Thanks anyway
if you want the Samsung ICS lockscreen on our Gingerbread roms, the only rom to have it at the moment is the latest Hyperdroid

Ah. You didn't specify you wanted the one from TouchWiz. The one in WidgetLocker is the AOSP ICS lockscreen.
Stock XWLA4 and I think XILA2 as well have the same lockscreen as (Samsung stock) ICS.
WidgetLocker best for your GINGERBREAD ROM !
Try GO Locker along with "GO Locker ICS Theme".

you can try JKay Deluxe too. It had the ICS lockscreen option when i was on GB, using CheckROM Revo HD ROM.
im quite disappointed at what sony did with ics. the gui alone is not up to expectations. it looks exactly the same as GB on the surface. Sony could have done so much more but they stuck with the old. been using kamarush MINICMSANDWICH Lite AOSP with kamarush v2 kernal before i flashed the official ics. the minicm lite is so much beter. beter battery life. smoother & cleaner interface. the app drawer is so much more efficient. Sony just took GB gui and overlayed it over ics. compared to the icslite, the official one just looks like crap. Flashing back to miniicslite as i type this.
Cant wait to get the miniics lite update!!
This goes to show XDA people are beter and more advanced!!
Kamarush amazing ROM!

This is not true. You find the common things in Xperia GB and Xperia ICS becuase both are having the Timescape UI.
If to the contrary to what happened in reality, you were given with Kamarush's ICS ROM from the day one you owned your cell phone, you would love the ICS update by Sony. At least the UI.
The performance obviously is cooler in custom ROMs. That's why they are made at the first place. For better performance.
Anyways, it all depends on for how much time you used a thing. You get bored very soon. And thus you have the cool custom ROMs out here in XDA.
So, instead of signing with my usual thanks, I will sign as...
Happy Flashing,
Rick

i guess your right, but i just cant help but feel the timescape ui looks very clunky and square. the stock google ui is so much beter imo. sony could have tweaked the ui rather than just port the ui. but yeah thats what all the custom roms are for!! cant wait to see what the crazy roms get cooked up now that the official roms are out there!!
Actually the four cornered interface that sony uses, utilises the space available in small screens pretty well That's why they stuck to it. I don't think this UI will be changed. This is the most efficient IMO Well opinions differ. That's why some guy started rooting and modding
For me,it doesn't matter as I like Gingerbread and this ICS UI is same like Gingerbread but what dissapoint me is the ICS don't have the ICS toggle at the status bar T.T I saw many ICS phone with the toggle button but our ICS don't have any,but I'm glad they make the setting button on the status bar...

I did like most part of the ICS update except for these:
#1. There are certain areas in the ui which don't blend with the adjoining panels well.
#2. The light sensor is not used for automatic brightness and so now I'm stuck with fixed display brightness.
#3. The widgets still leave a lot to be desired.
#4. New camera ui is horrible.
Sent from my SK17i using XDA
I liked the update, as Sony stated in its blog, most features of ICS were already implemented in GB by Sony, but we have the most up-to-date Android version with all its bug fixes (and I mean BUGs, not simple cosmetic stuff, I'm talking security bugs) with the same known, useful and space aware UI. Not to mention apps compatibility.
I really dont care about the interface colors and stuff, even the camera is way easier to handle the way they did, not much clutter like some vendors do, and the shots are still awesome.
So far didn't hit a single bug, no FCs, no reboots, its rock solid, stable and even battery efficient, I'm getting the same battery time as in GB.

As I know just Galaxy phones (except Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus) and some Sense3 HTC devices have toggles out of the box...
I think you saw a picture of a CyanogenMod build, because with these ROMs you can have toggles by default.
I've seen toggles in notification area on HTC One V, stock ICS. Looks quite nice, would love to have it on my LWW.

there are toggles on the stock ics on the nexus. im on the trebuchet launcher with miniics lite and it has the toggles too. its an easy mod to do anyway!
btw i really like the trebuchet launcher. best launcher yet! looks very nice and very smooth!
I feel performance is apparently decreased compared to GB stock rom. Even games like Fruit Ninja & angry birds which ran butter like smooth on GB now have got some frame skipping or gliches. Its a bit annoying for me however I'm quit satisfied with new features.

Check THIS
I seriously dislike the TouchWiz UI. It's very boring and dull, I love the way stock Android looks with its dark and light blue theme, very minimalistic and intuitive and I hate the way TouchWiz is just black grey and a mixture of other colors. I'm using NovaLuancher but it only changes the home screen, I'm looking for stock android settings menu and notification/status bar. Is there a solution to this yet? Putting stock ICS on the Galaxy S3? Or are there any launchers or skins that make the settings menu and notifications look like stock ICS?
No one? I'd also like to know.

