Need a little help
Has anyone manage to get the action bar semi transparent
Ive tried many different methods with no joy.
Maybe an xml edit.
If anyone would like to help or just see it done add a comment.
Must be difficult! surprised no one has managed it. With all the awsome devs about!

do you mean de navigationbar at the bottem of the screen?
if so
i think(didnt take a look)
u got to decompile the systemUI.apk
and go to Layout
and search for statusbar or something like that
and search for the line
Android:background: #12438953( or something like that ) and make it
Android:background: #bb00000 for a bit transparent look

I need to get the black behind transparent! then Edit the png from systemui with photoshop!

well I made it transparent is the good news... the bad news is that the wallpaper dont display behind it.. and u got some screwed up overlapping going on over on the right

Thank You for the effort mate! i had this trouble back in the HD2 Days!
Only a live wallpaper would fit behind the bar! and had to find and edit the pngs to stop the date overlaping in the top corner! when you draged down the notifications.

Hi there, after we've got root, we can finally customize our devices!
I've started creating a new (or better to say, editting default) theme. I'm not going to create a fully custom shiny theme with custom widgets design and so on. I just want to get rid of that ugly SE clinic-blue.
I don't have much free time, but i'm going to keep moving to the end )
Now it's about 40-50% ready. There are still a lot of blue, but it's usable. You can try it (as always, at your own risk )) ).
Just put the framework-res.apk into /system/framework/
P.S. I had to recover my device after i've putted framework-res.apk on it for the first time. I think, permissions must be changed to 755 before rebooting. After recover I always change permissions and have no problems )
(one more time: root is needed).

Is it possibile to have an .apk "grey theme" file with blu original color as background of notification bar? (only this).

It seems to be ok now. There is minimum of blue, but it comes not from framework-res file. I'll try to fix it later.
Off-topic question. how do you get the 4 shortcuts in you dock, I can only seem to get 2?

Ok, I am done pulling my hair out so maybe I can pay someone else to do this for me lol.
I want a Transparent Status Bar exlcluding the Clock / Battery .. All I want is Notificatons on left hand side and Signal/Wifi on the right hand side.
I have been trying to change framework to make it work but however all I can manage to do is either make it completely dissapear or change the color. I thought that I could atleast hide the notifications by making the battery and clock display transparent but when I do that it off centers the wifi/signal bars and just doesn't look right.
I however have not been succesfull at making the Bar itself transparent.
So, to sum it up. I will pay for someone to do this for me or willing to accept any and all pointers on how to accomplish this myself.
Systemui controls expanded status bar and everything except the battery. In systemui goto res/layout/ you can set dip of items to say 0.9999999 to hide it. Also colors.xml in res/values/

Ill look into it but I heard the transparent bar doesnt work on the home screen of TouchWiz so this may be your issue. I am looking to remove the AM/PM as in ICS so I can probably test this too.

The OP's sig says skyrocket, I believe that is what he is referring to. If you figure out the AM/PM thing that'd be awesome! I've been trying but no dice at the moment, it seems the usual files that are changed have been moved...

Sorry bout my signature. I did have the Skyrocket for a few days but took it back due to it being a major annoyance. The new APN's they use for the LTE Data plan is stupid and gave me more data issues then I care to touch on.

I played with Launcher 7 and its statusbar replacement but couldnt get it to work right after pulling things apart so trashed that project. I dug into some MIUI Framework but I can't even start to compare what they changed.
Is there a way to replace the StatusBar.apk from system with a customized version without it breaking somehting else.

Just what a quick google search brought up
The problem with WP7 bar is it is just overlay and doesnt actually replace the stock status bar and it actually uses a bit of battery. This is the reason I want the stock status bar modified.

If I were you...I would flash MIUI, then d/l extended mod settings, flash it and you can swich the statusbar layout and it will be transparent....if your sold on having touchwiz i dont think it is going to happen for u. Everytime i tried i could never get it transparent. So im on miui....plenty of great themes too.

I don't like MIUI. I don't know what it is I end up doing but I always have terrible battery life and it just seems buggy.

Yea, I always seem to have to do a lot of tweaking to get MIUI to my liking as well, but once i do its dope. I'm sure there is a way I just haven't figured it out yet.....When you do make sure you hit me up !
There is this theme writer on the i-9100 side that has made some but every time i flashed to a hellraised criskelo rom it was a no go i got nothin but he might have some answers just a though.

Yeah, I am comparing the i9100 statusbar.apk for the change to the i777 version we have. I am sure I will find it eventually but was hoping someone with some in-depth theming experience would know the answer lol.

Have been looking around, but I cant find out how.
I'm using Foxhound 1.5, which it my favorite, but I hate the transparent statusbar.
When dragging it down, the icons in the back is too visible, which is not how i like it.
Anybody know how to do it or have a link for a mod with a black statusbar?

Ok, so I tried to black out my statusbar,which worked fine on 4.1.1, but now that I'm on 4.1.2 I cant get it to work.
Using Foxhound 1.6 now, and was on 1.4 when everything worked
Have been trying themes from motomoto and raubkatze, but everytime I use a theme that may black out my statusbar I get no theme or SystemUI FCs.
The actual theme and everything else works fine, but the statusbar will not get black.
Has also flashed a theme that contains a black statusbar, but its still transparent
Anyone got a clue?
EDIT: Never mind.. Figured it out!

Oh I'm not sure why it would still look like s5. Maybe not much of a difference. If you really don't like the look AL_IRAQI has spent a bunch of time making some really awesome themes for us. Check them out m8

You got to remember this is just a beta so some work has got to be done
Changelog:
Changed the quick settings icons to red instead of white
Removed yoshi background from settings because you can't really see anything
Changed the signal, WiFi and battery icon
Changed the home screen icons, and folders
Changed the theme name from "basic theme" to "excellent theme"

This theme is looking like if a 10 years old did it.
Why the bright colors, with no match to other aesthetic UI elements? Wanna make a theme? Have some inspiration from other themes. You've to keep a consistent UI through the whole theme.

Well I don't do a lot of theme development and its my first time doing it, and I'm still getting used to it so once I get used to it I'll try and do a better theme

Try settings and all backgrounds of 'arc dark' colour and accent colour of 'cyan' colour.
Primary colour of dark 'blue grey' colour.
Make status bar as you like.
I think the theme is gonna look cool.
Try it and post here.
If possible add aosp icons every where like settings and status bar and quick settings.

No, arc dark is something like blue see the pallette.
It is a full material setup.
