go to recovery-> advanced -> Wipe Dalvik Cache -> Yes - Wipe Dalvik Cache
after install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard -> 4.0.2.A.0.62.zip -> Yes - Install 4.0.2.A.0.62.zip
after it download stock firmware without /system
http://narod.ru/disk/38055720001/MT15i_4.0.2.A.0.62_nosystem.ftf.html (for neo)
http://narod.ru/disk/38055553001/MT11i_4.0.2.A.0.62_nosystem.ftf.html (for neo v)

I think both are the same, only thing different in this method is Androidddd2 says us to wipe dalvik cache which will erase something in the older rom.Wonder what will get erased when wiping the dalvik cache

You need wipe Dalvik cache every time as you change kernel. This is a Java cache.

Why would you need to do that?
What does java cache have to do with kernel?
It should be wiped only when installing new rom(not necessarily with kernel)
Dalvik is java based VM in which your apps are run-ed, which is why it's good to clean it, and cache when installing new rom.

IMHO, you don't need to wipe it. After all, you already changed kernel right? And do you get any problems? No? Good

Get flashable 4.0.2.A.0.42 frimware from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19808360&postcount=3
get flashtool from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19808386&postcount=4

Don't forget to wipe cache and user data, and don't forget to backup stuff from your phone, as flashing process will delete everything from phone(of course not from card)

[Q] Total noob, stuck at Sony logo after flashing ROM

Hey, I hope I can get some help here. I'm a total noob and I don't know if other similar threads apply to me. Anyway, I have a rooted Xperia Neo V, with ICS 4.0.3 and I used ROM Manager app to casually flash the "Xperia Pureness" ROM I downloaded. I didn't do a full wipe because I was too stupid to look at the instructions. Is this fixable?

as can be interpreted u have a unlocked bootloader( i guess that's right)

Ya ..you can install custom ROMS now i hope u hv boot loader unlocked ..head over to the Neov development section and download the ROM you want ..Follow the instructions really carefully while installing ROMS
And the answer of your second question is NO. When installing stock ROM or repairing it all apps and setting are gone nothing to do with wipe dalvik cache
Problem persists
So i tried installing pureness once more, this time i made sure i wiped davik cache. Same problem stuck at SONY and so had to revert to stock once more. I havent unlocked BL yet. Is it necessary for installing Pureness. Also can somebody tell me if i am doing it right.
1) used flash tool to downgrade to .562
2)rooted using Doomlords tool
3)Used flash tool to upgrade back to .431
4)Installed cwm auto installer apk from google play
5)Installed cwm
6)Booted into recovery
7)Made a backup
8)Used install from zip option to install Pureness
9) reboot and its stuck
Cant even access cwm since its stuck at that point , so i cant use the backup also right.
First, flash a specific kernel for that ROM.. Look for the link for kernels in the above post!
Flash the kernel first.. Reboot into recovery... Wipe data, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache... And then install zip from sd card!
Reboot your phone! You'll be done now!
flashing kernel
I am guessing for flashing the kernel , i have to unlock bootloader.
You didn't unlock your bootloader?!
You definitely can't flash a custom kernel without unlocking it!
I suggest you go with the official Sony's way..
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
BL
but that will void my warranty right and i will no longer be able to use SEUS for reveting to stock.
Yea.. That would void your warranty!
But unlocking the bootloader will allow to install custom ROMs which shall be very fast and smooth as compared to the stock one... and I don't think you'll revert back to stock!
Though relocking can be done but you won't be able to update your phone through over the air updates!
It's your choice!
1. Unlock bootloader using sony's,
Method
2. Flash the custom kernel
3. Get into CWM
4.wipe delvic/data/battery stat
5. Install custom rom
6. Install gapps(if necessary)
7.wipe delvic
8. Reboot
That are common steps
Also use the recommended kernel by the developer
Also follow his instruction...if in doubt serch if still confused post here
Sent from my MT11i using xda app-developers app
Mods ftw
I dont want to unlock bootloader now. Presently having fun with different mods . Once i get tired of them , will try unlocking. Please suggest some useful mods.Currently installed Romcontrol by jjdoctor and walkman for ICS by thilinac.

5. Flash kernel (fastboot flash boot boot.img)

Hope I'm not making a fool out of myself..
But, why are the instructions in that order?
The normal way to go is:
Flash kernel > factory/cache partition/system/dalvik cache wipe > Install the ROM > Install any .zip (fixes, addons, apps) > Reboot.
Is there any specific reason why the steps mentioned by the OP are in this order?
Thank you!

Not too sure, I have a slight feeling they messed up when writing it all down. But kernel is always first. After kernel dont boot the rom, just power on and head to recovery. Full wipe, format system, install rom, install gapps, full wipe and wipe dalvik cache, then reboot and watch the magic.

It doesn't matter, if you have recovery in previous ROM you can flash new ROM first in old reco and then flash kernel in fastboot.
May be the answer lies in here..

You mean real ics? Okay please update to ics like explained here first. After that get cwm.
Download the rom and put it on sd card.
1. Reboot in cwm
2. "install zip from sd card" > "choose zip"> choose the installation zip
3. wipe data/factory reset
4. Wipe cache partition
5. advanced > wipe dalvik cache
6. Reboot
That's it. Should work

As srik9999 said download seus and just repair it.
You can use flashtool too but i reccomend seus.
Also when it says first boot might take some time it means that you will have already accesed your bootanimation and you wait.
Just a last thing. You probably did something wrong or you used a download manager and your zip got corrupted
