no not the start up boot animation..I meant is the animation when you turn off the phone..i saw some roms (or kernel) support this..i don't know

I'll bump your thread so I don't make another...
Trying to do this myself as well, any idea where to stick the file?
Running UnNamed though if it makes a difference.

I've read somewhere (But not on Galaxy S II) that they just put in in /system/media and I've tried this one and didn't work.
I wanted to try some of the downanimations as well, looks cool but may affect battery life..I don't know.

It shouldn't effect battery life and I saw probably the same threads you did.
Been tweaking my friends Galaxy S and it has it and that's when I wanted one.
What do we name it though?

I think it's named downanimation.zip but it did not work for me. I saw some roms that has a shutdown folder under system/media/shutdown..never tried it though.

I have tried a dozen different methods describe in a few searches, nothing works on UnNamed.
Illusion has it on his rom, I tried copying the file over and it did nothing so apparently its not as easy as sticking the file in that /media folder.
Might want to message NEO and ask.

Please do cause i already have cool shutdown animation. I've tried putting a folder named shutdown on /system/medisa but didn't work

Shutdown animation

OK, everyone talks about bootanimations but is it also possible to edit the power off animation?
(I have also a great idea for that! The crt screen off animation from gingerbread, but then as shut down animation!
Like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqeq01tpQek&feature=youtube_gdata_player. But then more gingerbread like... )
I don't think so, or maybe but you would have to edit a .qmg file or something. Which we can't edit cause we dont have the right software.

Also i'm checking some threads for this cause i don't want like the stock samsung shutdown animation...

Placing the zip file in the correct location should've replaced the AT&T one. You have to be running the version of Entropy's kernel that supports boot animations as well. It won't work otherwise.

I'm running Cyanogenmod 7 and it works fine on there as well.
From the .zip file you download (Biosboot.zip), extract the contents, go into the system folder, go into the media folder, and you should see bootanimation.zip.
Take that file and put it on the root of your MicroSD card.
Open the terminal emulator.
You'll need root access to execute the necessary commands:
su
mv /system/media/bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip.bak
cp /mnt/emmc/bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
Note:the second line is NOT required, but I wanted to backup the default Cyanogenmod7 boot animation in case I ever decide to revert back.
This is sweet!!! Thanks!
Added zip with sounds as well.

/system/media gets wiped when you flash a new ROM. /data/local does not, unless you do a full wipe.
You can put it in either location (that's what she said ), it just depends how "permanent" you want it.

Guess we'll just have to wait till someone ports it to our Note.

Instructions are simple:
"replace original SamsungCamera.apk in system\app\ with this one using e.g. “Root explorer” or something… You need a rooted Device!"
Since it's just an apk, there shouldn't any harm in just testing it out -- just be sure to make a nandroid backup and be prepared to use adb to push the original SamsungCamera.apk back to /system/app if it causes any sort of bootloop/fails.
My suspicion is that it does rely on some of the S3's unique framework or lib files, and the camera hardware itself is also different, so it probably won't "just work"... but ya never know! lol
I also posted on HyperX's site to see if he has any interest in getting it ported to our i717...
