Often at night when I use phone lowest brightness is still bright so I found apps which can dim it further but then they loose screen contrast too making it difficult to read.
Is there any app which can make night mode of selected apps (browser/gtalk/gmail/other few user selectable apps) background dark & font light / white similar to youtube app?
UC browser had this night mode earlier but latest version they have removed this feature. Ideally such app should be time sensitive & as the night time approaches it should start applying the night mode.
This is what I am looking to achieve

or
like this in reverse it would save battery specially in night.

The closet App I can think of is CF.Lumen:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1336643
It automatically changes the screen intensity/Colours according to the time of day. Brilliant app, and had actually improved my Sleep cycle.
Note : It's a addon for Chainfire 3D pro:

But the Free version has Render effects also, which also may help:

Regards and good luck.
I looked at CF.Lumens but that does different colors in night mode not what I am looking for but thanks for finding it for me.
I wish some developers can work on this concept.
What about Lux Auto Brightness?

Same problem actually all apps adjust brightness "only" they don't adjust contrast which at low brightness is required to maintain good readability. I wish some one makes this app it should be simple to do so just by altering the color value as per user time table.
Me to .
My need is for an app or a MOD that wpuld provide me woth a button thatwould allow me tochangethecolors and cntrast and brightness of all the phone.
I will use it while using the phone in the bed.
Similar to what read view with night mode in dolphin browser.
I don't know those kind of apps but when I want to use my phone at night, I use an app called "Screen Filter".
I also use screen filter but it cannot function at low brightness of 20-30% the screen looses its contrast. The only solution to this problem is night mode which many gps app have it they reverse the diplay and increse visual contrast which helps alot in saving battery too. I hope some developer can work on this idea and make an app.
Bumping it up again after 6 months hoping some one knows any such app?

All of sudden the contrast on my screen increased to ridiculous amount. I'm getting color banding, even the sign on power on screen is not sharp but has some extra grayish squares around the white letters.
Everything was fine, and after one charging cycle the phone lit up to inform me charging was done and the contrast (and brightness) was all the way up with no way of changing it back.
The 'Auto adjust screen power' option doesn't do anything for me now. Was on stock 2.3.4 KG2 when this happened
I've tried restart, removing battery, factory reset, even reflash (back to 2.3.3 stock, and now I'm on 2.3.4 KG 3stock), nothing works.
Here is screenshot from phone

And here is photo of the same screen (photo quality is horrible, but it should give you idea)
Is there any way how to fix this or do I need to RMA my phone
Where is photo?
Make sure that you are not placing it under some light source which is causing the Auto Brightness to take effect, and also can't you decrease brightness from settings?

The colors and brightness are way off even on manual brightness settings. When I purchased the set and set minimum brightness it was almost unreadable on direct sunlight. Now even with lowest brightness the display is readable without any issues on direct sunlight.
Goto display and set the screen mode to Normal instead of Dynamic.

Don't have Normal there, only Standard, and it was already set on Standard.
Edit: It's not clearly visible on the photo, but the upper part (that's supposed to be full black) is covered with green dots on the display.
I've just experienced this last night, I was comparing the image I saw on my monitor to the SAMOLED and I noticed that the hair color was a very strong orange/red on my phone and its chestnut brown on the screen.. I checked the color mode and its standard.. I was playing around with the phone including rebooting it and it seemed to have gone away.
This was on XXKG6.
h4rr0d, this really looks like a hardware fault to me. Sorry to say, but I advice you to contact Samsung assistance.
Thanks for the replies guys, I've already RMA'd the cell, waiting for the service to respond now.
EDIT: Ok, so I've got the phone back today, the RMA report states they have 'exchanged an electric component', so no clue what it was. But I'm happy I've got my phone back fixed and they actually fixed it without any issues.
Hi guys i would like to ask what is your best/average display time on a full single charge? Please vote on the poll above. It would also be good if you can state your display brightness / using auto brightness and post a screen shot of your display time, graph and percentage.
For those who have no idea how to get there simply follow these steps: Settings > About Phone > Battery Usage > Display
To take a screen shot simply press the home button and power/lock button (the home button should be pressed slightly earlier than the power/lock button).
Here's my best:

However my average is around 3 to 4.5 hours and my brightness is just slightly above the min brightness (i dont use auto brightness). I'm on stock ROM and stock battery by the way for those wondering.
Display time is about 7h max, tweak your standby drain if you want more. My best was 8h 20min with extended battery and about 10 h standby.;-)
Really irrelevant where CPU usage, data, wifi, flight mode, screen brightness, GPS, background apps, services etc etc etc are not taken into consideration.....
Edit: In short, the post is way too general.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Getting around 5 to 5 1/2 hours usually over the course of one day.
I've managed 10+ hours with C3D night mode (black background, red text), lowest brigthness, energy saver (800 MHZ max) and flight mode on. But that must be close to the upper limit methinks.

