Anyone tried this? On an Active? Just curious.

Wanted to give it a try this but do not understand how and what needs to be done.
Whether this works on CM, or just to stock rom?

Same goes to me, i would really like to try it but i can not understand much of the second part of the post "How to this sense and the rest of it" he somehow managed to invent new kind of hybrid languange (bahasa indonesia + english) maybe sorry. I think google translate is the culprit. I do speak malay which is not really much different from indonesian but i can't get what he is trying to explain. I hope he can explain better.

Gan, scripts2 utk apa ya? A bit lazy to see araund what is inside them. but i can see some scripts for system mounting, zip align etc.
Copied all the files to init.d folder and permission reverted back to rwxrwxrwx by itself every reboot. I guess no need to change the permission after all once you copy it over to init.d folder?

Any chance this would work on the Xperia Play as well?
Or is it optimized only for the mentioned ones?

Make dis fo' Xperia X8. Xperia X8's battery lasts like 1 day max.

Hi,
Sounds good. Any chance to work on Galaxy S 2 (I-9100)?
Cheers!

Hi there,
thanks for Posting this.
I when through your init.d script and wow u have a lot of em...as for the battery part, i see you commented 2 lines..
echo "500" > /proc/sys/vm/dirty_expire_centisecs
echo "1000" > /proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_centisecs
* for those of you wants an alternative way to do this,
1) just create a new .txt file with your favorite notepad and copy this code
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
#battery saving vm parameters
echo "500" > /proc/sys/vm/dirty_expire_centisecs
echo "1000" > /proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_centisecs
2)rename it to whatever u like and remove the ".txt"
eg; correct way 20batterysaver
wrong way 20batterysaver.txt
3) adb push to system/etc/init.d
and set permission to as stated by the OP
and easier alternative is to use root explorer.
u can check wether it is right or wrong by using adb
Code:
cat /proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_centisecs
cat /proc/sys/vm/dirty_expire_centisecs
hope that helps...a simple thank you will do..=P
im sure it will work on most devices as im using this on my O2x too..
but im abit curious bout the extreme parameters eg. vm heapsize set to 72m in other scripts.. i Think that is a little too much. and also, the 20sick script wipes cache and dalvik cache everytime the device reboots. this will take an awful lot of time to reboot and i think it beats the purpose.
Others might wanna pick the scripts listed wisely if they do. its only my humble opinion anyway. please do correct me if im wrong cos im no android expert. Just sharing my take on it. and dont forget to thank the OP
regards

Sorry but most files in this init.d folder are crap.
01sysctl makes no sense as it reloads sysctl settings but none were changed ^^
05modules will do nothing as there is no ipv6 module ^^
06mountdl will fail as there is no /mnt/emmc _._ (silly mounting heh? explanations?)
07internalsd will look if /data/sdcard exists (in most cases it DOES NOT) and erase all contents in it and recreate it (oO wooot why? but as I said this folder does not exist unless you created it)
08internetspeedtweaks also does not save battery and maybe slow you internet... changing these values is very very dependent of network capacity. This values only have effect when tested in labors or ba mass people. keep them default is better...
09misckerneltweaks are the same like the 08one... keep that default may be better. maybe the setting won't work and thus won't have effect...
10batterytweaks won't work like 08 and 09 because of missing shebang line but contains values that MAY have effect on battery but they also can do the opposite or have no effect ^^ see comment from vesparados150.
ah sorry guys I don't want to go further this is enough research for me... but I don't trust this package. Sorry Alifdroid with respect to you effort but I don't think you haven't spent much work in it. It looks like a copy and paste work frickled together form different forums and threads of different devices. I won't blame you so feel free to tell us what you did or what you are planning to do (updating, optimizing). But current state of this is unusable.
Warm regards,
snoopo

