[Q] My GSII keeps rebooting - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
i'm facing an issue with my phone which makes me upset specially when i turn on or off some features like when turn on airplane mode and then turn it off again, and when i turn the Bluetooth on, the phone starts rebooting and it never turn on normally before rebooting at least 10 to 15 times and some time more ...
it seems that there is an issue in the last android update,
does anyone faced the same issue and what could be the solution ,
i noticed the Bluetooth is on when the phone starts and then it is turning off after a while ..
this really upset me especially after landing and trying to use the phone to do a phone call, or when the battery is empty and i connect the power cable to the phone and trying to turn it on....
any help ?!
thanks

Dont cry give us some facts like what update what firmware .

Yes, need more information, but seems you may need to factory reset and re-flash official firmware here:
[ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KG, KH, KI, KJ, KK1/2/5, KL1/2/3, LA2 Download

android version 2.3.5
Build Number GingerBread.JPKJ2

No issues with that firmware .
As said factory reset and or even reinstall the firmware .

I had the same problem. Once I turned bluetooth on, my phone started rebooting. All my problems were gone after rooting, and installing the V3RTR3MA ROM. Try it, it's really great and easy to do. battery life improved and the phone just became better. Good luck.
[edit] V3RTR3MA is a no wipe ROM, so no losing any data or anything like that. But it's always a good idea to make a backup.
Sent from my GT-I9100

Probably the fact that the flash in effect factory reset and cleaned the phone .

[Q] Problem turning on Wi-fi (KPQ)

So I installed the latest firmware KPQ and wiped data and cache. Everything is working fine with on exception. When I turn on Wi-Fi, only sometimes it stalls and the Wi-Fi icon in the notification bar is stuck at the "turning on" mode.
I do not know what causes this as there is no pattern to when it happens, if just seems to happen randomly. The worst part is when this happens, if I lock my phone, it will not turn on! I have to remove the battery in order for it to work. This is a HUGE annoyance as when I remove the battery my battery percentage usually drops quite a bit.
Like I said, I have the stock firmware (not rooted) and cleared all data and cache prior to and after installing the rom. The issue is random and has only happened three times since the day the rom came out. Which I guess would be about a week.
Anyone have any information on a fix for this? I haven't found anything on this forum or searching google on this subject...
I also have the same problem. I'm on stock XXLPQ (rooted).
First step is backup data and factory reset phone .
Second is reinstall firmware .
How did you install KPQ ??
K is so last year .

[Q] Wifi Problem !

Hey guys !
To begin with, I have searched and searched and have not been able to get help.
Phone stats :
Model GT - I9100
Android - 2.3.5
Baseband:
XXKI4
The problem is, I turn on wifi, it scans, then turns off. I have tried adding a wifi and it comes up "unable to save the network".
I got this phone 2 days ago from a friend.
Mac address and IP address are listed as "Unavailable" in advances settings.
PLEASE HELP!
Tried a hard reset?
Thanks for a quick reply !
I have tried:
Power button and home button (holding)
Factory reset. (Home + Power + Volume up)
Are either of them classified as a "hard reset"
I'm sorry, I am very new to android and have just moved over from apple. Not looking to go back just hoping to clear up this issue !
Yeah, that's one way to do one.
You should try updating your device. Your firmware is pretty outdated.
Either with KIES (crap software, but simple - you know, just like iOS ;-) ) or Odin/Heimdall (little harder, but works for sure).
Tell me if you need help.
Hey, updated to ICS using odin after researching all about roms and kernals and what not.
It did fix the issue of the phone constantly in a loop of turning itself off (HOORAY). Wifi is still not working
Then try a Rom that isn't based on Samsung's. Flash the resurrection edition of CM9 via Odin and after that the latest nightly via cwm. It's worth a shot, as CM comes with its own kernel and such.
If it's working under CM it was some sort of software fault and we can try to figure it out (unless you want to stick with CM).
If it doesn't, it looks like a hardware fault and I cannot help you.

