[Q] MiniCM (2.1.5) (not pro) battery life - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi everyone,
I've been running MiniCM 2.1.5 (nAa -06)for a few months now and it runs pretty fine and it's very nice to have Gingerbread and so on.
But I'm very disappointed with battery life and I don't see why it is so bad.
I understand the MiniCM should have similar if not better battery life than stock (2.1) firmware but I don't see how this can be achieved.
I always used to have 2G/3G enabled, and with stock ROM my battery would last up to 5 days with minimal usage. With MiniCM I don't get over 2 days. With normal (low) usage, my battery now lasts about 30 hours.
When the battery is empty after a minimal usage cycle, I have something like 49% cell standby, 45% phone idle and a few % display, which basically means I'm not doing anything with the phone and there's no app running in the background etc.
Switching to 2G only (and other famous battery saving tips) will give me some extra hours, but still nowhere near stock battery life (with 3G/2G all the time).
I have no tasks running that should drain battery,
I have also wiped battery stats (using the BatteryCalibration app) with no noticable effect. My voltages are displayed between 4.15(100%) and 3.65(0%) . Shouldn't it drain down to 3.2?
What are your mini battery lives?
What are your voltages at 100% / 0% battery?
How to make MiniCM last as long as stock ROM?

I never get any more than 14 hours on Flame.GDX, also on MiniCM7pro I got roughly 12 hours.
I dont think theres alot you can do. JuiceDefender an apps like it may be able to help you find an hour or two longer
Sent from my U20i using XDA App

I have returned to stock 2.1 after a lot of experimenting.
I have tried:
- MiniCM7 2.1.5-7 with nAa
- GingerDX with nAa
- MiniCM6 1.0.2 with stock kernel
I have found that all of them use a lot of battery, though i can not see why.
They will all result in ~<50h standby, while stock 2.1 can reach ~100h.
I wonder if this is some SE secret, or if one can achieve this with custom rom, too.

[Q] whats the best battery effective kernel?

this is the only reason i hate CM7. it drains battery like hell. yes, im already using "conservative" cpu governor and have JuiceDefender installed.
when i was on the stock LG rom, battery life used to be about 3-3.5 days on normal usage. after flashing with CM7 (the latest stable version), i need to charge it every night. if i do a lot of net surfing, battery will last for only 15 hrs.
is there some other gingerbread rom with which i can get back the normal battery life?
ive never tried this rom but ive read that rjtchn's cm7 has good battery life. the last time i checked his rom isnt on xda but u can google his rom

First, you can go back to Froyo by flashing the stock ROM through KDZ. But all your data would be wiped out. Take backups.
And regarding battery backup, I think 25 hours of battery backup on moderate-heavy usage is fine. I'm not sure whether we can get 3 days on froyo with the same usage. I didnt use froyo much as I immediately rooted my phone and flashed CM7 based ROMs.
On Andy's ROM with Andy's kernel, I can get 25 to 30 hours with heavy usage, with 6 hours of sleeping period in between. So it is 20-24 hrs of almost constant heavy usage.
void. #forever
I'm using void. #forever with Franco's v18 BFS kernel.
I had 2 days & 20 hours with moderate calls, SMS & browsing. I think I could have reached 3 days until an exercise app surprisingly kept my phone awake & drained the remaining battery.
Using GB 2.3.3 - at the moment for testing purposes GingerCriccoROM 1.2 and latest Franco GB kernel. 3G data always on, sync on, (fb, twitter, gmail, email etc. autom. check every 30min.) Calls, sms, browsing, pretty heavy use and i got after first full charge and battery stats wipe 1d 14h - still 6% left. OC 480/729 smoothass. Still testing - at the moment i have 30% battery left after 1d and 7h.
i run void #forever and franco kernel
it usually last about 2 days on average (48+hr), i dont use the phone functions that much, mostly just browsing the news and sometimes GPS when i get lost out there, but i keep wifi/background/sync always on since i rely on gmail/gtalk/gvoice heavily
horrible battery life
flashed rjtchn's cm7 just now. And havent even restored backups yet. And as I surf on xda now on my wifi, battery is decreasing by 1% every 2 mins in front of my eyes.... it was 100% at 5.35pm and its 89 at 6.04pm now..... WTH is happening? Also to mention, I had bought my phone only a month ago with incredible battery till I started flashing Roms...
I'm using. Rover theme. Does that have. Anything to do with battery?
I had wiped battery Stat when my phone was in 100%, then I flashed the rom, rebooted, and then connected to USB mass storage for 20 mins to do transfers. ( it got charged again). Anything wrong in this process?