I can imagine that the new app itself could be the first step for some other automate apps. I suggest to make it open source.
Or, if that is not an option, please allow it to add some kind of plugin that could be added by other developers. Like adding some other function.
I am no big developer, but I think that could be usefull for them
the [add_text] function should be avaiable to select where to add the text, instead of adding it on the end.
alow me to suggest a [search_and_replace] function.
That would be really usefull!
As an exmple, I imagine it to replace the following line in this file usr\keyboard-config\keyprint.xml:
<script name="latin" keylayout="qwertz"/>
to
<script name="latin" keylayout="qwerty-br"/>
Thats something I always need to do in downloaded stock roms. I dont think that specific change could be done with any other function.
Thanks.
EDIT: ooops. just found the [replace_text] function. just make sure it will accept multi-line text search and replace.
maybe a [delete_line] also?
as an example:
[delete_line] {ro.product.multi_touch_enabled=true}

Yes, I'm not one despective guy mate XD, and one goal is that the devs can make your own scripts, the program go to see all sub-folder like one plugin and all the dev's can make they own need stuff. I know that the is the first version, but i can add more commands and functions for have one nice tool for all people.
[delete_line] may be but can use [replace_text] {ro.product.multi_touch_enabled=true}{}

[MOD] Enable init.d scripts support on stock kernel

Hello!
This is a small mod, inspired by non other than our great DoomLord (so if it helped you, thank him/donate to him/worship him ) and his thread in the X10 section.
I am trying a lot of things on my phone, so I often switch back and forth from stock kernel to DoomKernel.
However, I use lots of init.d scripts (my favorite one being SuperCharger)
and I just don't want to lose this feature when I'm on stock.
So, without further ado, here are the steps that are needed to make init.d scripts run automatically at boot on stock kernel.
Requirements:
1. Stock Kernel
2. Root
3. Busybox
4. CMW Recovery for Stock Kernel by nAa.
5. Root Explorer or any other similar app.
Instructions:
1. Download the zip and place it in a folder in your SD card.
2. With Root Explorer, go to /system/etc. Press the Mount RW button on top right corner.
a. If the file install-recovery.sh is not there, then press Menu and create a New File.
Name it install-recovery.sh and then long-press on it and select Open in Text Editor.
Paste this text in it:
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
# init.d support
busybox run-parts /system/etc/init.d/
Save it and delete any .bak file that Root Explorer might have created. Set the permissions as in the attached screenshot.
OR
b. If the file install-recovery.sh is already there, long-press on it and select Open in Text Editor. Paste this text in the end:
Code:
# init.d support
busybox run-parts /system/etc/init.d/
In both scenarios, don't forget to leave one empty line at the end of install-recovery.sh file. ***
3. Reboot into Recovery and flash the init.d-autorunner-stock.zip.
4. Reboot your phone and with Root Explorer go to /data/local/tmp.
There should be a txt file there named "init.d_log_test.txt" and once you open it, you should see the word "done".
5. Now you can use your favorite init.d scripts on stock kernel!
If you want to check if the scripts you want to use actually work, please refer to one of my older threads about how to test them.
*** I am not including an install-recovery.sh because this is the file that Link2SD depends on, so it's better if you modify it yourself, rather than use mine.
Let me know if it worked for you!

what kind of script is the neo?
Confirmed, working
I tried this mod and it seems to be working. Before its application, Supercharger tells me that he cannot reach init.d or something like that. But with this mod it can use init.d without any problems, no more warning. So it is working. Thank you

Other tweaks or guidelines
-Patch your hosts file for blocking Ads
(please think before doing this; many developers are supported through this way)
You can use AdFree application for this or changing manually your hosts file.
Code:

-Use UOT kitchen for basic theming on your device.
Code:
[url]http://uot.dakra.lt/[/url]
-Disable sync feature in sqlite
(author: ownhere - needs a source for your device so you can compile the /system/lib/libsqlite.so)
Code:
[url]http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=903507[/url]
-Use CyanogenMOD's APN list file - one of the most complete located in
Code:
/system/etc/apns-conf.xml
-Do not use task killers.
for GOD sake ... don't use them all... SELECT/MODIFY according to your ROM and what you want.
WARNING
Note: if you don't know what you are doing please don't try. read first and make sure you understand what you are doing and make a backup before doing any mods. i am not responsible for messing up your device but the ARC community and i may assist.
TO WHO CARE TO KNOW
What is build.prop:
- The build.prop file is your android handset’s ‘ID card’.
- It tells applications the specifications of your device, so that apps can change their interface or function for your specific device.
- Editing the build.prop file is most commonly used for changing LCD density, build number and your device’s model or manufacturer.
- Changing your ‘fingerprint’, model or manufacturer can trick some apps in the market to become compatible with your device.
- The build.prop file is a powerful tool for root users to modify the behavior of various aspects of the Android experience. However, there are no secret values here that are going to instantly make your phone run faster, better, smarter, or more efficiently. In fact, if you don't know what you are doing, you can actually decrease the performance of your device. Over time I will investigate more build.prop properties to determine which ones can actually enhance your Android experience and which ones only create a placebo effect

