Apple iPhone vs Android - Motorola Photon 4G

I found this article on Steve Wozniak VERY interesting. If you don't know who he is, he is the Co-Founder of Apple. When you think Apple, you first think Steve Jobs, but Wozniak was right there all along. Anyway, when he says he likes his Andriod better then his iPhone, thats one mighty kick into Apples balls!!

Good read, the author was good in refrencing to Woz's honest opion's of the two devices.

It's good to see an unbiased article like that one. Everywhere you see now there is always a bias towards the iPhone. The iPhone is not a bad device, but it is too locked down for my tastes...

The iPhone is an excellent device no doubt about that but it just needs a bigger screen. Once apple upgrades to at least a 4" or 5" screen instead of a 3.5" it will be unstoppable. I love android more of course but I think both os's have their pros and cons. I'd honestly say at this current state they're pretty equally matched even with ice cream sandwich rolling out. iPhone's just work out the box and the battery is amazing it's crazy, android has the killer customization that iPhone doesn't have and I like that too!

I really appreciate him admiring the iPhone's attraction to a more casual crowd.
Yeah they are great phones for the people that need stuff to be simple and straight forward. That's by no means a bad thing. But I like to have the option of complexity if I desire it. The iPhone can only get so complex whereas Android devices can be endlessly complex if modded the right way.
That's just my 2cents.

Very Interesting article. I especially like the part about Siri not being able to used when it cannot reach an internet signal. Im currently on a business trip with my father and he has the iphone 4s and he repeatedly tried to have Siri call one of his employees while we were on the road. All she did was apoligize that she could not complete the action. All Siri is really good for is a party trick. I would take my android any day over his Iphone.

I love reading articles like that. It's funny to talk to die-hard iPhone fans because all they do is say "Well, my phone is still better." They'll take it to the grave that the iPhone is the best phone on the market, but when it comes to people that really matter and look at both products and see where Android succeeds over iOS (Woz), it just makes every iPhone fanboy sound stupid.

Which Phones Will You Get?

So phone season's coming around and we have a good idea of the phones that will come to sprint. I'm wondering what phones you would get if/when you dump the Evo 3D.
-Galaxy Nexus
-SGSIII
-HTC OneX
If your are going to get a different phone, please tell us which it is in the comments.
Personally, I'd want the Galaxy SIII, but I've had nothing but good experiences with HTC (heh, misspelled THC the first time) so I might go for the OneX. Plus, a lot about the OneX seems pretty good.

If Apple wasn't so obsessed with having their OS all over their products, and the iPhone also had an android version, I would be all over that.
I think iOS is smooth and overall great, but it just feels too limited for me to use. Even after jailbreaking, you still feel like the whole OS is just an app drawer.

right now its looking like the one x for me......unless I get wind if another powerhouse coming. One x rumored June so I'm going with the best available at that time so one x it is.

I was also kind of disgusted with how apple conducts itself as a company and the pervasive culture of elitism in the iOS community didn't strike me as cool either.

This. 1000 times this.
The customization and community/developer support makes the possibilities endless for Android. iPhone has some great things but you still can't change the default look and feel of iOS. I get bored with looking at the same thing all the time.
Firstly, I've chosen the Android over iOS simply because Android OS is smarter as we all call smartphone. How is it smarter? We all know.
Secondly, variety of choices, more options.
Thirdly, it's cheaper.
And to OP, "Droid" and android are two different things. Droid as you capitalize the letter D, is a phone. Start using correct terminologies.
Switched to Android after WM 6.5 was declared dead. Didn't care for the backwards direction I saw WP7 heading.

I use Android because of the ability to do so much customizing without needing to void the warranty. I carried a myTouch 3G and iPhone3G at the same time for a number of months (almost a year). Normally, I agree with you. If HTC starts willy-nilly suing Apple over ridiculous things then yeah, they're no better. However this was a counterclaim against a specific lawsuit that Apple filed against HTC. Basically it's a counterclaim for the court to "take back" what they first said. If indeed the article is correct about it being a counter claim, that is.

I don't take issue with what HTC is doing. I just find it hilarious how XDA users find it to be acceptable that HTC is responding with a lawsuit, seeing as a lawsuit started this whole thing.
I note with interest the top post of this page; "i hope Android takes over iOS".
So, we want competition, but we want the competition to be gone. We don't want Apple fighting the battle with lawsuits, we want the battle to be fought with innovation and good ideas, but when HTC fights with lawsuits, we applaud them as though it's some sort of "revenge". We demonize iOS but fail to realize we wouldn't have Android the way it is without Apple.
...
Am I the only one who sees how ridiculous this is? Probably, I tend to get filed away as an Apple fanboy though, you watch, someone will say that about this post.
I suppose in the average XDA user's mind, we're all soldiers in some epic war, and we need to constantly "rattle the troops" as if we're trying to keep up morale against the big bad Apple.
When in reality, you're just some guy that bought an Android device and you happen to like Android enough that you'll root your phone and flash a different ROM.

