I've searched, with no success, and so I ask here... I have installed groove ip and logged in to my Google voice acct on my stock GB Flyer. My contacts show up but when I attempt a call, and the app dials, and connects but then immediately closes the dialer. NO error or force close or anything. It just closes... I Any suggestions for troubleshooting this?
Before you are able to make calls you must do the following:
Settings < Troubleshooting < Enable Wifi Tablet
Sent from my HTC Flyer running WestfireROM Flyer v1.4 | v1.36.1540.32 US WIFI DeOdexed | 2.3.3 | GB
Thanks for the suggestion, I got it worked out. I had to make the Google voice forward calls to Gmail. I didn't have the option to just check the box in the voice settings through Google originally. I had to install the dialer on my desktop and make a call from gmail and then the box was there to Check.

So I installed shed's version of cm7 yesterday and was tinkering around with settings today. I saw there is now under settings->call settings an option for internet calling with a spot to set up a sip account. Using SIPDroid I had previously setup my phone to make calls through my google voice number. Is this function now built in and if so can someone help walk me through how to do it?
edit: found this post but still no instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11064243
tried to set it up with this information
# Server Address: pbxes.org
# Account Name: Your PBXes Username
# Password: Your PBXes Password
but when i tried to call, it says number unreachable.
I'd love to know how to do this too!
I read somewhere (sorry, can't find the link) that this is only available on T-Mobile... since shed's build uses CM7 code for the Nexus S, the option shows up but is dead on the Eris.

I use Google Voice's free phone service. PBXes is only a PBX service that integrates multiple phone line to multiple extensions. It does not provide phone service.
Here's what to do. Goto voice.google.com and get a free number/service. Download and install Sipdroid (a free PBXes sip client) and integrate your new number. Sipdroid will allow free and easy setup to integrate Google Voice with PBXes, and you can add more extensions later when needed.
Once setup, uninstall Sipdroid and program those credentials into Internet Calling. It will register and provide inbound and outbound calling via WiFi or data. Google Voice remains a free service through 2011.

using sipdroid, the little indicator in the taskbar turns green, but it tries to make a call and then immediately terminates before ringing. Maybe a problem with me or my phone. Perhaps a CM7 issue? I had SIPDroing working in froyo?\
edit: tried unistalling sipdroid and entering those credentials into internet calling, states "number unreachable"
You must have Google Chat selected as a Google Voice forwarding phone. Also, Google Chat must be set up to 'enable' outbound voice calling.
I got sipdroid to work GREAT on my de-activated eris. Now im going to use my retired eris as my home phone number
only thing is, I want to stop using the sipdroid app, but get the CM7 internet calling feature to work, but it wont let me use the sipdroid credentials? anyone successfully get the sipdroid accounts setup in CM7 and remove sipdroid? I've tried all kinds of settings basing off the sipdroid account settings they all give me Account Registration errors?
Hey guys,
I installed GV on my phone (previously working fine on my OG Evo) and text messages are still not coming thru GV, they are coming thru the HTC app.
**I ported my Sprint # to be my GV # **
Steps i've done so far
1. Uninstalled GV
2. Unchecked my Number in the gv web app
3. Re-checked my number in web app
4. Re-installed GV on phone
Still didn't work.
When i go to Menu > Settings > Calls For selecting my Voicemail Provider, GV doesn't show up as an option, it just lists "My Carrier". I'm sure this is a sign that something isn't setup right.
Am i missing something? Any ideas?
Thank you!
John
Your going to have to visit Google.com/voice
I'm trying to use the native SIP function on my photon by adding SIP accounts in internet call settings menu. I can add the accounts and it says that it is registering fine but whenever I try to dial a number using a SIP account, the dialer FC's. This happens to both a pbxes.org account and my home freePBX server account. Is this happening to anyone else? I was able to use this function without a problem on the Evo 3D which I won't be going back to...
I'd rather not install SipDroid if I can just use androids native features instead.
Same issue here..have to use SIPDroid.