WAIT
REQUIREMENT BEFORE YOU START :-
- Make a NANDROID BACKUP
- If you have any V6 Supercharger tweaks installed, un-supercharge before doing these tweaks. Once finished, you may re-supercharge and
- Root (Superuser/Busybox/Terminal Emulator/ES File Explorer),
- kernel that supports "init.d" scripts (script files that are stored in /system/etc/init.d/)This requires edits in build.prop and the use of terminal emulator
- If your build.prop has an additional build properties section the line of code needs to go in there
(If lines starting with dalvik.vm.checkjni=false or windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=300 exist already in build.prop, please modify them as shown below. Obviously if it isn't already in build.prop, just add it in.)
How to
Replace OR tweaks Build.prop :-
1. Download Es File Explorer ((OR ANY APP LIKE IT))
2.CLick menu, settings, check Root Explorer and Mount File System
3.Copy the Build.prop file into the sd card and copy with file manager
4.Click Favorites tab, Click Phone icon /
5.Navigate to system/
6.Rename build.prop to build.bak
7.Paste build.prop you copied earlier Reboot! Done! :good:
Build.prop tweaks((UPDATED 26-Oct))
Add these at the end of your build.prop
Code:
IN THE ATTACHMENT
~ Free Up More RAM, Make Apps Load Faster ~
1) Open Terminal Emulator on phone or adb shell from PC and type the following.
Code:
su
setprop dalvik.vm.verify-bytecode false
setprop dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags v=n,o=a,u=y,m=y
As shown:((here written v=n,o=v so the new one is v=n,o=a,u=y,m=y))

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
2) Add these lines to the bottom of build.prop using Root Explorer -- or any other app of your favorite
.
(If lines starting with dalvik.vm.verify-bytecode or dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags exist already in build.prop, please modify them as shown below. Obviously if it isn't already in build.prop, just add it in.)
Code:
dalvik.vm.verify-bytecode = false
dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags=v=n,o=a,u=y,m=y
As shown:((here written v=n,o=v so the new one is v=n,o=a,u=y,m=y))
After this, run these two commands in adb shell or terminal emulator
Code:
rm /data/dalvik-cache/*
rm /cache/dalvik-cache/*
reboot
3) Okay, this step is only for those who experience errors from typing the following lines from Step 2:
Code:
rm /data/dalvik-cache/*
rm /cache/dalvik-cache/*
**If you got the error, make sure to undo the tweak since now you are probably experiencing FC's right now and start all over. The undo process**
How to UNDO this tweak
Type the following in adb shell or terminal emulator
((also u can users, skip the 3rd and 4th lines. That starts with "rm" and instead, reboot in recovery and clear cache partition and dalvik-cache but better to do it all))
Code:
su
setprop dalvik.vm.verify-bytecode true
rm /data/dalvik-cache/*
rm /cache/dalvik-cache/*
reboot
So just make sure you have done Step 1 and the edits of build.prop from Step 2 correctly. After that, reboot into recovery and clear cache partition and clear dalvik-cache. Thats all.
Init.d tweaks ((UPDATED 26-Oct))
(needs ROM with init.d access and busybox, open empty file, insert header #!/system/bin/sh and put these there, save in /system/etc/init.d and name it something like 77tweaks)
Note:
1- If you have init.d problem or if not have init.d folder try add this line at hw_config.sh

