thx. will give Ninphetamine-2.1.3 a try

its possible its how my current setup is
using CF-Root kernel

doesnt seem like Ninphetamine-2.1.3 will support BLN although their thread says it does. i installed BLN Control from Market after i flashed this kernel. did i do something wrong or missed some steps?

If you read the thread, you need a liblights that supports BLN.
Either search for one for your rom, or try this kernel that auto installs liblights if your current one doesnt support BLN, you can always flash back to Ninphetamine afterwards.

cool. learned another terminology
thanks.

[Q] Lite'ning Rom v.5.0 XXKG6 + Nimphetamine 2.0.5

Hello,
I haven't find anything like an instruction for this.
I actually have the Lite'ning Rom 5.0 XXKG6 on my SGS2, but how can I get that special Kernel on that Rom?
And does that "magical" Kernel really make the batterylife better like many people report?
And does that Kernel work good with the Lite'ning Rom?
Doesnt it work?

As far as i know Litening Rom once used Ninphetamin kernel. Dont know if it still does. Ask in the respective thread or try it urself.
ask here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274
urself: Do a backup of ur rom via cwm. Install kernel. See if it works. For kernel install see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179814

How can i use cf-root kernel for cm7?

I flash cf-root kernel in cm7 rc2.2 couldn't start. CF-root kernel is fast、and no lag to screen unlock and gallery3d,I think it's wonderful of using cm7 rom with cf-root kernel.
the failed to boot is obvious, as cfroot isnt meant for cm. also cfroot and current cm7 kernel that most people use is compiled by the same man, ketut. and i'm pretty sure what he did with cfroot also already incorporated in the cm kernel which he also compiled himself.

CF-root => Cyanogen mod
Hello everybody,
There are a few threads that discuss this question, but they all draw a different conclusion.
This one for instance : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256707 (or if the link is broken, search this: [Q] CF-root to ClockworkMod (for cyanogenmod), and non-responsive launcher).
In the thread above they claim that repeating the installation of the .zip file twice, will install CM7 on the device. However, in this very thread , CF-root and CM7 are said to be incompatible. As i want to install CM7 on my device (Samsung Galaxy S2, i know it's different from the ace but the rooting principles are the same), i'd like to know for sure:
Is there a way to install CM7 on a CF-rooted device?
Many thanks
EDIT: Question already answered in the linked thread. Thx anyway

Normally on the first page of a rom thread you will get a description what is the rom. For example MIUI is well MIUI. Hyperdroid is sammy deodex rom with of course modifications and tweaks in the build to make it better than stock.
Sensation rom is sammy deodex no aosp nothing like that. And when you normally look for an AOSP rom it normally would say it in the heading of the thread anyway.
On the kernel thread it has a guide of what roms the kernel works on and which ones it does not. Siyah works basically with any rom. CM7 to AOSP to sammy deodex. Regarding Simone's kernel which is the NEAK version or something like that it is based on only sammy stock deodex roms and that is mainly the ones in original development and android..just look out for deodex, sammy and stock rom
AS above its all a question of reading the info on the first page of the kernel post .
Plus if it does not work flash another one .
the Neak kernel should be ok been on mine for a few days .
Speedmod likewise ok have used it before .
jje
Thanks everyone for their wonderful help!
I have got one last question
Speedmod kernel says "it is only for Samsung Gingerbread ROMs. It will not work with CyanogenMod or MIUI ROMS!"
does this means it will not work with sensation rom?
Edit: ok looks like the different versions are just the updated ones
But still the question is if it supports sensation rom?

Now, if you look at the VERY FIRST page for SensatioN ROM,, it says:
SensatioN ROM Features:
-Based on Samsung Firmware XWKK5 Android 2.3.6
With all of this information, you should be able to deduce that the Speedmod kernel WILL work with your ROM. If you still don't understand, I'm going to suggest you don't flash anything to your phone, for fear of ending up with a paperweight.
Ok this time I understand everything
I didn't knew that Sammy roms means that the ROM is based on Samsung's stock ROM
Also I thought that speedmod only works on stock ROM so all this things got me confused
But anyways now its all clear

