[Q] Voice Navigation Not Working in Car Dock - Motorola Photon 4G

This started a couple weeks ago, not sure if it was associated with a Google Maps update or not. I tried to delete and reinstall, no luck.
The audio works fine for Google Nav when not in the car dock. It worked fine for months in the dock, just quit working one day. The only thing I've changed are regular app updates.
Any ideas?

[Q] samsung desk dock and audio output

I bought on of the fancy desktop docks for my samsung vibrant... after reading the simple instructions on how it works yada yada... it simply says that the audio output on the dock will not work until they release a 2.2 rom... so what im wondering is why i cant for the life of me see any settings to switch it on in my jk6 rom or have they just not gotten around to implementing audio through the usb yet? and does anyone know if there is a mod to get it to work?
Nobodys had an issue like this yet?
I just received the official car and desk docks today (ordered from Samsung mobile accessories page).
I'm running FROYO.UVJK2 (Kernel 2.6.32.9).
When I put the phone in the car dock, a "Car Mode Activated" icon (looks like a steering wheel) shows up in the task bar. The 3.5mm audio jack on the back of the dock does not output audio (Bluetooth Audio works fine). Also, the "Car Home" app does not launch like I would have hoped (I downloaded this from the Market as it was not installed with this build).
The desk dock does even less than that. When I put the phone in the desk dock, there is no indication that its docked at all. The charging port does work, but like the car dock, the 3.5mm jack does nothing (apparently).
There was a small red sticker on the back of the car dock that said that the 3.5 mm "headphone jack" would only work with Android 2.2 and later.
I'm hoping to have the same experience I had with my Nexus 1 in the Google Car/Desk docks (automatically go into car/desk mode and audio ports become active).
I'll keep digging around and see if I can figure out whats going on .
Edits:
I should also add that I'm currently running LauncherPro with this build
Also, Perhaps this thread would get more interest if it was in the Accessories section?
Updated to jl5 and then to nero³ issues still exsist... why sell a product that doesnt work properly because of the lack of software support from your company.... and how does it know its a car dock as opposed to a normal charger?
With the car dock, the phone is definitely detecting the dock when it's connected. The "Car Mode" icon (Steering Wheel) appears on the notification bar. However, the Samsung "Car Home" app does not automatically launch.
The Desk Dock appears to be nothing more than a charging cradle. With the build I'm using now, the phone doesn't change modes in any discernable way, and when the phone is docked, and the dock is connected to the computer, it doesn't detect the device (although it does charge). I have to take the phone out of the cradle and connect the cable directly to get get a connection (Odin/Kies, etc...).
As far as getting the phone to go into 'Car Home' or "Desk Home", I found an app called "Locale" in the marketplace that shows a lot of promise for being able to have the phone change state based on various conditions (location, connections, orientation, app state,etc....). I have it working successfully using the car dock to have it launch Car Home (or whatever app you want). Unfortuantely, I'm not having the same luck with "Desk Home".
Locale is really amazing, but it is pricey ($9.99 US), and a lot of the functionality depends on user provided plugins (there are plenty.. some free, some about $1 US).
Back to the hardware. I'm happy with it generally, but frustrated that the audio jacks don't work. I can work around this in the car, as I can sync to my car stereo with bluetooth, but I would prefer to use the 3.5mm jack for many reasons.
I was going to try the Nero v.3 ROM today (still may) to see if that worked, but someone posted here that it wasn't working.
I'm wondering if this the dock support is something that has to be built into the ROM? Or is it part of the core? I'm guessing the latter.
It will be my luck that this will start working right about the time I order my Optimus X2 when it comes out
I'm using the dock with an international i9000 with firmware XXJPY and the standard media player does actually put out sound through the dock. My problem is I use spotify for my music which doesn't happen to do the same thing. Would there be anyway to force it to play through the usb audio out?
I use the dock with an unbranded, unlocked international GT-I9000. Could not get the Home Desk app to work, it would always crash with or without the dock (ver 1.0.1 available from mediafire.com - can't post the link since I'm a "new user" ). Then somebody passed on to me directly rev 1.0 of that app (can't find it anywhere on the net) and it all started to work. First I was on froyo 2.2 (XXJPA) and now I'm on froyo 2.2.1 (XXJPY) meaning:
- Home Desk app automatically kicks in when the phone is inserted into the dock
- Music does pass on to the dock audio jack but first must un-select the "Internal Speaker" option in the Home Desk app
- Works with the stock GT-I9000 player which is accessed via the Home Desk app Music icon (that icon appears to be hard wired to the stock player)
- Works with a third party player (I use PowerAMP) which can not be accessed via the Home Desk app Music icon - but there is a limitation
The limitation I see is that since the 3rd party player can not be invoked or accessed via the Home Desk app Music icon, one must exit the Home Desk app to get to the music controls (like volume since the hard buttons are covered by the dock!!!) - and during that time the sound cuts off from the external audio jack . The sound returns once the Home Desk app is invoked again (with the Android Home button). But when the Home Desk app Music icon is used to get to the stock player the sound does not cut off. Sounds like the Home Desk app has the sound integration via USB and so when it is not active the music cuts off. Unfortunately I know of no option that would redirect that icon to an alternate player. Maybe somebody can figure that out?
BTW – UI of the Home Desk app that I use (rev 1.0) looks different than UIs posted by others . See the attachments.
WhatISee and AsPostedByOthers:
the fix is here for the desk/car dock!!
So I have been waiting for this moment for months sense I purchased my Samsung desk dock and car dock...
For all that are wondering go to the market and seach for samsung car home and / or samsung desk home.
When you do you will see that there are now two apps that will appear for each app that will look the same.
tap on them and read the discription. one of the apps will say that it is Froyo compatible to fix audio.
download them, when you click on the app to open it> select the samsung car home not the google car home that so many of us Nero/Bionix users love ;(
when that opens you will see that there is now a icon on the top right part of the screen that has a picture of a speaker. Tap the icon and it will switch to the docks 3.5mm out put!
P.S. if you listen to other music players aside from the music saved on the phone ie. (pandora) start the car home app or desk home app and hit the home button go to apps and open the app you want to listen to. Wish they had allowed us to add apps to the apps home screen but this work around will do the trick until someone incorparates it into google car home..
If this helped you please hit the thanks button! and enjoy!
@lovemysgs - I don't see anything for Samsung Home/Car Desk in the market . Is it because my GT-I900 is unbranded?