Check themes and apps section.. If you can't find any themes, then no.. Just hang on... There will be 100 theme releases soon where all is "aosp" and every rom is AOSP themed. Cm9 and aokp will sure also find its way some day

Forgive my ignorance but I've been a iOS user since the first iPhone and I just switched to ICS because I was sick of the iPhone. What is AOSP? I know what CM9 is, what would you recommend me to install on my phone?
AOSP stands for "Android Open Soruce Poject" it is basally the barebone android OS made by Google for all to see. Many roms are based off of it, as the code is release soon after googles flagship nexus devices.
I like aosp too but dont yiu guys think it makes the phone look cheap? I find touchwiz icons classy..
I would suggest waiting a month or so after your carrier gets it to put a custom ROM on it. By then a lot of bugs well have been worked out and there will be some great tutorials available.

no, because you can customize it to your liking. there are thousands of options.
to the op download a launcher and it might imprve your experience.
I doubt CM9 or other stock ICS ROMs will have features like smart stay or s voice...if they do include them, that would be awesome!

CM9 for SGS3 would be custom to suit the S3.. So I'm sure it would include all the features unique only to the S3....
I think the TouchWiz 5 UI is quite nice, MUCH better than the 4.0 on my SGSII, however, I use Nova launcher because S launcher is driving me crazy
Nevertheless, AOSP is still much better, and as the SGSIII is a hugely successful and famous device, so it won't take long for the first AOSP roms to spread from the ground Just have a look at the SGSII
cheers

Is there a way to add swipe to remove notifications feature on froyo based roms?
I know froyo is totally outdated now but there might be very few who may be still using it like me..
the code for gb was given because cm7 had it which is for gb...so they just ported the codes ...dont have a idea but froyo never used it.............

I know that there are new leaks coming out every day (some real, some not).
But I need a ROM that is Jelly Bean but without the Touchwiz.
I know there is SuperNexus but that has Memory Leaks.
Anyone know of one? Please no time wasters..
I'm gonna be honest with you.
Jelly Bean without touchwiz sounds like you wanna look in the AOSP direction. However, there's no AOSP Jellybean ROM today that hasn't got memory leaks.
I'm not sure, though, if someone has taken a samsung base ROM and taken out all touxhwiz related to replace with AOSP counterparts.
Use a JB leak and holo launcher HD, looses touchwiz and you get stock JB

He isn't wrong for wanting a non TW rom. Some people dislike TW. I bought the GS3 but hate TW am I wrong for that? But I am surprised I actually like some of the TW features on the GS3 so lately I have been running TW but themed out as much as possibly as AOSP.
But OP as of right now there are no AOSP roms (JB without TW) that do not have a memory leak. Chances are the memory leak will be there until JB kernel sources are released.
If you want jelly bean without whole touchwiz framework, flash some rom based on aosp or cm19, but if you want stock samsung jb rom without touchwiz launcher, just download some 3rd party launcher via play store, i recommend nova or apex. You can't delete whole touchwiz framework but launcher is replaceable.

Holo launcher hd is a third-party launcher based on AOSP JB it looks exactly the same as it, third-party launchers are the only way if you want stock, the other alternate is to flash an AOSP or CM10 Rom.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Yup.
Use a third party launcher like Holo Launcher.
For locker use Holo Locker.
Optionally Root your SIII. And Delete some .apk in system \app.
Lots of replacements there.
Lemme save you the trouble. And get you some suggestions:
AllShare Play - Who wants it? B|
Calculator - Get one like Easy Calculator. Though the stock calculator is pretty nice.
Camera - I'd recommend Camera Zoom FX. but it's paid. stock camera aint bad either.
Clock - A simple deskclock could do. Try "Desk Clock". Or else Stock Clock. " " ".
Contacts, Phone - Can't do anything bout these. except mod on own.
Gallery - Well. It's fine but you can use ICS Gallery by Mobylynx. Pretty fast and elegant
Internet - I hate the stock browser. Get Chrome or ICS Browser +
Messaging - Get ICS Messaging, though i'm not sure if it supports Direct Call.
My Files - Get ES File Explorer. It's the best file manager to drag and drop files.
S Memo, S Planner - Well, they aren't bad. But you can even try out Color Note for S Memo. And for S Planner try Taskos To do list.
S Voice - I don't like S voice at all. Get Speaktoit Assistant. Best voice assistant ever.
Samsung Apps. - Keep this app. Gives free games sometimes.
Video Player - Well. Just keep it. It isn't that bad. Or else try mx video player. It's even good.
Voice Recorder - Stock one is nice. You can try 3rd party Easy Voice Recorder.
Well. That's it.
Can't do anything about the other stuff. Because that's the framework.
I'd recommend trying out a theme, if you want to get rid of that too.
I spent quite some time trying to find the best app in all those areas. So kindly just press the thanks button if i helped you.

Why have you flashed a custom rom, when all you needed was another launcher?
Wait for vertumus to add support for JB in his jelly bean domination theme

Use apex/nova launcher with it and this is the closest you can get to stock jelly bean with a samsung ROM.