I am wrestling with battery life. Not being able to run 24hrs on one charge seems silly to me.
To use some round numbers, from best to worst given my standard usage patterns: {0}
48 hrs (2% per hr drain) -- stock LG 2.2 ROM rooted, crapware removed, SetCPU onDemand 122-600. Consistently runs 48hrs on a full charge.
24 hrs (4% per hr drain) -- stock ROM as it came out of the box.
18 hrs (5-6% per hr) -- CM7 RC1 unchanged. It seems closer to 5% per hour when I set onDemand in CM perf settings to 122-600 and tore out the launcher (using the delightful Zeam instead)
I can go to sleep with my OptT on the bedstand and wake up 8 hrs later and it's dropped from 100% to 60%.
I did do a brief test of Void forever and like the cleanliness of it. But development appears to be ended so no hope of BT working well or battery optimization. If I had an extra T500/509 I'd send it to the dev so he could continue testing. I did run it for a few hours but after I tested BT I didn't have the heart to go install all my crap on it for extensive testing. {EDIT: going to try it out today and see if I can hit 48hrs with it}
I am a big CM fanboi so I would love to hang in there with Mik until BT and battery are better. I mentioned battery drain in a (pre-CM7RC1) thread once and it was not well received, so I haven't mentioned it again until this thread.
If BT and battery don't eventually get improved (and I assume they will) I'll stick with the stock, rooted ROM.

i checked. the only "app" having max. usage is android system . and it is a fresh flash. i had formatted the sd card also. and i dont use mobile data or gps, i use only wifi. and im not on a 3g network (because my operator hasnt even launched 3g ).
now the time here is 9:22pm and batt. is 63%. the only thing i did was surfing and mail checking on wifi.

Same here! Just remember to change the governer to sth like on-demand or conservative!
Well... reading you guys talking about 2-3 days of battery life makes me think that I'm either doing something wrong, or my battery is a bit damaged, 'cause the only way I could think my Optimus One would last for 2-3 days would be with no use at all.
I got this phone from a friend who had owned for only 2 months and the phone was already rooted and with a custom ROM already installed (Light 2.2.2 which is fairly close to stock). With that ROM the battery would last for a day max.
Shortly after I started installing other custom ROMs and testing them:
- Devoid Froyo Final: The most responsive ROM I've tried, but I had horrible battery life with it, with only around 18 hours of bat with moderate use and 3G on.
- OpenOptimus: Seems a bit laggy to me, and battery life was not even better than Devoid's
- LOL 1.4.2: I finally settled with this one. The ROM is pretty responsive (although not as snappy as Devoid) and at least with this one I can have a full day of battery life (sometimes a bit more).
I must say that I always keep an eye on apps running in the background and stop those I know I don't need always running. I also use Titanium Backup to "Freeze" apps that I know I won't use on a daily basis (like Google Maps and Navitel GPS).
The other thing I'd like to mention is that I keep GPS off (unless I specifically need it), but I always have data ON, either via Wifi when I'm at home, or 3G when I'm out of home. My Wifi Sleep Setting is set to "Never".
The only two apps that I know are working regularly on my phone are:
K9 Mail: Receiving mails for 5 Gmail accounts (all configured as PUSH so that shouldn't drain much battery)
Whatsapp: Receiving messages from friends and family, but that app is also PUSH so battery drain should be minimal also.
Overnight drain with Wifi On is about 5%
What do you guys think?
BTW... probably during this week I'll flash one of the 2.3.3 based ROMS (GingerLOL). I hope that being a "LOL" Rom it would be as stable as my current one.
Not a long test, but I did put all my apps back onto void #forever for an apples to apples test.
Set it on my nightstand and we both slept for 6 hrs. 100% down to 66% in 6hrs, for a drain rate of 5.7% per hour. Gack.
I suspect the real killer is the broken CM7 bluetooth stack in our devices at the moment, but since I use my phone gets used as a wireless mp3 player most of the time I really need it. When CM7 for OptT gets a fix for BT I think It will be nearly perfect for my needs.