What ROM are you using? I know that sometimes when I have flashed other ROMS the Dev has not or forgets to update market.
I am using Bionix V and it showed up there today.

Hm, I'm new to Android so be gentle. I did not do anything to the phone other than flash it to 2.2.1 via Kies. In About Phone it says:
Model: GT-I9000
Firmware: 2.2.1
Baseband: I9000XXJPY
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build: FROYO.XXJPY

The dock has a 3.5 jack on the back. Sound is piped to it via phone's USB but only if the Home Desk app is running with the "Internal Speaker" option deselected (must have froyo as well). I don't think however that this works for phone functions, I think that it only works for music.
Just got my official one today, sitting at my desk trying it out. After a little saying "please" (and removing the Google Car Home that I loved), I got it to work, and gmail notifications are coming through the 3.5 mm on the dock.
I went into the market and downloaded the "Car Home Samsung Vibrant 2" (I could not see it in my phone market, so I went to the web market: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.samsung.tmo.carhome1&feature=search_result )
This app has the speaker button on it, along with a brightness button, and an exit button.
When I turned off the internal speaker, the notifications seemed to work on mine (Bionix-v 1.3.1 with OverStock)
Hope that helps!
It's not elegant, but I just cut away that corner of the dock to make room for the audio plug, and that worked great for me. Instructions here:

[Q] Strange Bluetooth issue

So I got the Thunderbolt on release day and the first thing I tried when leaving the store was syncing to my 2011 VW Tiguan. It did sync fine with the phone (handsfree) and phonebook. I was using it without issue until I decided the other day to try streaming media to the radio. Both devices showed that the mediastreaming was paired as well as the headset.
Long story short... it didnt work. No audio was streamed thru the connection. OK so fine. Except now when I connect the phone to the car it first connects the headset and the media streaming profiles and then disconnects the headset. It will not reconnect at all now. (Actually it says that it is paired but disconnected)
I deleted everything and tried to re-pair it to no effect. I changed the phones name as well. I have tried a battery pull from the phone but it will no longer connect the headset profile to the car or download the phonebook.
**UPDATE**
I was able to pair it and use my jawbone headset. Would still like to get the speaker phone working.
Any thoughts? Im in the car for many hours per day and this is going to make me crazy.

[Q] Is you car Mode Disabling bluetooth media?

