Market installs the apps in /data/app and after installation it removes the temp installation files..
So is there no way to copy those .apk files before they are deleted ????
The apk is in /data/app just backup that one if you have to. The apk in that directory can be used over and over again to install on any phone you want.
I searched through astro but nothing is there in that directory ??????????????
The folder needs to be accessed with root permissions.
Via ADB shell or i believe there is an application called root explorer which does it with UI.
Astro, tools, backup - works for me
Thanks very much.....
One problem with this is, you only get common file names like
downloadfile-1.apk and so on. you wont get the app name on the file name. so everytime you copy it you have to run it and see what app that is.
That is one down matter. other than that its ok!

[Q] Sideloading Archiving and Unarchiving?

I've only started trying to sideload after only being rooted with the CWM Root.. I've watched the tutorials from Albert on Youtube and have read numerous posts on here on sideloading, If I'm only missing a program or something I'm gonna be a little embarrassed but right now I can't seem to get any APK to install on my NT..
So far I have downloaded the ES File Explorer, I've sent my APK files over to a file that I have created to store them and have tried to open them using the ES File Explorer, and I keep getting the same error ("Unable to Install" This application was not able to instal on your device. Please "Archive" and then "Unarchive" the application to try again.) Then my APK file is no longer on my tablet.. I have to reload it from the PC and try again.. with the same results.
Also I have tried the download method for the APK files in which he showed with the same error and results..
If you have seen this and is easy I applogize for the incovenience, but I have been unable to find this on the forums..
Thank you Much..
You are opening it with the wrong package installer, B&N has their own package installer, and it's being opened with that instead of the Android one.
The bigger problem is once it's viewed as "incompatible" it's deleted by B&N's so it would need to be put back on the device.
Your default may be set incorrectly if you don't get a prompt to ask which package installer.

That would make sense that I'm opening it with the wrong installer. Where am I going to find the other package installers and set them as my default??
Also I've Downloaded APK installers from the Android Market and hae tried those as well but getting incompatible errors with those as well..

[Q] How to open app from browser?

Hello I'm trying to fix my phone because I was deleting the junk from T-Mobile but it seems that i deleted something important so I don't have Launcher.
I tried to open the browser, download Go Launcher ex.apk and install it but my phone says the file cannot be open, so my 2nd plan was to download it direct from Play, so I open the browser and want to install but it says I need to open the Play app, anyone know if its posible to open an app from a link or install and apk from the computer to the phone like on Nokia Ovi Suite?
Any help would be appreciated
You need to enable non-market sources in the system settings.
If you do not have a file manager, you can install an .apk 2 ways
In browser, type "file:///path-to-file/file.apk"
Through adb "adb install path-to-apk"