Void #forever is truly the best rom I have ever tried.... The best thing on it is that its "void" and u can choose which stock aps to install. Thnx a lot guys for recommending me this rom.
Rjtchn's rom had better performance. Quadrant score was 1005 without overclocking(i don't remember the exact). Void's score is 840. But it has incredible battery.
Its the first rom I have ever seen with cell standby having the max bat. usage on 2g network. (all others had android system). That means just by putting on flight mode, things would go even better

It's a balance issue, I guess.
I was researching another issue and so set my phone (as described below) down for 20hrs 23mins and it is now at 84% battery. 23.3hrs / 16% battery usage = ~0.75% per hour.
Compare that with 5-6% an hour I was getting with CM7 on the bedstand. I suggest that CM7RC1 is , despite it's general wonderfulness, not providing 6x the performance for 6x the battery drain.
I am a CM faboi and have done the "buy Cyanogen a beer" thing on his site. I eagerly await CM7 going gold for our devices, and I hope the battery/performance balance is on parity.

[Q] What is your battery life like for WB V3.5+?

Hi guys,
I'm just interested in knowing if my battery life is normal. I read on GSM-Arena that X10 should have 400+ stand-by time, but according to my battery consumption overnight (no wifi, no data), my battery can only standby for around 100 hours on 2G.
Here's a screenshot of the battery usage throughout today. I practically didn't use my phone for the first half of the day.
Does this look normal for my WB V3.6 ROM? Please share your experience with me and let me know your version of ROM.
My battery life was miserable when I was using WB v006. I had to recharge my phone about twice a day on normal usage. I don't have a screenshot for that. Right now I can listen to MP3 for 10 hours no problem on WB V3.6.
Since yesterday evening I'm on WB's 3.7 (features). Since end of July I'm on WB's GB ROM and my battery life is quite well.
During night in flight mode and without wifi I loose nearly nothing (8 hours). Yesterday I used the phone the whole day quite often and within 24 hours the battery went from 100% to 20%.
Charging once a day is ok for me now. Before, on Trip's MIUI FROYO, it was even better. 30 hours without charge was normal.
if u want more battery life jus turn off the bravia engine and it will give even more backup !!! i did this yesterday and i normally use around 60% brightness with 3g network and listen to music jus for half and hour ..so used for around 17 hrs or so but still with 65 % left ... i jus turned off the bravia engine so its giving even more battery !!
Hope it works for you too !!
Thank me if it helped u !!
I will try that. Thanks! I don't really need BRAVIA anyways.

My battery drains 5% or less during overnight (1am-8am). I'm using an Xperia X10i on CM7-ZMOD CYANOGENMOD 7.
I don't know if I should but I haven't used Juicedefender Ultimate since using this mod. My Android is 2.3.5 on this mod.

Battery life

Hi,
I am having some strange problems with my Beloved Atrix.
When i switch back to froyo (any version 2.2.1 or 2.2.2) my battery life is gr8 without any battery calibration but when i flash GB no matter what i do Battery drops like stone.
I flashed almost every ROM out there and kernel (under clocked and under volted too) etc no use
Not even set Cpu can make my phone go thorough one whole day with normal usage.
have you tried using an app called "battery calibration"?
Try CM7 if thefunction u need work after 18 hours of moderate use got 48% battery left

Now almost all ROMs are fixed about battery drain. If you take one of the last version of recent ROMs you you should not have battery drain

IM using minicm7 pro v17 , alot of battery drain , but ginger dx fine
I'm using minicm7 pro with no battery drain
don't forget to turn off bluetooth, wifi off with the ''never turn off'' governor ans turn the data off when you don't use it
It would be a god's phone if no battery draining, so we just charge the phone once and never plug it in again in the charger for the rest of our life just kidding.
so for the rom with slow battery draining, I should agree with above comments, mostly have a good battery drain at the moment (latest version of MiniCM7 Pro, GDX and GinTonic, all is ginger bread), MiniCM7 Pro seem has a worse bat drain, because several app that need data transmission runs in background without our permission, as long you always turn of 3G & Data traffic when not using it, it would be fine.

