[Requesting] Deleted 4 system apps... - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hello all. Hoping someone can help me get 4 system apps back so that I can restore it to my Prime. I had made a backup for them through TB. But when I went to restore it it didn't give me an option to restore. Looks like datas were saved but the actual apks are gone. I had assumed TB had made a backup of the apks before I deleted them from system/app
Missing apks:
MyLibrar 2.1.0
Talk 4.0.3-239410
WebStorage 1.1.38.4657
Zinio 1.0.6.4097
I recall that peeps that had root prior to ics update that had removed system apps could not complete the updates. So im trying to avoid that. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yep OTA is no good now with system apps deleted. Did you know with ICS you could've just frozen those apps instead? its built into the prime. You "should" still be able to manually update through Asus website bit those updates take a while after release to be put up there.
Actually in developement there's a system dump from a prime. download the system dump then unzip it and look for the specific apk you need in there.
I learned my lesson the hard way like you with my Atrix. I rooted n deleted system apps n OTA wouldn't wrk.

With ICS I froze (and it hides then) like 10 system apps... I like that function a lot.

what system apps did you disable or found useless? I wonder when OTA updates come do you need to re-enable those apps/defrost them for OTA to work or can they just stay frozen.

I think I'm good now. The datas from TB that I backed up is no longer there since I reinstalled the missing system apks.

Darn. The ICS system dump for some reason doesn't contain apks,
MyLibrar 2.1.0
WebStorage 1.1.38.4657
Requesting anyone that can dropbox me a link to these two apks if possible?

Figured it out through manual update of ICS. Got all my systems apks back Thanks Asus!

[MOD] ICS 4.0.3 Launcher2 page notification icons-Various styles-Requests welcome

Hello everybody peeps, I had this in tylermaciaszek's theme thread, but decided to create my own thread as I think that we're headed in different directions. I will still be helping him and I hope he will still be helping me, but there you go.
This is a simple mod to the page indicator icons at the top of the home screen.
All you need for this is root explorer and a bit of file management know how.
1. Download your chosen launcher from the links below, rename to Launcher2.apk and then copy to your device.
2. Navigate to /System/app and rename Launcher2.apk to an appropriate backup name.
3. Copy the downloaded file to /System/app and change it's permissions to rw-r--r--
4. That's it, no re-boot necessary.
THIS WILL REVERT YOUR HOMESCREEN TO 5 BLANK PAGES
Your icons and folders should remain as they were.

Also thanks to reNeglect, Lock-N-Load and Swiftks for various reasons.

Thanks =D i couldnt think of a more ICS way for the indicators. Loving the lines(5th).
hey thanks for the blank ones!
Yet another nice mod.... check
TIP.. take screenshots of your home screens BEFORE you do this!!! That way you can reset them up. If you fail to you can only revert back by putting back the stock app & even then you loose all Widgets.
I already have a couple more that I will be updating tomorrow.
Here's a couple quick pics I did in photoshop you could look into based off one of your TF line themes:
Just suggestions, I figure we might as well take advantage of the Transformer Prime name while it is still here.

when i tried updating my firmware with an OTA, it wouldnt let me until i reverted to the original launcher. would that make these mods incompatible with the new OTA's, or does it just mean the sumcheck failed and i can go right back to using this awesomesauce?
This works on the new ota just follow the steps like normal
Would this work on a deodexed rom?

No, but I will eventually get around to packaging them as zips for deodexed rom.
Ok so if i am on 9.4.2.13 and i lost my original file and it is the only thing preventing me from the ota does anyone have the original apk
I just noticed I seem to have lost this ... I guess maybe after the .15 update? I just reapplied
NOTE
this will kill your OTA .21 update and give you the red exclamation of death. So roll back to your original file first. Trust me, I know

Just have a look in /system/app. I think you can still view this folder even if you're not rooted. (but to move anything OUT of it, you WILL need root)
If the folder contains "SevenEngine.apk", (which is the .apk for Social Hub) then even if it "wasn't pre-installed", then it's there.
That file, once moved out, will remove the "Play Store" entry entirely.
Worked for me. I had it frozen with Titanium Backup before, but this stupid MTC app showed up today. I'm guessing Google updated something on their end to make market links more persistent.
Once I moved SevenEngine.apk out of /system/app, the Russian MTC market entry saying it had an update disappeared.
Of course, if you actually use Social Hub, then this is probably not ideal for you.
EDIT to add: see this post on another thread about this problem. May work for those not rooted. At least, until Market gets re-updated to the current version of "Play Store".

This does indeed work, deleted SevenEngine.apk & now it is no longer asking for an update.
I am on a non-rooted SGS2 and have cleared the MTC Russian update from appearing. All I did was clear the cache for the Play Store via Settings>Applications>Manage applications>Google Play Store>Clear cache.

