Hello all !
is that normal ?
Today i tryed to flash a wildfire S rom on my legend !
AND EVERYTHING OUTSIDE WIFI WORKS !!!
Maybe someone can put a wifi driver in Wildfire S Roms for Legend
You mean a ROM designed for the Wildfire S? Designed NOT TO BE USED WITH ANY OTHER PHONE (including Legend)? If so, then wow, that's impressive, I'm surprised your phone actually booted that up!
If that was actually the case, no, that's not normal. But we do have a ROM that's loosely based off of the HTC Salsa in our dev forum. It's very nice, and has a ton more things than what the Wildfire S ROM could offer!
Yes, a ROM designed for Wildfire S.
flashed with Clockworkmod
Only wifi don´t work.

Does that mean...
ALL custom rom for Wildfire + WIFI Fix for legend (if possible) can be used for Legend?
HOLY CRAP THAT IS BADASS
...I hope that now you know that ROMs designed for the WFS (no matter what port they are of from) aren't necessarily designed or guaranteed to work with Legend, right?
Check our dev forum for ogo2's spectacular NewSense ROM, WiFi is fine with occasional hiccups. Check the thread for additional details!
yesterday i flashed other Wildfire S ROM´s for test...
All have worked ! ( without wifi )
But the Hardware of Wildfire S is nearly the same as LEGEND. i think only the wifi is changed by HTC
I feel brave so gonna try this myself nothing to loose I guess, I am S-On so can't damage anything.
Edit, it would seem that my ext3 partition is recognised by the rom It is showing that I have 438MB of Internal storage space on my legend. but cannot see the fat32 partition hummmmm could that be what the logcat is meaning when it says can't find mount point??
I have flashed the rom, I can confirm that it boots up and works, when u try to activate wifi shows error....
I am using android commander to monitor the logcat, it is showing up many errors, warnings and stuff It's almost jibberish to me, but I can pick out some stuff that makes sense (no pun)
Working:- (Tested so far)
Mobile internet
Holly crap. GPS actually works, lock took about 4 seconds INSIDE the house!!!! Now why can't GPS work on Cyanogen 7.10?
Camera working Can't take picture (No SDcard recognised)
Speaker.
TXT msg.
NOT Working:-
Bluetooth won't turn on (No surprises there).
WIFI
Won't recognise my SDcard.
That's all for now folks.
Looks like I nice rom, i'm Not a Dev, but it would seam to me that it would take very little effort for someone that knows how, to get every thing working that isn't?
UPDATE:
REAL SALSA ROM´S are also working ( no wifi, sdcard and BT but ext3 works ! )
I think that our LEGEND, Wildfire S and Salsa are nearly the same motherboard.
Maybe that will help our DEV´S to make something with that information.
I´m only a beginner but i have many days spended with my old G1. Now i have my LEGEND - and i love it !

It's a bit redundant, though. We have neither a Facebook button, not a front-facing camera. And don't forget the bigger screen and faster clock speed, albeit that would most likely be unaffected with the ROM.
Where is ogo2, we need some of his advise, if those little things can be fix
guys wherr cn u find a wifi driver in a rom, and can i just add the wifi driver file straight away to this wildifre s rom ??

Guys i think some HTC Aria roms would also work very well with our HTC Legend cos my sister got one and im comparing it specs wise and basically the same except the Aria doesnt have flash camera thats all i have a good feeling about this, cos the Aria development has ICS AOSP roms working!!! (well except some wifi), definitely gonna try it when i have time
Wtf..? Definitely trying this at the weekend.

What is the point of installing a Wildfire ROM on the Legend? Good to see it works, might open up some options.
I thought the WFS, Aria, Hero, Legend essentially have the same hardware etc.
To get GPS working on CM7.1 downgrade/flash back an older version of Clockwork Mod (2.0 something, can't remember) and then flash your relevant radio. GPS will work after that. Then update to latest CWM.
It's a pity no one followed up on this info, There is potential for lots more really great roms for legend. But I guess legend forums are pretty much reaching the point of being a legacy device now (read dead) as most devs would appear to have moved on to better hardware now which is sad because legend is legend phone
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, it was totally legendary. But in regions with 2-year contracts, they must have moved on long ago. We here in Canada have a 3-year contract option (which was ending from this past August), so then I'd be surprised if Legend's 2010 adopters would still be using this device.
But hey, we're still on XDA's front page, up there with the Nexus One and the HD2. This is a testament to our legendary progress, eh?
Even I've moved on myself, briefly on to a DHD (rooted) but as you can see I'm now on the "other side" not sure if you can call it the darkside with an SGS4 (unrooted) no need to root this beast, yet lol.

