Disable Battery Full Notification with Root on Stock ROM? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Hi all,
did some searching but couldn't find any info on this pertaining specifically to the att version of the gs2.
i've tried nearly all the ROMs in the android development section and found that there's always one or two things in each of them that drive me nuts. i've been running unnamed for the past month or so and that's been by far the best of them but there's a couple things that drive me crazy about it.
so i'm planning on returning to stock 2.3.4 using entropy's 1/2 experimental kernel because i think that is what works best for me.
however, i really like how all of the custom ROMs disable the battery full notification which used to wake me up every night. is there any way to disable this notification without turning off vibrate or running a custom ROM? again, just to re-iterate i plan on using a rooted version of the stock 2.3.4 with entropy's dd. thanks!

Yup decompile systemui.apk and edit statusbarpolicy.smali just delete the line that reads:
invoke-direct*{p0},*Lcom/android/systemui/statusbar/policy/StatusBarPolicy;->addFullChargeNotification()V
Recompile the apk. Push the file to system/app, reboot and you'll be good to go

Thanks for that - is there one there I could delete to get rid of the sound when docked? I know it's docked, thanks (and it keeps waking up the GF).

DJ05 Clean .9 MMS Fix

Here's a way to fix MMS on DJ05 Clean .9. Clean comes with the AOSP messaging app, but I use handcent, neither of which would send. Today I deleted the AOSP mesaging app
-adb shell
# rm -r /system/app/Mms.apk
#exit
and then pushed the MMS app from deodexed stock DJ05. Here's the link - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1185896/Fascinate/Mms.apk
Take this app and push it to the /system/app directory with ADB (I didn't try installing with root explorer, or ASTRO)
-Also, I'm sperman on the IRC, so PM me if you need help
-http://alltechdaily.com/2010/12/fixing-mms-on-clean-9/ <- Has my email, you can also comment (or check my forum soon )
I'm not even sure you need to delete the old Mms.apk as when i did this i just did
Adb push Mms.apk /system/app and it worked fine.
I use the stock Mms.apk on clean .9. I hate the bubbles, but like the direct unlock with the puzzle lock screen.
Are you talking MMS as in pictures? Or texting (SMS)
When using root explorer, I get a message saying there isn't enough room to paste the apk?

I'm running that rom and i havent installed any updates. MMS works on both the stock messaging app and handcent for me. is it kernel specific? or did i just get lucky somehow?
What kernel are u using? I'm using 12/12 test non voodoo...

When you install the ROM it gets overwritten automatically It's not like we're doing it on purpose.
Thanks OP, this fixed my issue as well!
Never had an issue with v9. Just flashed the stock mms.apk deodexed file and no problems here

Funny how it still worked for me. Ive had zero issues with MMS. Ask sperman in IRC and you might get different answers each time.... but he deleted stock app!! Good Day

Mine works it just takes FOREVER to send even when I have good service

Didn't work for me. /sad face

I am having the mms-only problem. I am using the 100% original JT super clean 0.9 rom with no extra SMS/MMS apps added or removed. My SMS works great, no duplicates or fails since updating to all the DJ05 stuff, but in-network MMS is completely broken. I tried applying the Mms.apk replacement and it doesn't seem to have worked. I am using the 1212_test kernel, I tried the stupidfast kernel but the battery life was terrible so I prefer this one.
edit: never mind about the touchwiz tray layout, got that figured out.
To confirm, I flashed voodoo 5 stock yesterday ans mms still worked with that fix in handcent.

SC .9 deletes Samsung messaging and replaces it with stock messaging when you flash it.

Is there a specific kernel we need to use for this to work?
it worked for me on several stupidfast kernels along with voodoo 5

Anybody know if this should work (in theory) on a "fascinated mesmerize"?

i put it in flight mode and it managed to solve the problem some how...weird
My guess is that teamwhiskey did one of two things with bionix 1.3.1
1) used the buggy version of my pre-compiled Settings.apk with the am/pm toggle mod directly in their rom release without actually reading my posts to see that it had a bug. I've since pulled the Settings.apk entirely.
or
2) implemented the hack themselves, either by decompiling my mod, or using my original source code, but somehow used the bugged source code (which I fixed and updated within the first 24 hours, so I really have no idea why they wouldn't use the fixed code.)

Thanks for the clarification on this - I would personally recommend just using a different ROM.