[Q] Xperia X10 Mini Pro poor battery life

Hello every one,
I am facing poor battery life with my x10 mini pro. Even I had my battery replaced recently. But still, the battery life is just about the same.
I tried following things...
1. Turning down the brightness down.
2. Turning off the data, background sync, 3g
3. Uninstalling the apps that runs on background
4. Deleting battery stats after installing new ROM (CM7 2.2.0)
I typically use my phone for 1hour of calls, 30mins of browsing, 1hour music playback, <20mins of gaming. And the battery will be drained in less than 8 hours.
And, another weird thing is, the battery fills up very very fast. It will take like 25mins to get to 100% from <15%.
Please, guide me what to do. This has been a serious head ache for me. Will flashing back to Eclair, Donut will solve the issue?
Thanks.

I am having the exact same problem!
I suggest flashing back to MiniCM7-2.1.9, my battery life was REALLY good on that version. But I updated to v2.2.0 yesterday and now I have the same battery problem as you. The rom does run faster and I also noticed a few bugs fixed, such as the keyboard light, but battery life is just really bad for me.
If u dont use dsp manager then remove it,because many users hve reported that dsp manager drains battery
Install battery dr saver from market
It has option of full cycle charge for charging battery properly

Done that already, still the same. Already know about Battery Dr Saver, but I don't think it helps this problem.
I also installed Badass Battery Monitor, it's really detailed and shows a lot of info. It's showing that the display is using up the most battery, but I have it idle most of the time.........
agree!
at least someone or two has same problem with me.
i just flashed cm7 2.2.0 over these 2 weeks.
well i noticed the battery drain alot faster than stock eclair.
i'm looking forward to see the solution...

done that already too, except I use smartassv2 governor and my max is just stock speed at 600mhz.
I basically applied every tweak that I could find from every topic, and believe me they do work, on v2.1.9 at least.
It seems that most people have the same problem on v2.2.0, the radio somehow keeps draining battery. I noticed that it used up 33% for no reason, whereas on v2.1.9 it was around 2%.
BTW I dunno if it makes a difference if I use smartassv2 or interactiveX, but most people said that smartassv2 is better since that's what nAa uses, so it's more compatible. I don't think changing the governors matter though, I've used Badass Battery Monitor for 3 days in a row now and it shows none of the apps are draining power. Even using Android Assistant shows that my phone is idle 94% of the time, where the System uses 4% CPU and User uses 2% CPU. So I do believe it's gotta do with the radio, somehow this rom isn't using the kernel that well I think.
Then it wil be good idea to stick to 2.1.9

I suggest going back to CM7 2.1.9. It's very stable for me and battery drain is so low that my phone can last almost a week on standby without much usage, it's great!
I would stay away from CM9 for now, and wait until it's more stable. So far, I've read that many people are experiencing a few bugs here and there, so I would wait until after a few new version releases and try it out then.

well, if you're using CM9 or CM7, you have no choice but to use the nAa kernel.......unless you're asking which kernel version, otherwise you pretty much don't have a choice.
I'm pretty sure it's not the kernel either, CM7 2.2.0 drains a lot more battery compared to CM7 2.1.9. They both use the same kernel, so it has nothing to do with that.
i used cm7 2.1.9 and i got 4 hours battery life, with wifi off, 3g off, and all i did was txt thru whatsapp with 2g and i was at the movies for 2 hours anyway, and no its not my battery cause i bought another one, still the same thing im getting frustrated ! gonna try original kernel and rom

that's really odd, my phone running CM7 2.1.9 can last for 3 days easily if I just use it for txting. I'm using nAa-11 kernel, and haven't had a problem with it......maybe try to flash the kernel and rom again?

I suggest going back to CM7 2.1.9. It's very stable for me and battery drain is so low that my phone can last almost a week on standby without much usage, it's great!
I would stay away from CM9 for now, and wait until it's more stable. So far, I've read that many people are experiencing a few bugs here and there, so I would wait until after a few new version releases and try it out then.

I installed cm9 mini, but phone was lagging and battery life was poor. Now i installed cm7 mini 2.2.1 and it runs a lot better than cm9, but like most of you say, i also have the battery drain issue...; during 9hours of sleep my phone lost 30% of battery that's really enoying. Stock 2.1 SE rom loses about 7% during 9 hours of sleep.
So most of you recomand the 2.1.9 instead of 2.2.1? And which kernel should i use? Is there a possibility that the kernel i use (ana 14 ) drains the battery so fast? if i install 2.1.9 should i use the ana 14 kernel, or a lower version?
thx
