Hey everyone,
Here's my query to the Android gurus..
In my company, there are specific ports enabled to go out/in to the outside internet. I want to use my Android device and connect to the Android Market.
I can connect to the corporate wifi and by using ProxyDroid, use the corporate proxy to connect to internet sites like google and others. But, it doesn't let me open Android Market. When I launches it, I get the message "No Connection.."
Do we have a software or other ability to bypass this limitation ?
I have Galaxy Nexus running 4.0.3 I9250UGKK7 rooted device with kernet [email protected] #194..... (wow...thats a long one).
Any help/direction will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

The title basically says it all. I already have an ubuntu server at home that I can ping. From outside my home network.
Basically I need too know what program I need to setup on my machine so I can securely tunnel all my network traffic through my server.
I would like to use the native android vpn settings, however I have SSHTunnel on my rooted gingerbread phone so I can use that as well.
Lastly, I am aware that I can purchase a VPN service. I just want to do this for the learning experience.
Configure Open VPN on your Operating system then download the open vpn client on your phone from Android market. The traffic will be routed then through your desired server. I think this is he way through which you can diversify the traffic from your server to android phone.
That really hit the spot! Thanks for the help!
Also, for everyone else who doesn't want to setup their own server there is also the app by the Tor Project.

Hello Everyone,
The company I work for is currently in the process of buying a set of the Motorola Admiral PTT (Push to Talk) phones from sprint for our employees. However we don't want them using the phones for personal use. So is there a way to block them from accessing the market (play store) or to block the installation of apps. Essentially, does android have any administrative features like what I just suggested.
Also, is there a way to block the internet browser. We don't want to turn off the internet but to prevent them from browsing the internet on the phone but still have access to other internet using apps like google maps or the gps navigation.
Thanks for any help,
Mike
Looking for some opinions/advice regarding my security/privacy needs:
A way to prevent MITM attacks when using public wifi points.
A way to prevent Android from phoning home with who knows what kind of info about me.
A way to prevent apps from stealing my info / tracking my movements and usage.
With regards to #1 I think I can do that by using a VPN. Question is which is better - flashing a rom like CYM 9 which has OpenVPN pre-installed - or I believe Entropy's kernel will allow us to use the OpenVPN app that is on the Market???
#2 - I originally thought that a VPN would work here too - Android still phone's home but with a fake IP. Problem is that Android will auto-connect before the VPN does. If we had a firewall app with profiles we could solve that problem but no luck so far. Next, I'm thinking that the PDroid app might solve this problem now that we have deodexed roms that will allow us to use PDroid. Possible issue here is that from what I can tell there are sometimes many Android parts grouped together into one ID so when you turn off network access for one you turn it off for all?? Last I'm wondering (I have never used custom ROM's before) if ROM's such as CYM 9 have already gotten rid of all the "phone Home" problems and therefore we don't need to worry about it at all if we use one of these ROM's???
#3 I think a combination of PDroid and a firewall will solve this issue.
Your help would be greatly appreciated!!
I'm looking to run a VPN server on my Android device so that I can set up a virtual network adapter on my PC to connect to the same network as my Android's wifi. I've seen plenty of Android VPN clients, but no server software.
Is there any software out there to run a VPN server on an android device?
I've heard OpenSSH runs an L2/L3 VPN, but I everything I can find on getting OpenSSH running on Android is all about ftp, and they usually wind up running an alternative. Is there a release of OpenSSH I can use on android for the purpose stated?
Thanks for your patience and support,

I've ssh into my droid phone without a problem using SSHDroid. I'm also looking for how to setup a vpn server(vpnd) on the same droid phone. It might make it simpler for some work I do that requires access to the static ip address I have at home.
I may go with the following solution instead. blog.gidley.co.uk/2009/03/tunnelling-ssh-over-socks-proxy.html
If you're still looking, we just released Servers Ultimate from which the latest update (today) allows you also to run a VPN Server!
Have a look at the thread and let me know what you think of it! You do need a rooted ARM device to get it working (most devices are arm and if you think about a vpn server you're probably also rooted )

i want some help in building an adblock app. I need to intercept all requests using vpn to local a vpn server.
Hello,
I have a Motorola Moto G dual sim which I bought in the US. The phone is not rooted but all the aps and everything works well except the fact that now I am in China and this phone does not support the local 3g or 4g(it doesn't have 4G anyway). I only get Edge connection. Due to this fact I decided to buy a local phone that has dual sim and chinese 4G. I got myself a Vivo Y27 with and android 4.4 and a local Funtouch ROM. The phone is fast and very good but, there is always a but; Google play has been banned in China and all the phones made for the chinese market have this restriction. The restriction does not apply to «blocking websites or app» as with a good VPN service I can access them. The restriction is most probably built in the ROM. I have been able to download Google play but the application won’t start. I get the message that this application has been prohibited. Some applications I am not even able to download, even through a VPN.
All my apps that are useful rely on google services, so even if the services are «blocked» I can use them through a VPN. I do use them on my MotoG but because of the lack of faster connection it is almost useless unless I am on wifi.
How can this problem be solved? Any suggestion? Will rooting the Vivo and then replacing Funtouch with another ROM solve the problem?
I´ve searched all the android forums regarding rooting this device but I haven´t been able to find it anywhere. Unfortunately I do not read chinese and when I talk to people here I get the information that Google has been prohibited since last mid year(august/september 2014)
Anybody can help me or point me in the right direction?
The way it is now this phone is useless for me as I need it to pair with all the services I subscribe.
Anyone? please?