When I first Installed my rezound car dock, I also installed an Aux Audio 3.5mm jack.
Later I upgraded to a bluetooth receiver, and stopped using the dock because It couldn't provide enough power to the phone due to bad design.
iBolt replaced the dock for me free of charge, and I started using it again sparingly when I need a charge, but there has always been a nagging issue I'm not sure how to fix.
When Car Mode is enabled, as in it says car mode enabled in the notifications, it pulls the bluetooth media (pandora HTCmusic or gmusic) to the external speaker.
The second I take it off the car dock, or click disable car mode in the notifications, pandora/gmusic/htcmusic goes right back to the bluetooth receiver.
Running Newt's ICS atm, but I've had the same Issue with Venasaur 3.0 to 3.2
I don't use the stock HTC car app, I have Carhome V3 set as my default car app.
So Far I've tried
1) going into the car app settings, and choosing my bluetooth headset as both the default phone and media device. Didn't work.
2) Disabling the stock car app in the app manager. Didn't work, the Notifications said car mode enabled, asked which app to use, and then pandora played over the external speaker.
I had already upgraded to ICS before I got the bluetooth unit, so I'm not sure if this happens in GB or not. Anyone able to test this?
This isn't a BIG issue for me, as I have two other power outlets to charge my phone from in my car. Just sorta an annoyance.
Hopefully I can let you know in a few days here. I have the iBolt dock too. Ssame story, got the replacement one from their support because of the charging issue. Anyway, I've been using a crappy old tape adapter in my car, just ordered a bluetooth adapter and should have it soon.
I wondering if it's a Sense thing. Back when I was on stock GB I couldn't figure why BT kept quitting on me in the car. I kept closing out of the HTC car dock because it was stupid. Well, it turned out that closing the dock app automatically shut off BT. I froze the HTC car home app (Car Panel?) in TB and didn't have any more problems. These are the kind of things that make we wish for AOSP/AOKP! I'm using con's rom now, though.
for me its not so much the Car home app, but being in car mode (Icon in the notifcations) that kills ONLY Bluetooth media.
BT works fine for me. iBolt dock, rooted/stock (GB), Carhome Ultra as the launcher. I use BT all the time in the car, for streaming audio (Subsonic/Pandora/etc.) through a Moto T605.

New Note 3, couple of issues

So, I love this phone and hate it at the same time.
First off, just at random, the BT, Wi-Fi or GPS will just turn off. Has not happened for a couple days, nothing has really changed.
Now the big issues. These are driving me nuts....
I have a Pyle PLDN74BTi (don't laugh, it was dirt cheap) and it supports Bluetooth audio and tagging and speakerphone from a BT phone. All the features work except the tagging. I cannot get BT to display the audio info or the phone info.
Second, I just bought an iBolt xProDockX. When I dock it, the phone recognizes its docked, but it will not open the doc app upon dock. I look in the default apps, and the dock isn't even listed. I purchased Car Home Ultra and it wont auto open, I even install the dock&drive app from iBolt and it wont auto open upon docking either.
Anyone else having these stupid issues with their phone? I have cleared all the apps, and I have restarted the phone. No Dice.

It sounds like a bad phone. Might want to take it back and exchange it.

Android Auto and Bluetooth

Hey all, I recently traded in my V20 for a new G6.
I've got a 2016 Honda Civic and am having serious issues with Android Auto. Every time i plug in, it will play audio for about 10 minutes and then disconnect. Once I reconnect it will be about 10 seconds to 1 minute before it disconnects again if it connects at all. After clearing app data in AA i usually can get it to stay for about 10 minutes and then it does it again.
I know it's not the cable because i've tested both the cable that i was using with my v20 and also the one that came as a charging cable for the g6.
I have tried turning on USB debugging and also have tried all three USB connection modes.
This is super frustrating especially because for some reason (even though my v20 played audio just fine) the g6 and civic combo will only connect bluetooth for voice and not for media (without crashing.)
Anyone else experience this??
Sorry I can't help. It works fine on my Tesla.
I have what might be a similar issue. I don't get disconnects but on my 2017 Chevy Colorado, if I turn off the truck with the phone still connected to USB (for example, a quick stop at a gas station), after I restart the truck, G6 audio doesn't work at all. I have to reboot. I've tried force-stopping Waze, Pandora, and Android Auto; disconnecting and reconnecting USB; and even going into airplane mode (my phone hitchhikes on the truck's WiFi)... nothing works except a reboot. Literally the only thing I don't like about the G6.
Android Auto was flawless on my previous Nexus 6P ... but it went into bootloop and became a $700 paperweight.
I'm having similar issues with my G6 and AAuto in a 17Civic Hatchback My 1st drive of the day is usually ok But 2nd and thereafter drives no matter how much time in between The radio or music play pauses randomly whether it's a music player on Bluetooth sub Amazon music Pandora even Sirius radio I brought it in for service 4 times they tell me it's the phone or settings on the phone finally got a tech to see what's going on long story shorter they just replaced the entire radio/android system with latest android update well guess what same old same old still doing it very frustrating I had an LG G3 prior and for the most part no issues So is it a G6 thing Android Auto thing or Honda thing??? I also tried 4 or 5 different music player apps that are compatible with AA
When pressing the play button on any music player while connected to my 2017 Civic, it instantly crashes the bluetooth application. Oddly enough, for some reason the YouTube Music application can play multiple tracks without issue as long as you're using a playlist and keeping the screen off while doing so. I don't think that Android Auto is the problem, because it works perfectly fine via USB port and always allows me to interface with the application on my Civic's touchscreen panel. However, I am glad to see that I'm not the only one with this issue so maybe there will be a fix hopefully somewhere down the line.
