2.open your favorite Root file explorer
3.navigate to /data/local
4.copy or move the downloaded bootanimation.zip to /data/local thank you dallas.maverick for info on easier install method
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
if you encounter random reboot after applying boot animation:
6. FIX PERMISSION USING ROM MANAGER, Terminal, or through Root File Browser to r-x w-x e-x all accounts
As I stated, I will try to bring you higher quality tablet optimized boot animation as my time permits, so If you have any suggestions, let me know
Enjoy!
Damn man. That's really tight!
Thanks man. Spent like 3 days trying to figure out how to compress the frames without losing quality. Think I have it dialed in now.
I'll put up an optimized ICS boot animation tonight since the original is little grainy and bright.

Just a suggestion, in my opinion, its better to place the bootanimation.zip in /data/local/. That ROM will first attempt to read from there, if it can't find anything, it picks up the zip file from /system/.....You don't need to mount /system and can just delete the animation.zip if you don't like it. Automatically revert back to default. This approach should work great if you are testing to come up with that perfect bootanimation.zip.

lol, my bad.
Im getting a feedback saying it loads portrait on CM9..
can anybody out there running cm9 confirm this please?
I just did my own boot animation (which will be moved here when a Mod reads the report), and I can personally say that CM9 loads my boot animation in LANDSCAPE mode (it should be in portrait). So if it's an animation that should be taller than it is wide, it loads wider than it is tall.

thats just bizzare.. I just unpacked cm9 to check their boot ani, and its packed and oriented normally..
do I need to edit the resolution also??? since I do all my animation in landscape ill just have to re-orientate which is not bad

Since I figured out wtf was going on with the boot animation on CM9. I have made the modifications and uploaded ICS versions of the animation.
if you are on CM9 or any other ICS builds, please download and apply the ICS version.

Just wondering if the "fix permission from ROM Manager in case of random reboots" is really needed. I never encountered any issues, I just place the file as is in /data/local. Did anyone run into reboots? If not, we can probably remove it from OP. I just got a PM by a user who wasn't clear about the permissions part in the steps, for now, I told him he can skip it.
Also, maybe it's jut me but I can't do fix permissions from ROM Manager anymore anyways in CM9 or in Classicnerd. If it is indeed an issue, the steps may throw off more people on ICS.

Hi guys, this is the bootanimation that I resized for Wildfire.
[VERSION 1]
Original created & Designed and Packed by and credit goes thermanlee and jlbmgrnr for Vibrant.
"Hilarious & Cool Bootscreen: Android Vs Apple Lol" By and credit goes to charlieb620 [Resized for nexus s] >> I use this and resized for wildfire.
This (attatchment) will fit your Wildfire screen resolution perfectly which is 240X320.
Want to make yourself an awesome custom animation, check it out here.
(NOTE: For some reasons, I made a flashable zip via recovery. You can flash that one in recovery it will playing at original speed which is 24fps. The location I put it in is system/media. It will work for CM7)
PLEASE FLASH RECOVERY_BOOTANIMATION.ZIP BY USING RECOVERY
(NOTE1: For another reason, I made a bootanimation zip. the playing speed is 15fps. Some ROM's bootanimation not in media. You can paste it in data/local for ROM like wildpuzzle. You will feel the speed is like a bit slower cause it doesnt support 24fps. I dont think you want a animation working that fast for your phone because the animation is quite short.
PLEASE COPY AND PASTE BOOTANIMATION.ZIP VIA ROOT EXPLORER INTO DATA/LOCAL)

(This is 240X320, 15fps. The website didn't support 24fps so i cant make it faster)

Just letting you know.
It installed fine for me.
Make sure to delete/rename/move your original boot animation from the directory (mine was data/local/bootanimation.zip) before copying the new one. Also be sure to check that your ROM uses the bootanimation.zip format for the boot animation. I'm not sure if all do.
So I copy the new boot file file in my folder / system / media DA I copy the new zip in, and before deleting the old file bootanimation.zip.
then in recovery mode install, it does not work anyway ...

What are you trying to install in Recovery? It is not a flashable ZIP. Simply place in /system/media for CM and /data/local for other ROM's using a compatible File Manager (like Root Explorer).
And, if that doesnt work (It didnt for me, always got "Out of Memory" Errors), use ADB.
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media
or
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
as per your ROM
I use CM7 rc2 and have them in the media folder but it does not work ...
and what file for ADB: C?
Guys, did you read clearly??
Put it in data/local.. don't delete old one in media... use root explorer to paste it...

if you guys want i'll make a flashable zip for system/media, system/customize/resource and /data/local.

This boot animation has a comparatively longer period. So if you are in cm7 or miui, you can experience only a portion of it. Best viewed in Sense Roms.
Now added the background music, so it's much better now.......If you are using any Virtuous Roms (including the latest), use the sense 3.0 version.
Download the Version based on your Rom
Sense 3.0 based Rom - Portrait , Landscape
Sense 3.5 based Rom - Portrait , Landscape
CynogenMod based Rom - Portrait , Landscape
The MIUI version is here. Use this link. This is a .mtz file so just run it, it will do the rest.
Make sure you have you have sufficient space in /system folder, before you start with the procedure.
Procedure to install via CWM Recovery
1. Download the Flashable zip file from the above list.
2. Do a Nandroid Backup.
3. Reboot into Recovery & Flash the zip.
4. Now reboot & enjoy........
Nice.. i've got to get that game...