[Q] + [Found Workaround] - Titanium Backup not working properly, anyone has ideas?

Iv'e moved from Note to SGSIII
Backed up all user+data apps on Note,
Copied TB Folder to SGSIII Internal SD Card,
Ran TB (Pro, Purchased) and restored all user apps+data.
60% of the apps didn't restore, TB didn't complain, and if I click them in TB, i have "Uninstall" enabled, but no other keys active.
Something is messed up.
Edit:
Thanks to Zabalba,
the backups might be corrupted. Have you tried downloading one of the missing apps through the market and restoring Data only?

This worked for me, it's an acceptable workaround.
I have emailed TB, hope they solve this for other users.
Open TB let it get root close TB Reboot phone turn on USB debugging .
Try apps restore without data .

Didn't work.
This is what I am dealing with :

It might be hanging on a specific app. Try restoring one by one and see if you can identify if one particular app is causing the app to hang.

It's not hanging. The progress bar goes all the way to 100%
And I get a notification that Titanium Finished restoring apps.
Also, Tried one by one, no go.
Those that restored normally on the batch restore are already there, those that didn't won't restore one by one either.
the backups might be corrupted. Have you tried downloading one of the missing apps through the market and restoring Data only?
I had to restore in smaller batches (30 odd apps at a time) to avoid it hanging on me.

[Q] Help! I deleted wrong file!!

Hello-
Just got my new LTE and rooted it right away. I then loaded my Titanium files from my old EVO to install my old apps. While cleaning up the backups in Titanium, I accidentally deleted the program that displays weather; this is the one where you press the space right below the clock on the main page. When I press it now, it says the application isn't installed.
What is the name of this app and where can I get it? Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can extract myself from this bone-headed move.

Did u make a Nand after u rooted?
Of course not. Grrrrr
well i got a simple solution. Especially cause your rooted now. Flash Viper's Stock Deodexed ROM. Just because, you plan to stay Rooted correct? Its up to date, and no different from what u have now. Its just deodexed.
EDIT....Ohh im sorry, he has odex and Deodexed Stock ROms. Or you could start over. I could give you the Weather.apk and have you push it to system/app, but why go thru all that trouble. If your looking to stay Stock, and keep that fresh and nice **BACK-UP** (lol, had to do that) then i would flash one of the few Stock ROms we got now, or flash the RUU and sgtart over. I personally dont like adding in things that were taken out by accident. Could make a mess.
Here you go. Put these in your Titanium Backup folder and then restore.

Yeah i was trying to do that. Jesus...LOL....
Actually, I'm not sure what I need. I restored the one you sent, but it didn't fix the problem. I really don't want to install a new ROM just yet - I like the stock ROM (for now).
Well, can you compare my list to what's on yours and see what's missing?
The one that you sent is missing, but I copied it to the Titanium folder on my phone. This is really strange.
Okay, then in TB, go to: Menu -> Refresh Apps List
That should read it into TB so TB can restore it.
I had already refreshed it.
Okay...
Then what? They won't install?
Maybe try renaming them to "Weather.apk" and "Weather.odex" and putting them into /system/app manually.
Wait, never mind. Hang on a sec...
Okay, try these. The .zip contains both Weather.apk and Weather.odex pulled from my /system/app folder.
I copied them over to the sdcard and then went into adb shell. I tried to move them to /system/app but it is read only. How do I get them there?
I don't know off-hand how to do it through adb but you can install ES File Explorer (free) from the market. Then, under Settings there is an option to mount the system folder as writeable.
Or maybe someone can step in and advise how to do it in adb.
I was able to get it to /system/app, but it still isn't working. How can I get a stock ROM and install it?
Check the permissions. I think they should be rw - r - r.

remove Gapps.apk

hello. i am trying to Remove Gapps apk with a root explorer. I searched every folder and can not locate...can someone direct me to were this is located. thank you
Oooh. Be careful. There's been many a sad tale from users removing things such as that. Since you have to flash them to install them, you probably need another zip to revert.
Thank you

Removal of Google services will render your device useless if done incorrectly.
Services framework is built into the rom.
The only current rom that has this separation done for you ...is CM ....
Be careful, and run 2 backups before removing "anything " Google services related ...g

You should use Titanium Backup and freeze any app, then see how your phone runs. You can step back easier to a working system if you have to.

If you are not "sure" what you are removing, then dont remove it.
I am "sure" that the carrier icon is a system process that will break other areas of the phone if removed.
Perhaps you can request this feature change in MIUI ??
the developers are very kind, and may decide to cook that feature in....g

The carrier name isn't an app that you can remove. You would have to do some decompiling voodoo or some such surgery. Just put a piece of bacon over it -- you'll actually look forward to looking at it.
