It seems that when I have the screen off on my TP for a while, the connection turns "gray" and I'm unable to use the internet. The only way to fix it is to turn the wifi on and off.
I tried a factory reset and it worked fine for a day or two, but now its doing it again...
Any suggestions?
Go into setting... wifi... then in the upper right corner press on it then hit advanced.... you'll find your answer there... wifi sleep policy should say"always"

I have it on "Always" Keep Wi-fi on during sleep.
Its not that my tablet disconnects from my network...it is still connected, but the symbol is gray and doesn't send/recieve data.
Also for reference I have a WRT-54GL running tomato 1.28 firmware
What mode is it on? Try perfomance if its not... thinking it must be some battery saving thing or battery saver app

You know I was racking my brain as to WHY the transformer started doing this again in the last day. Then I remembered that I changed it from performance to balanced yesterday
I think you are exactly right, I'll see what happens over the next few days. Thanks for the prompt reply!
I noticed this gray "issue" this morning, but I've since sent my prime into Asus for repair.
The four bands of WiFi used to be blue over gray. This morning the WiFi bands were bright gray over darker gray.

Anyone else seeing this? After numerous reboots and several discharges this has not changed. The usage graph is accurate though.

Same here it is kind of annoying.
The original Transformer had that problem as well until an update.

same here...guess we have to wait for the new update...is there any other apps that can tell us the battery usage?

I use Battery Monitor Widget Pro, but it may depend on the OS for its info rather than reading the hardware. In which case it won't help you.
Tap on the graph. It expands it and shows details. I have no idea why it can't display it in collapsed mode though.

That shows different data. This is definitely a bug...
Hey guys,
I just spent an hour puzzling over how this could drain 20% in an hour while simply reading a PDF (ezPDF reader, screen on, flipping pages every 2-3 minutes) with auto brightness on, wifi on with a strong connection - not downloading or doing anything in the background.
Charging for an hour on the dock too, it's up to 90% but killed half of my dock's battery.
I had MUCH better battery life on .14 with my BC0K s/n tablet (this is a C10), but I got this one the day .15 was released so I have nothing to compare against.
Do you guys think I'm having these issues with .15 or could it be a h/w issue? Don't want to unlock and try virtuous if I have a lemon battery.

You'd want to look at the stats to see what exactly is draining the battery. I've used ezPDF to read PDF for two hours undocked with the screen constantly on and not getting anywhere close to that amount of drain.
I'm also on .15 by the way.

what stats specifically?

.15 massacred my battery too.
I ended up unlocking and flashing virtuous (.14) which fixed the problem for the most part.
if you can't unlock - there's a riskier method of downgrading in the development forum.

Hmm I was gonna say the battery stats in the settings, but it seems the feature is broken on my Prime so chances are it's broken for you too... There might be some apps on the market that lets you see how much power each app is using but I haven't used one. Anyone has any idea?

Hi, im new to the prime only had it about a week.
im having issues with the WiFi sleep, ive set it to every setting and it still wont turn off when the tablet is off.
anyone else getting this? any solutions?

Did you try advanced settings in wifi setup?
At wifi setup, look in the top right corner for the 3 vertical dots. Click that then advanced. Thats where wifi sleep is.

Mine takes a couple of minutes to shut off wifi when the screen is off. It is not instant. Turn screen off and let sit for 10 minutes.

So I searched the Q&A section but couldn't find my problem exactly so I thought I would ask. I leave my prime attached to the ASUS keyboard dock all the time. I will charge it while it is on overnight (so both the tablet battery and the dock battery show 100%), but 2 days later the battery is 100% dead and I haven't even used the tablet! The ASUS power setting is set to Balanced, and the MobileDock Batter Saving Mode and Disconnect network during sleep are also both checked. I am stumped.
I have attached a screen shot of what the battery graph shows, and it is quite weird to me.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thats really weird seems like a defective battery but definetly give your prime a cold boot that always seems clear up and problems for me.

Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by a cold boot? When the battery dies, it is fully shut down, so it always starts from a completely shut down state. Thanks!
So I just figured out something interesting. I opened my tablet today and again it was dead, or at least was off and wouldn't turn on. So, I took it off the keyboard dock, and wouldn't you know it turned on!! It is at 54% but the tablet battery is fine. I think the dock may be bad. Anyone else have a problem with the docks?

you (and everybody else running ics on prime) have sod. Do a search here. it only happens when docked. if you hold the power button for 20seconds or thereabouts it will reboot and you will be fine.

I read this article awhile back. It made sense at the time, but now I wanted to hear everyone else's experiences here.

Ok, I now personally hate the two words "What's" and "best" in the same sentence. Although, this wasn't a question where the answer is personal. Wifi on as soon as you can have wifi is the better choice. Having wifi on but not being connected to a wifi network isn't good. Mobile data (3G) drains more battery than Wifi.
I only asked because on my sgs1, it was true. But on my sgs3 and initially it was draining the battery and a lot of us compared screen shots of the battery slopes. We all noticed it drained during the times wifi was kept on during sleep.
Well that was when the phone first came out. Flash forward to today I'm on omega 27.2 and gave it a try last night. To my surprise it didn't drain. I'm just wondering if I'm experiencing a placebo or not.
P. S. I also hate you too ;p

I've always been a WiFi on kinda guy.
3g consumes more power than WiFi so I always set wifi off during sleep to never.