Installing Java JDK & Cygwin to your PC
Now, Simply download Java JDK and execute the file, after that you can continue with the install of cygwin..
Now You can Choose Between following the Instructions above or watching the video on how to install cygwin
INSTRUCTIONS:
~ Download and extract Cygwin packages to a folder in Desktop
Now you should have a Cygwin Pakaces folder in Desktop if you did everything Okay.
~ Now Run the Cygwin Setup and Install Cygwin at C:/
The Cygwin setup will ask you to select were are the cygwin packages, search on desktop and choose the path to cygwin packages .
After installation progress it will show a Message that its similar to an error, ignore it
~ Now you will se a menu with Lots of Things (See video Min 1:51) Click in the arrows and change from Default to Install
If you did not understand please check the video at min 1:50, after that you have succefully installed cygwin
~ Now download the Kitchen from the XDA thread, Extract the folder from the zip and rename that Folder to Kitchen
Run Cygwin.exe and after you run it the script will create two folders at C:/Cygwin/home
Those Folders are *Your username* and inside you will find some files..
~ Remember you Renamed the Dsixda kitchen to "kitchen"? ok, now move it to C:/Cywgin/home/User/
So it will be like C:/Cygwin/home/User/kitchen .
~ Go to desktop and Run Cygwin - then you will see a CMD window, right? there, you must type the following things:
Code:
[COLOR="Orange"]cd kitchen (enter)
./menu (enter and wait)[/COLOR]
~ if you did everything right, then you should see this
Click to collapse
Making the ROM
Now we will make the flashable zip (rom) , for this we must Have a System Folder / META-INF Folder / Dev Folder
~ Download the META-INF & Dev folders from the Tools section at First Post.
Extract the Folders from the zip and move both folders to desktop.
~ Creating a Working Folder : Go to C:/Cygwin/Home/User/Kitchen and Create a Folder Called "WORKING_ROM"
Move Dev & META-INF Folders to the WORKING_ROM Folder
Now we Must Get the System Folder..
~ Open Terminal Emulator & Type This:
Code:
su
tar -c system/* >> sdcard/system.tar
~ Connect your Phone via USB cable & get the System.tar File
~ Extract System.tar to System Folder and Place it in C:/Cygwin/home/user/kitchen/WOKRING_ROM
Congrats , Now you Have all necessary for the ROM to work.
Click to collapse
Note: Before Extracting the System Folder, Flash Stock GB/ICS and modify as you wish.
Things you can do to modify the rom:
- Add Init.d Support (you can do it so easy with the kitchen)
- Add Busybox (you can do it from the app or with the kitchen)
- Add Scripts for Better Rendering
- Change ROM Font
- Change/Modify status bar
- Change/Modify Framework
- Add new themes
- Add Apps from Themes & Apps Section..
- Modify Build.prop
- Much more..
Time to Make the ROM Prototype
Now, You are supposed to have 3 Folders (System,META-INF,dev) in C:/Cygwin/home/user/kitchen/WORKING_ROM/
Now go to Desktop and execute Cygwin..
Type
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]cd kitchen
./menu[/COLOR]
Click to collapse
and you will see the Menu of Dsixda Android Kitchen
Now Type 99 (Make a ROM from Working Folder) And you should see Something like This:
Now Type 2 and Sit Back, if you don't get any error it will take pretty much time (depends in your RAM, for me it takes like 10/15 Min.)
After that, Go to OUTPUT_ZIP Folder and take your rom.
~ Connect your device via USB Cable.
~ Rename the ZIP to your ROM Name (Ex: Walkman Style)
~ Move the ZIP to the Root of your sdcard
~ Start Recovery & Flash the ROM
Click to collapse
Now you should see aroma, but all that has mi rom names, why? that's because you didn't modified The proper files.. See next post for that info..
Making the True ROM
I Imagine that now you might be using your new rom, if the ROM is working 100% fine, then, now lets go to the PC and edit what last..
~ Open Cygwin Directory
~ Go to Home
~ Enter to the User folder
~ Go to Kitchen
~ Go to WORKING_ROM
~ Open META-INF Folder
~ Go to META-INF/com/google/android and you should have this Files:
~ Now Open Aroma-Config with Notepad++ and edit as you want (WARNING , FOR NOOB USERS , ONLY EDIT ROM NAME, DATE, VERSION AND AUTHOR, DON'T TOUCH WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW)
~ Then open Aroma Folder There and Edit License.txt as you wish..
Click to collapse
Now, You Have Your OWN META-INF & System Folder, But.. What happend to dev folder? Open it!
Dev Folder Editing
Dev folder contains files for locked/unlocked bootloader & also files for each device.. these files are used in the aroma, in the part you choose Bootloader status & Device.. we are going to edit the build.prop of each device :
~ Open Build.prop with Notepad.cc and do whatever you want:
What to do?
-Add Build.prop Tweaks
-Modify Rom Name
-Change Android Version (Fake)
-Etc..
Click to collapse
Now you have edited everything.. lets make the rom!!
~ Open Cygwin
~ Type:
Code:
cd kitchen
./menu
~ *Optional* If your rom does not contain Init.d , Busybox , Etc.. Just add it with the kitchen, its not so difficult! use your brain
~ Now type 99 (Make a rom from working folder)
~ Now type 1 or 2 (i recommend 2, since zipalign make the ram usage reduce)
~ Now wait till the rom appear at C;/Cygwin/home/user/kitchen/output_zip like this:
So now, You are Done, Congrats, You have made your ROM!