Still using my Legend as my main phone. I'm on CM7.1 stable. Almost 3 years old, batterylife is over one day with average usage. Tried at least 10 roms, from Blayo 0.8 to CM10, battery always was an issue, as well as GPS, which is always a pita, now too.
So, I am still interested in new roms with working GPS and good batterylife.

hey folks.
I've been running a few different Roms recently, mainly the ICS ones, but then i tried Nicks Phone. i was liking the speed of it after ICS, but then i tried to turn the flashlight on (which had been working fine!) and it didnt come on, i tried again, same result. i then tried the camera, and that fc'd. i rebooted, and the same thing, i cleared caches etc, reinstalled, tried 3 other roms, and still the camera and light do not work. i will attach a link to a logcat, as i have no idea what might be wrong, i think its just broken lol. but if anyone has a spare few minutes to have a look at the logcat, id be most appreciative.

Sandvolds ICS rom 4.4.2 is the most stable and the camera works but not the video. Camera has been an issue on most roms for a while. You just have to keep watching the latest rom updates and flash until your satisfied with the whole rom.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium HD app
Hi, this is no longer an ICS issue. i have been using sandvolds builds since the very 1st one and am fully aware of camera issues/fixes etc. this is totally seperate now as the problem occured usinging nicks phone (gb) and is continueing on both gb and ics roms. so its more than just a software issue i think

Moving to Q&A
ok, can i try and bump this up again, it appears the camera not working is causing a few issues on certain roms. i tried to install Cos-gb, and it installs fine, but once fully loaded and into the os, the phone crashes as soon as it starts loading the camera stuff (ive watched this in a logcat) and i cant use that Rom due to the crashes? Im currently using ReduxZM and its all good, apart from no camera .
has anyone took the phone apart before? could it be a loose connection or something? i repair computers for a living so arent too afraid to take my desire apart if anyone thinks its worth it?
Maybe HTC is collaborating with source kernels we could use on sense ICS roms
Hi,
I'm a noob on sense & ICS development (done some testings and devs but not exhaustive)
Im concerned (like most of HTC Sense users) with the nonavailability of ICS Sense ROMs (with working camera, tethering etc ..)
HTC is "developping" an OTA for desire HD, but is being postponed one and one more time (I think now is for August).
I've found googling this HTC (seems to be HTC, the site is not certified):
http://htcdev.com/
Here are SDK for sense (wow) and the kernels for all models (obviously, desire hd doesn't have the 3.0 kernel needed for ICS full-woking roms) but there are several devices which do have this kernel
One of them is Sensation (the most similar to desire HD with ICS + 3.0 Kernel)
My question, maybe apportation is:
This kernel could not be used to make the ICS SENSE roms work 100%?
I hope this could help or someone could keep me away for my hopes if this is not useful for a DHD full-working sense ROM
Is there any fully functional jelly bean ROMS for evo lte? if so, which ones do you guys recommend? this is my first time rooting ever, so, which backup software should i use? thanks!

Bumping. Because! It has been almost two months since the last reply and I have heard there are some fairly stable Jelly Roms for the Evo LTE now. My question: What are they and how stable are they?
cm10 is very nice...multitask works perfectly...battery life is awesome
HTC EVO LTE
Cm10, paranoid and aokp are the only jb roms that I know of at the moment. All are pretty stable and lots of people are using them as daily drivers. There are still a few issues like phone force closing on boot, flaky mms and weak proximity sensor (there's a separate flash that fixes) but on the whole they are fully functional. Some have reported cell and gps signal issues but everyone's setup is different...YMMV, I suggest giving them all a shot to see which one you like best. Cm10 seems to be the favorite right now, but paranoid has some pretty cool display tweaks. If you're coming from sense and you're s-on with hboot 1.15 or later, make sure to read up on flashing the kernel separately with fastboot.