Also same problem ...havent tried puting SIPDroid back on....
I believe the dialer on this phone has some major issues. I am blaming it full on for the reboots that we are having. It seems to have issues with WIFI and it could be linked to the SIP issue. I think Moto did something to the dialer that screwed it up.
You can try groovip if you have a google voice number. It allows you to make voipcalls through 3g/4g/wifi.
Same with my wife's phone... I tried adding a sip account (from viopstunt) and it force closes as soon as the dialer launches. The phone is completely stock, never rooted. I know she has had at least 2 updates since we got it about a month ago. Gonna try sipdroid or something else and see. Mobile VOIP (the one from viopstunt) seems to work, but no voice when connectected.
Any Way to make GrooveIP work on this tablet???
I would like to use some type of voip with this device. I need to be able to make calls if possible. Are there any hacks for this?
Sent from my HTC EVO View 4G Honeycomb Tablet, runing on the Now Network, (or my AT&T Home Router, lol).
It's working in Gingerbread
One of the first things I did, before HoneyComb OTA came out, was load my Google Voice app, from the market.
Then I loaded and opened Groove IP. I set it up to match up with my GV acct. and also set it up to load at device bootup.
The last thing was to go to my GV acct. via a browser and check the box to forward incoming calls to Google Chat.
Now I have incoming and outgoing call capability(when in a wifi connection).
I either use a headset or hold my ear to the bottom speaker(back of unit).
i didn't have any problems installing it. Works perfect synched up with GV
Groove IP has always worked perfectly for me on the Flyer, both GB and now HC Roms.
My View just says "Please try again." Then I get three beeps. Then the call discontinues.
What do I do?
Do you have Google voice installed? That is required
Hello everyone,
I am rooted and locked runinng MOF 2.3.5 ish v2.0.
Yesterday AM I started receiving an error (unable to send text) when trying to send texts through GO SMS. I also received the same error when using the stock messaging app. Then I discovered I was also not receiving texts. I can send and receive texts through Google Voice. I integrated my Google number with Sprint several months ago. I had made no changes to Google voice settings, or my text settings in several months. This just came out of the blue.
I tried restoring a backup from Titanium, that did not work. I tried de-linking Google voice from my phone and that did not work. I uninstalled GO SMS- still nothing. I have since re-linked Google voice to my Sprint # as it is the only way I have of receiving my messages.
Today I called Sprint. After a few tests with no luck, they instructed me to accept the OTA 2.3.5 update. They claim that one of the issues fixed in this OTA update was a fix of this "known issue with SMS". I told them I did not want to do that because it would perma lock my boot loader. They also suggested having them de-link Google Voice from my Sprint #. They said that if they de-linked Google Voice, I would not be able to re-link Google voice to my number later and that was a "known issue" with Google.
So, I have 3 options...
1) Keep it as is until upgrade time, but of course Google Voice does not have MMS support. And Google Voice leaves a lot to be desired with SMS threading and customization.
2) Take the OTA upgrade and "hope" it solves my texting issue, but of course that opens another can of worms with the bootloader.
3) Have them de-link Google Voice and hope that works. However, I enjoy having one number when I travel, etc. And if it doesn't work, according to them I wont be able to re-sync and then I will not have any access to my texts.
Has anyone else ran into this issue? I didnt see the exact issue in a Google search.
Thanks in advance
I also use Google voice to manage/backup my voicemails and texts remotely. I hate the google voice app. I only use it in it rare situations where I have no signal and no roaming available, but have wifi.
This has happened to me a couple times, I'll notice my gvoice has texts that my phone never received via SMS.
What is your preffered network set to? I've noticed my prefered network mode changes mysteriously on this phone. I'll just set it back normal and all my missed sms come flooding in.

Thanks for the reply. I normally set to automatic. I just checked and it was changed to any cmda. I will play with the options and see if that helps. Thanks again.
type in *#*#4636#*#* on the phone dialer

Hello, it was on CDMA Auto (prl). What do you generally set yours on for domestic use?
Your answer got me thinking. Saturday afternoon I removed a sim card from another country because I was here in the us and didn't need it. So when I got home I put the sim card back in and switched network to automatic and then all my texts arrived. Thanks again
