Does anyone know where the settings are for this?
Every time I connect to my car, either the music app or, now since I installed this other music app, starts automatically.
This is really annoying if say for instance I just want to play Pandora.
I'm on saurom 7.1.
Any help would be very much appreciated as I couldn't seem to find anything about this through the search.

Normally the setting are in the individual program.

This is a major shortcoming of android imho. Try headset button controller from the market.
Which music player ate you using?

Well, originally it was doing it with the standard music app that came with Saurom, I didn't uninstall that or anything, but now that I installed Meridian, it does it with that now.
I couldn't find any settings in meridian for that, but I guess I can check again,I may look in the standard music app's settings as well.

Yeah whenever I connect to my Ford Sync system, my BT audio always starts playing at some random song and usually midway. Rather annoying since my wife's ip4s commands are obeyed perfectly and BT audio waits for her to tell the system what song/album/artist to play.

Anyone managed to find a solution? This is so annoying.
On my Droid X, when I was streaming music via Bluetooth to my car stereo and using Google Navigation, when the girl came on to update my directions, the music would pause temporarily and allow the directions to be heard clearly. On my EVO, I just get a jumbled mess that sounds like she is talking underwater while the music plays. I'm using Poweramp and I really like it (been a fan since the first week I owned the DX) and would prefer not to switch, but I will if that's the issue.
Any suggestions or settings I should try to fiddle with?
Thanks in advance for any help!

i know what you mean but you should be able to clearly hear the navigation over the music. my OG evo would pause the music while the navigator spoke, now it just lowers the volume of the music by a lot and the navigator speaks over the music. i would say if the music is not lowering for you then try a different music app, if you have the same issue, then try a factory reset, or flash a different rom, if you do a factory reset then make sure to clear your google wallet settings.
It was PowerAmp...sucks, because I really like it and I don't really feel like paying for another music player, but the stock "Music" UI sucks and the widget is garbage.
Try WinAmp, it is a great music player. Granted I don't know if you will have the same problem or not but it is free so give it a shot.

It's power amp.. As much as I love it I had to stop using it for this very reason. Went back to stock app and I actually kind of like it.

Thanks for the heads up. I was about to buy it too, but that's a deal breaker for me too. Have you emailed the developer?

Ive been suffering of the same issue for some time now and I just emailed the developer about it. I love poweramp too and I would hate giving it up for anything else.
But, has anyone tried winamp? Those that have, can you provide feedback?

Headed to work, gonna give WinAmp a shot. I'll report back tomorrow.
WinAmp works fine, UI is decent, couldn't find any skins in the Play Store. Anybody tried PlayPro?
Poweramp just got an update this am, ill be heading back on post later today and will test if any improvements were made in that are.
Sent from my htc_jewel using Tapatalk 2
just tried PlayerPro.
A decent group of free skins, widgets and a Digital Sound Processor (equalizer). I keep my music files pretty basic, Artist name and genre...no cover art, album title, track number...etc. PlayerPro added "artwork" based on this small amount of info. Pretty cool.
The only downside verses WinAmp and the stock Music app is the PlayerPro only "quiets" the music for Nav, it doesn't silence it.
Since I'm playing Guinea Pig, any other music players anyone is curious about?

I got that update too...while I was at work and I forgot about it until now...gonna go give it a test.
EDIT: Got caught up by the post-time-limit...tested, doesn't sound "jumbled", but doesn't "quiet" or pause the music...still no help.
I had the same problem with the same combo love poweramp its my only paid app I clicked off beats and viola clear as a bell. The music lowers volume then the directions are spoken and the music returns to normal volume. So if you love poweramp just shut off beats when using navigation

Have you checked your PowerAmp settings?
Go to Settings -> Audio -> Audio Focus.
Make sure both Short Audio Focus Change and Permanent Audio Focus Change is checked. I believe it should be on by default but I've noticed in some cases whenever I flash a new ROM on my original EVO, it's not checked by default and I've had to enable it.
RobertBohannon and wolfpack15, I will give them both a try and see what happens.
Update on PlayerPro and WinAmp:
PlayerPro does the same as PowerAmp, it's just not as severely distorted.
WinAmp is almost perfect, but my head unit will only control track selection if the app is open and on screen.

Hi guys
Getting fed up every time I try to play my music it keeps stopping and I have to keep restarting the music.
I do not have my phone rooted at all.
Does anyone know why it's happening.
Thanks for any help guys

I have this problem as well, I figured it was because all my music was on a Class 2 SD card and the player would stop if the next file didn't load quick enough.
It only plays so much of the song then stops.
But I installed TSF launcher and played the music with no problems at all hmmmmm.
So what's going on?
Sent from my GT-I9300
yes i've experienced that random stop in previous XXALEF.
and no it's not because of the microsd card because i have a class 6 not class 2 as mentioned here. and i've used this microsd full of mp3s in my previous phones.
never experienced it again on XXALF6.
I'm on XXALF2
like I said my phone is not rooted at all.

Did you try a different music player?
Not yet will give it a try
Sent from my GT-I9300
Likely you are experiencing this due to low RAM. If you installed a new launcher and it works fine then the Touchwiz launcher probably uses a lot of RAM causing music to stop.