Im a completely NOOB when it comes to rooting because I have never done it before, so everything you said might as well be chinese, lol, but no worries, once I pick a ROM, I ll do extensive research on everything you just told me.
My main concern though: My wife's Galaxy SIII sends over track and album art info to our Prius Nav display perfectly. Also, the "reading SMS outloud" feature only works with her phone, and not mine. Will flashing to one of these ROMs add this functionality to my phone? I have heard that the main issue is the version of AVRCP bluetooth profile that HTC uses in sense and also the bluetooth stacks library that Sense uses. I had heard that CM fixed this, but im not sure. And what about the SMS reading thing? what determines that?
Read my guide. It has a lot of info
If you're new to the scene, definitely read om4's guide...it has lots of good info about rooting, flashing, etc. all in one place. Much easier than hours of searching for each topic individually...

Ok guys so I have been reading on the thread you guys recommended, and i still havent pulled the trigger on rooting. I do have a few questions:
-One of the main things I noticed is, if I get CM10, I lose the awesome camera the EVO has. Im assuming if I get a rooted sense based ROM, I would still keep my awesome camera?
-One of the main reasons I am rooting is because I have heard CM10 has a better bluetooth stack built in, and as such it should work much better with my car, sending over track and album artist, as well as the ablity to browse music files via bluetooth through my nav screen. Or at the very least, I want to be able to get back the USB plug in functionality I used to have on the EVO 3D. When i plug in my Evo LTE in my car's USB, nothing happens. So, is there a ROM that allows me to keep the sense camera but also has the bluetooth/USB host capabilities I am looking for?
-When I root, does everything get wiped out and I have to reinstall all my apps, contacts, etc?
I'm on CM10 for the past month and am really liking it. Since I was also disappointed by the camera app I went ahead and tried the Jelly Bean 4.2 camera, and it works wonderfully. It's not 100% as awesome as HTCs, but it's enough for me. Look for the JB 4.2 apps - it's floating around somewhere.
As for BT - I don't think CM10 has APT-X, so audio quality would be lower on compatible devices. I think I notice a difference on my BT stereo headset, but it may be my imagination. Again - small price to pay for using CM10.

thanks for the reply, but I am not as concerned with audio quality as I am with my track/artist/playlist information showing up on my car's LCD Nav thing. Any ideas on what I can do to get that to happen? Does CM10 have this? And what is APT-X? What I was talking about is AVRCP. Stock sense does not have a high enough level (version) of AVRCP to do what I want. Somewhere on another thread I was told that CM does have this, but I have since been unable to confirm it.

Your probably better off waiting for the official jelly bean update from HTC which *should* be in the next month or so. It might be included in that. As far as cm10 goes, you have nothing to lose by trying it to see... Just back everything up before you root and then try it to find out.

Howzit guys,
I have a HTC Aria the AT&T version. I've rooted my phone and all the jazz. I'm interested in putting this ROM on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588599
What I want to know is how much internal space will be available once the ROM is installed. I currently an running Froyo/w HTC Sense and there just isn't enough internal storage space on the phone.
Regards
There's much more space in non HTC Sense roms I think. If I remember correctly, there's about 118mb free at the start.
Also, you can use S2E to move your dalvik cache to the sd card which will give you an additional 50-100mb depending on your apps.
Where can I get S2E?
You can find s2e on the Google Play store. It uses a partition on your sd card. To create the partition you can use a function in the Rom Manager app, which should have come with the ROM you installed. If not, its also on the Play store. You can also create the partition with Clockwork recovery. It will completely wipe your sd card, so make sure you have a backup of stuff you want to save. The ROM Manager method is a little easier.
Once the partition is setup, s2e will give you the option of loading cache and program files to the sd card partition. When you have it load program files, it automatically loads all existing and new downloaded programs to the sd partition. Even those that usually don't provide that option. In fact, DON'T SET "MOVE TO SD" FOR INDIVIDUAL PROGRAMS. While it sounds a little counter-intuitive, it will actually defeat the s2e function. The sd partition actually becomes an extension of your phone's memory. Its a very clever program for phones with limited memory.

