Hi,
I have issues receiving sms on my Ace with Cyanogenmod 7.1.
I checked the SMSC Number via the *#*#4636#*#* Numbercode.
When I load the current SMSC Number through this menu, I can see that the Number is wrong. But if I change the number manually, and click on the save button, my entry is not saved. Instead the wrong number stays in the memory.
Anyone knows what the problem is? And how can solve this issue?

i know its an ols problem, but how do i sort it. ive got the latest upgrades installed??
is it something simple, any help appreciated
More details
What is the actual problem? Can you see sender phone number, but NOT their name, even though they're in your contacts list?
If that's the problem you can install the Paragon SMS Name freeware app from http://www.penreader.com
The problem does not exist.
I got ROM version 3.17.03 ENG (special ROM v1.2 rules!!!) and names are correctly displayed when i receive an SMS (if the same name exists in the contacts list, of course).
But pay attention, because if the phone number in the contact list is saved without the international phone prefix (ie: for UK 181000000), when you receive an SMS your provider displays the number with the prefix (ie: +44181000000) and the number is not correctly recognised and the name not displayed...!!!

this program fixed it for me on win2002
and it dont matter that my contacts mobil phone dont have +45 first in the phone nr
mmm... it's a provider problem then, because if the problem has been fixed in my ROM version i guess it will be for late versions...

I can not send any text messages. Recieving messages are no problem. But when I want to answer or a make new massage, when I send, it says "Unable to send message after multiple attempts"
Any ideas on this?
EDIT:
I have it also with some other ROMs, only when I go back to stock ROM the problem is gone..
I'm currently on ChocolateEclair, had same issue with VanillaEclair 4.0 and MoDaCo 3.2.

I have the same problem since version 10 of villain... tried diff radios.. everything works except sms
I found the solution, at least it worked for me
Go to Messages, then press menu, preferences. Then you will see "Service Center Number" or something like that.
If it's blank, go to google and type the following:
-> "your provider here" Service Center number <-
If you find the number type it down under "Service Center Number".
After doing all that you should be done.

worked for me
Hi all.. I'm sorry for my english, it's not the best
My problem is this: from this morning my phone (x10 mini) can't send sms..when I try to send one it says that's impossible
I tryed a factory reset, then an update to last firmware..nothing.
When I try to change the SMSC (by dialing *#*#4636#*#*) it says "update error"
the strangeness is that if i try my sim card in another phone it works and if i try another sim card in my x10 mini..it works! It's strange because i used my sim in x10mini from november 2010 without problem..
can you help me please? I hope in you!!
thanks
Hi,
Go to default massager application - system "Conversations", and hit "Menu" button. Select settings, and then choose to set number of Message Center. Set number of your carrier message center, and save. I'm pretty sure that will help in your case.
EDIT: Sorry, didn't read through your post. That is a strange problem.
Nothing? :-(

Hi all.. I tried everything but SMS doesn't work..
is there an app to manage SMSC that I can replace?
I'm having the same problem. It just holds the "sending" state and never sends the sms.
Solved:
1. Open your dialler and dial: *#*#4636#*#*.
2. From the menus which appear, select Phone Information.
3. Scroll down to SMSC.
4. Enter the SMS centre number given by your provider in this box.
5. Select Update.

Hello (excuse me my english is not very good)
I have a Samsung Galaxy S I9000
Yesterday I install MIUI 2.3.5
My IMEI was corrupted but I restore my backup with efsrestore and it's OK, everything works fine except SMS
I can't send SMS
I try a lot of configuration for my provider and each time fail
I try to manually enter SMS server phone number, I go to SMS advanced settings and I type in the text field +33660003000 and by pressing on OK button system says server not responding and a few second later the com.android.phone crash and restart.
I search in what file on android system are stored provider settings for trying to write directly the SMS phone number in the file.
Is this possible ?
if yes where is this file and can I edit with kate because I'm under Kubuntu on my computer
Thanks a lot to everyone.