mm try removing the apk that's causing the problem, most probably its damaged..and if its a very important app, then replace it with one from another rom or stock rom..
the zipalign wont make your rom boot if it doesnt boot now, something is going wrong!
have you edited files with notepad++ ? if you edit them with normal notepad the file will die and the rom probs will bootloop.

Neroyoung tutorial made for universal, this tutorial made for noobs. You know the difference right?
So, lets leave the OP with his tutorial alone. If he think his tutorial better than real developer like neroyoung.

v1.0
init.d support through an app!!!
Do I have init.d support?:
Well, here is a way to test:
1. Download the file from here: View attachment 1612958
2. Extract the file, you will get a file named 00test. DO NOT flash!
3. Paste it into /etc/init.d. If there is no init.d folder, most probably you DO NOT have init.d support. However, if you still wanna try, just create the folder named "init.d"
4. Change the permissions of the init.d folder and 00test into rwxrwxrwx.
5. Reboot.
6. If you see a file named Test.log in /data, you have init.d support. If not, you will have to run Uni-init, Term-init or Zip-init.
Requirements:
- a rooted phone of course...
- busybox with required applets (especially run-parts), if not sure what is this, just install this by Stericson: Link and please reboot after installing before running this script..use "normal install" method, don't use "smart install"...
Features:
- Utilises install-recovery.sh (if your kernel supports that, but of course, but most do...) to enable init.d scripts (busybox run-parts required)
- Will add lines in install-recovery.sh if it already exists (will not replace install-recovery.sh because certain apps such as Link2SD requires that to work), creates it if it doesn't
- Creates the init.d folder with correct permissions
- Adds 2 init.d scripts: one for testing (shows time of execution), another to ensure that the scripts in init.d folder always have the correct permissions
- Adds sysinit in /system/bin, will add the required lines if it already exists
- Deletes duplicate files and lines to ensure the least of errors
Instructions:
1. Download the apk.
2. Install the apk like any normal app.
3. Launch the app.
4. The rest are pretty self-explanatory...
5. You can uninstall the app after that...

some people prefer stock sometimes for its stability
=========================================================================
For the OP, atleast make credits to original developer bigger? since u cant provide any updates to this app, can anyone consider this development? or app share?

as stated by OP, in order to make this trick work the kernel must support install-recovery.sh script. too bad that SGY is not one of them. a simple test will prove it. you can make a script in init.d contain.
Code:
#/system/bin/sh
echo "kucing meong" > /data/kucing_meong.txt
if the trick really work. you'll find kucing_meong.txt in /data. in the past there are a lot of script and tweak claimed to be able add init.d support in any stock kernel but none of them work since samsung have disabled all the possibilities to add init.d support for SGY. the only way to add init.d support is by install a custom kernel with modified init.rc script.

in short, this app share is useless
Yeah and no development just an app
"Hate Me Till You Can"
Don't post like app share... because the original thread was in development section...
Sent from my Nexus 4 Using Tapatalk 2 Xparent Blue
Lets state the obvious ok,
at first it was in development section since the creator and developer of the app was the thread starter, and sharing that app to SGY section doesnt mean you developed it and placed in development section?
BTW, what makes it different is that a developer can post in development section because he can, develop, update, fix and whatever it is that he sees fine, but a sharer like you cannot
mod not working for our sgy