If you are concerned about free space, I'd advise you to install Cyanogenmod and then use S2E. If configured correctly, it will give you as much space for apps as you are willing to dedicate on your SD card. Preferably do that only with a reasonably fast SD card (class 2 is probably too slow).
Sorry if I caused confusion there. Out of all the ROM available for HTC Aria, which do you guys rate as the best and which are you currently using?
I don't wanna go through all the effort of installing and backing-up and it turns out I put a bad ROM on my phone.
I would recommend this ROM by WinSuk. I think it is the most up-to-date CM9 / ICS ROM.

I would recommend CM7.2. even though it's not as up to date as ICS, it's very stable, and no bugs as far as I can tell.

I've always been a Sense-ROM sort of guy for my Aria - tried CM7 a while back, and found the battery life wanting in comparison. But lately, I'm sick of seeing the "not-compatible" message with some of the newer apps on the market...
Is CM7.2 worth a look? It's Android 2.3, correct?
I don't like the list of issues with the camera on CM9, otherwise I would jump on that Winsuk ROM. I use my camera a lot - take pictures of receipts for Evernote, purchase comparisons, barcode scanning, etc. I can't afford to lose any basic camera functionality.

Not trying to advertise or anything here (okay maybe ), but in case you haven't looked at the CM9 thread in awhile, everything works on the camera except video (which used to work, which is strange), and a separate app can be used to take it if needed.
There's also a 2.3 based sense ROM around here somewhere ("Gingersense" I think), but I don't remember if everything works on it..

So what doesn't work, then? FM radio? Watching videos on Youtube?
Also - none of those "Gingersense" ROMs were worth much, as Bluetooth and other functionality would either crash the phone or not work at all. Never a true working phone option...

Everything not working is listed in the thread. Pretty much only one major thing remains - videos use a software decoder instead of hardware, and if videos are too big (say, bigger then the screen's resolution) they play slow. So HQ on YouTube is mostly unwatchable, but LQ plays fine
There's also a bug/memory leak in the decoder, and if it goes too long the system will run out of memory & reboot (this bug is fixed in Jellybean/CM10 though)
FM radio works with Spirit FM
I should note that battery life probably won't be as good though (kind of expected with all the new stuff I think)
You can always try it and revert back if you don't like it
I read through the thread - it sounds more like a testing ROM than an everyday ROM still, at least for how I would use it.
I might take the leap to CM7.2 again though, and hope I can manage the battery better.
Ok so I really need to put a new ROM on now cause my phones internal storage is so low I can't even open my Gallery anymore. I've been looking at CM7 or CM9 but there's so many different version on each, how do I know which is the most stable for everyday use?
Hello people, I am unrooted and have enjoyed my ATRIX 4g even though I have been stuck with the final ginger bread ota release at&t gave us and have waited patiently for the promised ota ICS upgrade which they now posted we will not get, I am aware that there is a Leak Test ICS that is buggy, and have been mods made or provided over here by your awesome developers bringing our devices up to JB level even, but am a fan of the functioning camera and finger print biometrics personally. I am a noob as far as Android rooting but very tech savvy and with devices and software in general, every app I have wanted to use has been great on this phone regardless of what version it was made for until today... I am quite into photo editing and have a ton of photo edit apps and engage in IG a bit, we as the underdogs over at IG were always fighting to make our tweaks and edits look as good as an Iphone edit mainly because they had an app called Snapseed, I was very pleased. When I read google had purchased this app drom NIK software a month ago and today it was finally released for Android, I went to Google Play and it for the first time ever said this app is not compatible with your device, it needs 4.0 or above in other words ICS, now my main question here is if I did root flash a mod similar to ICS or the unstable leak version will Google play still just see the signature of my phone and not allow a download or if I was running a new os would it get around that issue, I did also write the developer but doubt they are too concerned about making the app backward compatible as Google also purchased Motorola and offer a mere $100.00 towards upgrading to a different moto phone and I love this ine and do not have the money at the noment to do so.. any advice would be greatly appteciated, as to a a suitable os and whether or not it would even allow us Atrix 4g users to download Snapseed if our phone is recognized by its name and autodetection by googlr play tegardlrss of os, I mean it's a fast phone I've had no problems, everything works, dual core, good ram, speed stirage etc.. thanks Stu
Shows up fine on EPinter's CM10. Market just checks what version of Android your device is using. I haven't installed it to check, but will be doing so shortly. I'll get back to you about how it fairs on our devices.

