 in the thread whcih lnked in my post...
Me too waiting for a stable ICS MIUI version.
regards
Zaid
My phone broke and the cost of replacing it with a new one before I'm eligible for an upgrade isn't worth it, so my friend loaned me an HTC Droid Eris until then. It's already rooted apparently, and I'm looking to load a pure, unmodified version of 2.3.7 on it (2.3.5+ is fine too). Or as close as I can possibly get to that, anyway.
Normally I wouldn't bother (I don't need to do much with my phone and I'm hardly a power user), but 2.1 is a little (lot) old at this point. I don't want anything fancy and I don't want Cyanogen. Just a stock, Nexus-esque ROM of Gingerbread and the full, completely functional Google App Suite. That last part is a must. If the ROM doesn't come with them (legalities and what not), that's fine, I just need to know how to get them. I know little to nothing about mobile operating systems, so the plainer the language, the better please.
Thanks for any help you can give.
That may be a little hard if no one has built a pure AOSP ROM for your phone. But what's wrong with CyanogenMod? Since you don't know much about this stuff, maybe you have some misconceptions about it. It's as close to pure Android as you can get, with a whole load of useful features. Android was lacking in a lot of ways till ICS and Jelly Bean. CM really made Gingerbread awesome. Also, for the same reason, CM ROMs are made for a lot of devices rather than AOSP, and most likely yours has a CM ROM for it too.

Well it doesn't have to be ripped directly from a Nexus S or anything, but as close to stock as possible. I have a good friend with Cyanogen and I'm just not a fan of the modifications. The UI alterations, the changes to certain operations and functions, the general ability to do some higher level stuff I don't wanna mess with, etc. I'd really just rather have vanilla if it's physically possible.
I don't need anything CM has that GB doesn't already have, so that's why I've opted for vanilla. I already know there's a stable CM 7.2 release for the Eris, which is nice, but I'd really prefer stock. Thank you for your help, though. I appreciate the quick response
That's quite understandable. The multitude of options and advanced settings can be overwhelming. Unfortunately you're at a loss for choice with your device. There aren't a lot of recent ROMs for it to begin with, and out of those there's only one AOSP Gingerbread ROM (2.3.5 I think) that I can find. The rest are CM10 and CM7 ports, AOSP 2.1 Eclair and 2.2 Froyo, and some stock ROMs. There might be more, but I didn't bother to look as the threads have been inactive for very long. There's no point in flashing ROMs that have been dead for a long time. This one AOSP GB ROM itself is more than a year old since the last update. You can still try it though, and if everything works fine and it's stable, you're good. Otherwise your only real choice for a stable, fully functional ROM is CM7.2.
Here's the ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1040459
Look here for more ROMs for your phone - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=554
You should ask this question in your phone's forum rather than the general Android Q&A, as you'll get more appropriate answers from people who are using the phone themselves.

I apologize for not posting on the Droid Eris boards. I know I should have, but it's basically dead at this point so I didn't think I'd get much of a response, if any. Thank you for that link. I searched those boards but I was having a hard time finding stock ROMs. Mostly just CM 7 stuff and other modified ROMs. I guess vanilla isn't too popular. *Shrug*
I just flashed that ROM and it's telling me I need to also flash Google Apps as well. While I greatly appreciate all your help, that was the one thing I said I really needed to have. Do you know how I would go about doing that? I'm gonna try and look it up now, but if my search for vanilla 2.3 is any indication I may need some help. Thank you again for everything
You can download gapps for any Android version from here - http://goo.im/gapps
If you're confused at all, the right gapps for Gingerbread 2.3.5-2.3.7 is here - http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
You won't need the one with Google Talk video chat add-on as your phone doesn't have a front camera. This package I linked to above is the standard gapps package for CM7 and any Android ROM above 2.3.5. Flash gapps package after flashing the ROM.
The reason for Google apps being packaged separately is that Google didn't want people packaging it with their ROMs. CM initially used to have them packaged till Google asked them to remove their proprietary apps, which include Gmail, Play Store and all the backend apps for syncing data with Google. They weren't okay with them being packaged with ROMs, but they were fine with the apps being packaged as a separate file and flashed after flashing the ROM. Modified HTC Sense stock ROMs come with them included though, because stock includes them.

Also, vanilla AOSP ROMs are very popular now for a lot of devices. They just weren't too popular at the time of Gingerbread other than for Nexus phones.

No idea how I stumbled upon this but I always wondered why it was cool to just host all the apps. I remembered a C&D from Google to CM regarding the apps, but nothing on why they were so freely available. Thanks.
Hi guys,
I might seem like a new member, but I actually lurk the forum all the time, and have flashed and troubleshooted a lot.
Unfortunatly, I cannot post this in the proper forum, cause of my restrictions, so I'll just give it a go here...
Before 4.1.2 stock Sammy was released, I had been using MIUI V4 for a very long time.
Now with the release of MIUI V5 on 4.1.2, I cant wait to actually start using this, but the soft brick bug which people encounter concerns me.
I wanted to ask this in the ASNET MIUI V5 thread, but as I cannot post it in there, I'll just ask a general question here;
Does the ASNET ROM also contain the Russian Roulette Soft Brick Bug? If so, is there anyone that can recommend me a different MIUI V5 ROM?
Perhaps the unofficial AOSP ROM? Or whatever is out there?
I hope some MIUI V5 users can convince me to finally make the switch.
I'd be able to solve the soft brick bug, but the thrills I get when my phone does not boot anymore, is just horrible.
Sometimes I think I'm too independant as a regular flasher.
Remove my thread if I did something wrong, or this question does not belong here.
I've been browsing en.miui.com, miuiandroid and whatsoever for weeks now, and I still cant detect a reliable MIUI V5 ROM..
Im using MIUI v5 myself and I dont experience any problems at all.

started using Miui v5 from official site the day it was released .....damn this rom is pretty and smooth
Rom : MIUI V5
Kernel : HIROX V5 INTENSIVE

Hey i have the same problem. I install miui v5 and use for about 2 weeks. However after that time my phone closed and i could not boot it again. I really want to use this rom but because of that issue i can't use it . Is there any proper solution for this issue??
Bump
I still have this issue, can anyone confirm if it has been fixed or is it just me?
Kernel: SiyahKernel S2-v6.0beta5
MIUI: Official 3.8.9 from the MIUI website
I know I'm using an outdated MIUI version, as the lastest is 3.8.23, so is it something that happens in 3.8.9 and the update will fix it? To be honest, I've had a hard time finding anything related to this matter anyway. It seems to be something exclusive to my phone and a few others.