That just can't be... Proof is here:

I've only ever had this in the past using faulty headphones. Maybe not related to your issue though but never know.

Given up using my phone for music because of this, all music players gave me issues whilst browsing, just listen to the radio now. Crap. I'd try a reboot though, helped me shirt term.
You can always try on another rom (with more RAM free). Or try other headphones just in case
I have had this on a few occasions with the default player .What i discovered was a message flashed up (not persistent notification so probably missed it before) saying no track exists or track not found. Cant recall exactly the message but looking into it realised some tracks were in different formats so basically player couldn't read them so instead of moving to next shuffled track player just stops.
Other thing is some of my music files are in bit of a mess due to importing to SD cards ,phones etc using various apps and methods few wav Flac aac in the mix to.
So just an idea to check your music files with a file manger see everything is in order and which formats though i think default player is meant to play most formats.
Personally i mostly use Poweramp have for few years on devices, like the default player but cant scrobble and prefer widget with no background
I'd say this is a problem with the software. I have had this problem as well. Samsung will need to look into this for sure. If my music gets interrupted at all, i have to kill the process and start it again. I'm not sure if the problem lies in communication between BT, aux jack or what.
Maybe its due to the motion control..Go to settings>Motion>Go to "Turn over to mute/pause" option> Turn it off> Might solve the problem, Not sure!:silly:
Also try turning off "Palm touch to mute/pause" option in "Settings>Motion" itself

Interesting, think you maybe on to something with that palm touch thing, after all I've taken loads of screenshots in my pocket..
After upgrading my phone to ZSALF1 (hong kong bought), this seems to have fixed the problem with the music starting.
Incidentally, I also turned off the motion to capture the screen as I also had taken screenshots in my pocket. Annoying.
Cheers
OK...since moving to Jelly Bean (multiple ROM's tested) one thing that is a CONSTANT failure is music apps. Whether its Apollo, JetAudio, Rocket Player, PowerAMP, Google Music, etc they ALL crash or simply won't start/play music at all.
All my music is MP3 format so its not a compatibility issue. It happens on multiple Jelly Bean ROM's so that doesn't seem to be the issue either.
Thought it might be a issue with my SD card but everything else on it works fine (including movies and games) and putting music on the internal storage brings the same results.
I'm just at a loss here...first my GPS doesn't work (on Straight Talk...still haven't fixed this) and now not even my music will work? I'm starting to think my Note is screwy...but these are honestly the only issues I've had so far.
If anyone knows anything just let me know, thanks!
I had to go back to an ICS ROM to get Google music to work.

Were other music apps behaving badly as well or was it just Google Music?
Well, I pulled the battery and reinstalled PowerAMP and it seems to work fine now.
I guess I gotta get used to the fact that Android/Note/Jelly Bean is like BlackBerry where to fix a problem you just have to pull the plug and restart!

I was running CM10 and had a running app that announces the distance every mile. Once the first announcement was made all other music apps would no longer work ( mort player and poweramp) . Had to reboot to get things going again.
I went back to ICS because of too many bugs..

Have you tried going into settings/apps/currently running... and do a force close of any music app that's running? You may have to hit close more than once. That works for me

Now I know there are dozens of other posts stating that MP3's are not working, and yes I have googled and (xda'd?) it. But none so far have fix my problem. So the other day, when I downloaded an MP3 onto my phone, it wouldn't play. It was all fine and dandy until I realized that none of my MP3's would play. So from there, I tried a variety of common methods to try to fix this mess. I tried clearing the cache, formatted my sd card, deleted and transferred my music onto the phone (by the way, the MP3's DO work, I popped the sd into my cousins phone and my computer and they worked fine.), and factory reset. But for some reason, my ringtones still worked. That's when I realized that only MP3's under a a minute would play while others would not. So my question is how come my phone will only play MP3 files under a minute and how can I fix this? Please and thank you and I apologize if I broke any rules (I think I broke any from the video I just watched )
I'm on 4.1.2 Padawan ROM if it's relevant.
[EDIT] Well this may sound strange but I think it was my battery because I just switched batteries and now everything is working fine (except for occasional screen flickering but that's the result of 3rd party batteries (-_-#))
Have you tried a factory reset? I use MP3 files all the time. Even stream them via BT in my car to the stereo. Plays the entire song with no issues.

My Guess is its the rom you're using. Try a different rom. Some roms do strange things. factory reset wont touch the rom, and if your problem is still there its your best shot.
It's definitely not the rom because I had the rom for a while and the mp3 function worked for a while. It's just after I downloaded an mp3 file it stopped working

do you have a backup to revert to from when you installed the rom?
Well it definitely is not the rom at this point because it managed to survive CM10, oddly enough my ringtones which are actually longer than a minute still play. Is my music corrupted for only my phone?

U can rule it out ifu want but if it were me id try flashing a diff rom and see what happens. It doesnt hurt to try. If the mp3s work in other phones its obviously a software issue with your phone whether its your music app or something else. Try downloading a diff app to play your music and see if that works.

Maybe I was a bit vague, when I said "it survived", I meant the glitches. BTW Late response, but I stream MP3's over bluetooth as well, an A2DP headset to be exact.