Edit: After about 10 mins of playing around, it's running pretty well. No noticeable lag whatsoever. Kinda regret paying for PicSay Pro since this one seems to have a simpler UI.

Thanks very much sir, I will now have to look into this EPinter's CM10 and learn the whole process and hopefully not brick my phone, I'm good with directions, does the CM10 have a working camera and fingerprint scanner, and can I save my whole phone image if it all went south? I also paid for PicSayPro and many others too, love graphic arts and photography so the cam although only 5mp is important at times.
Anyway thanks very much yet again for the info.
No problem. Yes, you should make a nandroid backup once you have a custom recovery. It is one of the recommended steps followed by an exclamation mark. =P The only thing lacking on EPinter's CM10 is video camera (related to missing HWA due to improper kernel source) Regular camera works fine for still shots. I use camera fx & camera 360, both work without any issues. And No, the fingerprint scanner doesn't work since it's not a part of CM source.
There is an unofficial, "official" ICS (ICSROM & ATRICS) that has proper HWA with video camera and fingerprint scanner but the battery life is terrible and the phone gets really hot. I personally had random restarts every few minutes.EPinter's CM10 does well as a daily driver, but if you're going to go through the trouble, might as well try all the roms available! =D

Thanks very much for this info, I will research these downloads, I watched a youtube vid of cm10 and looked good, seems the Atrix is a bit more of a pain to work with than other Androids but will look into the whole process of unlocking and fastboots and the nanandroid back up etc.
Greatly appreciate the help.

Yes, the Atrix is a pain compared others, but once rooted with a custom recovery (IMHO RomRacer's custom CWM 5.0.2.7 is the best, never had issues) it's just like any other device. Heck, I remember flashing 3-4 ROMs a day, it was insane! =P
I would recommend downloading Titanium Backup from the market as well. It will help you quickly backup your most used apps w/ data/settings and reinstall them after installing a new ROM. Good luck and have fun.
P.S. Thanks for Snapseed!

I bought the HTC One X+ international version for the tegra3 and 64gb capacity.... but it seems like there are hardly any roms which are fully functional. I am currently using the Venom ViperX+ ROM... and it SUCKS... terrible rom.. slow as all hell... mad problems with maps and force closes in general.... I am about to switch to Android Revolution HD because it is the only rom that even seems like it has a chance at working fully. There have been all these projects forever CM10.2, CM11, and now I see there is one for CM12... what is the point if none of them work correctly???
Could anyone recommend a stable rom?

Go back to fully stock if you want a truely stable ROM, else CM11 on my HOX+ is consider fully functional already. Small bugs which I encountered which is FM radio not working, Video record only in 3GP format. But that does not bug me because I rarely use those feature.

Wow...how about you help out? Or say what your having issues with? Or how about you make your own ROM and release it? Then everyone can tell you how awful it is.
Sure, Let's click the "Create Stable ROM" button.
That's not how ROM development works buddy. It's not as easy as you think specially not for the HOX+.
You see, Developers on here don't get paid for the ROMS they make. They mostly make it for fun in their free time they're not obliged in ANY WAY to provide you with ROMs.
So if you have nothing nice to say then you better stay quiet
Oh and I tried ViperX+ ROM a long time ago and it was running fine for me
Plus its your fault for buying a 2 years old device without checking if it had ROMS or not.
ok... sorry... i didn't mean to sound rude... honestly... I was just getting irritated with my phone lagging out in the viper rom...
I didnt mean to offend anyone... especially you Lloir... cuz I know you've done alot of work on here...
I apologize once more...
Lloir's 4.3 AOSP works great as does Omni. Carbon great too. Those are good to try before that first impression goes pear shaped. Oh, it did already. Oops.
