[Q] HP Touchpad 32gb - Will not turn on after reset - TouchPad General

As of lately my Touchpad was having boot up problems, then I updated to 3.0.5 86 for a hopeful resolution, but the issue continued. Last night I decided to do a complete reset, wiping out all data (usb as well) from my tablet. I came back to my tablet and it was off, so I held the power button and nothing.
I've tried the following to revive it:
Charge it all night (with OEM equipment, confirmed it works with other equipment)
Power button only
Power button + physical button
Power button + physical button + volume keys
Power button + press physical button several times (saw it on another forum)
Connected to wall charger plus all the above
Connected to my PC plus all of the above
This touchpad will not power on. Funny thing though is that when I tried this through my computer every so often it sounded like it was mounting through my computer then an error sound as if mounting was unsuccesful through my compter.
I've had my Touchpad since August, purchased during the fire sale on HP.com. Any ideas on what I can do?

So you don't even see the web address for WebOS Doctor?
Had you installed Android or hacked it in any way?

Nothing. I uninstalled it yesterday through ACMEUninstaller. I had the persistent issue where MOBOOT 0.3.4 would put the tablet through a heavy sleep. Which is why I removed Android, then did a reset through WebOS.

mine was stubborn once.
i left on charger for an hour and it returned normal..
but i did do this:
power + vol Down + center button..
i know that usual is power + vol up + center..
i read that there is a difference

May be u tried this
plug into computer now just hold volume up nothing else
if u r lucky u should get webos recovery.

I tried connecting it to the computer and it somehow attempts to register on my PC but stops. When I disconnect it the computer beeps as well. Volume up did not do the trick.

Are you sure the power cord is good? I read that some have bad cords. I use the cord from an old blackberry that is a lot heavier than the one shipped. I do use the plug part because it has the correct amps to charge the tab.
Just a thought.

If you are still having this problem just press power and enter button simultaneously for more than 30 seconds, I HD a similar problem but I was not holding the buttons long enough.

[Q] No Recovery, Black Screen

Hi,
i bought a Touchpad on Ebay. The problem is that i can't get it into Recovery or anything else. The screen went all black. I tried several key combinations (volume up + power, home + volume up + power). When i plug it to my pc it recognizes a device. I also tried the WebOS Doctor but no success. Is there a other possibility to bring it back to live?
Greetings Markus
You say it's recognized, so that's a start. Try this:
Press and hold VolUp + Power, then repeatedly hit Home about 15-20 times. You won't notice anything happening, but that forces it to do a hard poweroff. Then, press-and-hold Power + VolUp + Home, and that should turn it on in WebOS Recovery Mode.
Actually, you dont have to do all these weird button combinations to get into recovery. just holding down the home button and the power button for about 10 seconds forces a reboot. When it restarts, but before the HP logo appears, just hold down the volume up button to go into webOS recovery. You will know you are in recovery when you get a big usb symbol in the middle of the screen. If you ran the webOS doctor, you would have had to do this so when you say you ran the doctor, did it actually run it?

Hi,
thank you for your answers. I have tried these combinations several times, but with no success. But I can hear, when the device is connected to my PC (Windows), that peep peep sound when you plug in an USB device. So there will be a reset of the device i think.

Maybe the screen is dead. If your Touchpad is off, I dont think the computer will recognize it until its turned on. If your computer is recognizing it, I would think that it is on, just not displaying anything. When you press the volume buttons, do you hear any sound indicating the volume is being adjusted?
When you bought it off of ebay did you make sure it didnt say broken or for parts only, something like that? How much did you buy it for?

Deleted partition? Thats probably not good. So did the seller actually describe that it wasnt turning on and working? If, somehow, they deleted the whole operating system off of the tablet, including recovery, you might be in a bad place with that. There MAY be a way to force load webOS on the device but I, personally, don't know about that. Someone with more computer skills will have to help you. If the seller didnt explain that it wasnt even turning on, You should try to contact them.
Hi, he did mention that.
But i thought the recovery mode still works. So my fault.

Ah. Well I dont know if there is a way to get it to work. If anyone can help you though, it would be the people over at webOS Nation. Maybe try asking over there. webOS devices are their thing.

Thank you for your help!
I will try it on the other forum and report any changes.

Chinese Tablet won't start

I have problems with my Allwiner A13B tablet. It wont start at all. I had a bootloop problem, so i flashed the tablet wiht LiveSuit. After the flash everything was ok, only the touch was working opposit but i've found a fix for that. I was cheking the options to see if all of the others features are fine, but i didnt had much of a battery and the battery died and tablet turned off. I've tried to turned on ever since but with no luck. The combination of the buttons (VOL + & PWR) won't work. I've tried to hold for 30 sec the PWR buton and plugged in then press the power button for 3 sec to try to start the tablet but nothing happends, not even with the reset button in the little hole. The blue LED light was working when i plugged but 4 hours later it stopped. I just leaved my tablet not plugged in for 2 hours then i plugged in and the light start to work again but 2 hours later it stopped. When i plug in the device in my pc and try to launch LiveSuit the update process starts but after few second fails and the PC says that the device i've connected has a malfunction. Please help me if you can.
come on guys help me please

Mi Pad 1 not starting how so ever. Please help!