[Q] Query : Kernals and Voodoo Louder

Hi...
Greetings all.. Just joined the site today..That was a nice video intro to join
Am from india having this SGS II (GT - I9100) I updated the stock 2.3.3 to 2.3.6 by odin method after using the guidance in xda and rooted it using super user So far so good Now the thing is i searched the forum for 2days relating to this but couldn get any clear idea :
I want Voodoo LOUDER in my mob. I dunno which kernal supports it and whether any kernal has this inbuilt. Also i would be grateful if some1 tells me/ gives link to install such kernal
Btw wats the diff bet ROM and kernal ?
Plz help.. Thanks in adv..
Hi, welcome.
I don't know about every kernel but Voodoo louder definitely works for me on chainfires KK5 cfroot kernel and also on the experimental cm9.
More info can probably be obtained from the voodoo louder thread.
In layman's terms...
Firmware is all the stock software on your device.
A Rom for our purposes is a custom firmware compilation that has been modified in various ways to add or remove functionality. All are different.
A kernel is the basic operating system or brains of the device.
Im sure others will give you a more detailed explanation.
Good luck with it all.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
SiyahKernel supports Vodoo Louder.
^ Yep, Siyah, SpeedMod K19, CF and Stock kernels are supported.
If I can read English right then Supercurio recommended Stock kernel.
Swyping from my GT-I9100 via Tt
I am currently using Siyah kernel latest version and then bought the voodoo Louder app from market. Download siyah and you should be fine. Regarding rom and kernel combination...Not going to tell you as you have to make your own mind regarding what is best....So many roms read have a look and you decide..Always read the first pages and then last ten pages to get a feel what people think of the rom...That way you can make your mind up.
Good luck anyway
Speedmod, NEAK kernel, Siyah, CF-root kernels( dont try it though since you are already rooted) are few kernels that support voodoo...but anyway il keep an eye on this thread to see how you get on

I tried and installed the Voodoo Louder compatibility apk and it says 'Your device has been successfully configured' so that means it will work in mine correct ? I can proceed to buy it ? Or any other way to get it as a trial or free apk ?

what's a kernal?
The kernel in android is the linux kernel, it contains various drivers like the display, camera, bluetooth, wifi etc etc. its sort of the interface between the hw and the sw,
According to the changelog, VLouder should work with any kernel now.
Hi, I have Sensation 2 by Crisis on my SGS2 and Voodoo Louder says that its broken/incompatibile kernel. Can I install another kernel for this rom? I like it much so i dont want to change it :/
Yes but a kernel is going to be not the same but you probably wont notice the difference .
jje
So it doesnt matter if it be NEAK or smth?
Hi, I am from Germany and cant download Voodoo Louder from the market. It is not available in my country.
So is there a possibility to install it anyhow?
Does anyone have the apk file?
I really need this app! Why is it even locked?
Thanks!
Same problem for me. I cant Find IT even with market enabler.

[Q] How do I work out which CF-Root version to install on my CM9?

Firstly, sorry for taking up a Q&A thread; I know you guys don't like people doing this, but I have searched and I can't find the answer. I don't know precisely what to search for, so I could have missed it; please don't flame me if I've missed it by searching with the wrong terms. I would have posted on the thread but I don't have 10 posts.
So I'm running a recent build of CM9 on my SGS2. I wanted to try out CF-Root kernel (since I couldn't get the fancy features of Siyah to work without killing my battery. I know this is my fault not the kernel's, just saying that I'd like to try it when I have time to mess around with settings and features), but I struggled to work out which version to download. Chainfire's thread suggests finding the version to download by looking for 'KI4' (for example) in the Kernel Version. I don't have any such string in my kernel, since I'm running a non-stock kernel. I do, however, have 'LPS' in my baseband version. So I downloaded this version of CF-Root and flashed via Odin, no problems. When I booted the phone, I got an error from com.android.phone crashing continuously. So I just reflashed the CM9 version I was running previously.
I'm sure I've just done something very stupid, but I have tried with wipes and other such things. Could someone lend me a hand? Have I chosen the wrong version? Perhaps CF-Root doesn't work with CM9? I didn't think these could be incompatible, and it didn't specify this on the thread when I searched.
Many many thanks for your help
firstly y do u need a cf root for custum rom an tht too cm9....if ur on stock cf root woprks but if ur not satisfied wiv the cm9 kernel i think siyah ,neak r good options an obiviously don expect a good batt life on custum roms.....i saw good life on hydroginic rom....iam on stock cause i need a stable rom....

Sorry, I should have mentioned this in my first post! I'm looking for a different kernel because I read that cf-root has "ro.secure=1", but keeps root priveleges. I don't think the other kernels offer this, but I could be wrong. Do I take it from your reply that I can't use cf-root with CM9?

Excellent, thanks for your clear reply. I now have a further question; is there a kernel which supports "ro.secure=1" which works with non-stock firmware?
cf root is the closest to the stock lernel actually itslike a stock kernel wiv root, thts y its created for evey diff fw regions,no u cant cf root on any custum rom...

But do you know if any other ROMs have 'ro.secure=1'?
Or alternatively, is there any (relatively) straightforward way to set ro.secure=1? I know that some 'ro' settings can be easily changed, but if I'm correct then ro.secure is set somewhere else so it's harder to edit?