Just a few Queries
Guys, I just want to know a few things from you.....
Is the file too big for you or can you afford it?
Can you complete the animation before your phone booted up?
Do you feel the animation is sluggish at any point?
Are you satisfied with the picture quality?
Your suggestions will definitely help to improve my work........
The flashable versions are ready & will be uploaded once I am satisfied with your responses......
I'm running cm7, so I have enough space in system. With a sense 3.0 rom I had a 70mb bootanimation.
It was sluggish at times, and saw the video for like maybe 8 - 10 seconds. How long is the video?

Any chance of a v for vendetta boot ani, sorry getting off topic. Btw the mw3 looks like it's being squeezed to fit the screen. if it was like how the real trailer looks like on our phone, it'll be perfect.
If I helped, give thanks( via the button )

You are right, it will look perfect in the landscape mode. I made my first version like that.
But, i then thought most people will not like the idea of viewing the boot animation in landscape. So i Choose the portrait mode.
I extracted it from a 720p video. It may seem to be squeezed, but it was a hectic job to write the conversion script.

See post 2 for instructions to install on your ROM.[/SIZE] If you have any problems, see this thread to get some assistance. Ask me if you cannot download any of the files for any reason.
This is a work in progress and will be updated regularly. If you have a boot animation that you have confirmed to work, please PM me or comment below so we can get it on this page. Those who have created these animations or provided them for us, including myself, are not responsible for what happens to your phone. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I do not take credit for creating any of these animations (except for Crysis 2 and Iron Man).
If you try one of these boot animations and it works, please comment and say so and say which ROM you are using. If you are a developer and know where these should go in your ROM, please let me know. Also, if you know who created these, I would love to put their name next to the file to give credit.
Rom-Addict for all of his help (don't even think he has a Rez and he still helps.)

MrSmith317 for ROM compatibility and flashable help.
Marine6680 for the idea of creating a separate thread for these boot animations.
The creators of these animations for our use.

I would also love to add plenty more. These are all ones that I already had or were given to me by Rom-Addict (thanks again, brother). It would be cool if we could all get together and build up an awesome list for everyone to use. If you have one that is not the correct resolution, just send it my way. I've been working with Rom-Addict and I think he's got the issue with BAMF figured out, having something to do with folder structure, we're working on it via pm's and definitely have some progress

It seems to have everything to do with folder structure from what I can gather by looking at Rom-Addict's changes so far but we'll see shortly, he's already got one that's up and working for me on reboots in addition to power offs but now we have to fix the image resolution. If that works then we are home free
Just realized this should probably be in development. Could a moderator perhaps move this thread into development? If it should stay here, that's all good.
Tried putting the file there and rename it and it didn't work. Also tried to edit the path to system/media and didn't work

Once we get BAMF figured out as we were doing via pm's I'm pretty positive everything will fall in line as most ROM's with the exception of a few don't change the basic structure of how the boot animations are working.

Thanks, Scrosler. Phantom and Rom-Addict are hashing out BAMF and should be able to get these working on all of the ROMs. The issue isn't with the boot animation, necessarily. It's mainly about the file location and what to call it. We'll get this worked out and I'll make sure everything is updated.

Yeah, no sounds on these. From what I understand, our phone won't even do boot animation sounds. Could be wrong.

hmm thats strange, maybe try redownloading and reapplying the animation or you could try and put it in the system->media folder.
Also for anyone else that is following my thread, I will have atleast two more boot animations up and atleast one other moboot theme.

Neither of your suggestions made any difference.
I've tried another 2 different boot animation files from the Rootzwiki forums and they also appear with the wrong orientation so it looks like it's a problem with my Touchpad and not your file.
I'm using your Moboot file and it's working perfectly and the latest version of Moboot itself (0.3.5)
EDIT A reinstall of CM solved my problem - All working as expected.
Added three new Touchpad Optimized boot animations, and another Moboot Theme. All made by me. Hope you guys like them.
I like the first one. Pretty sickk! Nice work

Strange thing, when I try to install the explosion zip from CWM, it says installation aborted at the end and doesn't change the boot. I have successfully flashed a number of other boot animations.
Any ideas?

INSTRUCTIONS
Simple as can be. Flash the (CWM Flashable).zip file through CWMR and reboot.
Thanks me so I know if you guys love it! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________
TROUBLESHOOTING
If the flashable zip was unsuccessful, you may manually overwrite the current boot animation with the bootanimation.zip file that is provided under the BOOTANIMATION.ZIP DOWNLOADS section with any root explorer like ES File Explorer via Play Store. Replace the current bootanimation.zip file under /system/media with (your desire custom bootani selection) bootanimation.zip file then reboot to see results. If issues persist (no loop, no animation, etc), it could be that your ROM is not compatible for custom animation. Thank you!
This MIGHT help as a last resort. More in-depth with the manual installation.
USE Ryrzy's Kernel, which enables bootanimation. Thread can be found here.

Haha glad you like it! Well considering the boot time, the animation will loop till your OS is done loading. So therefor, extending the boot time has to be edited. But I think you rather have a faster boot time. (;
loop time seem to be too short in preview, no ?!? perhaps extend the time of end of loop scene will be fine !?!

The animation is 5 seconds, but will loop, making it proximity 10-15 seconds depending on boot time.

Thanks for the reply.
For some reason it won't loop for me. The screen is blank after it runs once. The default task14 would loop and generally took 25 or 30 seconds before the OS loaded.

You may try by overwriting the current one with the bootanimation.zip in /system/media -- yet I'm not sure how it would turn out, due to different resolution with each device. But if it works fairly well, please report the results! Thanks!
Hi jtdo, are you taking orders for customized bootanimations? I like the Evolve, but I would like to have it customized for my Ganbarou ROM. Unfortunately my graphic skills are very bad and I need some help.
My idea is to replace the GalaxyTab logo with my ROM name.