[Q] Device suddenly stops working and needs to be wiped

I have a serious issue with both my I9100 devices.
it suddenly freezes and requires reboot. when i do it, it stuck on boot screen (Where the yellow triangle would be if using unofficial firmware)
nothing helps, only wipe data. once I wipe, device loads fine and starts working again.
I tought at first its rom/kernel related, I switched everything and even tried stock rom.
it keeps happening...today, I tried to swap batteries as one got empty, I took the battery out of the stocked-rom device (after turning it off) and then later when i switched it on, it had to be wiped.
same as with my other device.
Anyone has any clue what this is about?
Its became a big issue for me, I cant flash/wipe every few days...
One device is on Neatrom 4.4 lite, the other stock-everything, both 4.1.2

u can just rewert to stock ICS 4.0.3 firmware on both the phones and check for the issue (whether its firmware related or any hardware issue as such)
thanks for your help,
It did not happen on 403, tough it didnt happen on 4.1.2 for some while either.
what else would you suggest me to test?

1) with 403 for some time once again to ensure no issues of freezing.
2)then a different 4.1.2 stock/custom rom altogether to check for the same(freezing) issue.
stay for some time on those firmwares and see (may be one or two charge cycles).
3) do not install any mods on top of the firmware, just stay stock and see
One of the devices is already back to 403, while the second one on stock 412
the hardest thing to tell if 403 solves it or not, as it happens occasionally, once in a week or two.
I tried two different stock roms, so that would rule out #2.
The weird thing is that wiping data is enough.
data is separated from the rom itself, yet it causes the entire device not to boot anymore.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy SIII (GT-I9300) International Crashing And Rebooting

Hi, I'm having a curious problem with my S3 and I've been unable to solve it. I watched the "noob" video and tried searching these forums as well as a google search with various combinations of the wording for my problem. Nothing matching my issue turned up, I hope I didn't miss anything.
I recently bought a S3 second hand (yes, i know, i should have known better). It was rooted and running some kind of custom ROM when I first turned it on, but I was willing to deal with it until I double checked the procedure for getting it back to stock and starting again myself (nothing against the original rooting and flashing, just like to know exactly what I'm running).
When I purchased the phone I obviously checked that all of the main things worked - calling, texts, mobile data, wi-fi etc. I get home and connect to my home wi-fi and start checking things out and setting stuff up. The phone randomly rebooted. I carry on after the reboot and about 10 mins later, another restart.
To cut a long story short, there is something wrong with the wi-fi. If I turn off wi-fi in the settings menu and reboot, everything works great. No crashes, no reboots. If however I enable the wi-fi about 50% of the time it will crash while wi-fi is activating. The other 50% of the time, it will crash as it goes into the screen lock (either via timeout or pressing the button).
I've re-flashed to it's stock version of Android (using the 'Samsung GS3 Toolkit and Odin), same problem. Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks in advance
You can try updating the modem and RIL to the right version for your country, search in general forum. If it still reboots then try with another wifi source - I've seen some routers cause problems on client machines.
If you do a factory reset when you flash the modem, plus you have the latest stock ROM on board, then any remaining problems are probably hardware.
Test it fully after the factory reset, before you add any apps etc.

After much experimentation and flashing of various files to my phone I have further narrowed the problem. I've still not solved it, but getting closer I feel.
After a clean ROM flash it works like a charm regardless of how much i use the wifi etc. It's only after the first reboot that the trouble starts. It will begin randomly restarting. If I perform a factory reset from recovery mode, it works again, but starts resetting again after a reboot.
Any ideas?

[Q] Galaxy S3 crashing and auto restarting

Hi
I have a galaxy S3 GT-I9300 running Android 4.1.2 and for the past week or so it keeps crashing and also randomly turning itself on and off. I have removed all apps I have put on it in the last few weeks but this hasn't solved the problem. I also normally have power saving mode turned on but have turned this off as I though this might help but it didn't. I only have a fw extra apps installed and they are all popular ones so cant see that been the problem, I have a few songs on and about 3200 photos on it so was wondering if I have too many photos on it. The time at when the phone crashes or turns itself off is random n happens when im using any app and sometimes I it turning itself back on even though it hasnt even been used. This is a real annoyance for me and highly inconvenient so any help would me most appreciated. I am trying to avoid doing a hard reset as I dont want to have to set up the phone again and load on my apps n stuff. If anyone knows how to fix it or any ideas on what might work please let me know and if I havent given enough info please feel free to ask me more questions.
Thanks in Advance.

Factory reset from settings menu (backup your internal sd card to your pc first) and see if the problem still happens before you install any apps etc. You might benefit from updating to the latest stock rom via odin, read the sticky guides in general on how to do this.

I have done a factory reset and only installed what's app as it's essential and although it hasn't restarted it has crashed several times today and I had to then restart it anyway. Anyone else have any ideas?