CF.lumen (Chainfire)We all know Chainfire is a fantastic developer and he makes some amazing apps. CF.lumen is an app for rooted users that will allow you to modify the colors on your screen. You can adjust the colors to accommodate colorblind folks and you can set the colors to change based on the position of the sun.
When using the default settings, your display will get a warmer tint (lower color temperature) when the sun is down, vastly reducing strain on the eyes. Blue light makes your brain want to stay awake, and a lower color temperatures reduces the amount of blue displayed; using this in the evening reduces your brain's effort to keep you awake at night.
During sleeping hours by default a red filter is used. Red strains your eyes the least, and retains your night vision.
Light sensor
The light sensor can be used to automagically adjust the color: switch to the sleep filter in full dark, or to the day filter (usually none) under bright lights.
Because light sensor quality varies wildly between devices, a calibration option is provided to experiment with.
Color filters
Several filters are provided. Those named after a color (red, green, blue, ...) do not limit the display to those colors, but convert the displayed image to grayscale first, then display that image in levels of the selected color. This preserves details that would otherwise be lost.
Grayscale, invert colors, temperature adjustment and custom R/G/B adjustment filters are also provided.
Colorblindness
The master color filter setting also has an option for colorblindness enhancement, with settings for protanopia/anomaly, deuteranopia/anomaly and tritanopia/anomaly. These options in theory enhance clarity and color detail.
No claims are made to the effectiveness of these filters. These filters were thought up by Google engineers, CF.lumen just includes them.

In a completely dark room, this phones screen get way too dim for my liking as it will automatically drop all the way to 0% brightness.
I don't want to disable automatic brightness as it's a pain manually adjusting the level in pretty much every other environment.
I do want to be able to set the phone to never drop below ~10% even when I'm in a totally dark room though. I know I use to be able to do this with an older android phone but it may have been my Samsung Galaxy S4 from many years back.
Is there any way to set a minimum level for the brightness on the V30? The only area in the settings I can find doesn't have an option to do it.

You have to use an app to do that. There's an app called Lux available in Google Play which lets you control auto brightness better than LG software does. Lux Lite is the free version, and Lux is the paid version. A lot of people have recommended it.
You can set it to be brighter than LG allows, for instance.
Wow i want the same brigtness managment for my V30+ because in auto he won't go under 15% in a dark room and it's better for my eyes when i set it at 10% (No oreo here).
I have this S23 Ultra for 3 weeks ish now and it was amazing on battery with YouTube ReVanced often getting 8-10h screen on with YouTube easily with 30+% left. Suddenly today it got pretty hot and battery drains like crazy in YouTube ReVanced.
I repatched the newest supported version, clean installed it, updated to latest microg, full shutdown and cold boot of the phone, cleared caches, nothing helps. Both on wifi and 5G the drain is this high.
Auto brightness was my second suspect and I checked the slider in the notification panel and it behaves normally. It responds to changes in ambient light as normal during YouTube and isn't overly high.
Anyone have any ideas what can cause it?
Check the screenshots (in Dutch unfortunately) for the difference in screen on and YouTube usage times.
8h+ sot and like 40% left so good:

Today, bad. Only 5+h screen on and way less YouTube and battery is basically empty.
update it, the icon even changed since then. You're on a old revision.
A big factor is what your screen brightness was when watching videos. If you watch videos in low brightness (like during nighttime), then there will be a big difference to battery life compared to watching videos in high brightness.
No problems here

Icon is manually set with Goodlocks theme engine from UX LED icon pack
But, i'm an xxxxx. I figured it out. It wasn't YouTube at all...
I got a new driver's license yesterday which I keep between my back case and the phone. This new one has NFC... It was just scanning NFC all day long with the phone unlocked... This apparently doesn't show up anywhere in battery stats.
Obviously I have NFC basically always on for Google Pay and such so yeah.
I can't keep my license in there anymore as there seems to be no real way to keep NFC on for pay but not read stuff constantly.
I'll figure something out. But problem solved.