Hi there,
I bought this MiPad about 4 months ago and it was all working properly till yesterday. And all of a sudden, I saw the fast boot screen showing up on the screen. I was clueless as why that screen was showing up without me doing anything. I didn't know what to do and pressed power button (maybe that was the mistake I did). Now the device is turned off and not turning on at all. I tried many ways to turn it on, but failed till now. I have tried -
- Holding the Power button for quite a while.
- Holding a combination of Volume buttons and Power button.
- Charging it overnight and trying the above two steps. (though connected to the charger, no notification lights showed up)
- When searching for solutions, came across this thread in some forum. Tried this as well, but no results. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/ ... ve-totally-t3417604)
When I connect and disconnect the device to my laptop through USB cable, I can hear the Windows beep sound, but does not detect it (I mean, it won't be displayed in either MiFlash, MiPCSuite tools or in the Windows file explorer).
If anybody has a solution for this, please help. Thanks.

Help, blank screen and unable to boot

I was searching for a solution for my contact sync issue and I needed to reboot. After pressing reboot, the screen goes blank and I cannot boot again. Volume up + power doesn't work. Plug in power and the light didn't turn on. Even try to hit the tiny hole that looks like reset and that didn't work with. Help!
I am on official miui 9 with Google installer
Did you hold the power button for a longer time?
Yes, try holding the power button for some time. One time, after fastboot, it took around 90 seconds to power up.
there's a tiny hole that looks like a reset ????
did you poke the mic hole?

Hi Rioru, did you ever find a solution to your issue. After charging last night, suddenly I had exactly the same error. Which means I cannot boot the tablet, Power+Volume UP does not respond, charging LED not responding and after connecting to a PC I cannot not establish an ADB connection.
Thanks!

How to get into recovery mode for S7+? Nothing worked for me!

I tried the usual key holding combinations but they didn't work. I even tried connecting headphones as suggested on reddit, but that didn't work. I'd like to wipe the cache partition and troubleshoot a font issue.
My S7+ tab is NOT rooted. Thanks
You need to plug it into a computer via USB for it to work.

Thank you. Can you confirm what the correct procedure with Android 13 is once plugged in? Thanks
Android 13? Don't you mean 12?
Samsung hasn't released Android 13 for the Tab S7/S7+ yet.
My bad. Yes, I mean 12. I noticed the fonts are now small, even after doing a factory install.
For instance, when using Google Sheets app and selecting a file from the device, the name, size, etc. fonts are all tiny now. Has anyone else noticed this?
BTW, I wasted hours and I lost some data because I couldn't do a clean reset as I wasn't able to get into Recovery Mode with S7 tablet connected to my PC.
I'm sorry to hear that. Being connected to a computer via USB and holding the power and volume up buttons, then releasing as soon as the Samsung splash screen appears is the only way to get into recovery mode.
Hey, I don't know if you still need to know how to factory reset your tablet from recovery mode, but I had the same problem and I've followed this quick guide and it worked for me
1) Press the "Power" and "Volume down" buttons simultaneously until "Switch off" and "Restart" appear on the screen.
2) Press the red "Switch off" symbol on the screen and confirm again. The tablet shuts down.
3) Connect the tablet to a PC with a USB-C cable and wait until the final battery level is displayed in percent (the percentages count up and the circular ring around the battery level becomes brighter and brighter). No "recovery mode" without USB-C cable!
4) With the tablet still switched off and connected to USB-C, press the "Power" and "Volume up" buttons until the tablet has entered "Recovery mode".
5) In "Recovery Mode", the menu items can be selected with the "Volume up" and "Volume down" buttons and confirmed with the "Power" button.
6) Exit the "Recovery Mode":
Remove the USB-C cable.
For some reason it only worked after I installed Smart Switch...
has samsung acknowledged this new procedure?
is it documented by samsung?
I spent 45 minutes chatting with Samsung support yesterday and one of the things they asked me to do is clear the cache from the recovery menu. I tried many many times using just the pwr/v^ buttons and they kept repeating the same instructions, then told me that I must have a faulty device. Eventually I quit the chat and came to look here and I can confirm 100% that when connected via USB to my pc the pwr+v^ method works.
I think the, plugging it in to a PC via USB requirement was implemented when it was updated from Android 10 to 11.

I downloaded the latest version of the user manual (Apr 2022) and it was not documented.
I don't remember where I first saw the change. But it has been over a year; I think when Samsung updated it to Android 11.