Auto brightness

Does anyone know what files in the framework (I'm guessing) need to be edited to adjust the auto brightness settings?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
values/arrays.xml in framework-res.apk. you'll see the brightness levels towards the bottom of the xml
Thanks, but I don't see a values folder. Or even an arrays.xml in any folder.

you have to decompile the apk first. You have to use apktool to decompile it. It is a process. http://code.google.com/p/android-apktool/
Once you decompile the apk.. you'll see the Values folder with the xml files.
follow the instructions from the above link. After installing the required tool files, install the framework file (there is instructions on how to do that in the link).. and then decompile the framework-res.apk file.
or use apk manager
Ok, I'll try that, I can pretty much only use my computer at work for internet so I'll have to do that when I get home. I have both of those on my computer already. Thanks.
More info here, but for a different phone.
Alright, so I've found and edited the file. But when I try to put back on the framework my phone won't boot. I've never really had good luck with these apk programs. I've tried it with and without signing. I've tried it with and without deleting the resources.arsc file. And I've tried adb pushing and trying it in a zip file. Anyone have any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Should I maybe use a different compression level? I'm out of ideas. Thanks.
BAMF roms have auto brightness tweaked.
Keep in mind though, it does have some side effects, such as slow to resume to correct brightness if you tap the screen when it dims, just before shutting off.

Yeah, your ROMs and and Perfect Storm ROMs is where I got the idea. I'm trying to learn about these things. I have my framework set up in a way that I really like it for now, on your Stripped ROM. I've been trying to get this thing set up exactly how I like it. For now I just want to adjust that and then figure out 1 or 2 other things, then I think I'm set. The only other thing I can think of right now is the text color in the pulldown menu.
Hey adrynalyne. I'm sorry for being an ass over on the GPS thread. Will you please come back.
I just have the stomach flue and I was wrong to be so dismissive. If you can help us, please come back. I'll answer all the questions you want to ask without being a smartass.
It looks like the app you recommended worked for some already, and if you know how to sort though a logcat for android, you are much better suited to help than anyone so far (including myself by far..)

Do not resign the apk. Instead copy the android manifest and META-INF folder from the original apk. Then push in adb.
That should work.

Status bar force closing after flashing zip from kitchen

I have a stock unlocked and rooted rezound, i just created a zip from kitchen for my status bar icons. I followed the directions exact, wiped cache and dalvik, then flashed zip. Booted up and status bar keeps force closing. I then wiped cache and dalvik again, mounted data and system, and flashed again but with same results. Anyone know whats going on or how to fix, i am going to have to restore my nandroid and start over?
I wouldn't wipe. most times you get that but let it sit for a few minutes then reboot then it sticks
sent from tapatalk on my rezound
Ive tried everything and still it just shows no status bar and give the force close message from time to time

What ROM are you running? ICS ROMs are finicky and even still Sense GB ROMs can be that much worse. I'd recommend pulling your working framework and swapping the icons/files you're trying to get from the Kitchen.
Im stock rooted. Gingerbread
Im just gonna restore my backup i cant figure out anything else
I've been getting that status bar issue for the last few days. It started after I installed a couple remote control apps and a game. I've uninstalled the game and deleted the openfeint folder and uninstalled one of the remote control apps and it's still happening.
It usually restarts itself but sometimes I have to reboot to get it back.
I think I'm going to go back to my stock OTA nand and then set everything up again, make a nand and try that remote control app I like again.
Anyway, just chiming in that I'm having the issue as well but I've never used the kitchen. I am running a theme, a skin and I pulled in some icons from an ADW theme into Sense using Folder Organizer.
If I figure out what is causing mine to fc I'll post back.
Much appreciated thanks, my status bar never even showed once since flashing but the force close message would come up from time to time. I just restored my backup and am gonna continue looking into this. I would really like to get it solved to due away with the boring stock icons.
I wouldn't use a kitchen for that. Put your icons in with 7 zip and then sign it.

I've had a similar issue. Every zip I've tried using for my themes ends in a bootloop. I've never had to sign apk's before when making themes. Do I need to sign each APK for the zip?

If you're just swapping icons. Pull your framework/sysui and unzip it, swap the icons and re-zip it(usually using store compression). You won't need to sign the apk. I actually made a script for this.

Can you change the lock screen apps? I like to unlock to Handcent for text messages, and disabling the stock Moto texting app allows Handcent to take it's place. Also, can I add the drop down toggles separately via .zip file? I use them constantly. I cannot post in the Dev forum yet, I apologize. I hear battery life in .215 is wonderful. Thanks!

The next version I'm about to post has pulldown toggles, a lockscreen you can change the apps on and more. I'm working on it constantly, don't worry.
Awesome! Thank you, and thank you checking this forum for my question! I'll be downloading for sure! Do you recommend installing via BootMenu?

Safestrap or Bootmenu, whatever you prefer.
I couldn't get it to boot in BootMenu, nothing but a black screen. Installed and booted fine with Safestrap though.. Sorry for the noobish questions I'm about to ask, I haven't flashed a ROM since my DX.
1. How do I use/set a different CPU governor?
2. Is it possible to uninstall or disable the AOSP messaging application? I know I can disable the Moto app on the stock ROM, allowing Handcent to take over the lock screen. For some reason this a huge deal to me.. :silly:
3. Can I remove the drop toggles you have and replace them with another set via zip? Found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827046
4. Is the overclock zip ok with the undervolt you did?
Also, I can't get Google play to work but Winamp will?
After some fiddling with cache settings I got it to play my music.
Also the lock screen app changed by itself... Thanks!
