I'm used The End : Based on CM 7.2 RC0 KANG by vo-1, and i have a problem. The last rom i used is [ROM] TheMyth KS2 2.3.5 v1.0. theMyth's rom used "App2sd activated (via app2sdgui) + tweak manager" and i have app's in teh ext4 part.
How can i have activated this thing in the end rom?
Sorry for my english.
Thank you.
I've always had some problems with DT's a2sd in CM ROMs. I suggest you check out Link2SD or S2E.
Personally, I'm using Link2SD because:
1. It's installable from the market.
2. Supports ext2, ext3, ext4 and FAT
3. Has very little permissions (meaning that it's not stealing my private data
4. Can freeze and defrost apps easily
5. Batch uninstall and reinstall (without the install prompt)
6. You can choose which apps and which files to move to the SD.
Yes, I recommend Link2SD also, it's easy to use.
I use Link2sd. But need to do a quick reboot every time after the phone booted.
Thank you everybody for reply to my question. I try used your's solutions.

Can somebody cook the rom again with a2sd enabled in it..Or does anyone have any other method to keep app in sdcard 's ext4 ??? i tried it keeps rebooting the phone/UI everytime i try to install an app !!
try link2sd. it's on the market and pretty convenient.
as an alternative i flashed interactive data2sd for void #forever....its working
Man have you tried to install an other version of a2sd?? I had problems too with dt a2sd beta versions on cyanogen mod.. when I try void forever I ll tell you more..

thanx a ton man that did it!!
I use UNgaze a2sd and it is working well
but why ,i have DTa2sd installed with void. #forever ,you should flash immediately after flashing the rom ,so that you have no problems.
Try reinstalling the rom like first void. #forever -> addon ->DTa2sd
Reboots between flashing is also necessary..
hope you get it working soon..
Hit Thanks if you like my post..
not necessary LInk2sd has a feature of automatic linking it ...Well this does keep a service running in the background unlike a2sd
as the friend above said you can use dt a2sd.. i didnot have problems so far.. i managed to restore about 260 apps and move davlik to sd.. i istalled the beta 2 version of dt because the beta 4 made my phone to reboot..
I wanted to install cm7.1 by grif_07 but had to clear some doubts before trying it coz my primary reason for trying a custom rom is to enable apps2sd. otherwise I am happy with the samsung stock rom.
1. is every feature in the stock rom working perfecly especially like camera and video recording?
2. is apps2sd included in this rom? (important)
3. will I loose swype keyboard? but I believe I can restore it from my titanium backup. correct me if I am wrong.
and also I wanted to know is there some easy way to enable apps2sd in stock rom? without using a pc coz I dont have my pc working now
1) If you're looking for stock abilities , stick to stock .
2) No , but can be downloaded

Install manager by Alfred Neumayer from market is the perfect solution for app2sd on stock rom.
Swype needs some library files if I'm not wrong.

isnt it just like the link2sd app which I use now but I think that kind of apps dont move all the app data to sd something remains in the phone memory.

so it cant be restired with titanium backup?
You can try that. But if it doesn't work, download the beta. There was a huge update and I don't think you'll like to stick to the old stock version.
For a2sd functions for cm7 try s2e
Just register in the beta.swype.com site and the swype installer will be sent to your email account so you can download it with your phone, just install it and swype will be downloaded.

at last I figured out how to correctly use link2sd huh...
dont think I need a custom rom now. next step would be some kind of ram optimization script then it will b a perfect droid...
What i have currently:
1.) Stock ROM
2.) CF Root
3.) CF Root dtapp2sd.zip
4.) V6 Supercharger (Memory optimiser)
Everything working beautifully.
Anywhere to get RAM cleaner ?
Hi, umm,
I flashed my ace to cm 7.1 this morning. It runs quite smooth. Although there's 1 thing from the stock ROM i seriously miss - RAM cleaner. I just can't live without it and no application can replace it. I managed to overclock it successfully to 902 MHz (stable) . I'd say CM 7 is awesome, it just needs the Clean RAM option. And if it is somewhere out there, can please some1 tell me where can I find it.
EDIT: 902 MHz isnt stable, just rebooted
Guys , i believe most of you have flash your xt720 to CM 6 , and i'm planning to do so , but this is the very first time i'm flashing a new rom , there is many things that i don't understand , do someone mind to help me out ?
1) i learned that after flashing CM 6 , all SYSTEM APPS will gone ? I know this include google apps and what i have to do is just to flash google pack . But what about some important apps such as usb.apk or packageinstaller.apk ? And what about livewallpaper picker.apk ? All those included in the google pack ?
2) At the xda thread , it was written that camcorder cannot works well , so does this mean camcorder cannot function at all ?
3) What is the cpu frequency (clock speed) for this rom ?
4) Developer mentioned that we need to create sd-ext / link2sd directory so that we can use link2sd . Previously on the original rom i've create sdext2 and store most apps in it , if i switch to CM 6 , is there something else i need to do/create ? Or i can use directly ? I don't really understand what he means by create sd-ext/link2sd directory
5) I've changed the font before , after i flashed , what will happen to the font i apply ? And can i still view chinese / korean / japan words on my phone ?
PLS don't post me a link to the CM 6 thread because i have went and even posted my Q but so far no reply
ANY HELPS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED ! GUYS , IF YOU GUYS UNDERSTAND ACTUALLY WHAT I'M ASKING , PLEASE HELPS ... THANKS !
1. System apps will be included in the ROM. What is missing is gmail, gtalk etc that you have to flash gapps package to get it back. Those apps that you downloaded from market will be lost only. Just download them back.
2. Not functional well = may be not working. But once you get a functional Rom with camera, it will continue to work. The software just broken and not hardware.
3. Should be original clock as your phone unless you overclock it
4. You don't have to Recreate. You just have to flash the file and write the command and it will work. What ext can do is you can store your apk's cache or data completely in SD so that you can install more apps.
5. Every android phone can view every font. You just have to install Chinese keyboard to type Chinese word.