No trolling!! Thinking about moving to iPhone?. I really like the design since the iPhone 4. I love big phones phablets. I love android I'm a neutral. But recently Apple's new gold iPhone caught my attention, not just the design but updated internals, I know I know, overpriced. Not as open as phones. But is it really bad to try something new, see if they really talk true about how perfect the iPhone is? Please no trolling. I recently was offered an iPhone 5 64gb in trade for my ultra. Lol, I mean yes. Restrictive and small. But games and apps are more popular and big names like Disney and stuff like that, my daughter likes to play and not much of that is available on android.

If you're not feeling the borders of restrictions due to your way of usage, then its just about the screensize. So if you want a way to use the apps, then go for an iPad Mini.
Gives you the best of both worlds.
Disney option for your daughter, and a good phone (XZU) for you.

There is nothing wrong or bad about the iPhone. It is the best out of the box solution for most people. No need to add apps or do more than minimal set up. It works and works well. Not for me though-I like big screen, customization, variety of apps and the ability to experiment. Android is less defined and more challenging-a tinge of excitement in an otherwise mundane landscape.
Android is more defined and less challenging than ever-it's losing its edge. With CyanogenMod going corporate, hopefully someone new will step into the captain's chair and boldly go where no one has gone before. We are talking Smart watches, Google glass, flexible phones and credit card phones that slip into your wallet. Maybe a phone implant with your hand as the dial pad? What about a phone you never touch? Sounds like something Steve Jobs would like to do. After all, Android fell from the Apple tree.

Weird, Android was created 4 years before IPhone and by a team of 4 people who never worked for Apple.
This is a really personal matter. But if you like phablet, you have the best of it in your hands. The guy who offer you an iPhone 5 against your XZU know what he is doing. He would be all winner.

Urm, sorry, but android was only in beta in 2007, not released publicly until 2008, iOS was mainstream in 2007. And Eric Schmidt came from Apple. Just setting some facts straight.
I think for a child's needs, iPhone is a lot more suitable. Has better security and apps. But agree with above poster, get her an Ipad and keep the ZU for yourself!

Android was actually meant to power printers back in the days, and then they concentrated on making it into a smartphone OS - but with physical buttons like a good ol' Blackberry. Then when the iPhone got released, they scrapped all of that and went with the touchscreen experience. A smart move, but Android wasn't the first touch friendly OS.
But let's not make this thread into a flame thread. OP is curious and is thinking about jumping ship. I was an iPhone users before I got a Desire HD, and it was "fine". iOS is an okay OS for what it is, but I quickly grew tired of its restrictive nature. I jailbroke and what not, but let me tell you that things that isn't "native" to iOS ("widgets", and other springboard mods) ran like complete ****. If you want a simple and straight forward experience, then iOS is the perfect solution. I've recommended the iPhone to a lot of friends who only send SMS' and do simple things. If you're an advanced user that likes to modify and actually DO stuff with your device, it'll be hell on earth.
If you want a PHONE, get an iPhone. If you want a flexible DEVICE, keep the Ultra.

Let me know your thoughts guys. Thanks

I dig apple products. I own pretty much every apple products, except for the iphone. I had the first gen up to 4s. I needed big screen phone because of poor vision..hence the Note1. But now im a much happier camper with zu.
Iphone5 for the ZU? Heck NO. 5s maybe.
I very like iPhone 5s hardware specs...it's sick....nothing to say.
To each of us their own... I'm quite happy with the Ultra, could be perfect if Sony fixes the SOD. Nevertheless I was playing with the 5S yesterday and it's silky smooth, couldn't avoid imagining it with a bigger screen... But that doesn't exist, so far there is no perfect device but at least we have plenty of options.

Yes. That's what I'm saying. The iPhone has an amazing design and the internals are eye candy. I would go with like a 32gb since no sd slot. I see the iPhone as a more professional device.

Well i've had every iphone except the 5s. I've had both notes 1 and 2. And now the Xperia Z Ultra. You will love the iphone at first then you will very soon grow tired of it and the small screen an come back to android.