Thanks very much ! Finally a person who answer to my Q . As for point 4 , i have run the command on previous rom and now if i switched to cm6 i still have to rewrite the command ? And what is the file that you said to flash ?
As for overclock , is milestone overclock compatible with the rom ? I used it for my original rom , overclocked to 1000MHz .
Thanks ... really

Take a2sd script. Flash it. Go to terminal emulator, type
Su
A2sd cachesd <<<<<<<< it will move cache to SD
A2sd data2SD <<<<<<<< move data to SD. Not recommended as it will take a long time to boot.
I'm not sure. You should ask your kernel developers.

Hi All,
Can someone help? Want to flash CM7 and from searching the forum I belive it works like this:-
I have installed cwm. Made a backup. Then factory reset/wipe cache. Flash cm7 and fixes from recovery.
This leaves me with a couple of questions:-
Im running 2.3.6 KPP - can i flash over that?
What is the most stable CM7?
How can i convert the file system back if I want to go back to stock?
If all goes wrong will the cwm backup restore firmware or just apps?
Thanks

1. Yes. Compatible with all basebands, supposedly
2. IMO, Grif's CM7. But jusada's Ice Cream Sunday Final/Speed Blur is stable enough for daily use, even though it has its perks.
3. You can restore your backup you just did or flash a stock ROM via Odin.
4. It will restore everything. Literally everything.
Your /system which your previous ROM's settings and apps, /data which has your previous ROM's app data, your /cache which has your cache (who knew?) and other partitions.
Thanks. It seems easy enough. Is there anything not working on grifs / ICS?
On every CM7:
> USB Tether. Because GB AOSP doesn't have USB tethering, and CM7 is based on GB AOSP, you won't have that integrated into the system. You can still download a USB Tethering app, of course
On CM7.2 and ROMs based on it:
> Wireless. It may or may not connect to a specific APN. This is an inconclusive bug since only specific people have it (and there seems to bo no apparent pattern to it). Several speculate it to be in the MODEM part of the Ace.
On ICS (these are not bugs, merely effects of ICS being a barebones ROM)
> No torch
> No live wallpapers
> No DSP Manager
> No Spare Parts or Dev Tools

Hi guys, my father has a Milestone 1 and the dev there has included a new app2sd script on his CM ROM.
I've been using it for quite sometime and it's AWESOME!
It's nice and clean and I haven't found any bugs yet.
The source for this script is here: https://gist.github.com/1244362
Since I'm no dev, I have no idea how to use it on P500. It would be nice to see one of our devs making a flashable zip for us.
This is the ROM using the script: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941346&page=679

You know by any chance if the script has the bootloop problem ungaze and darktremor scripts have? You know what i'm talking about...
And thanks for taking interest into that matter. I and Miasmic were pointing it out for some time. Now that CM7 is almost bugless, that would be the only problem left for our device, a stable a2sd script. If only some dev would take interest in it...

Yeah, I know about these problems, that's why I don't use Darktremor or Ungaze anymore.
This script on Milestone (a very low memory device) is working perfectly.
It made the phone actually a lot faster.
I hope one of the devs see this.

I did not use it. Doesn't it give bootloops if too many apps are installed and moved to sd ext? If you use it try and stress it to its max and report back. Maybe it works, although it doubt it.

It`s not about the time, but the amount of apps moved to sd. For example ungaze lets you move max 2GB (the size of sd ext) but i could only move about 1.2 or 1.3 GB of apps before getting bootloops. Also darktremor only lets you move about 2/3 of the space available on sd ext before getting bootloops.
So please test if link2sd and other apps solved this so we can use that stable one instead of bootloops ones.
It seems the problem is solved with Mount2sd app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342387
"For some reason, the CM Team has come up with this fun idea to place the dalvik cache for all system apps in /cache/dalvik-cache instead of /data/dalvik-cache with the rest of it. This is especially fun when you have a cache size of 5mb, because then there is not enough space to build the dalvik-cache and you end up with these really funny reboot loops. However, if you are some boring person that does not find these reboot loop's fun, you can enable cmdalvik to fix this problem. It will force the dalvik-cache in /cache to be placed in the correct /data path among the rest of the dex files."
